driving a white nissan rogue with no license plate. a 22-year-old woman is recovering this morning after she fell from a skyway on top of a warehouse during a music festival in oakland. it happened on third street between filbert and market streets. she wanted a better view so she and other concertgoers climbed up to the roof. the woman fell about 25 feet from the skylight. first responders say that she was conscious and responding when they got there, and she was hospitalized. firefighters on the front lines of several major wildfires burping in northern california including this fast growing fire in the sierra nevada foothills. two homes have been destroyed in what is being called the saldz fire south of paradise. the fire started around 4:30 yesterday afternoon and quickly exploded to 400 acres. containment is only at 10%.

oakland and fremont at 84, berkeley about 69. but here they are pleasanton 9 3, antioch 94, brentwood 96. so for tomorrow we'll try 97 as an average high in the inland veassments by wednesday the bay meanwhile reaching around 80. and for thursday backing off just a little bit to around 88. the extended forecast in just a bit. back to you. >> thanks a lot. 6:17, breaking news, fire crews mopping up after a fire broke out in san francisco early this morning. james fletcher is at the breaking news desk. >> that fire broke out about 2:00 this morning on haight street. we actually have video just in this morning showing you the scene here as crews were clearing up after that fire. you can see it was a beautiful building but a lot of damage done to the exterior of it. it took firefighters an hour to get that fire under control. no reports of any injuries so that's some good news. investigators still trying to figure out what started that

fire. a lot of damage. you can see here how they gutted the home and brought out some of that damaged material and put it out on the sidewalk. again this is a story we will continue to track. when they do determine what the cause was we will come back and give you the update. guys. >> all right, thank you james. there are major environmental concerns after this huge river boat capsized in the delta over the weekend. it is an 87-foot boat, the spirit of sacramento. it capsized east of antioch on saturday. the coast guard says the boat may contain 600 gallons of diesel fuel and could be leaking so the coast guard is working with the fish and wildlife officials right now to keep the fuel contained. the investigators are also trying to figure out how they are going to get this boat out of the delta. there were two people on board when it capsized. they rescued themselves, then the coast guard escorted them to shore. >> and now in world news, president obama meeting resistance in his final asia

tour. parts of the trip included a diplomatic dust-up and harsh words particular principal the president of the philippines. the philippine president slamming president obama after the white house previously said that president obama would confront the philippine leader about his administration's handling of drug dealers. so the philippine president also using profanity in his native tongue said that he would swear at obama if they met. >> i do not have any -- nobody but nobody. you must be respectful. >> i have seen some of those colorful statements in the past, and so clearly he's a colorful guy. >> the white house canceled the president's scheduled meeting with the philippine president. he later sudden a statement he regrets the comments came across as a personal attack.

and happening today congress returning to work from a seven-week break with a lot of work ahead of them. some of the top issues facing cog in the coming weeks include trying to find a compromise to provide funding to prevent the spread of the zika virus. congress also has until okay 1st to pass a budget or the government could shut down. and members of congress will also hold special investigations including plans to investigate the price hike in epipens and the $400 million payment that the u.s. made to iran. congress only has a month to get things done because they will take another recess in okay so members can focus on running for reelection. 6:20. new this morning, black lives matter has established a legal partnership with san francisco- based international development exchange. that move gives the black lives matter movement the ability to receive grants and tax deductible donations. more recently the relationship involved into a contractual partnership that will run through at least mid-2017.

idex is managing the group's financial affairs allowing black lives matter to focus on its mission. and the black lives matter movement is gang support among young white adults. here is video of a black lives matter protest in oakland earlier on this summer. a new survey from gen forward found more than half of white adults between the ages of 18 and 30 now say that they strongly or somewhat support the movement. that's a 10% increase from june. but the survey also shows that most young white adults thought that the movement encourages violence against the police while most black adults disagree. and because these lawyers could ask a judge to throw out two key pieces of evidence today in the sexual misconduct case against him. one of the pieces of evidence is a deposition that bill cosby gave in 2005 in a lawsuit failed by andrea constant. cosby is accused of drugging

and molesting the woman. cosby talked about having extramarital affairs and giving other women drugs with their consent so they would have sex with him. the other piece of evidence is a recording of a phone call between cosby and the woman's mother. and a sick coyote that was seen wandering in the east bay for the past few weeks has died. here is video showing the coyote which was spotted several times in danville. animal control workers say the kai yet tee was hit and killed by a car yesterday. he was suffering from a skin disease. wildlife officials had been looking for this animal in hopes of helping him recover from the disease. 6:22. the big story this morning some of music's top names gathered in baton rouge monday night for a benefit concert to help louisiana flood victims. the louisiana rising show benefited the american red cross' louisiana flood relief fund. last month's flood left at

