wrightwood area. the cause of the fire is being investigated. and the sheriff's department arrested these three people for looting. they are accused of trying to steal farm equipment. patrolling for looters in fire zones is extremely dangerous. it puts the lives of firefighters, police and even the accused thieves at risk. we are learning the wildfire burning in monterey county should be fully contained by the end of september. the soberanes fire burned more than 81-thousand acres. it started on july 22nd by an illegal campfire left abandoned at garrapata state park. the fire is 60- percent contained this morning. several evacuation orders are still in place. officials say.410- structures are still threatened. a big story we are following.in

san jose a newborn baby delivered after his mother died in a crash is improving this morning. doctors upgraded baby christopher's condition from critical to serious yesterday. his mother, 18-year-old dulce capetillo was a passenger in a car crash early wednesday morning in san jose. she was rushed to the hospital and later died during surgery. doctors managed to save christopher who was born two- months premature. a spokesperson at valley medical center in san jose said the newborn's condition is quote- "better." coming up. a mother of two is paralyzed in an accident at a bay area park. we talk to the husband on how the family is staying hopeful that she will walk again. plus. a bay area restaurant wants to give that naked donald trump statue a permanent home. a look at the legal issues holding up that plan. and a health alert to expecting mothers. the ways your diet can affect the health of your child is next on kron four.

berkeley police are searching for a gunman who was involved in a late night deadly shooting. it happened near mabel and burnett streets just before midnight on thursday. police found an unresponsive man at the scene. he was later pronounced dead at the hospital currently there are no suspects but investigators say it does not appear to be a random shooting. this is the city's first homicide of the year. >> marty:also in the east bay. police are now offering a reward for information that will lead them to a gunman who shot and killed a teenager in richmond. police say 19-year old kori mattie of oakley was found with multiple gunshot wounds near 24th street and nevin avenue two weeks ago. mattie later died from her injuries. officers say she was riding her bike to a friends house when she was shot. richmond police are offering 10 thousand dollars for information leading to an arrest. decision 20-16. by now, you've probaly seen pictures of the naked donald trump statue that appeared in the castro district.

overnight, city officials removed the statue. and now, there is an effort to preserve it. rebecca, what is being done so give the statue a permanent home. >> rebecca:right now the statue is in police custody. but a restaurant wants to take it in as there own. the owner of san francisco's lefty o'douls is working with supervisor scott weiner to save the statue. supervisor weiner is in charge of the castro district where the statue was placed. they both want to give the trump statue a permamnet home at lefty o'douls restaurant. but there several legal issues holding up that plan.

>> marty:in the east bay. a day after we showed you this surveillance video and warned you about purse thefts happenign in public places, another victim has come forward. now we have learned that one of restaurants where the crime happened is offering a reward. kron4's haaziq madyun shows us how the alleged thieves operate. >> reporter:this is the video of two women suspected of stealing a wallet from a customer who placed her purse on the floor of the rooftop restaurant in walnut creek "the two girls were sitting right here and the family was sitting at these two tables pushed together" breanne morgan is a hostess here at rooftop. she recalls that the two women decided to seat themselves.which is unusual at this restaurant "yeah it was a little bit weird because the entire restaurant was pretty much empty and they specifically chose that table right there, after they told me they were just going to look around, they told me that they weren't going to eat here, then they sat down, and i asked them what was going on? and they said, yay, we can seat ourselves right? i said you told me you were just looking around but you can sit there if you want to" >> :"the suspects did come in and pretty much cased out the table that they wanted" >> reporter:walnut creek police investigators say that over a 3 week period ending on august 5th the two suspects stole 3 wallets from purses at 3 different restaurants. after each theft two women were caught

on surveillance videos committing credit card fraud. investigators say after this video went public police a 4th victim came forward. the ownership of rooftop is now offering a $,1000 reward for someone to come forward with information leading to the arrests of the two suspects "yeah, our ownership is just upset that this has happening in our area of downtown walnut creek and they'd like to offer up a $1000 reward, you know, to help find these two women and set an example that you can't come into walnut creek and steal peoples personal belongings, we're watching you on cameras, we're glad we have the footage and we hope someone turns in some information on these two" in walnut creek haaziq madyun kron4news >> marty:in millpitas. police are warning the public about a kidnapping scam targetting parents. here is how it works. you first get a call from an unkown number. on the other end of the line -- you hear screaming. then, someone says "mom help". a man then gets on the phone and orders you to wire money to mexico to ensure your daughters safety. in the case police told us about, the person who got the call did just that. and soon after found out it was a scam. police say if you get a call like this -- call law enforcement right away.

