is pretty chilly out there for the runner, getting a little bit of relief from the heat earlier in the last week. bay bridge looks great as well, looking at rather -- traffic very light, getting into downtown san francisco, not going to be an issue so far at this point. switching things over to the san mateo span right now, where the overcast skies continue here, but it's pretty smooth sailing across the entire span right now. and the richmond bridge westbound 580, just a couple of cars on the left hand side, not bad. and planning your day today, heading out the door, you're going to want to have a jacket now, but by noontime, you can peel that off buzz the warm temperature -- because the warm temperatures will be returning with a lot of sunshine expected today. breaking overnight, one woman is dead and another four are injured after two shootings in texas. police arrested one person and are now looking for another

shooter. here's the new video into the kron4 newsroom, police received multiple calls of shots fired after midnight pacific time. three other women were injured. three were taken to the hospital. police said that the shooter fired into a crowd of people. the shooter is still at large this morning. and the second shooting happened in a parking gr raj when a man dr garage when a man fired off shots in an aggravated assault. the assault victim was taken to the hospital, his injuries are not serious. but it's not clear if anyone in the parking garage was hit by gunfire. austin's police chief says that the incidents were not related. and happening now, over 26,000 people are racing in this year's annual san francisco marathon, the 26 mile race kicked off at 5 po -- 5:30. there are road closures. more on the race and the road

closures, avery. >>reporter: yeah, i'm just at the finish line, the first runner is getting ready to cross the finish line, right now. there are 26,000 people running in this race today, and i wanted to show you, i think he's coming right now, he is coming, i just want to wait and so you guys can see the first runner come through. he might not be running through right now. the starting line, this is the 26.2 mile run, through the city, you can hear all of the cheers of the people, because that first runner is coming through. along the way, they put all of the san francisco land mashes, fisherman's wharf, the golden gate bridge, this is a tough course, i talked to part of the marathon race staff and he ran the race before. what the runners about to experience as they cross the finish line. >> it's probably one of the most

the coming months. there will be an express shuttle service to accommodate customers who would normally ride the train. bart crews say they're working to make sure that sound dampenning equipment, in an effort to make customer's rides quieter. a story you saw first here on the kron4 news, a grandmother was attacked after having her car stolen twice in one week. the police arrested two of the suspected thieves. kron4 spencer blake spoke to the grandmother and has the story. >>reporter: it was right here in this neighborhood that a woman's car was stole rngs found and then stolen again. the bad guys beat her up in the process. but now that woman has her car back, she says she's glad to know one of her neighbors is locked up t. woman this shadow belonged to, felt it safest not to show her face. she's standing on the curb where her car was stolen earlier. she found the car a few houses away from her own. >> this was in my neighborhood,

and down the street, like five houses down from my neighborhood, and i would see them, and i would pass, and i would say hello. >>reporter: when she hopped in to drive it home, the thieves put up a fight. >> got in the passenger's seat and pulled my mom out of the kashgs pushed her out of the car. >>reporter: she ended up with this road rage, and a few other minor injuries. but she noticed the trail the robbers left with her stolen credit cards. the carjackers spending her money. >> one of the things the officer told me was he was a vej administered gun -- registered gun owner and i didn't feel safe with him knowing where i live and my family. so again, now, i'm happier now, he's arrested and i can feel more relaxed now. >> her daughter put up a facebook blast and got a huge response about the guy. one suspect is arrested and in

the reason for -- on avocados, the reason for higher prices and the significant shortage in year's harvest. the average price has jumped up from 93 cents per avocado to more than a dollar. in mexico, suppliers grow avocados year round, but the june harvest was low. a heat wave ruined most of california's crop. the federal reserve has decided not to bump up interest rates over the summer. there were indications a rate chould change this month, but -- could change this month, after several good reports, the high eing slowed and after great britain voted to leave the europeanion union, analysts say an interest rate is likely to happen before the end of the year. coming up on the kron4 news weekend, bart officials closed an east bay station for several hours due to a freak occurrence. what happened, that's next. and taking a live look outside right now, at the approach to