that turn hear entered the greene county sheriff's office this morning and filled out the necessary paperwork. in fact, we have a picture of him doing exactly that. there you see him sitting in the chair. last friday we brought that you live coverage of his release from the santa clara county jail after serving only three months of a six-month sentence for sexually assaulting a unconscious woman. it was that same day that he flew back to his home state of ohio. the question is when will he register. this morning he did exactly that. registered as a sex offender. he will serve three years supervised probation. no matter where he moves for the rest of his life he will have to fail as a sex offender. his family currently lives in ship creek township. his immediate plan is to stay with them until he figures out what he can do next. the local media will be paying close attention. we will keep you updated on the story. >> thank you james. more break news. itt tech is shutting down immediately. the company that oversees the

for-profit college is accusing the federal government of unfairly taking away eligibility for student aid. itt tech has 40,000 students across the country, and there are two itt tech campuses here in the bay area, in concord and oakland. the school says they're going to focus on helping students get their class records and figure out their next steps. this comes just over a year after corinthian colleges filed for bankruptcy leaving 16,000 students stuck without a degree and with large amounts of debt. the time now is 6:3 2. big news, a man is behind bars accused of shooting and killing a young vallejo woman but police are still looking for a second person wanted in the shooting. 21-year-old westbrook was gunned down while she was leaving her home in august of last year and heading to work at kaiser permanente where she was a nurse. police arrested a man during a traffic stop just yesterday in vacaville. now he faces murder charges.

he is being held without bail. kron 4 spoke with the victim's mother who is also a nurse about this development. >> oh my goodness. i got the phone call, and the detective asked me was i sitting down, and i was not sitting down. i was standing up. and it was just -- it was an overwhelming sense of peace. i got this overwhelming -- like a weight had lifted off of me. although i'm sad that my daughter is not here, i felt at peace that i can close this part and then i can continue with my mission and my purpose which is to continue to save lives. >> mclean is due in court tomorrow. police are still looking for this man, the second man. they believe he was driving the getaway car. he is identified as richard edward hill iii. an east bay community is in mourning over the death of a 14- year-old boy hit by a car while

riding his bike sunday night on big break road in oakley. investigators say the teen was riding the bike on the sidewalk and went on the road to avoid some people who were walking. that's when he was hit by a car. the driver stayed at the scene. police have yet to publicly identify the teen who died. 6:34. a tropical storm warning is in effect for parts of the east coast as hermine is still churning hundreds of miles offshore right now along the atlantic ocean. here is the newest video we have of the rough seas. the storm is bringing strong wind gusts, big waves and rain to new england. it is expected to begin weakening but it could keep impacting areas from new york to southern new england bringing pounding waves and flooding and beach erosion. >> james fletcher will have more on hurricane newton in cabo in a few minutes. breaking news from overnight. mill establishments have stormed a building that houses an international aid organization in kabul leading to a deadly shootout with security forces. three gunmen and one civilian

have died. this comes a day after twin bombings killed at least 24 near the afghan defense ministry. here's video of the aftermath. more than 90 others were injured. 6:35 is the time. and let's take you to the east bay where police say two people caused a multiple car crash after stealing cars from an auto dealership in fremont. and we have a look at where this happened. this is the car dealership on peralta boulevard and it was hit about 11:30 sunday night. an employee called the cops to say two people broke into the office and they took all the keys and then they took two cars initially from the lot. about two-and-a-half hours after the theft of the cars one of the thieves caused a three- car crash on northbound 880 near dakota road. then the other thief who had that second car caused a separate crash on 880 near tennison. the owner of a neighboring car dealership says more police patrols are needed. >> i'm sure it's a big problem for us because it's our

business and this is our money. >> the police has to come here almost all the time especially in the nighttime because that's a problem here with the stolen cars. >> fremont police arrested one person but the other thief got away. >> and there will be increased armed security at the fresno county jail following the shooting there on saturday. an armed sheriff's deputy and an armed correctional officer are now stationed in the lobby. this comes after an ex-convict opened fire and critically wounded two unarmed officers during a struggle after they were approached by a man who cut to the front of the visitors line. and a new case of the zika virus has been confirmed in southern california. a san diego woman was diagnosed with zika. doctors say they had traveled to a country where the zika virus is spreading but they wouldn't say where she traveled. control crews now will be spraying a two-block area in her neighborhood today and tomorrow to kill any mosquitoes that could potentially carry

