good morning and welcome to the kron 4 morning news... i'm marty gonzalez. >> marty: good morning and welcome to the kron 4 morning news. i'm marty gonzalez. here is a live look at our kron 4 radar. and as you can see rain is the big story today. and we will be getting plenty of it this weekend all over the bay area. here is a live look outside at our bridges. as you can see roads are wet everywhere. and driving conditions will be slick anywhere you go. and our team coverage of the storm continues now in the east bay.

restaurant was also flooded. now they're hoping it doesn't happen again. kron four's ella sogomonian shows us the steps being taking. just in case the water starts rising. "it just flooded right underneath these doors." gary champagne recounts a flood that damaged his family's salon

in tiburon two years ago. gary champagne, champagne salon and day spa "we had to open up and do the reflooring when customers were coming in to do pedicures and facials and stuff. they want a nice tranquil environment and you got contractors in here working and stuff." on top of the flood - drain pumps malfunctioned so the champagne salon and spa was one of a few businesses inside the cove shopping center that suffered tens of thousands of dollars in water damage. "if the doors are closed no money is coming in." next door the milano restaurant was also flooded and forced to cut out the carpeting which was among the many things ruined by the rain. roger milano, milano restaurant owner "we lost equipment because the water reached 6 inches we lost equipment and the carpet." friday both businesses stacked sandbags outside their doors in preparation for yet another rain storm set to hit the bay area this weekend with at least 2 inches of rain satruday and three inches sunday. neighbors in the area are concerned the heavy rain could damage their homes. robert miller, tiburon resident "we've had our creek in the backyard overflow its banks when we got a torrential downpour and so we're really worried about that this time again." but others who live atop the hills aren't worried to leat mother nature take it's course. "i got two four wheel drives you've just got to learn to batten up the hatches and live with it." breaking overnight. police are looking a man who they believe killed one person and stabbed another in berkeley. officials have identified him as 24 year old pablo gomez of north hollywood. >> marty:it all began at about midnight last night on the 26 hundred block of ridge road. that's where officers found a woman who was seriously injured. she was taken to the hospital where she is currently in stable condition. police found evidence of a violent crime on the 2400 block of ashby avenue. then, police found the body of an unidentified person. gomez is described as a hispanic man, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 110 pounds and with brown hair and brown eyes.

police consider gomez to be armed and dangerous. more breaking news. police are searching for the man who shot a 17 year old boy in santa rosa. it all happened at about 3:30 yesterday in the area of the newhall bicycle path near temple avenue. that's when police say the gunman approached the victim with a handgun and shot him. hitting him in the elbow. the gunman then ran off and drove away in an unknown sedean type car. the victim sustained non life threatening injuries. his name is unknown. and more breaking news out of the north bay.

police are looking for another gunman who shot a 24 year old man in santa rosa. it happened just before 8 on the 21 hundred block of jennings avenue. the victim was shot in the abdomen and suffered non life threatening injuries. police believe the shooting may have been gang realted. and breaking news we're following out of vallejo. firefighters are at the scene of a house fire. here is video from the scene. it happened around 5:00 this morning on the 900 block of tobin drive. no word yet on any injuries. we'll keep you updated throughout the morning. and if you might be driving this weekend when the rain is expected to flood some roadways. the national weather service has some tips for driving in the rain. first they want you to know that just 12 inches of water is enough to carry away a small car and >> marty:18 inches is enough to carry away most cars including large s-u-v's. they also say it is impossible to tell the depth of water covering a roadway or the condition of the rod below. the say if you see large puddles on the roads. do not drive through them. turn around. and here are a few thngs the national weather service reccomends you do have ready for this weekend's storm. have a communications plan and have a specific person identified in case something happens. assemble an emergency kit that has plenty of food, water and medicine on hand for at least 3 days. know if your home, business or school is at risk for flooding and prepare accordingly. and sign up for notifications to stay informed about local weather conditions. and speaking of signing up for notificaitons. make sure you have the free kron-4 mobile app to track the rain this week. be the first to know about severe traffic and weather in your area. we'll keep you updated through breaking news push alerts. and be sure to tune into kron 4 morning news tomorrow morning for full and complete team

surroundings. and never turn your back to the ocean. public works crew >> marty:on the peninsula. the city of pacifica has closed its pier because of the incoming storm. the city announcing that the pier at sharp park closed at 10 last night. high winds and high tides are expected to pound the coastline. making for very treacherous conditions. city officials remind people to pay attention to your surroundings. and never turn your back to the ocean. public works crews say they will re-evaluate the status of the pier on monday and decide if it is safe to reopen. live look outside. richmond bridge periods of mainly light rain today with gusty southerly winds as the first wave of moisture moves onshore. some areas may see a lull in activity this afternoon before the main rain event moves over the area this evening and then overnight into sunday with periods of heavy rain. rain will slowly taper from north to south by early monday moring. showers linger on monday with cooler temperatures before warm advection rains start monday night into tuesda as the next rain storm moves onshore. the tuesday system will be colder and not as wet as the weekend system. pattern remains active with another system possible by late in the week.

