first indication of trouble was that large white truck speeding down the boulevard all though it was closed for track. sarah and her son talked to chrono4 news by phone this morning. >> i saw there was people that started running away from that truck so i grabbed both of my kids and we started running away with thousands and thousands of people into little tiny small streets and you could hear children scream ands they were like crying and screaming for mommy and it was incredible. >> then there was like this group of people screaming running everything. my mom was like, just grabbing us and we were running, running and she told me to catch up. >> they're okay but very shaken. president obama ordered flags to be flown at half staff for the next four days and all federal buildings including the white house in memory of the victims. they'll keep taking out isis

a 12 year-old girl in texas led police on a high speed

pursuit. they found her 7 year-old sister in the car with her when they finally stopped her. the chase reached staggering speeds. >> 120 miles per hour that's how fast police had to drive catch up to that white car. behind the wheel, not a hardened criminal but a 12 year- old girl. as she dodges cars, her 7 year- old sister next to her in the front seat. the girl was stopped after 55- miles. she's been in jail nearly three weeks. >> i'm ready to get this little 12 year-old out of jail. she's been in there coming up 20 days now and it's time. >> but today a judge said no. the girl can't go home because the judge says home isn't safe right now. her grandmother or mother failed a drug test. >> there's a lot more to it than what the public sees. >> the montgomery county attorney doesn't buy that.

this is a developing story and i will bring you all the new details as soon as we learn them. back home we have a day of action to share with you. protesters in support of the black lives matter movement holding rallies in at least 37 cities across the country. >> that's where we find our reporter live tonight. tell us what's going on. right now the protest and rally has wrapped up in protesters said they are going to keep this rally peaceful and they held at the end of the bargain. you can see this place has cleared out. protesters were out here. about 15 minutes ago. take a look in the air you can see in oakland there's a protest going on as we speak. there are 50 people on the streets of oakland right now we know it's peaceful but as you know, with these rallies, things can change quickly. the group in san francisco chanted

the slogan black lives matter while huddled up in a circle on the steps of city hall. the san francisco police department monitored the whole thing. the rally started at around 4 o'clock. people were slow to show up and eventually the crowd filled out. by without here? the recent deadly shooting about instilling in louisiana and slander castile in minnesota for two reasons. others are to -- are here to announce the shootings in dallas. it's interesting to note that hardly in the protesters were black. >> a lot of people don't understand black lives matter. it doesn't mean they're saying went to matter more, they are saying we want to matter as much as so we don't get shot. i'm here to be unified with a fellow san franciscans and do something proactive. check out the rally here on the steps of city hall wrapped up

he is outside a convenience store selling cds at the time. something he had done many times in the past. his death along with a deadly shooting of a black man in minnesota during a traffic stop sparked outrage and nationwide protests. check it now we go back overseas learning more about the man who drove a truck through crowds at bastille day celebration in nice. leaving dozens dead including many children. >> we have the latest on departments today. we're learning more about the 31-year-old tunisian man. authorities say he was known for petty crime, not extremism. before he was killed in a hail of police bullets, hit driven nearly a mile in 1810 rented for traitor truck. you're looking at it here time into as many people as he could. the death toll tonight is at least 84 people have been killed including 10 children, another five children remain in

president obama as ordered flags at all federal buildings to be flown at half staff until sunset on tuesday. three berkeley students injured in that attack. now one other student is still missing tonight. >> we're covering that story with more on that. >> reporter: the focus is on nick leslie. he is in the summer abroad program. we are still missing him tonight . his friends miss him, the university is missing him, they are sending a representative over denise at this time as the search is on. search is on for this man, nick leslie a junior at uc berkeley studying abroad for the summer. he has been missing since the bastille day truck attack. >> we're looking -- we're working with locals and officials trying to account for his location.

