good morning, everyone. we are expecting rain to hit parts of the bay area later today. we're taking a look at storm tracker 4 radar. good morning, everyone. i am will tran. thank you for joining us on the kron morning news at 4. we're joint by dave sparr. it has been a long time since we talked about rain coming. >> we will take it. this week it looks a little better than the one we had on sunday. than the only thing is, too, is it will be something that will affect you probably on the ride home as you go home as it

starts to spread through the bay area. but here it is. we will show you this morning what the future cast is and how you can plan your day and everything which we will even talk about right now. but there is the northwest. this is our day planner for today. starting in the noter base spreading -- north base spreading over the general bay area throughout the day. bay bridge shot for you. expect cloud cover even when the sun joins us here. downtown san francisco as well. not a lot in the way of fog going on. we have this system in our back yard. to check in with temps. 50s on the board. 40s toward the north bay. boy, our temperatures will be subdueded. mostly cloudy and cool. late north base showers. that is the morning hours. get to the early afternoon, scattered showers spread throughout the bay area. and we're talking full temperatures coupled with that. evening, scattered showers, and cool. that is if ride home we're talking about that may be a little bit in the way of slick roads.

here is how we go. 62 for san francisco. a cool cloudy afternoon showers trying to work their magic. oakland 64. late afternoon showers. 68 for san jose. mostly cloudy and late rain thrown in there. for your ready for school forecast, it puts cloudy in here by the noon hour but you can probably say for the afternoon pickup, getting scattered showers beyond just the north bay down the city, peninsula and also parts of the east bay. there you see the temperatures as well. not a lot of movement there. going to be a chilly one coupled with that, too. we will be covering all that this morning. right now traffic detail getting into work here is robin. what is going on? >> fairly quiet. we're off to a great start. here is a live look at your ride into san francisco. approaching the bay bridge toll plaza looking fantastic. no big problems here. rolling out of oakland into downtown, the drive looks good. the drive time, rather, 8 to 10 minutes out to fremont street. no big problems so far into the north bay. we're still hot spot 3:00 free. a great time to use it.

101, smooth in both directions into and out of san francisco. fairly quiet in the north bay. so 22 minutes for the average drive to the toll plaza on the san francisco side. east bay, sensors look great. i will take a look at the san mateo bridge in a few minutes, will? happening now, dave sparr talked about it. the first rain of the season is making for dangerous roadways. this is video from the rain hitting parts of the north bay yesterday. it didn't last long but made its mark in the form of slick roads. driving always a little more dangerous after the first rain hits. san rafael police and people in the area reminding everyone to be extra cautious as we are starting the rain season. >> they need to wake up. seriously. because it just affects everyone else's rhythm on the road. >> remember to slow down.

months, the g-men rebounded to clench the final wild card spot on the last day of the regular season. kron 4's mark carpenter was inside the clubhouse party and has more from the celebration. >> reporter: after a dominant first half and then a concerning post all-star break slump that was the epitome of torture baseball, the giants have proved they they can come through and they are experts in putting on a champagne party. [ cheering ] >> we play better when we in that urgency mode. when we have our backs against wall. and i think that gave us the momentum to play this series like that because we have to make sure we won those games. >> we kept fighting.

we kept believing. we stayed together no matter what anybody said. when you have brothers, you have teammates that are fighting for one thing, nothing stronger than that bond. >> the giants showing everyone it doesn't matter how you get to the playoffs as long as you're in. after a dismal second half, the orange and black storm into the post season riding a 4-game win streak and poised to claim their fourth world title since 2010. >> i think it is similar to '10 because we had to win on the last day to get in. you know, the second half has been -- it has definitely had its ups and downs. the biggest thing right now, it is nice that we seem to gain some mom going into this game wednesday. >> i lot of these guys come up through the system, and we have been through the same things. we know what each other has been through throughout the minor leagues. we have been with each other five or six years now. just fun. fun to enjoy this moment with these friends and our teammates

