were chatting with rebecca yesterday and she was talking about how the rain what going to be the hardest during the morning hours. not only do we have rebecca in the weather center, we have robin in the traffic center because when we have weather like this, there are traffic issues. let's begin in the weather center with rebecca. good morning. >> good morning. >> we're going to start off with a wide shot of the activity, the storm system that is moving through the bay area. we could even see snow showers hitting the sierra now. look at all of that rain activity. we're seeing it wide spread across the bay area and we're seeing it heavy in some spots as well. the east bay, oakland, down almost into heyward. that is really getting a soaking this morning, the yellow, the orange, very heavy rain. the nimitz freeway will be very

slick this morningened the bay bridge, we're looking at wet weather now. and cupertino, san jose, a little bit of activity, but the rain is on the way or the south bay and we're moving over to the peninsula now where we could see very heavy brain. 92 is going to be very wet and woodside right now. heading up to peninsula, we're seeing san francisco really getting a soaking this morning. and 101, 280, both of those freeway also be very slick for you. reduce your speed this morning. the north bay is very heavy down the mill valley and the golden gate bridge, also very wet. we're seeing the richmond san raphael bridge, 101, 580 be careful on both of those roadways right now. the rain will continue through most of the morning. so future cast 4 will break it all down for us. by the 6:00 hour, you can see

the real heavy rain approaching the south bay. we're going to see it really soak the entire peninsula, though, and much of the east bay. we're also going to see a little of it still sticking around. by 8:00 we're going to get pockets of dry and still we're going to have the heavy showers mostly for the south by and we're going to see it along the peninsula and also into the north bay so santa rosa is going to be very wet around the 8:00 hour. and by noontime, you can see the showers are going to continue, but they're going to lighten up for you. when i come back, i'll let you know how much you can expect today and what your weekend looks like, next. thank you. we haven't found any major hot spots, but we all know when it is raining that will lead to an increase in the spin-outs and accidents in the bay area. so be on your best behavior. drive at a reduced speed and do' forget the headlights and the wipers if you're out there.

for those of you who have to get to work this morning and into san francisco, 80 west, so far it is nice and smooth and no problem force the bay bridge. a quick trip, off to fremont street. the camera is wet here. the roads wet. be careful heading into the north bay. know the problems for 580. and we're hot spot free. no major traffic alert so far. it will be a breeze. 21 minutes there for both directions between 37 and the toll plaza and san francisco. a look at the east bay, all of the connectors, and they're doing fine so far. i think traffic will be holiday light once again. the nimitz, the east shore freeway and for our east bay communities, 680, out to union city and into fremont and also a good-looking commute. i'll take a closer look at the south bay coming up in my next report. thank you. a quick reminder, don't

forget to down load the kron 4 mobile app. days like today when we have stormy weather, not only does it give you live traffic updates, but you have live radar as well. you can track the rain yourself there in the palm of your hand as well as the breaking news alerts, so you get all of it there with the app. so check it out. now to some breaking news that we're following. the police in italy have shot and killed the man behind the christmas market attack in berlin. that shooting happened in the early morning hours in milan. the italian news agencies are reporting that anis amri pulled a gun from his backpack when he was asked to show i.d. one police officer was injured in that exching of gun fire no word on that officer's condition this morning. we're trying to find that out for you. 12 people were killed and 48 others injured when he drove a truck through a crowded christmas market in berlin. the breaking news this morning, the police have found him and

shot him dead. more breaking news now, a libyan plane has been hijacked. it landed on the aisle of malta off the coast of italy. there appears to be two hijackers on board. airport officials say there are at least 118 passengers ton manifest. malta's prime minister posted a tweet that emergency operations are underway at the airport. we're continuing to learn more details about this. stay tuned. we'll keep you updated as we learn more. we have two people in the hospital new after a shooting on a freeway in oakland. this now is the third time in as many weeks that shots rang out on a bay area freeway. it happened on eastbound 580. we have video from the scene and you can see gunshots in the cars, bullet holes. we have pictures as well on the right-hand side of your screen that is courtesy of our helicopter partnership with abc

7 news. the police received a call around 7:00 last night and closed all lanes of i-80. all lanes have since reopened. both people were shot while riding their car together. after the shooting, the car was able to get off the freeway and was able to park on fries bee and harrison. the car has several bullet holes in the driver's side, as you saw there in the video on the left, and no shooter has been identified and the condition of the two who were shot is unknown. the people who live in the area say the shooting is concerning. >> it makes me kind of nervous to get on the freeway and the motive. it is horrible that we would have anything like that happening. i think it is telling of the fact that there's a lot of stress going on in people's lives, probably bebond the traffic thing, you know, but i don't really know. i can't speak on that.

