morning. the prime minister of bangladesh has declared two days of mourning after 20 hostages and two police officers were killed in a terror attack. after several hours, police rescued 13 hostages and killed six of the attackers. police also captured one of the attackers alive. isis has claimed responsiblitiy. c-n-n's scott mclean has the story. >>: were shooting in the air they were just creating fear later the guests were all lying on the ground we escaped in whatever safeway we could. >> reporter: assists later claimed responsibility. this

keeping all the films in their prayers >> alecia: their offering a moral being planned for jane. >> marty:in world news. it's been almost a week since the suicide bombing attacks in turkey. this morning 52 people are still being treated in hospitals. twenty of them are in intensive care. the bombings at istanbul's airport, which is one of the world's busiest killed at least 44 people, tuesday night. turkish police have detained at least 24 people over possible connections to the attack. the attack was carried out by three suicide bombers.

they were armed with assault rifles and explosives. investigators reportedly are focused on a chechen extremist with isis-ties as the mastermind of the attack. back in the united states. a man facing terrorism related charges appeared in court. >> marty:he is accused of targeting two buildings in arizona. 18-year-old mahin khan was arrested in tuscon on friday. the attorney general's office says that the buildings khan was targeting were in phoenix and tucson. police say the would be attack had nothing to do with fourth of july celebrations. khan is being held in jail without bond. still ahead on the kron 4 morning news. a broken water main has forced some east bay business owners to close their doors. >> marty:we'll find out what officials say caused the break. and. a new bill to help the homeless. we'll tell you how much governor brown plans to spend. also. a tax increase for smokers. how much california wants to charge for a pack of cigarettes. that's next.

illness. in the east bay, if you are planning on taking bart to the tri-valley this weekend, you may want to find a different way to get there. that's because no trains will be running through the south hayward, union city, and fremont. bart is doing repair and maintenance work all through the holiday weekend. there will be a free bus service between those stations. bart says people should expect delays. service will be restored to those stations on tuesday. >> marty:in the east bay. an update to a story we brought you first on kron 4 news weekend. contra costa water district crews have figured out what caused a flood on a busy street in pleasant hill friday night. but, kron four's spencer blake reports, there's still a lot left to do before the street is back open. >> reporter:it wasn't a sinkhole that caused this mess in pleasant hill friday night - water rising up to the curb of this strip mall, and even *into some of the stores. it was a water main break - a ten-foot section of pipe that cracked beneath contra costa boulevard. "there was some buckling that happened, so that whole area, we'll need to grind it down and

then repave." today the southbound side of the road between woodsworth and gregory is completely shut down. this framing store isn't the only place closed for the day you can see how high the water got inside. outside, the strip mall parking lot is covered in mud. it *just missed getting inside this quick and easy mart -- one of the few businesses that *did open after the unexpected flooding. >>:"when the break happened, the amount of water that's going in and is mixing with the sand and the rocks and the soil that are underneath the pavement, that will cause the pavement to rise, and then mud and the rock will come out underneath the pavement. that's what you see out on the street." >> reporter:this afternoon workers laid a new section of pipe into the gaping hole in the street. city officials said they expect the actual *repair work to be done by todayand the rest of the paving and cleaningdone by tomorrow. expect this water main break to affect the parade on monday. in pleasant hill, spencer blake, kron four news." fire crews in el dorado and placer counties are still working to contain a wildfire that's been raging since tuesday. >> marty:officials say the 'trailhead' fire, northeast of sacramento has already burned more than 32-hundred acres. as well as threatening nearly 3- thousand homes. mandatory evacuations are in place in parts of both counties. there are voluntary evacuations in other areas as well. the rugged terrain is forcing fire crews to rely heavily on air support. the fire is only 12-percent contained. no structures have been damaged. no word yet on what caused the fire. >> marty:another major wildfire in central california is threatening up to 300 homes in a gated community.

kern county fire officials say the 'deer fire' began friday afternoon and has grown up to nearly 3-square miles. firefigthers are focused on keeping the fire from climbing over a ridge and potentially threatening one-thousand homes in bear valley spring. officials say the fire is torching a large number of dead trees caused by california's four-year drought. firefighters have zero percent containment on this blaze. and a little further south. firefighters are gaining the upper hand on a brush fire in san bernardino. they say that blaze has burned five homes since it broke out yesterday afternoon. it also forced some people who live nearby to evacuate their homes. but by mid-afternoon, the fire was 50-percent contained and it was not growing any more. two firefighters and one person who lives in the area suffered minor injuries. investigators say they have indications that someone may have intentionally started this fire. >> marty:coming up on the kron 4

>> reporter:crystal higby and the rest of her family are counting down to spending the fourth of july on the beach. saying the experience is like none other. sot- "oh, its amazing. we were here last year and its none stop fireworks." independence day along the water becoming a family tradition for this group. but the hope is that everyone who decides to visit the beach monday, does so responsibly, especially while shooting off fireworks. sot- "we're in the beach area, but its still dry and um, there's safety, and theres um, theres a lot of children here so its just super important to make sure everyone's protected." lynn adams says that includes keeping the sand at linda mar and other beaches clean.
