>> vicki:the embattled chancellor of u-c davis. linda katehi. has resigned. the decision comes after an independent investigation on ethics violations. u-c president janet napolitano says the investigation found several instances where katehi was not candid with her office. she stated that katehi exercised poor judgement and violated university policies. katehi has been on leave since april. today her lawyer released a letter saying katehi had been cleared of wrong doing. katehi plans on returning to teaching. a fire burning since last month in monterey county grew by more than six thousand acres overnight. >> grant:fire officials say the soberanes fire north of big sur is heading south toward big sur creek and double cone. comunities north of that area can expect unhealthy amounts of smoke. the fire started with an illegal campfire at garra-pata state park. nearly 5 thousand firefighters are working to put of the flames.