[ laughter ] >> i got a broom in my car just for him. >> reporter: reporting from san francisco, alicia reed, kron 4 news. let's go from orange to blue. the blue angels arrived in oakland for the start of fleet week in san francisco. kron 4 is your fleet week station. here i was last year exactly one year ago, taking off for fleet week. brittney shipp will be taking off for us this year. i told her to eat bananas and crackers. they taste the same going down and if she throws up it will stay taste the same going back up. ella sogomonian spoke to people who are ready for fleet week activities. >> reporter: for many in the bay area, coming out to watch tuss navy blue angels fly is a family tradition that spans decades'. >> i have been watching the blue angels since i was her age. >> i like because they are

fast! . >> reporter: sunday night the group touched down at the oakland international airport's north field where they will be performing for fleet week. already fans came to watch and welcome pilots as they landed. >> i have always been a big fan of airplanes and big -- i just enjoy seeing the f-18s. >> reporter: it looks like the pilots just made it as saturday their flight leader got sick and forced the blue angels to cancel their california capital air show. sunday all seemed well and the scheduled hasn't changed yet. >> i love aviation, the precision, the sound. >> reporter: neighbors in the area can expect a roaring sound overhead all week. >> i understand some residents are bothered by the noise. but, it is -- it is special. >> kron 4 is your fleet week station. thiscoming week is jam-packed with fleet week festivities from the parade of ships to the air show. and that includes the blue angels.

welcome back to the kron 4 morning news at 4:00. time to dig through your clothes and look for rain gear. rain expected to hit the bay area later today. and chilly, too. >> a little bit? you will see. >> i'm not complaining because last week -- here is meteorologist dave spahr. last monday it was on fire. >> not feeling like fall last week but now we have it all. rain in the forecast. cool temperatures. a little breeze thrown in for good measure. >> why not? why not? >> the deal is with this system contrasted with its cousin or something from yesterday, is this thing is tapping into more moisture this go-around. it looks like more of the bay area will be treated to these little scattered showers that we're talking about. much more than we saw from

yesterday's performance. timing appears to be, again, covering the north bay probably before we reach the noon hour. then spreading out which we're going to show you. but here it is. you can see now, it is progress getting just into the coast of northern california. alcatraz island, not a big problem with fog going on but o don't expect too much in the way of sun. future cast, let's go ahead and stop it around the noon hour. you can see some attempts to get some rain happening in the peninsula along the coast. but the lions share at that point will be in the north bay. we venture into the later afternoon, 4:45, spreading out to s solano county. it will penetrate to the east bay during the afternoon and evening hours and even after sunset continuing on with scattered showers. let's show what you the future cast rain looks like in terms of coverage again. we can go out to about 3:00 on this. north bay covered. getting east bay shoreline by 3:00. the coast and a little bit of

south bay looks like it sneaks in as well but really for your commute home and maybe a few hours after that, we questione get that better inland coverage that will happen later on. again, everybody getting more treatment of this tan we saw from yesterday's performance. just want to show you future cast because i mentioned in terms of temperatures over to will there, we have the greens on here the whole day. we're going to be struggling for some areas to get out of the 60s. it looks like we will probably -- hardly anybody will be getting out of 60-degree territory for today's forecast. all that cloud cover will keep temperatures suppressed. east bay shoreline, mid 60s at work he. we jump over the east bay his and walnut creek, brentwood , you might reach 70 or so but everybody else is in 60s territory. here is how it comes together in the three-day forecast. showers potentially a couple of claps of thunder in there. a slight warm-up by the time we get to the middle of the week, drying out a little bit. bay will go from 66 to 71. robin, how are things holding together in traffic?

