kron4's ella sogomonian met with the victims and has the story. >> reporter:it was just another day out with his dogs at a local oakland park for robert selhorst. then he says a man he'd never seen before came up - and was at first polite. >> :"this guy walks up with a puppy and he asked if the puppy can come in and play with my dogs and i've got three big dogs." >> reporter:selhorst's dog ruth crawled under the fence and approached the puppy. shortly after, the situation escalated into a fight for their lives. >> :"but then i grabbed my dog and she's cut wide open and i'm like oh my god what did you do to my dog? and then i looked over and he's swinging back again with the knife." >> reporter:his ex girlfriend who shares custody of the pets got a call from a neighbor about the frightening news. elana kreydick >> :"she didn't know what was happening so she said rob says your dogs are dying that was the first call that i got." >> reporter:selhorst walked away with a cut on his forehead - but

two of his dogs -carolina and ruth were in grave condition as their stab wounds were deep. ella sogomonian >> :"this is carolina, she is the second dog that was stabbed in that incident you can see she has two stitches on the right side of her body that will eventually heal, but she did lose a considerable amount of weight due to the stress." >> marty:the victim described that attacker to have a dark skin tone, about 6 feet tall, and a in the north bay. one of the men suspected of robbing an armored car in windsor, last week is also suspected of committing a similar crime in southern california. police say 24-year-old sergey gustev confessed to killing a quizno's sandwich shop owner during a robbery last year. gustev could now face charges for that murder. earlier this week, gustev and 23-year-old ivan morales were arrested for robbing and shooting an armored car driver with an assault weapon. the pair are also accused of robbing another armored car back in march.

chattanooga residents remembered the one year anniversary of the terrorist attack that killed five servicemen in tennessee. mohammad abdulazeez fatally shot one sailor and four marines at two military recruiting offices.. yesterday, the city held a ceremony honoring the men that were killed. a bell rang after each name was read. one chattanooga resident says attending this type of event is very emotional. chattanooga officials say the city will honor the servicemen every year on july 16. the fbi says abdulazeez was influenced by terrorist propaganda. >> marty:he was later killed by police. friends and family members said their final goodbyes to patrick zamarripa *zam-uh-ree'-puh*.

he was one of the five officers killed by a gunman in dallas last week. his funeral service was held for zamarripa in fort worth. the 32-year-old served eight years in the navy before joining the dallas police force. police chief david brown spoke at the service talking about his willingness to serve others. the navy recognized zamarripa's dedication and promoted him to petty officer first class. he leaves behind a wife and two children. >> marty:the pokemon go craze continues to be a hit around the bay area. but many "pokemon trainers" will have a problem trying to catch em all.

that's because the game keeps crashing. the issues with the game are happening as "pokemon go" launches in 26 new countries. however, a hacking group called "poodle-corp" claims responsibility for the server crash. nintendo and pokemon officials have yet to comment on the game's malfunction. pokemon go is so popular that it has led to several public events across the country. from packed baseball stadiums, to pubs, "pokemon go" is attracting fans from all walks of life. an example of this is at a baseball park in ohio. >> marty:officials opened the stadium for the public to play "pokemon go" for 2 hours to raise money for charity. fans pay 5 dollars to get in. and once inside they roamed the stadium to try and "catch em all". at pubs across the country, club owners are throwing "pub crawls". at these special events "pokemon go" lovers chase down wild pokemon and battle each other. and you don't have to go far to attend a "pokemon go crawl" event. they are happening here in the bay area.
