>> rebecca: >> marty:at least 8 people have been injured after a shooting in oakland. here's video from the scene just moments after the shots were fired. this video was sent to us by a kron 4 viewer. you can see how chaotic the situation was. you can see a bouncer holding a gun. police say it happened outside a nightclub just after midnight near broadway and 14th street. first responders found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. several were transported to area hospitals. others took themselves for treatment. police have not said exactly how many people were injured in the shooting or the conditions of the victims. so far, no report of any suspects or arrest. >> marty:another big story we are following this moring. the body of an east bay woman found beaten and burned has now been identified as a missing sheriff's volunteer. kron 4's ella sogomamonian reports police have arrested two people in connection with her murder. >> reporter:yes family members

are torn apart by the devastating news tonight so understandbly no one wanted to talk - but a friend described karla as a nice person who brought joy to those around her and didn't deserve an end like this. earlier karla's aunt told kron 4 news her niece had applied for a job at thealameda county sheriff's office where she volunteered and was excited to start a career in law enforcement. her friend here at the vigil who also worked with her at a nearby kfc described karla as a fun person who would make coworkers laugh. he also said his girlfriend was the last person she dropped off at home before she was murdered. sot joorg zamora, karla's friend "karla dropped her off, karla left and later on a i get a text from my girl in the morning say hey karla's been gone for a couple hours and i said don't worry she's probably going to get there home but we waited today, nothing we waited to today, and today they let us know what happened." that news they got today of course that the body found in an

oakland park was identified as karla. two suspects are now in custody one of which deputies say is a girl friend of karla's. we'll bring you more details as this case unravels. in san leandro ella sogomonian kron 4 news. in the north bay. investigators are still searching for clues, including a possible murder weapon after a body was found in a shallow grave at sonoma state university. the body of 18 year old kirk kimberly was discovered by a grounds keeper on wednesday. kimberly was originally from cotati. he was reported missing on october 17th. he was last seen riding his bike in rohnert park. some people who knew kimberly visted the crime scene. one of his friends told kron 4 that he wants justice. >> marty:police do not have any suspects or made any arrest in connection to this case. >> marty:happening today. more then 35 thousand kids and teens will take the field at a-t and t park for the sixth annual discovery day. organizers hold the event each year to help kids "unleash their

here is a look at some of the new medical findings released this week: new research finds that a lack of sleep could lead to overeating and weight gain. doctors say people who do not get enough sleep at night are more likely to overeat during the day. they say that sleep deprivation can lead to an extra 385 calories per day. doctors say your hormones are affected when you don't get enough sleep and that means you need to eat more to feel full. the study was based on people who got less than five-and-a- half hours of sleep a night. the number of women dying worldwide from cancer is expected to rise to more than 5 million people a year by the year 20-30. this according to a new report from the american cancer society. in 2012 that number was 3-point- 5 million. but despite the expected increase in cancer related deaths worldwide , the number of cancer deaths is decreasing in the united states. for the weekend: it's the cowboy folk festival in sunol. check out the square dancing and celebrate the cowboy heritage. it's happening at the sunol- ohlone regional wilderness from 11:00 to 4:00 today. and it's free to attend.

it in vehicles. now he's camped out at city hall with others who from adeline and fairview. sot benjamin royer im going to stick with the group whereever they go i will go. richie smith has lived in the bay area since 1949. she says things have gotten a lot worse for the homeless in recent years. sot richie smith i would like for them to find some place where they could camp out and if it's set up right, they can cultivate vegetables and do things to improve themselves and the community. thats what i would like to see. rather than keep moving em around and then complaining about how much money it costs to move them around. standup now there's certainly some debate about whether berkeley police were overly aggressive in breaking up the camp but the bigger question is whether this strategy the city is taking of shutting down these camps is effective because what happens as was the case today is the people move to another part of the city. reporting in berkeley, ha, k4 news. in california news. the death penalty decision hiatus is nearing it's end. it comes just days after the legal deadline to switch to a new method of executing condemed inmates. corrections officials have proposed one single lethal drug as means of legal execution. it's considered more humane than the three-drug cocktail used ten years ago in california's last legal injection. court pressure forced officials

thanks for joining us. i'm marty gonzalez. here's rebecca strom with the weather forecast. in the south bay. police are not ruling out a gang connection in a double shooting that left one man dead. it happened near bambi lane and peter pan avenue around 6:30 thursday night. the man who is survived is reportedly saying little to police about the shooter. neighbors tell kron four the area is a gang hot spot. however, there is no word yet on a motive. police have increased patrols in the area in hopes of finding the shooter. in the east bay. contra costa county prosecutors have looked through hours of interviews with the woman at the center of a bay area sex scandal. they say they will charge only one former oakland police officer. kron 4's haaziq madyun explains how a bag of cheetos took center stage during friday's announcement. snack foods in exchange for sex with the woman formerly known as celeste guap.that was one unchargeable scenario according to contra costa county district attorney mark peterson "an incident where a bag of cheetos was brought along to a

crab lovers rejoice, the offical start of crab season is set to begin. this is welcome releif after last year's month's-long delay to the season because of domoic acid issues. but there is another health warning surrounding the crabs this year. rebecca strom is here to tell us more about it.

rebecca what are the dangers people still need to consider? marty health officials still want to warn people that eating the guts, or crab butter, might still get you sick that's because they might contain domoic acid as well. health officials say they have detected sporadic high levels of it again in some crabs. >> rebecca:as you may know, last years concerns of this acid kept commercial anglers from crabbing for several months, forcing them to miss the crucial holiday season. but if you do get sick from domoic acid, some of the symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness. and some of those symptoms might start in as little as 30 minutes. if all goes as planned, *commercial crabbing will begin on november 15th. back to you marty. >> marty:in the north bay. officers in mill valley want to help people identify skimming