bridge, we have already much the fog, definitely, especially along the coast and you're going to see the gray skies continue throughout the morning, but it's going to clear, but it's lightly travelled if you're going to be taking the san mateo bridge soon this morning. richmond bridge, looking good, getting out to the noshlth bay, just a minor back up on the left side of your screen. and some of the cash lanes, but other than that, it will be a problem for your drive and n and out of the north bay. current temperature, bundle up if you're making your way out of the door any time soon this morning, it's mostly 50s and low 60s around the bay area. but the warmup is on the way. i'll have full details, that's coming up next. and the bay area news, a new video has many questioning the tactics used by the bart police officers. this video shows an arrest made right near the bart tracks, in san francisco, many witnesses say the suspect did nothing wrong, one facebook witness said that two black teenagers were bothering an older white man who called the police. the two were trying to get away when an officer put his knee against one of their backs and

an officer on the scene pulled a gun out, but did not shoot. the bart conducter actually encouraged the witnesses to report the incident and hundreds of witnesses filmed the incident. >> they have it closed off and i have to go around the other side. it's inconvenient. i spent all day on my feet. in the east bay, a fire on the bart tracks cause delays in walnut creek, officials shut down the station for a couple of hours, as the crews worked on the tracks. fire officials are calling this a freak accident. and kron4 spoke with riders who got stuck in the delays and has the details on what could have caused this fire. >>reporter: a fire broke out on westbound tracks at the bart walnut creek station before 3:00 in the afternoon saturday. no trains were there at the time. contra costa fire crews put the blaze out in under a man. >> it was likely that it was a power pickup paddle, on the side of the bart car, picks up the

powder from the rail. sometimes those get stuck in an up position and they make contact with the fiberglass covering, which would have the potential to set it on fire. >>reporter: but just that minute, caused up to an hour of delays for some bart passengers. and those waiting for them. >> i've got a text about an hour ago, to come pick up but still not arrived yet. but still here. >>reporter: the station closed for 45 minutes, while bart electricians assessed the damage. the eastbound track was then reopened forcing bart shuttles to use one lane, adding to the commute times. >> everybody who got off the train was up it s. cursing. crazy. >>reporter: others were more optimistic about the experience and say their commute wasn't badly affected by the fire. >> going slow, it was still pretty much faster than the freeways. and in monterrey county, a fire near big sur has burned 35,000 acres. 57 homes have been destroy

because of the fire. the monterrey county sheriff's office has ordered many people to evacuate the area. some people were able to return to their hopes but then when they returned, they came back to destroyed neighborhoods. >> it just took up one of our oldest community members, took him to his house, i want you to find out for me and i know you need to see it. >> one person died in the fire. and more than 5,000 firefighters are battling the week-long wildfire. fire crews say they believe the fire will linger until the end of august, south blowing winds have kept the fire from moving up north into more heavily populated areas. but the south end of the fire has been a struggle for firefighters dealing with high temperatures and extremely low humidity. and in southern california, upper hand on the sand firee burning near santa clarita. the wildfire has burned nearly 39,000 acres and now at 93% contained. nearly 1700 firefighters are

working to control this fire. and in california news, the mayor of stockton says he is in shock after one of the two guns stolen from him last year was used in a murder. many are angry at mayor anthony silva because he failed to notify the police after the gun was stolen from him. prosecutors say a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed by a gun registered to silva. silva did not report the gun stolen until a month after the murder. and critics say the mayor believe he should be held accountable. this is what the mayor had to say about the shooting. >> still in shock, and i'm heart broken and you know, all i can say is you know, my deepest sympathies and condolences to the family. >> i wouldn't have known because i didn't live in the house. >> the gun was recovered by the police after a domestic disturbance. well, for the first time, since may, there is a powerball winner, one lucky person in new

welcome back to the kron4 news weekend, as we take a live look outside, this is our camera at the golden gate bridge now, it's socked in with the fog and the san francisco marathon well underway, folks have been out there since 5:30 this morning, so they're definitely getting a nice, cool run, as they're working up a sweat. you can see what it looks like for the 8:00 hour, you can see it's really socked in for the north bay and along the peninsula, along the coast we have some through oakland and hayward as well. but as we advance forward ahead, it will start mixing out. some of will stick around and lit come back out as we advance toward tsz the evening hours -- towards the evening hours, getting into overnight. fully returning and you're going to be waking up to a similar story tomorrow morning. on the cool side right now,

