>> marty:another big story we are following this morning. we are now learning more about the victims of a deadly d-u-i crash on interstate 680 near san ramon. the crash claimed the life of a 4-year-old boy. and sent three others to the hospital. kron 4's ella sogomonian spoke with friends and neighbors of the victims and has the story. >> reporter:this is a picture of 4-year-old elijah dunn who died from injuries sustained in that fatal crash last night. one neighbor who said he baby sat the boy said elijah was smart beyong his years. his mother identified as crystal manoiki is recovering from a collapsed lung and broken back. chp report she is doing better today. >> reporter:last night around

6:20 it's reported her black camry ran out of gas on the 680 north so she was forced to pull over. that's when the driver of a white toyota sequoia drove into her car hurting three kids. the suspect is identified as 39- year-old yarenit malihan of pleasanton. she was arrested last night for a felony dui and gross vehicular manslaughter. she has not prior dui convictions. and is believed to be the wife of an alameda county sheriffs deputy. those kids are 11-year-old eric dunn his younger brother the 4 year old that died elijah and another baby girl about 1 years old. friends of eric say they hope he gets well soon. >> marty:in the east bay.

your eyes will be is after your next. >> marty: the nation marks the 15-th anniversary of 9-11 attacks. one of many first responders who lost their lives that day was firefighter stephen siller. his sacrifice inspired a race that happens in new york every year. siller's brother shared his memories of 9-11.with c-n-n's john berman. >> :: "we believe he was in the south tower. he was never recovered." >> reporter:it was a gorgeous september morning. firefighter stephen siller just finished his overnight shift with squad one - the elite unit trained to rescue other firefighters. stephen was headed to play golf with his three brothers. >> :: "we were pumped up because we're four brothers getting together to play golf. everybody very busy. steven already with five kids. / and you know heard what happened on his scanner and he turned his truck around."

>> reporter: the golf-date would never happen. stephen - who'd dreamed of being a firefighter since he was a teen -- turned his truck toward the twin towers, but could only get as far as the brooklyn/battery tunnel. it was blocked, but that didn't stop him >> :: "there was never a doubt in my mind that stephen did what he did. firefighters were there, already. he loved that brotherhood. he came to a screeching halt. got out calmly. put his gear on. and started running through the tunnel. and that tunnel is nearly two miles long." that heroic run -- loaded down with more than 60 pounds of gear - became the driving force of the foundation created by his family in stephen's honor. >> :: "we wanted his kids to know that his dad is a hero. we didn't have any great lofty goals starting a foundation. but when a friend of his came up with the idea of running through the tunnel like he did. you just know the right thing when you hear it." the race, called tunnel to towers, is part of the nationally recognized stephen siller foundation and has raised more than 70 million dollars. it has helped children of 9/11 to the families of the slain dallas