>> again, last night's shooting is the third freeway shooting in the last few weeks. the other recent shootings also happened on 580 in oakland. there was one on monday. they say one driver was tailgating another and then a gesture was exchanged between them and that's when one driver pulled out a gun and opened fire no one was hurt, but bullets did hit one of the cars. and on november 30th, you may remember there was another shooting as well, that one right off -- off of 580. a man and woman were hit. both at the time were taken to the hospital in stable condition no word on any arrests in that case. elsewhere in the east bay, one man is in the hospital and another dead after an attempted robbery in san leandro. the victim was acting in self defense when he killed the attacker. the crime has people who live in that neighborhood on edge. >> reporter: a quiet night in a san leandro neighborhood.

and two men were stabbed. one of them died in what the police say was an attempted robbery. >> i was leaving for work and i saw a bunch of police officers and other emergency lights around the neighborhood. >> reporter: some people saw the police activity. others say they heard about what happened and didn't realize they were so close to home. >> but i didn't know it was over here. i live down the street like i walk up and down the street all the time. >> reporter: the police say the victim, a ride share driver. >> the victim hesitated in some way, shape or form and was immediately stabbed a number of times. >> reporter: the police say the victim threw his wallet and rap and then noticed the suspect chasing him. >> he manages to take away the knife and then stabs the 22- year-old black male. >> reporter: the 22-year-old suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital. the victim's condition is improving. he was initially in critical condition and now he is in serious condition. we were able to talk with the

victim's brother. he did not want to talk with us on camera, but off camera he told us his brother is now doing good. the police say they don't get many calls from this area but the people who live here says it has them thinking twice walking at home alone. >> it is unfortunate. that could have been me, anyone. >> it is unsettling. i don't like hearing anyone getting stabbed where i live. keep the coors locked tonight. >> reporter: the police have not released the identity of the man who was killed. the police are investigating this case as justifiable homicide, but they say a final determination will be made by the district attorney's office. reporting in san leandro, kron 4 news. well, the efforts to help those affected by the ghost ship fire earlier this month continues, this as the club f.- 8 in san francisco held a fundraiser for the victims of that fire. the club managers say they want people to come together and celebrate the lives that were

miles per hour today. so it is going to be very windy, very rainy. just take note on the roadways, down power lines, trees, things of that nature, so if you can stick it out at home during the early morning hours and then g out in the afternoon, it is going to be a little safer because the rain is going to start to lighten up once we get through the morning. right now, storm tracker 4, you can see the yellow and the red. the orange the the screen, that's when the rain is at its heaviest. we zoom in here. you can see the east bay starting to get some very heavy rain. so from richmond to oakland, and very heavy rain right now. even in san ramone, 680 from concord and getting into dub lib. those are going to be very wet roads for you this morning. the south bay, pretty much dry conditions, but it is on the way. we're seeing sprinkles in cupertino. as we head over do the peninsula, you can see very heavy rain in half moon bay and

getting into redwood city. 101, 280, be very careful on those freeways. the north bay is also getting a heavy soaking, and into the golden gate bridge. so just be very careful on the roads. future cast 4 is going to show us how the rain will be moving through the bay area. the 6:00 hour, you can see very wide spread. we're going to have it very heavy from the south bay all the way up to the north bay. by 8:00, you can see we're going to get a couple of breaks with spotty showers. santa rosa during that hour is going to get a lot of rainfall as well as san jose. by noontime you can see it is starting to light ben up. we're going to have dry spots. once we get into the evening hours and overnight we might wake up to a shower or two tomorrow morning. now, the wind is going to really be kicking up today. these are the current conditions now. you can see pacifica, 10-mile-

