heenan is here now with two of the bigger, more controversial examples. one that's triggered lots of conversation -- prop 64. a yes vote would legalize the use of medical and recreational marijuana in the state. it applies to anyone 21 and older. and imposes a 15 percent sales tax on pot sales. it also authorizes re-sentencing and wipes out prior pot convictions. it's expected to pass.but state policy makers warn that employers could still prohibit workers from using it, possessing it -- or being under the influence at work. in other words - pot could still get you fired. and critics argue it could lead to more impaired driving and accidents. then there's the sugary drink tax. it's up for a vote in alameda county and san francisco. there are some variations on the name and the details -- depending on where you vote.but they all aim for a 1-cent per ounce tax on drinks sweetened by sugar. supporters claim it would help prevent problems like obesity and diabetes in children. critics argue that the extra tax could essentially be passed on by retailers to customers - with higher prices on other groceries. grant and vicki? kron 4 is your station for election night. our coverage starts just as california's polls close at 8:00. we're tracking local races, of coursethe presidential election, and the balance of power in the house and senate.from 8 until midnight.

this case has unfolded rapidly. it was last wednesday when the body of karla ramirez was found burned at an oakland park. today we learned the suspects. laura rodgers and curtys taylor. have been charged with her murder. investigators are painting a pretty graphic picture of how this all went down. according to prosecutors. the killing was planned for days. they add rodgers told them she came up with idea of luring ramirez to arroyo viejo park. she allegedly then stabbed ramirez several times. investigators say taylor told them he purchased the gas can and gasoline that was used to burn the body. and arrived at the park after the attack took place to help rodgers hide the boy. so what about the evidence that links them to the killing? investigators say taylor told them they collected the knife, gas can, rodgers' clothing and ramirez's belongings. they then tossed everything into a dumpster at the "days inn" in hayward. as for a motive. that is not being revealed in these documents.