>> very good. looking good. hot spot free. this is your ride to san francisco. if you're heading back to work this morning, no big problems for westbound 80. nice and light. the average drive time has increased by one minute. now nine minutes from the foot of the maze out to fremont street. checking in on 92. from the east bay to the peninsula, no big problems rolling westbound. traffic at the limit. no problems connecting to foster city. 101, highway280. if you're a north bay commuter and you have to use south 101 no big problems into san francisco. smooth through the tolls. doyle park, no big problems from the north side. a quick 22 minute from the 101- 37 split to the toll plaza. checking in on our road sensors, they look fantastic. green all around. highway 4 a good ride out of antioch. 680 nice and smooth into fremont. no big problems for the nimitz.

the average drive a quick 23 minutes. will? >>happening now, hurricane matthew is closing in on haiti and jamaica as it churns across the caribbean. it is packing 130-mile-an-hour winds. now within about 300 miles of jamaica and haiti where it is set to unleash torrential rainfall before reaching cuba. >> this particular hurricane, by virtue of its trajectory will have a strong impact. we expect there will be landslides and that will mean also damage to agriculture. >> reporter: forecasters warning matthew will bring life life-threatening flash floods. some are ignoring warnings to leave. >> i think it is safer from

here. so, i will die here. >> reporter: the massive storm also threatening haiti where the infrastructure is still fragile after the 2010 earthquake that rocked the country. cuba bracing for matthew. u.s. officials evacuate hundreds of employees and families from guantanamo bay. the national weather service said sunday it was too early to say what matthew's effect would be on the united states. while the impact on the island nations is expected to be serious, some are optimistic. kim kardashian is used to having wild things happen on her reality show but nothing like this. she was held up at gunpoint and robbed of more than $10 million of jewelry inside her paris hotel room. her spokesperson says two armed masked men dressed as police officers burst into her hotel room yesterday. then tied her up in the

bathroom before leaving. her husband kanye west was performing in new york at the time. now he abruptly ended his show, telling his fans, i got to leave. i have a family emergency. kardashian was not injured during the robbery. the mother of a little boy who died after a school shooting in south carolina is now talking about her heart- break loss. 6-year-old jacob hall died saturday after suffering a brain injury caused by massive blood loss. now he was shot on wednesday when a teenager opened fire at his elementary school. his mother says now is the time for mourning as well as healing. she says jacob was a little boy who loved school, games, and super heroes. >> jacob was forgiving. what happened to jacob, jacob forgives already. he is in heaven smiling down at us and he's asking his mom to be strong to forgive just like he would have. >> jacob was one of three

people shot in the elementary playground. the 14-year-old suspected gunman is facing multiple charges including murder. indecision 2016. donald trump taxes are back in the spotlight this morning. he tweeted yesterday that he's the only presidential candidate who can fix the tax system. his comment comes in response to a new york times report that says trump showed a loss of nearly $1 billion. that is billion with a b. $1 billion on his 1995 returns. cnn's kim hutchenson reports this could have allowed him to avoid income taxes for years. >> i will release my tax returns, against my lawyers' wishes when she releases her 33,000 e-mails -- >> while many are still waiting for donald trump to release his tax returns, "the new york times" recently received tax documents belonging to the

business mogul. the documents show in 1995, trump reported a $916 million loss. the report, citing tax experts said trump could have used his loss to legally aindividual paying federal income taxes for up to 18 years. the trump campaign released a statement saying the gop nominee has paid one ofs of millions of dollars in other taxes including property and real estate taxes. former new york mayor rudy giuliani called trump a genius for taking advantage of lawful deductions. >> the reality is this is part of our tax code. the man is a genius. he knows how to operate the tax code for the benefit of the people he's serving. >> reporter: former presidential candidate bernie sanders expressed why so many americans find this frustrating. >> trump goes around and says hey i'm worth billions. i'm a successful businessman but i don't pay any taxes. but you, you make $15 an hour? you pay the taxes. not me. that is why people are angry and want real change in this country. >> reporter: trump responded on

twitter saying he knows tax laws better than anyone who has ever run for president and is the only person who can fix them. kim hutcherson, reporting. "the new york times" says it obtained three pages of documents when they were mailed to a reporter last month. a postmark indicated the documents were mailed from trump tower in new york city. the pair did not examine trump's federal return -- the paper did not examine trump's federal returns. they obtained one of the pages of his income tax return and the first page of new jersey and connecticut nonresident returns. coming up, a tim burton film opens at the top of the box office and a grammy-award winning singer is starting a dive bar mini tour. we will explain next on the kron 4 morning news.