per-hour winds there. mountain view. 11 for oakland. as we head to 9:00, you can see the winds starting to kick up in all areas. 15 miles per hour winds for oakland and pacifica and san jose. it is going to be sticking with us through the noontime hours as well, especially along the east bay shoreline and windy conditions as we get into the evening hours as well so just keep in mind lots of rain today so be very careful out there. let's switch it over to traffic and see how it is moving. moving very well so far, and the good news is with the wet weather moving in today, a lot of people are on vacation so hopefully your friday morning commute won't be too bad. it has been fairly quiet and much lighter so hopefully the rain won't really damper your morning ride too much. your ride here on the bridge, not bad. it is a good-looking commute. the drive time, a quick 13

minutes to get into foster city and san mateo. so no problems across your san mateo bridge. and checking out your wet commute into san francisco. no problems rolling out of oakland, but do not forget the headlights and wipers. so many people drive around in the rain with no headlights and wipers. remember, if the wipers are on, the headlights must be on, so don't forget that is the law. i don't want you to get into trouble. and your south bay commute, hot spot free so far no major problems from 101, 280, 680 and 237. nice and light so far, james. back to you. >> thank you. 4:17 is the time and the big story we're following this morning, now that the dmv has stopped uber from testing its self driving cars, the ride sharing company is taking its pilot program out of styte and they're now headed to arizona that is the latest, all this after there were concerns about

the safety of the program. uber says they have received the support of arizona's governor to test the car there. uber looks forward to completing those tests on the pilot program and then expanding their use elsewhere. the san francisco-based company debuted the pilot program in the city but drew controversy after avoiding permitting processes as well as several reports of their cars running red lights. at 4:18, only two more days until christmas and the san jose police department is warning about zero tolerance for drunk driving over the holiday weekend. as we show you, they're cracking down hard on impaired drivers. >> reporter: this dui check point is in full swing. san jose p.d. chose downtown because of all of the friend collisions and dui arrests that have happened here in the past. this is a great opportunity for police to deter not only drunks but also drugged driving as christmas day approaches. drug-impaired driving now counts for a growing number of

dui crashes and the officer also be looking for drivers that appear to be under the influence. they'll also be checking to make sure license and car registrations are valid. if they do come across a driver that seems to be under the influence, specially trained officers will take thome the side and evaluate. dui arrest includes jail time, fines, fee, license sus mentions and dui classes and other thicks that can speed $10,000. alcohol-related crashes led to 1,100 deaths and 24,000 serious injuries in 2014 because someone failed to designate a sober driver. so if you're going to drink tonight, this weekend or anytime, assign a decemberic anytime nateed driver or call a cab, uber or lyft. it is not worth getting behind the wheel. authorities say having highly visible check points such as

this one has proven to lower the number of people killed in dui crashes. reporting in san jose, kron 4 news. and well, san francisco's police union is apparently suing the city. the reason? its members are angry about the new use of force policy that new policy prohibits officers from firing at moving vehicles. the union is filing a unfair labor suit. they are arguing the policy is too limiting to officers pointing out recent terror attacks involving vehicles. the law alleges that city goshy fors made verbal agreements to allow shooting at a vehicle in exceptional circumstances and then refused to put those agreements in writing, so that is the reason behind the lawsuit. and what to do if you find yourself in a road rage situation? at least one of the freeway shootings in the last few weeks in oakland was the result of road rage. one driver tailgating another, a gesture was made and then someone pulled out a gun and started shooting. how to avoid becoming a victim.