in national news. south florida's zika virus worries have expanded. health officials have identified miami beach as the second site of zika transmission by mosquitoes in the u-s. rebecca strom is here with how this could effect the tourism business in that city. rebecca? >> rebecca:marty, health officials have now issued a travel warning for pregnant women and anyone else traveling to that area. so far, five cases of zika have been connected to miami beach. that brings the state's total to 36 zika infections that are not related to travel outside the u- s. city officials say two of the infected people are county residents. the three others are tourists including one man and two women.

highrise buildings and windy conditions have made it difficult for officials to kill off the mosquito. the miami beache's mayor says the city is doing everything in its power to get rid of the problem. wynwood, which is just north of miami had been previously identified as another infection zone. possible infections outside wynwood and miami beach also are being investigated. marty, back to you. >> marty:and here in the bay area. about three dozen people have the zika virus. all of them were infected while traveling abroad. and according to the san mateo

in national news. south florida's zika virus worries have expanded. health officials have identified miami beach as the second site of zika transmission by mosquitoes in the u-s. rebecca strom is here with how this could effect the tourism business in that city. rebecca? >> rebecca:marty, health officials have now issued a travel warning for pregnant women and anyone else traveling to that area. so far, five cases of zika have been connected to miami beach. that brings the state's total to 36 zika infections that are not related to travel outside the u- s. city officials say two of the infected people are county residents. the three others are tourists including one man and two women.

in national news. south florida's zika virus worries have expanded. health officials have identified miami beach as the second site of zika transmission by mosquitoes in the u-s. rebecca strom is here with how this could effect the tourism business in that city. rebecca? >> rebecca:marty, health officials have now issued a travel warning for pregnant women and anyone else traveling to that area. so far, five cases of zika have been connected to miami beach. that brings the state's total to 36 zika infections that are not related to travel outside the u- s. city officials say two of the infected people are county residents. the three others are tourists including one man and two women. highrise buildings and windy conditions have made it difficult for officials to kill off the mosquito. the miami beache's mayor says the city is doing everything in its power to get rid of the problem. wynwood, which is just north of miami had been previously identified as another infection zone. possible infections outside wynwood and miami beach also are being investigated. marty, back to you.

>> marty:and here in the bay area. about three dozen people have the zika virus. all of them were infected while traveling abroad. and according to the san mateo county mosquito vector control, the likelyhood of the virus spreading to others is small. this is the mosquito that carries the virus. it is not native to the bay area. and there is no established population of the mosquito here. officials say the only way the virus can spread is if someone who already has the virus is bitten by a local mosquito. then in turn that mosquito bites you while the infection is still active. >> marty:live look outside. from

>> marty:on the peninsula. school districts in san mateo county are conducting water quality testing this fall. school officials say there is no reason to believe their water is contaminated. the tests are being done to ensure student safety. the san mateo county office of education serves more than 94- thousand students in the bay area. happening now. hundreds of freshman at san jose state are not getting the dorm rooms they signed up for. the construction of the campuses newest 10-story housing building is several weeks behind schedule. many freshman were expecting to move into that dorm today. now, they are set to temporarly live in campus dorm rooms from the 19-60's that were slated for demolition. san jose state says they have hired professional movers to help students transfer over to the new dorm once it is completed. and to sweeten the deal they are also giving out free sweatshirts and a 150 dollar credit for on- campus dining. >> marty:legendary civil rights leader, congressman john lewis has spent his life fighting for justice. in a series of books called 'march', the 76- year old congressman is still leading the fight for social justice to this day. he spoke with kron four's pam moore and told her why he is called 'the conscious of the u.s. congress'. there is now talk of adding congressman lewis' trilogy of books to the school curriculum in a number of school districts including san francisco.