ontinue. we are coming up on 4:30. here are big stories we're working on for you this morning. the giants headed to the post season after clinching the final wild card spot on the last day of the regular season. they beat their rivals, the l. a. dodgers 7-1 yesterday. the giants heading to the post season on a four-game winning streak. they take on the new york mets on wednesday for the nl wild card game. madison bumgardner will be on the mound. the winner of that game will take on the chicago cubs. the blue angels arrived in oakland for the start of fleet week in san francisco. flights kick off this thursday with the blue angels practicing over the bay area from 1:00 until 5:00. kron 4, your fleet week station. we will broadcast the blue angels live on saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. for a fully full schedule of all the fleet week events head to www.kron4.com. believe it or not, rain expected to hit the bay area, parts of the bay area today. we already saw rain over the

weekend. it didn't last very long. was a little bit slick for the roadway. and already officers are telling people, take it easy. that oil surfaces -- rises to the surface. >> this was the cocktail hour yesterday. this is going to cover -- the other thing is good coverage this time at least. maybe not a lot of, but again getting good coverage. 'the roads that is true. that is the cocktail but are we having an entree? >> well, we won't have a lot but everybody will get something. that is the deal there. there you see it on the radar there. will take it a while to get its act together. will see it develop in the north bay first. kind of the same pattern we're used to. prior to that, it will then later on spread across the greater bay area looking for after the afternoon hours. it will favor the coastal areas before getting inland late this afternoon and into the evening hours. there is a shot for you at alcatraz. we're not dealing with much in the way of fog. golden gate bridge not too glazy either. not the slick roads just yet but there will be for your

commute home. by that point, quite definitely. temperatures, 50s on the board. chilly 40s up near the north bay and really for -- looking temperature movement today, not a lot. going to be kind of a lazy thermometer. this morning, mostly cloudy. cool is what you can bet on. late north bay showers develop. early afternoon, we're talking about scattered showers spread. cool temperatures remain. by the evening, scattered showers and cool. we talk about the evening. we're going to talk about sunset as well. in the inland areas toward the east bay and so solano county and so forth. by 12:00, everybody is cloudy if you're not there yet. those are issues, too. we're seeing stars out right now. 63 at that point as it remains cool today. we have a drying pattern and warming pattern for you in the seven-day forecast. we will investigate that in a bit. right now robin is standing by with a traffic update. what is going on? still crowded at the bay bridge toll plaza. look at the cash lanes on the far left and right. if you have fast track, you will save a little time but it

is picking up here from westbound 80 rolling into san francisco. so far just a minor delay and the drivetime still looks good. 9 minutes from the foot of the maze to fremont street. when you make it to downtown san francisco, no big problems for the skyway, the james lake, 280 and the central freeway all looking good. just minor crowding at the toll plaza. nothing to worry about here. 580 west, a live look at the richmond san rafael bridge. if you need to get to the north bay, it is smooth right now through the tolls across the span connecting with 101 north and south. 8 minutes from thpay gate south. 24 at the limit to and from the caldecott. the nimitz looking good. 680 a nice roll there out of dublin to fremont. and the south bay checking in hot spot-free. no traffic alert osar big accidents or stalls here. 101, 280, 880, guadalupe parkway, 17 out of santa cruz mountains all nice and smooth. will? let's that you can about

the santa cruz mountains. you can see the fires still burning this morning. cal fire expects to have full containment on the loma fire later this week. this is video of the fire from our helicopter -- helicopter partnership with abc 7. the fire has burned over 4400 acres and is 71% contained this morning. it still threatening about 325 buildings. hundreds of people evacuated from both santa cruz and santa clara counties since last monday when the fire started. mandatory evacuations remain in effect for some parts of santa clara county. i know the big story we're following this morning, if you go to church, you know there is really nothing that could stop sunday service. not even a destructive fire. you can see this fire to the building in berkeley. this is video the from a helicoptered partnership with abc 7. kron 4's spencer blake shows us how church goers made sunday service happen even though this fire took place a

couple of days before that. >> reporter: it was hugs and handshakes all around for members of first church berkeley. they agreed and welcomed each other to first presbyterian church across the street. >> when we heard of the fire, our church was already started relationships with them and it was easy to -- to offer our home to them. >> reporter: disaster remediation is starting at the burned shell of pilgrim hall. and first pres is helping their friends clean up the emotional damage. >> it is a surreal thing when should something that is part of your life has been so affected and changed. >> reporter: they started with a lunch. >> getting to nome know them on personal basis was exciting. >> yeah, we have this connection. >> reporter: that connection began last week when the two churches choirs sang together for sabbath worship.