>> it is certainly a scary reminder of the things that can happen on the freeway when people are maybe in a state of crises or a heightened state behind the wheel. >> reporter: for when that happens, agencies like aaa and insurance companies offer simple tips to minimizing your chances for becoming a victim. all of them aimed towards not engaging the driver. >> if someone is driving improperly, be sure to just let that go. these things escalate and it can get very, very serious in a hurry. >> there's not much problem solving that is going to go on between two drivers in the middle of a traffic dispute. we advise people, create distance, become away, you know, note the license plate, call 911 if it is an emergency. >> reporter: many type tips like move over if someone is tailgating you, boil down to good, old-fashioned level headed common sense. don't respond with obscene

gestures, avoid eye contact, think and react with your britain and not your emotions. >> maybe a quick wave and acknowledgement is enough. ignores them is probably a good option. >> yeah, one of the best things you can do is just keep your eyes on the road and ignore what people are doing. people give up, and if there is not a fight to be had, people generally give up and walk away. >> aaa did some research on road rage. one statistic they found, eight of 10 drivers say they showed anger, aggression or road rage at least one time in the previous year. all right. and green was a healthy scratch from golden state's game against brooklyn. he did make the trip to new york but then he came back to the bay area because his girlfriend was about to give birth to their son. we'll have more object that coming up in just a bit. let's go to the game now. early on it was clear they missed green. stef curry struggled in the first half going 1-8. the nets playing better than their 7-20

jose and the rain is still on the way. you're not in the clear yet. we are seeing sprinkles, so 280 and 101 through the south bay commute. those roadways are also going to be slick. highway 1, be careful there and san mateo down to redwood city, all of those, we're seeing the most heavy rain as of right now. the same with san francisco. completely covered here into daley city, sfo, and speaking of sfo, i'm not tracking any delays yet for inbound flights bus of visibility, but that can be changing as these early morning hours progress. so 101 getting a soaking all the way to san raphael in the valley. the north bay, we're seeing a lot of heavy rain here and even into vallejo this morning. the future cast is going to show us how the morning is going to shape up z z. you can see the heavy rain still sweeping through the bay area, especially getting into

pittsburgh and bless anton. and then at 8:00, you can see more wide spread showers. we're going to get a couple of breaks for parts of the east bay and a lot of heavy rain continues for santa rosa as well as the peninsula and into san jose. now, you can see things starting to lighten up just after the noontime hours. right after lunchtime you can see we're still going to get some showers but it is not going to be as heavy as we have been seeing all morning long a nice break at 5:00 so we're going to have a spotty shower or two passing through and really the showers will lightly continue with possible thunderstorms as we get into txcn and the evening hours. how much rain can we expect today? it is going to look here at over an inch for santa rosa expected. almost an inch for napa and san francisco. close to the inch mark for half moon bay and you can see the east bay shorelinement getting close to that half of an inch mark. outside now you can see all four or our zones except for

the south bay. our san jose camera that is dry. you can see pleasanton, and the golden gate bridge all getting rained out this morning. of course, it is on the way to the south bay. planning your day today, here is what you need to know. right now we have the rain heavy at times. by noontime the showers continue with the possible thunderstorms. by 5:00 this evening, we're still going to have the spotty showers. the wind also be kicking up anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour and the gusts kicking up to 40 miles per hour in some spots so be careful out there. the next three days you're going to wake up to morning showers tomorrow left over from today's storm. and we're tracking pretty much a dry trend for christmas day. however, temperature also be quite cold in the morning, possibly dropping down to the 20s. and with this weather, let's see how the roads are moving with robin. >> that's right, rebecca. i have already noticed a couple of spin-outs there, so this is a friendly remind tore watch

your speed. when the water hits the road, the oil comes up and people start spinning out. do not forget the headlights and wipers. you're okay for now. i'm not tracking any major problems around the bay area. your ride in from san francisco is rooking good. it is a quick nine minutes from the bottom of the maze to fremont street and that is because so many people are off this week so we're not seeing the high volume of traffic that we would normally see on a typical commute morning. 92. this is the ride across the san mateo bridge. rolling out of heyward. no privilege trouble spot force the nimitz or highway 101. if you leave now, only 13 minutes to make that trip. you're also doing fine here at the richmond bridge. the roads are slick. once again, watch your speed no big problems heading into the north bay. checking in ton drive times, they look great so far. i'm expecting light conditions throughout the bay area this morning. for highway 4, if that is your commute, just in case you do

