10 people are dead and dozens are unaccounted for after a major fire inside a warehouse in oakland. the fire first broke out at about 11:30 friday night. we brought you live coverage of the blaze yesterday morning. this is video of that blaze. authorites say they fear the death count could rise to as high as 40 people. >> robin:and now we are hearing from many people who are releasing statements on the tragic fire. one of them was governor jerry brown. he released this statement about the fire. he says quote. >> mark:"anne and i were saddened to learn of last night's tragic fire in oakland. our thoughts are with the entire city in this difficult time and we extend our condolences to the family and friends of those lost." >> marty:and senator diane finestein tweeted this about the fire. she said she is devastated by the tragic fire in #oakland. my thoughts are with the victims and their families. and california attorney general and soon to be u-s senator kamala harris also tweeted about the fire. she said she's sending strength and prayers to oakland for those lost and suffering. a terrible, terrible tragedy.

back to our continuing breaking news coverage of the deadly oakland warehouse fire.

crews remain on scene as they search for more victims as we have just learned a 10th body has been recovered. we want to bring you up to speed with what we know right now. the fire started just after 11:30 on friday night at the warehouse known as the "ghost ship" it's on 31st avenue and international boulevard a couple blocks from the fruitvale bart station. sheriff's deputies say an electronic music party was in progress, on the second floor of the warehouse. anywhere between 50 and 100 people were there. and at some point, deputies say a fire started. they don't know how but it caused the roof to collapse onto the second floor.then the second floor collapsed onto the first. >> marty:again. ten people have died. and two dozen more are still missing. the bodies of the nine victims have been transported to the coroners office. the process of identifying the victims has just wrapped up. and familes are being notified. >> mark:the people who died last night are mostly in their 20s.young adults.no minors. deputies are still working to recover more bodies. they are expected to have an update in a news conference at 8-am. we'll carry it live as it happens. and we continue our team coverage of the fire. this morning we know that a lot of issues plagued the warehouse before it caught fire on friday night. kron four's terisa estacio is live in oakland with the details. terisa? >> reporter: neighbors have been complaining about the square

house for quite some time we spoke with the woman who lives right next to the warehouse she has been calling out to city officials for a long time. she was very worried of fire clot of our and out here sadly that's exactly what has happened. going back to december 13th as a couple weeks ago there was a complaint that was filed with the city. accompli talked-about how there was trash littered all over the st. and a lot of concern that there was trash and debris inside. the property was only supposed to be for a warehouse now for living but there was compliance the people were legally leading inside and better models for living purposes building officials of as the oakland said that the fattest target was not cincture is not permitted by the city.

here were some of the warning signs before the warehouse fire.there were code violations for hazardous trash and debris. there was no evidence of sprinklers inside. interior. the building was only permitted for warehouse use. hall permit for a party. thanks terisa. we'll check back with you later. and take a look at these pictures taken last month, as we found there have been past complaints about the warehouse. these pictures were uploaded to the city of oakland website on november 13th. you can see debris cluttering the outside of the warehouse. the complaint last month said there was a lot of garbage and items cluttering the property and spilling onto the sidewalk. it also said some of the trash was hazardous. neighbors say the warehouse was remodeled and people had been living inside of it. we have reached out to the owner of the warehouse but have not heard back. we're getting a better look at what that artist collective looked like before this tragic fire ripped through. it's refered to as the ghost ship. these are pictures from the warehouse's website. we've been hearing a lot about the debris that filled this

at least ten people have been killed in a warehouse fire in oakland. this is video from the scene when firefighters arrived friday night. you can see thick smoke and flames bursting through the roof. the fire was burning through saturday morning. at least 25 people are missing this morning. oakland mayor libbay schaff spoke to some of the friends and family of the people who where at the warehouse last night. here is what she had to say. >> :"i met with a room full of people who had loved ones that are missing. and it is painful to tell them that it would be a considerable amount of time before we can give them the information and the closure that they deserve. we are working very hard to comfort those families to give them the type of support and information access that they deserve." we will air a press conference from oakland officials later this morning with more information.

you-caring dot com. so far they have raised more than 40-thousand dollars. they are matching and donating up to 30-thousand dollars each for assistance and relief for the victims of the fire. the silver and black will also observe a moment of silence before today's game against the buffalo bills. so far, tens of thousands of dollars have been donated. and the golden state warriors held a moment of silence before last nights game against the phoenix suns at oracle arena. the warriors have also announced that proceeds from last nights community foundation raffle will be donated to support family services for the fire. the team is also donating 50- thousand dollars to the unity council of oakland. and the san francisco giant's took to twitter to offer their condolences to the victims of the warehouse fire. in the tweet the giants say quote " our thoughts are with the oakland fire victims. we will support the athletics fund and urge everyone to donate." turning our attention to weather.