then sunday, in a borrowed sanctuary, one of the ministers taught the children about the mythical phoenix and how it rises from if ashes. >> the people say amen. >> reporter: and rising from the ashes, is easier when you have someone pulling you up. >> were very grateful. i know we would do the same thing if they had a problem. we would welcome them. >> reporter: in the service one of the ministers assuredded the congregation they would meet together every sunday even if it wasn't in the same place or place they were used to. in berkeley, spencer blake, kron 4 news. happening now, apollo alto police are looking for man who exposed himself. it happened on saturday afternoon. police say a 14-year-old girl was riding her bicycle through the park when she notice manned sitting on the bench with his pants down and exposing himself. the teenager then left the area and then called her mother. the man is described as a white man in his 50s with short spiked hair and a medium build. he was last seen wearing a red

t-shirt and cargo shorts. in east bay, police are trying to find the person who fired shots at their police building. here is a look at the large bullet hole found at the front of the police headquarters on saturday night. they also found another smaller bullet marked on the second floor. fortunately no injuries reported. officers say damage to the police headquarters is at a minimum. in new jersey, federal investigators recovered one of two data recorders. a vital piece of evidence in determining the cause of that commuter train derailment last week. a woman was killed and more than 100 others were injured in the disaster on thursday morning. these are new photos released on early sunday morning. the daughter recorder could provide information on the train's speed, use of brakes

and throttle position. it has been sent to lab to get its information. a second data recorder has yet to be recovered because it is trapped in the collapsed front of that train. still ahead, the deadline to take a survey on possible changes to san francisco's lombard street is approaching. plus, the 49ers struggle at home and the raiders take on the ravens in a late game thriller. all downhill after that touchdown for the 49ers. the highlights, coming up. here is a live look outside at the embarcadero. -- meteorologist dave spahr says rain all over the bay area today.

let's talk about sports. the san francisco 49ers took on the dallas cowboys in santa clara. this was the scene before the game. everybody of course looks at collin kaepernick to see what he does. other 49ers took a knee. as far as the cowboys, they all stood and they did not take a

knee. there they are right there, all standing at attention. now, let's take a look at the highlights. the 49ers got off to a great start. carlos hyde bounces to the ride. touchdown. there it is. the niners off to a very fast start. actually, it was 14-0 at one point. the cowboys answered with two straight scores of their own. dak prescott, terrence williams touchdown. the niners could not get anything going in the second half. they scored a measly three points. the cowboys went on to win 24- 17. now, the fans not just disappointed by the game. they were also frustrated by what happened. some fans took to social media while on their way into the game.

to complain about the long lines to get into the stadium. fans that we talked to right after the matchup say they are frustrated with the niners, and how they are doing right now. they -- they sit at 1-3 for the year. >> they need to get rid of trent balke. you're messing with this organization. prices are outrageous for this. get rid of balk. >> yeah, it is unfortunate he threw that interception but other than that blaine gabbert looked pretty good. but i thought kaepernick should have played. >> when we were at candlestick we felt the energy. here at levi stadium, it is just not the same. it will take a couple of years to rebuild to get back to who we are. in the heart. we are winners. >> by the way, kaepernick could not play because he's injured. quick turn-around for the 49ers. they take on the arizona cardinals at levi on thursday. and it was another late- game thriller for the raiders. they were taking on the undefeated baltimore ravens in baltimore. take a listen to how it ended.

dollars -- hundreds of millions of dollars in property and real estate taxes. trump responded on twitter, where else, saying he's the only presidential candidate who can fix the tax system. plus, hurricane matthew is heading towards haiti with winds up to 130 miles an hour. the u.s. national hurricane center says the category 4 storm expected to make landfall a little later today. or possibly into tomorrow. people in haiti, cuba and jamaica are bracing for flash floods and i violate winds. kim kardashian was held up at gunpoint and robbed of $10 million of jewelry in her paris hotel room. a spokesperson for the reality tv star says two armed masked men dressed as police officers burst into her hotel room yesterday. the robbers then tied her up in the bathroom before taking off. kardashian -- kardashian-west was not injured in the robbery.