name is not being released. the case will be handled by juvenile court. in national headlines, president-elect donald trump said in a tweet that he will look to, quote, strengthen and expand the nuclear capability of the u.s. shortly before the tweet, vladimir putin delivered a speech calling for a stronger nuclear program in russia. both men have suggested that trump's upcoming presidency will help shore up relations between the two countries. well, the president-elect's daughter, ivanka trump, also making headlines after a man reportedly began berating her on a jetblue flight to sfo. you can't see them, but trump was sitting with her young children. the man tweeted that he and his husband were removed after simply expressing displeasure, but an earlier tweet contradicts that when the man said that his husband was chasing them down to harass them. he later deleted that post and

then this whole twitter account as well. some witnesses say brooklyn attorney dan goldstein said, quote, your father is ruining the country. and then demanding to know where why ivanka was not on a private plane. jetblue workers overhead the commotion and they made the man take another flight. here is video of ivanka's flight landing at sfo and there you see her walking away from the plane with her son and daughter. her husband was also with them. ivanka is being praised by some for remaining calm. the passengers say she didn't get involved and tried to distract her children with crayons. secret service members were on board and didn't intervene and allowed the flight attendants to hand l the incident. take a look at storm tracker 4. again, we are tracking rain falling now as you can see across the entire bay area and a lot of this is on the mild to moderate and even heavy side with the darker oranges. we'll keep track of the storm.

çáááon camáááñ as we get closer to the end of 2016, we 4:39 is the time. as we get to the end of 2016; we're counting down this year's best people behaving badly segments. here is number 10. >> since san francisco mayor vetoed the bicycle proposal, i guess they will go back to following state law. i said go back to following state law. oh, never mind. and at the intersection, which is part of the wiggle. it is a very busy intersection with bus stops, seniors trying to cross the street, well, you get what i'm trying to say. it is also a four-way stop. and the key word here is stop. it is not it looks safe and then slide through. however, many cyclists say they roll through slowly, so how is this a problem? however, from what i can see,

heavy rain really spreading across the east bay now. it has spread furtherer out into san ramone, pleasanton. we were seeing it solely around the east shore freeway here and now we're seeing a lot more wide spread. this is a fast moving system so 880 affected, so be careful. sunnyvale. we are seeing some sprinkles. it is not heavy rain as of yet, but that is still on the way, so true the south bay it will be slick. the peninsula, we're seeing it completely soaked from half moon bay getting into redwood city. san francisco is completely under this heavy rain. we are looking at 101, daily city. a very wet san bruno as well. and starting to get a little lighter as far as the showers now. we saw heavy rain now and it is moving towards the san raphael.

>> he had tissue damage and ended up passing away bus of an an yourism. >> it doesn't end there. >> i have an uncle who is on dialysis and i have an aunt who is currently like me, just kind of waiting. >> reporter: waiting for a donor. it is unclear how much time she has left, so her mother took matters into her own hands. she created these signs. they posted on about two dozen cars in and around the bay area and people are responding. >> some people get returns thank you, but no, thank you, right away. others are like yes, greeted and then they have a coordinator call them and they start moving towards the blood tests and the u rine tests and all sorts of other tests. >> reporter: but so far no matches and time is running out. she should already be on dialysis. by the time one's kidneys fail, there is a list of symptoms that will be present.

>> very diplomatic. thank you. breaking news out of italy where we have heard from police now that they have shot and killed a man who was behind that christmas market attack in berlin germany. the shooting happened this morning at a train station just outside of milan. reporting that he pulled out a gun when he was confronted by police and asked to show his i.d.. that triggered a shootout, and he was shot and killed. this is video from the scene of the shooting. one officer was injured and expected to survivor. 12 people were killed, and 48 others injured when he drove through a crowded christmas market in berlin earlier this morning. a libyan airplane has been hijacked. and the plane has landed now in the island of malta off the coast of italy. it appears that there were two

hijackers on board, and as many as about 100 passengers. here is a picture of the plane sitting on the runway. we have laernled that the hijackers have threatened to -- learned that the hijackers have threatened to blowup the plane. and i learned that the passengers were getting off of the plane right now. malta a prime minister tweeted they have emergency operations underway at the airport. we will bring you more details live. police are looking for the person who opened four on an east bay freeway. you can see police there a car and crime scene tape. the car had several