now. the bay bridge, toll plaza, pretty light getting into san francisco right now and the gray skies continue here as well. bundle up this morning. san mateo span, problem-free for # 2 in either -- 92 in either direction. smooth sailing and the overcast skies continue here. it will be clearing out, throw around 11:00 and noontime. this looks good if you're travelling here, a minor wait in some of those cash lanes but other than that, it will be an easy ride once you get on to the span, no delays reported and we are looking at highs today, it's going be quite warm, especially if you're inland, it's going to be cooler as far as what we've seen the last couple of week, but we still have a 92 creeping up in livermore, 80s for fairfield and concord at 85. 70s around the bay, 60s along the coast. on the peninsula, a boy from elk grove died after the car he was in rolled over in redwood city friday night around 8:30 on the whip l avenue off ramp.

the 17-year-old was found on the pavement after being ejected from the car. he later died at the hospital. and an investigators say the car was speeding in the far left lane when the driver then veered to the right, crossing all lanes to exit the freeway. that's when the car hit an suv, causing the driver to lose control. the driver suffered minor injuries. everyone was wearing a seat belt, and police say it does not appear that the drugs or alcohol played a part in the incident. in the south bay, a fire has burned over a 100 and 20 acres -- 120 acres in san jose, the fire was reported at around 6:00 yesterday evening. it's burning around sierra road in eastern san jose. take a look at another video sent in by a viewer, cal fire says it's 70% contained and there are homes in the area. drivers are being turn add way at sierra road where the sheriffs have blocked off the passage way. two helicopters dumping

retardant on the flames as well. you can see. >> never actually, this is the first time that there's been a strong fire back here. a lot of brush coming up here with the fires, but we've made barriers to protect against the firewall. the pastures and all of that for the horses. >> there are 13 major fires burning across california in addition to the latest sierra fire. and in national news. 16 people are dead after a hot air balloon crashed in central texas, you first broke the story yesterday morning during the kron4 news weekend. and kron4 reports on what witnesses say prior to the crash. >>reporter: a horrific sight in central texas. a hot air balloon caught fire, slammed into the ground, and killed all 16 people on board. the balloon may have hit power lines before the crash. >> i don't think any of them even realized what was going on

because we heard the popping sounds, and i didn't look in time to see the balloon go down. but the way it went up, i don't think any of them had any idea what was going on. >>reporter: the balloon belonged to a company called heart of texas, hot air balloon rides. >> i heard a swoosh, you know, like a swooshing sound and then it just -- a big ball of fire up. >>reporter: the faa and the ntsb are investigating. officials say it will take several days to collect evidence and interview witnesses. >> you have coordination with a number of resources here, local state and federal, getting the documentation, much like a crime scene. you only get one chance at it, we want to make hur we do everything correctly. >>reporter: texas governor greg abbott called this a heartbreaking tragedy, and asked all of texas to pray for the families of the victims. a sunny field in texas, now the sight of the deadliest hot air

balloon crash in u.s. history. and in san diego, a police officer who survived a deadly shooting is now alert, and awake. police chief shelley zimmerman announced wade irwin is on his way to full recovery, on thursday, irwin and another officer, were shot while they were making a stop. when the police responded to the calls for help, that's when they found guzman wounded and irwin dead. >> just in the last few weeks, across our great country. it is tragic for everyone. >> two suspects have been arrested in the shooting. irwin has been on the police force for nine years and from salis. fresno -- from t train conductor says he sounded the horn multiple times, but the man didn't react. police don't though why the man was on the tracks.