>> reporter: three other berkeley students were injured in the attack. one suffered a broken leg, another suffered a broken foot. both have been released from the hospital. 21-year-old whose leg was broken remains hospitalized.>> on nick leslie's facebook page friends are pleading for information. published reports indicate his uncle had heard from friends so he is not hit by the truck. still he's going around to hospitals looking for his nephew. he is a member of net impact berkeley a student run consulting group. he's also a member of the fly garant delta fraternity. friend there says his disappearance is too difficult to talk about. in all, uc berkeley at 85 students in that summer abroad program. they said any decisions you want to come back early because of the attack may do so. four have opted to do that.

we're following breaking news out of oakland were protesters are on the move. they are on an overpass above 980. these are light aerials you can see a car trying to negotiate this demonstration. this is happening as we speak. these aerials are courtesy of your partnership with the helicopter at abc news. protesters have been marching,

they're at 14 and broadway a moment ago. they congregated around 17th and castro. that is 17th street. they are walking above 980. their cross and the overpass right now. traffic has been an issue for people trying to get off of 880. for moments, then shut down the broadway exit. there is six and broadway at that time. people couldn't get off the broadway exit from 880. as you can see there was a short-lived traffic disruption. he she -- you see the 17th street sign right there. they walked east over 17th street. overnight 80 on 17th street and there on the move again and it appears they are trying to disrupt a freeway on- ramp for offramp.

there above 980 in oakland. this has been an evening of protests throughout the country. dozens of march is similar to this happening. we had reports live from san francisco earlier in the broadcast. this one in oakland, not an enormous crowd but they disrupted traffic earlier. last thursday, there was a complete shutdown of 880 for several hours during these black lives matter devastations that have been prevalent throughout the country. especially since last week with the two killings of black men and then the police killings in dallas. we'll keep tabs here. certainly a traffic disruption possibility. it appears there aren't any cars getting by right now i will check back in with these light aerials as soon as we get an update. we're learning much more tonight about those ku klux klan buyers's leading in haight- ashbury neighborhood. >> we talk with a high-ranking

jose. 79 in mountain view, 60 in half moon bay. 64 in pacifica will see a high of 60 degrees in san francisco. 73 in oakland. closer to average in concord, 82 in novato . mid-70s and comfortable, 82 will be your high in petaluma. 80 degrees in santa rosa and 87 in fairfield. our inland temperatures will drop out of the 90s back to the 80s. the low 80s by sunday and monday. for the bay will stay in the low 70s on saturday, sunday and monday down to 70 degrees at the coast into the high 50s. the seven-day forecast shows once we cool things down on sunday, the onshore flow sticks around and that means our temperatures will stay close to average into most of next week. coming up next, a new investigation launched into the deadly nightclub massacre in orlando.

and attempted coup underway in turkey right now. it's unclear who has control of the country. the military or the elected government. we have just learned that large crowds have greeted the president of turkey as he emerges from a vehicle at the airport. a state-run news agency as saying that the leader of the attempted to is a colonel who headed the military legal advisory department and was dismissed on the position a short time ago. this video from the streets of turkey, people are there and support and against the government. a senior turkish official says the coup attempt within the country's military appears to be unsuccessful tonight. it's unclear who has control of the country. reality that people and police officers are hurt and possibly killed. americans in turkey are being advised to shelter in place, not to go outside. it's not safe.

baton. it didn't appear to connect with the devastator. it's unclear what prompted him to do that but this is when a bunch of cruisers from the chp rolled up. this is an attempt to block the protesters from walking on two 980. this is an on-ramp access point . the intersection here if you're familiar with services treats, 17th and brush streets and you can see the 10 officers with chp oakland will go live now because that may give us a broader perspective. to the right there, men and women with the oakland police department. two jurisdictions you can see a crowd that had gathered right there and something of a standoff with police. that scattered a bit. we see the group is marching back across 17th street. that is an overpass running below it. this now 17 and castro.

the group started at 14th and broadway as it typically does in a protest scenario. that's right near oakland city hall. there had been on the move. there are six and broadway for while and have blocked the broadway exit ramp from 880. as a traffic impact at 530. here we are 630 and the on-ramp, to 980 from brush street had been closed for about 20 minutes. but it appears as we see live these areas courtesy of our helicopter partnership, the crowd is moving from the on- ramp point tonight 80. walking back across 17th street to 17th and castro. we continue to follow the situation here. largely peaceful in this protest is part of a national night of protesting throughout the country. there's one in san francisco as well that's not as well attended.
