pounds and looking gorgeous on the cover of o magazine. backpacking in the grand canyon she tells us all to live big. >> i'm hoping that a year of great adventures and experiences and enjoying life. keep turning the page. >> ms. o. is definitely living her best life now, but she confessed there was a time she couldn't battle it all. back in '89 when starring on "theewomen of brewster's place". >> i was killing myself because i was doing a television series in addition to doing the oprah show. i would finish the oprah show in the afternoon and then start the day acting and executive producing on "brewster place." i just about collapsed from exhaustion from trying to do both. >> when you're trying to jam too much into it, you're not giving enough of yourself to each. >> this year oprah made her return to acting in green leaf

and boy, it is deliciously new drama on tv. >> i am not going to be your scapegoat. you brought this on yourself! >> she owns a blues lub. >> and she has a bar and had a drinking problem and all of the things that play against type ] a couple of times, and so -- p >> is that hard for you to spit out [ bleep ]. >> not really. i can [ bleep ]. >> i used it once and stedman said i'm not going to stand here and listen to that kind of language. i wasn't even talking to him. stedman doesn't curse ever. ever! ever! >> maybe that's the secret to them being together so long. 30 years this year to be exact. oprah has certainly been an inspiration to millions of women so i know how proud she would be for shannen doherty and the 90210 star has been so brave in the way she shared her ccncer battle and when she got the frightening news that her breast

cancer had spread she opened up to our jennifer piro. >> my hair was really matted like dread locks, and i went to try to brush it out and it just fell out, and i was holding on to just huge clumps of my hair in my hands and just running to my mom crying, saying, like, my hair! my hair! my hair! >> just grab the kitchen scissors and -- my mom was, she put it in the ponytail and she just chopped it off. >> last month shannen began her first round of radiation therapy which she admits is frightening, but throughout her cancer battle the former "90210" star has been getting support including sarah michelle gellar. >> and then there is her squad including husband kurt and her mom. reminding us all that no matter what the challenge, you've got

to keep dancing. >> you and your mom seem like you're so close. she's your best friend. >> thank god. thank god she's there. thank god we're so close, and we havv such a good relationship, and i know it affects her, and i know that -- she's so strong. my mom is, you know, like, she's a steel magnolia. she's a southern girl. she'll force-feed me. >> what has the worst day been for you so far? >> i think the worst day was the confirmation that i had cancer. >> after my first treatment as i was in bed and i literally and i am so weak that i couldn't eat and couldn't drink, and my husband sat on the bed, and he was crying saying, please, please, you have to -- you can't sustain like this, shannen and that's when he ppcked me up and said i don't want to go to the doc and he picked me up and put

me in the car. my mom was right there with him, and watchiig that -- watching your family be so affected, >> what's one message that you have for your fans out there or for anyone going through something like this? >> stay strong, have faith and really lean on the people that love you and support you. embrace the good and try to stay positive and know that i'm here with you. >> and we are here with you, shannen. thank you so much for sharing your journey with not only women in the united states, but around the world. i think you've helped so many people. >> cameron matheson with his favorite interview of 2016, and as you can see behind it, it's clearly ellen degeneres. >> she had another incredible year in finding dory. i joined her wife porsha derossy and it was her mom that cracked
