restaurant was also flooded. now they're hoping it doesn't happen again. kron four's ella sogomonian shows us the steps being taking. just in case the water starts rising. "it just flooded right underneath these doors." gary champagne recounts a flood that damaged his family's salon

in tiburon two years ago. gary champagne, champagne salon and day spa "we had to open up and do the reflooring when customers were coming in to do pedicures and facials and stuff. they want a nice tranquil environment and you got contractors in here working and stuff." on top of the flood - drain pumps malfunctioned so the champagne salon and spa was one of a few businesses inside the cove shopping center that suffered tens of thousands of dollars in water damage. "if the doors are closed no money is coming in." next door the milano restaurant was also flooded and forced to cut out the carpeting which was among the many things ruined by the rain. roger milano, milano restaurant owner "we lost equipment because the water reached 6 inches we lost equipment and the carpet." friday both businesses stacked sandbags outside their doors in preparation for yet another rain storm set to hit the bay area this weekend with at least 2 inches of rain satruday and three inches sunday. neighbors in the area are concerned the heavy rain could damage their homes. robert miller, tiburon resident "we've had our creek in the backyard overflow its banks when we got a torrential downpour and so we're really worried about that this time again." but others who live atop the hills aren't worried to leat mother nature take it's course. "i got two four wheel drives you've just got to learn to batten up the hatches and live with it." breaking overnight. police are looking a man who they believe killed one person and stabbed another in berkeley. officials have identified him as 24 year old pablo gomez of north hollywood. >> marty:it all began at about midnight last night on the 26 hundred block of ridge road. that's where officers found a woman who was seriously injured. she was taken to the hospital where she is currently in stable condition. police found evidence of a violent crime on the 2400 block of ashby avenue. then, police found the body of an unidentified person. gomez is described as a hispanic man, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 110 pounds and with brown hair and brown eyes.

police consider gomez to be armed and dangerous. more breaking news. police are searching for the man who shot a 17 year old boy in santa rosa. it all happened at about 3:30 yesterday in the area of the newhall bicycle path near temple avenue. that's when police say the gunman approached the victim with a handgun and shot him. hitting him in the elbow. the gunman then ran off and drove away in an unknown sedean type car. the victim sustained non life threatening injuries. his name is unknown. and more breaking news out of the north bay.

"last time my husband had to take us in his bucket of his vehicle" this time she's prepared. she got a warning call from the placer county sheriff's department. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "we have warned a few of the residents that are in the probable danger of flooding including having our deputies go by and putting out warnings at each of the houses on the truckee river"

no evacuation orders yet. says sgt dave hunt. but if the predictions hold true. people may need to get out on their own. rescue crews could get tied up. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "if they believe their area is gonna flood and rver is rising its time to get out instead of waiting for a rescuer to try and get you out because they may no be able to get to you in the amount of time with other+ rescues that may be going on" the sheriff's department has search and rescue and dive teams on standby. to help those trapped on the land or in water. ali wolf/reporting: "here at the rainbow lodge they're trying to prevent flooding from the river by pushing the snow and essentially building a barrier to block the water" randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "well push the snow up aginst towards the highway, up against towards the river bank so its just like a big snow damn" this was what happened to the rainbow lodge in soda springs during a storm last month. the basement flooded with rushing water from the south yuba river. randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "the river will be where were standing thats how high it will be" this time, general manager randy kure is hoping the hard packed "sierra cement" will protect the lodge.

[take vo]çááávoáááñ all of them a story that's reciving national attention this morning. the four suspects accused of torturing a special needs teen in chicago appears in court. all of them were denied bail yesterday. they were also ordered by the judge to be held on hate crime, kidnapping, and battery charges. and as investigators dig deeper into the case, they have learned that one of those suspects was in contact with the victims mother. and demanded she pay them 300- dollars, this all while her son was being tortured. * *5 seconds * forced him to drink toilet water and kiss the ground. the teen was also tied and beaten. p family members of the victim say he is doing -quote- "as well as he could be at this time." they are asking for privacy while the family begins to cope and heal. welcome back to kron four news

campgrounds will remain open as will some of the guest cottages. many of the businesses around the park are expected to remain open but that could change. the bay area is not the only place that is expecting severe weather this weekend. the sierra is also expected to be hit with large amounts of snow as well. and people in the area are concerned as well. ali wolf has the details. >> reporter:a serene setting at the truckee river. a thick blanket of snow lines the icy water. it's calm now. but things are expected to change drastically come saturday. darlene fredrick's is monitoring the river from her front door.

darlene fredricks/truckee resident: "this snow is hard as rock right now" water surrounded fredrick's home in the 1997 floods. she had to leave in a hurry. darlene fredricks/truckee resident:

"last time my husband had to take us in his bucket of his vehicle" this time she's prepared. she got a warning call from the placer county sheriff's department. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "we have warned a few of the residents that are in the probable danger of flooding including having our deputies go by and putting out warnings at each of the houses on the truckee river" no evacuation orders yet. says sgt dave hunt.

but if the predictions hold true. people may need to get out on their own. rescue crews could get tied up. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "if they believe their area is gonna flood and river is rising its time to get out instead of waiting for a rescuer to try and get you out because they may no be able to get to you in the amount of time with other rescues that may be going on" the sheriff's department has search and rescue and dive teams on standby. to help those trapped on the land or in water. ali wolf/reporting: "here at the rainbow lodge they're trying to prevent flooding from the river by pushing the snow and essentialy building a barrier to block the water" randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "well push the snow up aginst towards the highway, up against towards the river bank so its just like a big snow damn" this was what happened to the rainbow lodge in soda springs during a storm last month. the basement flooded with rushing water from the south yuba river. randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "the river will be where were standing thats how high it will be" this time, general manager randy

kure is hoping the hard packed "sierra cement" will protect the lodge. from potential flood damage. bracing for a storm expected to create the highest river levels in over a decade. in the south bay. a bridge that leads in and out of a morgan hill campground and several campers are at risk ahead of this coming storm. it led to dozens of campers to head for higher ground yesterday. people who live in morgan hill say the uvas river is likely to overflow. and there is only one bridge leading in and out of the campground. they also say is at risk of flooding or even failing. people will not be allowed back to the campground until mid- january some businesses in the north bay are bracing for flooding. two years ago, parts of downtown tiburon were inudated with water. now they're hoping it doesn't happen again.