welcome back to the kron 4 morning news. a quick look at the big stories. firefighters putting out an apartment fire in san francisco that started around 2:00 this morning at haight and octave i can't. firefighters were able to get it under control within an injured. 49ers fullback bruce miller is out of jail and out of a job. he is accused of attacking a 70- year-old man and his grown son at a san francisco hotel at fishermen's wharf. there he was before the outing with his friends, out on a sunday in san francisco, and then by sunday night and monday morning, after the scuffle at the marriott, he was arrested. and the new poll shows that the race between donald trump and clinton portis, trump

it is going to take it well after sunset. 70 up to richmond. 74 oakland but 84 for fremont, then you go over the hills and it is anywhere from the lower 90s popping to like brent had with at 96, appear tie okay a 84. heading to the south bay 80 for palo alto but venturing before the bay, 87 for cupertino, evergreen at 86. san francisco lucy numbers pop for tomorrow. 67 today but you can expect 70s tomorrow. down the peninsula 67 for daily city, pacifica at 66, 77 san mateo, redwood city 81. the north bay mostly the 80s will be found. novato at 89. 87 for napa. lake county, those numbers will be popping into the 90s it looks like. so a look at your seven-day forecast. we're talking about tomorrow getting hotter 97. some areas might see the c note. then going forward temperatures gradually relax into the 80s and the bay will slide to the

lower 70s. what's going on with traffic, robin? >> not too bad out there now dave. checking in on the bay bridge commute into san francisco this view is westbound looking at the traffic just west of the metering ride. there's backup that stretches all the way to the maze but it is moving well across the upper deck. less than 15 minutes from the maze to the sky way. i'm tracking an overturned act in concord but it is not causing a big backup. if you have to use kirker pass road, an overturn on the shoulder now, it looks like traffic is getting thrut without a major delay. keep this in mind if you use kirker pass to get oaf 0 concord. checking inon drive times it's crowded. highway 4 west already jammed up out of antioch to pittsburg. 40 minutes to get to hillcrest off the 248. more heavy traffic after that. south 242, south 680, it's still jammed there but only 17 minutes from concord to

danville. that is not a bad drive time. 680 a little sluggish. 30 minutes from dublin to fremont. 880, of course we have slow traffic for the southbound ride. i don't see any major problems. only 35 minutes to get to 238 after 237. mark. >> thank you robin. breaking news from overnight. emergency shelters have been set up on mexico's baja peninsula as hurricane newton gaining strength. it just slammed into cabo this morning. james fletcher following this. >> right now the eye of that hurricane has moved past cabo and now centered right over la paz just to the north of that. it looks like it will continue to work its way up the baja peninsula. you see the entire hurricane here. and all of the warnings both hurricane and tropical storm warnings affecting not only the baja peninsula but also as you can see the coastline there of mainland mexico as this thing is going to make two landfalls. at 3:00 this morning it hit cabo, and by tonight it is going to be making its second landfall. i will walk you through all of it right now with storm tracker

4. we will switch here and talk a bit about where it is expected to go as we bring up the storm track. as you can see it's pretty powerful with 90-mile-per-hour winds currently. it is moving pretty quick, too. 17 miles per hour to the north. watch this thing advance. it makes caked landfall. that's going to bring the possibility of torrential rain and damaging winds and life threatening surf to both baja, the peninsula, and to the mainland coast as well. we are look at the potential for flash flooding. five to ten inches of rain could come out with this system. it's fast moving so it is not going to sit over the area very long. in fact by wednesday morning look at that. it is pushing into southern portions of arizona and new mexico. now it will drop from hurricane strength down to tropical storm strength but it is going to bring a whole lot of moisture into the desert southwest, and that of course is prime for triggering flash floods. that's something we're definitely going to be watching this time tomorrow as we anticipate some pretty nasty

weather entering that part of the country. but for now all eyes on the baja peninsula as this hurricane continues to roll on through. we will be looking for the latest pictures from that part of the world and we will be sharing some of that as it comes into the newsroom. >> daylight approaching. photos soon. concerns of lead contamination forcing the closure of a decades old gun range in castro valley. after 52 years, the park was forced to close yesterday. the decision was made unanimously by the east bay regional park district's director of environmental concerns. they said the park could not afford to pay for stricter standards four lead cleanup. range goers say they don't buy the reasoning behind the forced closure. >> they have tested the upper levels. to lead. the mid levels, no lead. the fish no, lead. the lower levels, they didn't bother testing because it's full of lead fishing weights. so blaming us for that, it's just not -- doesn't make sense.