it's not clear if he had left the hospital, he was believed to be about 47 years old. in decision 2016, the democratic presidential nominee and her vp hit the cam train thal this weekend, the fib are investigating a computer hack in the campaign, following the dnc data breach. diana gallagher reports on the recent hacking. >>reporter: hillary clinton and tim kaine debuting at the democratic party as presidential ticket this weekend as they continue their three-day bus tour through pennsylvania and ohio, highlighting their economic vision. but for many, the spotlight has been on clinton's recent campaign data breach, that the fbi and justice department are investigating in addition to the dnc hacks. the clinton camp released a statement saying the internal systems were not compromised but was, however, a data program. used by the campaign that was maintained by the dnc. a clinton aide says that the

in national news, a woman from oklahoma is facing child neglect charges after she says she sdeptly gave her baby -- accidentally gave her baby formula mixed with vodka. she went out drinking friday night and filled a water bottle with vodka. when she returned home, a friend put the water bottle next to the baby's items and she made it formula for the morning. the woman realized something was wrong, when she could smell coming from the child's breath. a friend of the mother says this was all a big mistake. >> just a freak incident. a freak incident. she always loved her kids, she has three. >> hospital staff members say the four-month-old girl had a blood alcohol level of 0.19%. the woman was arrested and facing charges, the police have not addressed the baby's condition this morning. coming up, changes have been made at twin peaks. to the cheers of some people,

attraction offering spectacular views of the bay area. twin peaks, it is offering a dish of behavior. the new traffic rules on twin peaks. >>reporter: as tour buses pour into twin peaks, changes are being made as i speak. new rules to follow and old rules to break. allow me to explain. it's being called the twin peaks pilot promenade. it's a two-year test, which will change almost everything you know about twin peaks. as the signs go up, so will the size. from motorists, most of them regs and tour companiess. but for the pedestrians, and the cyclists, they have an area free from cars, buses or trucks. plus, they get a fantastic view. and there'll be a zero chance of your car being burglarized because there will be no cars. the important thing is to remember t roadway that was once used as a one-way is now a

two-way and bicyclists are permitted for use of the lanes. the stop sign is not new, so it should not be ignored by anyone, this means cyclists and especially tour bus drivers. the fact is, here at twin peaks, this is the most ignored stop sign despite all of the traffic and pedestrians walking around, some drivers simply refuse to stop. but there's another problem, and it has to do with this sign. tour buses have one way in and one way out. but some choose to take the road less travelled. basically ignoring the no tour bus signs f. you've never been to twin peaks, i highly recommend it, but bring your jacket, it's usually 20 degrees cooler than on the flat lands. the rules for the road have changed, there are roads to keep you on track, but always the person that believes that gps is always right. if this two-year pilot program is a success, it can become a normal way of life. and a safer place for cyclists

kron4 newsroom. police received multiple calls of shots fired. a woman was killed and three other women were injured. three were taken to the hospital. police said the shooter fired into a crowd of people. the shooter is still at large this morning. the shooting happened at a parking garage. people near by disarmed them and held them for police. the assault victim was taken to the hospital. his in -- his injuries are not serious. austin's police chief said the incidents were not related. and happening now over 26,000 people are racing in this year's annual san francisco marathon. the 26-mile race kicked off at5:30 this morning. there's several road closures making it a little difficult for people trying to make it through the city. more on the race and the road

that a woman's car was stolen, found and stolen again. the bad guys beat her up in the process but now that woman has her car back and is glad to know that one of her neighbors is locked up. the woman this shadow belongs to felt it safest not to show her face. she's standing on the curb where her car was stolen earlier this week. purse, credit cards and all. a few weeks later she found her credit card a few houses away from her own. >> this gentleman was in my neighborhood. about five houses down the street in my neighborhood. i would see them, they would pass and see me go. >> they got in the passenger's seat and pushed my mom out of the car. >> reporter: she ended up with road rash and a few other injuries. she was able to get surveillance video from a few extra stores of the carjackers spending her money. >> one of the things the officers told me was that he was a registered gun owner and that being said, i didn't feel

weather wise as far as current temperatures definitely bundle up if you're heading out the door. a chilly 61 in oakland right now. san jose coming in at 63 degrees. planning your day here's what you need to know by noontime that's when we're going to see lots of sunshine and warm temperatures kick in. by 3:00 we might have low 90s for system of our warmest inland spots. bay area news, a new video has many questioning the tactics used by bart police officers. this video shows an arrest made at the bart tracks in san francisco. many witnesses say the suspect did nothing wrong. one facebook witness said that two black teenagers were bothering an older white man who called police. the two were trying to get away when an officer put his knee against one of their backs. an officer on scene pulled out a gun but did not shoot. the bart conductor encouraged people to report the incident