69, petaluma. okay. vacaville a 70 up in here. a drying out phase, a mild phase really for the season as you can see. 70s and lower 80s in there by about friday. what is happening with area roads there, robin? the commute is picking up but looking pretty good so far. for you early commuters who are about to hit the road, here is a live look at the ride into san francisco. it is nice and smooth so far, approaching the toll plaza. about 15-20 minutes ago it was really crowded in some of those cash lanes. that has thinned out. overall a nice ride from oakland to downtown san francisco. your commute from the east bay, over to the peninsula, not bad at all. the brakelights you see here on westbound 92, that is traffic coming out of hayward to the peninsula. it is a nice roll. only 13 minutes. that is a great drive from the nimitz to 101. bridge crews, a zip truck here switching around the lane configuration on the golden gate to accommodate commute traffic from the north bay. it is 3-3. they will switch it to four lanes south and two lanes north but smooth in both

yesterday morning. the victim was with two other kayakers when they left from oyster point in south san francisco. while in bay waters near san francisco international airport, the other kayakers realized the victim was missing. the name of the 38-year-old man has not been released so far this morning. in the east bay, two people were injured after a collision involving a scooter in berkeley. the crash happened yesterday afternoon on shattuck avenue and university avenues prompting officers to temporarily close the intersection. two people crashed into a pickup truck. they were taken to the hospital. information about the extent of their injuries has not yet been released. this friday is the deadline to take an online survey about changes to san francisco's lombard street. city transit leaders are considering ways to control the traffic and overcrowding of tourists. they include charging a toll, requiring reservations for the street and encouraging visitors to reach the single lane street on foot or by cable car. this friday, october 7, is the deadline to take that online survey about the potential

solutions. it can be found on our web site, www.kron4.com. kron 4 viewers complain about bad drivers all the time all over the bay area. now we want to show you one that we caught the attention -- that caught the attention of kron 4's stanley roberts. >> reporter: pay attention to the suv that circled. notice how far back the driver is. the question, will the driver make it before the opposing traffic gets to go? let's stop the video here. the suv is about 20 feet from the limit line. notice the opposing traffic now has the green. but watch what happens. yes, the driver ran a stale red light. pleasant hill is a town where people don't mind helping other people. the lady broke down and people were helping her move her car. i got a kick on the fact she never put down her phone. but you also see your fair share of people behaving badly. first off, they love their phones. i mean, really love them. one out of every five drivers i watched were holding a phone

right robin? >> no problems so far. >> excellent. what is with with the rain? another bout here that will probably cover everybody in the bay area. kind of later in the day to spread out to everybody. probably for your commute home. watch out for slick roads. there you see it. really tapped into moisture. so it is really kind of blossomed a little bit as we will be following it all this morning. here is a live shot of the bay bridge. not a whole lot in the waive surface fog we're dealing with. temps were in the 50s. got the 40s up there to the north bay. so, having said all that, this is what we're expecting. in the morning, mostly cloudy. cool conditions. late north bay showers start to build. then by the afternoon, we got scattered showers, spreading at that point. cool temps. and then by the evening, scattered showers and cooler. by the evening also talking after sunset. that is when it starts penetrating those inland spots very nicely. ready for school forecast case for 63 by high noon. look at that. 66 for the pickup in the afternoon. and in summaries, peninsula, coast -- in some areas,

