in oakland. two teens are under arrest after an overnight home invasion robbery. two elderly residents were hurt recovering tonight as kron4's haaziq madyun reports. investigators believe the suspects are connected to hours earlier. >> reporter:two teenage boys suspected of breaking their way into this home on sequoyah road in oakland.two elderly residents were inside >>:"there was forced entry in there and an assault that occurred" opd investigators say the home invasion happened around 230am tuesday morning. the suspects got away with personal property belonging to the victims. a cadillac sedan was also taken right out of this drive way. 2 hours later an unrelated opd traffic stop of a red van that was carjacked monday led to the arrests of the two juvenile suspects. opd officer marcos marquez explains how that happened >>:"in essence i wouldn't call it lucky, i would call it officers out on patrol, that is their duty, to be proactive, the individuals in there were safely detained and taken into custody, loss from the residence on sequoyah road was recovered as well as a replica firearm that was reported in the carjacking" >> reporter:however investigators say the home invasion victim's 2001 cadillac sedan, champagne/gold in color with a california license plate of 4tla277 is still missing this elderly resident was treated for his injuries on the scene. his housemate was taken away by ambulance

>> vicki:governor brown today signed a new law to aggressively go after water guzzlers. the measure takes effect january first. it requires all water districts to create rules to identify and punish people who use too much water during droughts. policies would include fines or a rate system that charges more for using large amounts of water. san mateo state senator jerry hill says the legislation was prompted by news reports that some residents used millions of

gallons of excessive water despite the state's ongoing drought. an estimated 400 students were told to stay home from school this morning because of a plumbing problem at westlake elementary in daly city. the district superintendent says the school had a clogged sewage line last week that they thought they'd cleared but the blockage turned out to have just traveled further down. this morning a maintenance crew discovered backed up drains in the two student bathrooms and boiler room. our students were not able to use their bathrooms and flush. and we were not able to get portable bathrooms in time for start of school and so for the safety and comfort students and staff we decided to cancel school for the day. the clog was cleared later in the day and the city flushed their mains as well to make sure it wasn't a problem on their end. school will be back open tomorrow morning.

an update for you now on a story we brought you involving an east bay girl... who was hit by a taxi cab as she was crossing the street with her mother. lilia bartlow suffered two broken legs and was forced to be in a wheelchair... but today... as kron 4's terisa estacio shows us, in this my kron-4 story...lilia not only went back to school... but she went back in style. q. what is that? what do you see? that is a fire truck - heading back to school is certainly exciting, but for lillia bartlow, this is day is monumental- nats - crying - tears - this was lillia back in the spring - her spirit crushed as she sat in a wheelchair with two broken legs. and here she is learning how to walk again - in physical therapy. for the once happy, lively girl, this has been an excruiating journey. in march, as she and her mother were in the cross walk leaving john muir elementary school in berkeley, the two were hit by a taxi cab driver - cited for failing to yeild to a pedestrian. lillia was pinned under the car. >>:nats: voice of lillia bartlow/girl hit by car back to school this is for when i need to be positive. >> reporter:lillia showed me her bracelet she created to help herself through this tough time. and on this day - all of hard work and postive thinking paid off - bouncing out of her home, on her own two feet - lillia leaped into the arms of a fire fighter who lifted her up into a fire truck. it was as if she was cinderella herself, but instead of the ball, it was the first day of school and a fire truck

we bring you breaking news tonight... authorities are on scene after responding to reports of a suspicious device on south fourth street in san jose. a violent home invasion robbery has rattled nerves of residents in a quiet east bay neighborhood investigators have two suspects in custody. however, as kron4's haaziq madyun has learned, the fact that two vulnerable, older people were injured in this home invasion. has alarmed the neighborhood this elderly man in his 80's was injured during a violent home invasion robbery early tuesday morning here on sequoyah road in oakland. his 70 year old housemate was here as well. he was hospitalized due to his injuries. the incident has rattled nerves in this quiet oakland neighborhood >> reporter: was the head of emergency and essential a ban on patrol. and what they did is:

of the most common mental disorders in the united states. a new study indicates that there are problems with both diagnosis and treatment in the united states. some people with depression, never get the help they need. while some people get treatment for the disorder without reporting any of the symptoms. kim hutcherson. with our partners at c-n-n. has some alarming numbers. >> reporter:a new study published by the journal of the american medical association indicates that most americans with depression receive no treatment. researchers at columbia university medical center and the university of pennsylvania found that less than a third of adults who screen positive for major depression receive any sort of treatment for the disorder. for those who *are treated for severe psychological distress -- less than half are seen by a mental health specialist. the new survey examined data from 46-thousand adults -- including depressive symptoms, treatment options and other variables that incorporate age, gender, race and education level. the study *also found that some people who *were being treated for depression might not be depressed at all. data indicated that - among those receiving treatment for depression-- two-thirds did not report symptoms of serious psychological distress. the senior author of the study says the results indicate that