and hundreds of witnesses filmed it. >> like they have it closed off and now i have to go around to the other side. it's just inconvenient. i literally spent all day on my feet. >> in the east bay, a fire on the bart tracks caused delays. officials shut down the station for a couple of hours as crews worked on the tracks. fire officials are calling this a freak accident. who got stuck in the delays and have details on what could have caused this fire. >> a fire broke out on westbound tracks just before 3:00 in the afternoon saturday. no trains were there at the time. contra costa fire crews responded to this scene and put the blaze out in about a minute. >> it's likely it was a power pick up paddle which picked up the car. sometimes those get stuck in an up position if they do that they make contact with that fiberglass covering which has

they return, they came back to destroyed neighborhoods. >> i just took up one of our old community members, took him to his house and he said i want you to find out from me and i know you need to see it. >> one person died in the fire and more than 5,000 firefighters are battling the week long wildfire. fire crews say they believe the fire will linger until about the end of august. south flowing winds have kept the fire from moving up north into more heavily populated areas. but the south end of the fire has been a real struggle dealing with fire dangers and extremely low humidity. in southern california, firefighters are getting the upper hand on the sand fire burning near santa clarita. the wildfire has burned nearly 39,000 acres and is now 93% contained. nearly 1,700 firefighters are working to control this fire. in california news, the mayor of stockton says he is in shock after one of the two guns

stolen from him last year was used in a murder. many are angry at the mayor anthony silva because he failed to notify police after the gun was stolen from him. prosecutors say a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed by a gun registered to silva. silva did not report the gun stolen until a month after it was stolen. here's what the mayor had to say. >> i'm still in shock, heartbroken. all i can say is you know my deepest sympathies and condolences to the family. >> the gun was recovered last week after a domestic disturbance. from there, officials revealed silva was the original opener. one lucky person in new hampshire matched six out of the six winning numbers. we also have one winner in

welcome back, traffic pretty light on 101 so that's the good news. switching things over now to the bay bridge. it's been pretty light getting into san francisco it still remains that way so far in the westbound 80 commute. we saw the overcast skies as you make your way into san francisco. this will be your view if you're leaving your home any time soon. san mateo bridge looks good in the 92 in both directions. no problems on the span. but of course we still have that stubborn fog sticking around this morning. into the richmond bridge, that's in the left hand side of the screen but once you get on to the bridge itself it's going to be smooth failing in that

connection with 101. we still have a 92 for liver more expected. and 60s along the coast. on the peninsula a boy from elk grove died after the car he was in rolled over in redwood city. it happened friday night at around 8:30. the boy was found on the pavement, he was rushed to the hospital but died. the driver suffered minor injuries. everyone was wearing a seat belt. and police say it does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a part in the incident. in the south bay, a fire

has burned over 120 acres in san jose. you're looking at video that was sent to us from our viewers. the video was reported at around 6:00 yesterday evening. it's burning around sierra road in eastern san jose. take a look at another video sent in by a viewer. calfire reports it's now at 75% containment. there are homes in the area, drivers are being turned away at sierra road where sheriffs have blocked off the passage way. you can see a couple of helicopters flying back and forth dropping retardant on the flames. officers say they have never seen anything like this before. >> this is actually the first time we've had a pretty strong fire up here. there's a strong risk with the fires and all that. we've made barriers, to protect against the fire wall like 50 yards out. calfire reports there are 13 major fires burning across california in addition to this latest sierra fire.

tour companies. but for the pedestrians and the cyclists they have an area free from cars, buses or cars. plus this they get a fantastic view and there'll be zero chance of your car to be burglarized because there will be no cars. but the important thing to remember. first off the roadway that was once used as a one way is now a two way. and bicyclists are still permitted for use of the lanes. also the stop sign at twin peaks and christmas tree point is not new. so it should not be ignored by anyone. this means cyclists and especially tour bus drivers. the fact is, here at twin peaks, this is the most ignored stop sign despite all the traffic and pedestrians walking around, some drivers have to refuse to stop. but there's another problem and has to do with this sign. tour buses have one way in and one way out. but some choose to take the road less traveled. basically ignoring the no tour bus signs. if you've every been to twin