bullet holes on the driver's side and here's a closer shot of it from the ground. no word on the victim's condition this morning. we're still trying to track down that information. this is the third time in the last three weeks there's been a shooting on a bay area freeway. one of the other shootings you may remember happened on 580 in oakland on monday. it was a road rage incident. one driver was tailgating another there was a gesture exchanged and one driver pulled out a gun and fired. nobody hurt in that instance. on november 30th there was another shooting off of 580 there in oakland. a man and woman were hit. both taken to the hospital in stable condition. to the east bay one man is dead and another in the hospital after an attempted robbery in san leandro. >> the victim in this case was acting in self-defense when he

killed the attacker. >> reporter: a quiet night in the san leandro neighborhood, but early thursday morning this was a crime scene. two men were stabbed, one died in what police say was an attempted robbery. >> i saw a bunch of police. >> reporter: some people saw the activity, other heard about what happened but didn't realize it was so close to home. >> i didn't know it was over here. i live down the street. >> reporter: a ride share driver was walking from his car to his home on 143rd when the suspect pull would out a knife and demanded his cellphone and wallet. >> the victim hesitated in some way, shape or form, and was immediately stabbed a number of times. >> reporter: the victim threw his wallet and ran then noticed the suspect chasing him. >> altercation ensues the male manages to take away the knife. >> reporter: the suspect was

of rainfall. the entire bay area is covered. the storm system has arrived in the bay area. east bay, a heavy soaking that's what all the yellow and orange, and red means on the screen. very heavy rainfall we're seeing this morning. the south bay more than heavy rain is starting to move across the south bay mostly showers all morning. we're really starting to see pockets of heavy rain through palo alto, millepedes getting toward san jose this morning. and the peninsula under very heavy rain conditions, san mateo, redwood city, 280 heavily affected if you're taking 237 to

they found him early this morning. there was a shootout, ended up being shot and killed by police at a train station just outside of milan. italian news agencies reporting that he pulled a gun from his backpack when he was cornered by police. they asked him for his i.d. but he went for a gun instead. there was an exchange of fire and he was killed. this video coming in from the scene they're sorting out the evidence. one police officer was injured but is expected to survive. 12 people were killed, 48 others injured when he drove a truck through a crowded christmas market in berlin. more breaking news we're following, 65 passengers have been released now from the hijacked libyan airplane. look at the new video just into kron 4 of people getting off the plane. the plane landed on malta off the coast of italy. there were two hijackers on board. officials say there were a total of 100 passengers on the plane. this is new video.

this has been unfolding live on our air. we have learned now it's not over. the hijackers are threatening to blowup the plane. malta's prime minister posted a tweet saying emergency operations are underway at the airport and we'll continue to give you more this breaking news as we continue throughout the morning. 6: 07 on the clock happening now, police are looking for the person who opened fire on an east bay freeway. two people in the hospital now this morning as a result. that shooting happened on eastbound i580 in oakland and this is video from above. our partnership with hd 7 news, and there's the police car there, the victim's car that's the white one surrounded by police crime tape. officers say they first got the call at 7:00 last night. the victim's car was able to get off the freeway and into the park there on frisbee and harrison. there's a closer look. it had several bullet holes on the driver's side. no word on the victim's condition

this morning. this is the third time in the last few weeks there's been a shootingo a bay area freeway. one of the shootings on 580 as well. it was a road rage incident. one tailgated another, there was a gesture, and one driver pulled out a gun. another shooting, also on 580, just on the off-ramp in oakland. a man and a woman remember hit taken to the hospital. the update is they're in stable condition. no word on any arrests in that case. starting tonight, the zero-tolerance policy for impaired driving during the holidays begins. they want you to drive safely. that's why they warn you about these checkpoints. police will have maximum enforcement. police in san jose got started early, they set up these checkpoints in downtown last night.