there you go. this thing camped a lot more moisture, too. -- captured a lot more moisture, too. this rain extends up to the northwest as well. here is the live shot of what is going on right now. we will be tracking it all this morning to see the progress in realtime to where it is. you can see the radar echos are way out there. it hasn't gotten to the greater bay area. not yet. maybe lake county potentially in the inland areas way up to north. but give a little time for this to start to develop before we leave air probably it will start to show up on that perspective. 1:00, you can see it churning up in the north bay, just about to spread out to san francisco down the peninsula a little bit. that will happen in the afternoon hours. look at the coverage by 5:45. get in the greater bay area in by that point for the commute home. and then, a few hours after sunset, getting some of those inland valleys involved in all of this, too. so, it looks like it is going to cover everybody this go- around unlike its predecessor yesterday. another sense of timing here. 4:00 p.m. we have the peninsula, san francisco all covered down to the south bay, north bay is

repeatedly demeaned women with sexist language. he would rate their looks and talk about which women he was attracted to. a trump campaign spokeswoman called the claims totally false. the engineer of that train that crashed in new jersey has no memory of what happened. engineer thomas gallagher told ntsb investigators that there were no problems with the train before it crashed into the hoboken terminal thursday morning. he remembers blowing the train's horn and looking at the speedometer. he said the train was traveling at 10 miles an hour. one woman was killed and 100 others injured in the crash. investigators are hoping to learn more from the train's data recorders but they are running into problems. one of the data reporters is trapped in the damaged train. another recorder that was supposed to record the train's speed, -- and -- it wasn't functioning at the time. they don't have that to go on.

during the incident. he didn't try to talk to the teenager, either. concord police are investigating a shooting that happened outside the police department over the weekend. and here you can see the big bullet hole in front of the building. this was about 11:15 saturday night at the police department on galindo street. nobody was hurt. police have not identified any suspects. one person us dead and another in custody after a police shooting in los angeles. police responded to reports that two men had guns last night but officers have not said what led -- led up to the shooting. the victim was a hispanic man between the ages of 18 and 22 years old. one witness says officers shot that man multiple times. police founds a handgun on the scene. this shooting comes in the wake of another police shooting over the weekend in l. a. police shot and killed carnell, jr., as he fled from police. it sparked two nights of protests in los angeles. the justice department is offering grants to help police

departments across the country hire new officers. $119 million in funding is going to be announced in dallas today to kick off national community policing week. other events this week include a townhall discussion on diversity in policing. the grants are being awarded to 184 law enforcement agencies across the country and they are intended to yet or protect more than -- create or protect more than 900 positions. decision 2016. hillary clinton has picked up a big endorsement in the swing states of ohio. lebron james decided to endorse the democratic nominee in an op- ed with the business insider. james said clinton was the loin candidate who shared similar values with him -- he said he supported hillary because she could build on the legacy of president obama. just last month, clinton also received the endorsement of warriors guard steph curry. another bush family member may be leaning towards supporti hillary clinton for president. barbara bush the daughter of former president george w. bush

welcome back to the kron 4 morning news. the time is 5:38. checking in on the bay bridge ride into san francisco. it continues to back up here. so if you need to get in right now you will be sighting -- sitting in slow traffic, stop- and-go from right around the 880 overcrossing here. but it is slowly stretching out to east grand. the suspension looks good. no problems in downtown san francisco. the average drive not bad. 10 minutes from the maze out to fremont street. darya? new tests suggests? mosquitoes in florida may still be infected with the zika virus. preliminary tests show that a new sample of mosquitoes from the miami beach area, tested positive for zika. the cdc still needs to confirm these results. but if they are confirmed, this would be the sixth mosquito sample from miami beach that

has tested positive. at least 35 people in that area have contracted zika locally. health officials have been spraying the area to get rid of the mosquito. zika has been linked to severe birth defects where children are born with be a normally small -- ab normally small heads. certain birth control pills may increase a woman's chance of having depression. hormonal contraception that includes birth control pills and implants increases a woman's odds of depression and anti-depression medication use. women who use contraceptives had an 80% increased risk of depression. the numbers were higher for add lessent girls. researchers -- adolescent girls. women should talk to their doctors when starting any kind of hormonal medicine. and a sign that the seasons really change. a second day in a row tracking rain across the bay area. this is more juicy than

will start to progress further south and start to get the north bay involved in some of those rain showers as we continue to track it all this morning. so let's go on and do that and let you know how the whole day will go together. we take you out to the early afternoon, 5:00 or so. there you see all the north bay coverage. san francisco to the south bay. not too much coverage in the east bay. this is as the evening commute starts. then we start to progress further, and some of those roads there -- now starting to become slick and more rain also being added to the north bay and down to the peninsula as we go into latter afternoon. this takes us out to about 9:00 p.m. some of the rain may actually linger in terms of light rain showers as late as just in the predawn hours for tomorrow. but then that will be a clearing day for us pretty much. this will be a one-day event. this goes out to 5:00 a.m. you can see a little bit more greenery shows up. temperature-wise today, boy, talk about a lazy thermometer. what a contrast to seven days ago. we have 60s on the board for east bay shore line. ditto for the east bay hills.

everybody else is pretty much upper 60s territory. for the south bay, cupertino, 66. most of the south bay, upper 60s for today. san francisco a chilly 62 going on today. golden gate park about 61. but down the peninsula, it stays in the 60s territory as it will be cloudy with those rain showers developing in the afternoon. and just to check into the north bay, 59 for stinson beach. 69 petaluma. but remember, this is where the rain will start earlier in the day even before the lunch hour. we should probably start getting wetness going on up here. vacaville may get to a balmy 70 by comparison. to the weekend, it looks okay for fleet week. temperatures may flirt with the lower 80s temporarily on friday. but looking pretty good going into the weekend. robin, checking on the traffic detail. what is going on? also looking good at the bay bridge toll plaza. time to head back to work. traffic filling in here at the pay gates. but no big problems out of the maze or into downtown san

francisco. so the drive time is holding steady. 10 minutes from the foot of the maze out to fremont street. beyond that point, continuing through downtown, connecting with 101 and 280, not going to be a problem for now. this is considered a good commute. we're hot spot-free but 80, the east shore freeway recovering from an earlier problem. an animal in the road, a small minor issue but backed up traffic to highway 4 out of hercules. if you get out there and it is a little heavy, that is why. nothing major. your total drive time not bad. put it all together, about 16 minutes from highway 4 to the maze or 580-880 split. for those of you coming out of the east bay, antioch, pitsburg, bay point, it is getting crowded from lone tree. going to be off and on towards bailey approaching that b-a-r-t station. a nice ride through concord. maybe a little sluggish off of 242 but the drive here, only 22 minutes from hill crest out to 242 south.

f.r.a.n.c.i.s.c.o. -- s.f.o.. berkeley back open this morning after two pele were injured in a crash. police closed the intersection of shattuck and university avenues after the collision at 2:00 yesterday afternoon. two people on a motor scooter crashed into a pickup truck. the scooter riders were hospitalized. no word yet on how they are doing this morning. 5:48. big news this morning. this friday is the deadline to take an online survey and get feedback on proposed changes for the san francisco's famous lombard street. city transit leaders are look at how they can control the traffic in the area. an estimated 6,000 people visit the crooked section of the street every day during the summer months. and that can cause a big backup for several blocks. transit officials are look at maybe charging a toll if you want to drive on that portion of the street. or require a reservation. they are also encouraging visitors to take public transit to the curvy part of lombard.

transit officials are asking officials to take an online survey and give feedback on these ideas. you can find the link on our web site at www.kron4.com. the minimum wage in san jose will soon be going up. wages going up about 10 cents an hour. that will begin in january. bringing the hourly wage up to 10.40. voters approved the law in 2012 that requires san jose businesses to pay employees at least $10 hour. wages also increase each year based on how much the consumer price index increases. ambulance. tesla says sales of its cars -- i want one to badly. tesla cars more than doubled compared to a year ago. 16,000 model s and 8700 model x sports utility vehicles were delivered to customers in the latest quarter. this is encouraging news for the palo alto based company that has had a rocky couple of months. tesla suffered a larger than expected loss in the second