out of the north bay now. and it is creep across the rest of the bay area. here's he a nice bird's eye view on storm tracker 4 of what this storm system locks like as it is moving across the bay area. now as we take a closer look this morning, you can see the east bay completely covered by the heavy rain. you can see anywhere from oakland to san leandro and hayward 880, the nimitz freeway 238, 580 into the livermore valley and dublin interchange all is very wet. 680 through san ramon valley be careful if you are on the roads today. and lafayette, 24 getting over to the oakland maze that's going to be under a heavy soaking right now. look at this south bay we are seeing the heavy rain completely covered now. getting into san jose light scattered showers through much of the morning but now we are seeing the heavy rain activity almost covering the entire south bay. sunnyvale cupertino 280,

101heavily affected and look at this very heavy rains from half- moon bay to san mateo wood sued and all the freeways are going to be very slick. and san francisco has been covered all morning long and it's remaining that way. with the heavy rainfall, getting into and out of san francisco this morning will be extra careful. especially using the bay bridge and golden gate. both bridges under this very wet rainfall. now, you can see the north bay lightening up. we are seeing showers most of the heavy rain activity pushing out and move further east. and that's going to be getting the east bay even more wet but in a vado lightened up all the way -- and getting today golden gate. on futurecast 4 see how rain activity going to take place throughout much of the morning, you can see current conditions right now. almost covering the entire bay area but it's going to move southeast once we get closer to

the 10:00 hour and spread out lighten up a little bit especially into the early afternoon hours. right around lunchtime that's when we so a lot -- see a lot of heavy rain move out and open widespread showers. the spotty showers are going to be sticking with us all evening long into the overnight hours. and then tomorrow morning, christmas eve we might wake up to a sprinkle or two. now wind speeds right now we are looking at 10-mile-an-hour winds for oakland and 7 for hayward. 13 if you are in san jose it's kicking up there. as well as napa valley we are seeing 13-mile-an-hour winds. novato at 3, 6 for san francisco and wind speeds will be even increasing more as we get into the later part of the morning and into the afternoon and all evening it's going to be sticking with us because we will see it increase to 20 to 30 miles per hour in some spots. right now windy rain heavy at times that's what we are seeing current conditions, by noon things will lighten up as far as the rain is concerned but we

stretching into castro valley getting up to the scene. so this is fairly new. i will keep-eye on it but it's -- keep an eye on it but it's jamming up your drive. you need to leave early for 508 east westbound traffic is good. couple problems for the san mateo bridge as the rain moves in, the incidents continue to pop up. i have a stall a crash working and both in the commute direction westbound near the high rise and that's why the drive time is up. looks good on hayward side but problems are closer to the peninsula at the high rise it's about 20 minutes from 808 to 101. you okay at the bay bridge into san francisco no big problems but don't forget headlights and wipers 11 minutes from the bottom maze to the fremont street exit. east bay holiday light west 4, 15 minutes from hillcrest to 242 south 242 and south 680 wide open. no big problem and south bay is

a 3-year-old boy in a road rage incident is now behind bars. it happened in little rock arkansas police arrested 33- year-old gary holmes late last night. there's his mug shot. u.s. marshals worked with his parents to help at least make his surrender a safe one. no one was hurt. there he is on the shopping trip with his grandmother when a driver opened fire on the car and shooter thought she was not moving fast enough at a stop sign.the grandmother not injured but the boy shot in the car later died at the hospital. also new this morning, a young mother who starred in the show 16 be a pregnant is found dead. now police are trying to determine how she died. 23-year-old valerie fairman died on wednesday in a city near philadelphia. she appeared on the second season of 16 and pregnant in 2009 and 2010. her daughter now 7 years old she struggled with substance abuse and was arrested numerous times since her appearance on the show.

çáááaveriáááñ here's the latest update from the kron4 weather center. today's storm system will rapidly spread rain southward across the area early this morning. the heaviest should fall between 5-7 am. rain will turn to showers as the day progresses, with a slight chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon. those showers will diminish friday evening, but with a much colder air mass moving in and lowering snow levels to 2000 to 2500 feet by saturday morning. shower chances will continue on saturday, especially from around monterey bay southward. christmas day looks to be cold and dry, with dry weather likely to continue into next week. sunrise in san francisco is at 7:23 a.m. sunset is at 4:56 p.m. çááá2 shotáááñ