arrested near his home in the mission bay neighborhood. investigators say they were able to trace the source of the uploaded content. and identified jones as the suspect. they say they found hundreds of files on digital media. they are also looking into whether he traveled to london, england and had some sort of sexual contact with a child there. bart cleared up an electrical problem that stalled one of it's trains for two hours yesterday. nearly a thousand people found themselves stuck on the train at the west oakland station. this all happened during commute hours friday morning, >> marty:that caused passengers to be late for work and started a domino effect leaving riders stuck. footage from our helicopter partnership with a-b-c news shows that disabled train. bart officials say they are launching an effort to rebuild the system with voter approved money to help end these problems. breakdown terisa's stuff on the bart problem this morning. she fed in the raw. bcn16:regional: update: bart service resumes into sf after broken train cleared from west oakland station bcn16 -update on advisory bart service has resumed into san francisco this morning after a disabled bart train was cleared from tracks at the west oakland station but the broken train caused severe delays throughout the system this morning, bart officials said. the train became disabled on the san francisco-bound tracks at about 7:20 a.m., bart spokesman jim allison said. it was headed to san francisco international airport. bart service into san francisco was halted. it took until nearly 9 a.m. to clear the disabled train from th tracks and resume service on both tracks through the transbay tube, allison said. allison didn't immediately know what caused the train to become disabled. happening now. the san francisco police union is saying the change of the recent use of force policy is partially to blame for an officer involved shooting. the shooting happened around 4:00 in the morning friday when officers responded to a dispute between neighbors who live in the ocean view nieghborhood. police say a confrontation lead to officers shooting the suspect after two of them sustained injuries. the police officers union says officers were forced to shoot the suspect because the city's

"last time my husband had to take us in his bucket of his vehicle" this time she's prepared. she got a warning call from the placer county sheriff's department. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "we have warned a few of the residents that are in the probable danger of flooding including having our deputies go by and putting out warnings at each of the houses on the truckee river"

no evacuation orders yet. says sgt dave hunt. but if the predictions hold true. people may need to get out on their own. rescue crews could get tied up. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "if they believe their area is gonna flood and rver is rising its time to get out instead of waiting for a rescuer to try and get you out because they may no be able to get to you in the amount of time with other+ rescues that may be going on" the sheriff's department has search and rescue and dive teams on standby. to help those trapped on the land or in water. ali wolf/reporting: "here at the rainbow lodge they're trying to prevent flooding from the river by pushing the snow and essentially building a barrier to block the water" randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "well push the snow up aginst towards the highway, up against towards the river bank so its just like a big snow damn" this was what happened to the rainbow lodge in soda springs during a storm last month. the basement flooded with rushing water from the south yuba river. randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "the river will be where were standing thats how high it will be" this time, general manager randy kure is hoping the hard packed "sierra cement" will protect the lodge.

from potential flood damage. bracing for a storm expected to create the highest river levels in over a decade. in the south bay. a bridge that leads in and out of a morgan hill campground and several campers are at risk ahead of this coming storm. it led to dozens of campers to head for higher ground yesterday. people who live in morgan hill say the uvas river is likely to overflow. and there is only one bridge leading in and out of the campground. they also say is at risk of flooding or even failing. people will not be allowed back to the campground until mid- january some businesses in the north bay are bracing for flooding. two years ago, parts of downtown tiburon were inudated with water. now they're hoping it doesn't happen again. kron four's ella sogomonian shows us the steps being taking. just in case the water starts rising. the deaths occurred in monterey, solano and napa counties. officials are urging people to get their flu shots. they say it's not too late to in addition to the vaccine, health officials say cover your they also say avoid touching your face and wash your hands as often as possible. live look outside. san francisco

"last time my husband had to take us in his bucket of his vehicle" this time she's prepared. she got a warning call from the placer county sheriff's department. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "we have warned a few of the residents that are in the probable danger of flooding including having our deputies go by and putting out warnings at each of the houses on the truckee river" no evacuation orders yet. says sgt dave hunt.

but if the predictions hold true. people may need to get out on their own. rescue crews could get tied up. sgt. dave hunt/placer county sheriff's office: "if they believe their area is gonna flood and river is rising its time to get out instead of waiting for a rescuer to try and get you out because they may no be able to get to you in the amount of time with other rescues that may be going on" the sheriff's department has search and rescue and dive teams on standby. to help those trapped on the land or in water. ali wolf/reporting: "here at the rainbow lodge they're trying to prevent flooding from the river by pushing the snow and essentialy building a barrier to block the water" randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "well push the snow up aginst towards the highway, up against towards the river bank so its just like a big snow damn" this was what happened to the rainbow lodge in soda springs during a storm last month. the basement flooded with rushing water from the south yuba river. randy kure/rainbow lodge manager: "the river will be where were standing thats how high it will be" this time, general manager randy

kure is hoping the hard packed "sierra cement" will protect the lodge. from potential flood damage. bracing for a storm expected to create the highest river levels in over a decade. in the south bay. a bridge that leads in and out of a morgan hill campground and several campers are at risk ahead of this coming storm. it led to dozens of campers to head for higher ground yesterday. people who live in morgan hill say the uvas river is likely to overflow. and there is only one bridge leading in and out of the campground. they also say is at risk of flooding or even failing. people will not be allowed back to the campground until mid- january some businesses in the north bay are bracing for flooding. two years ago, parts of downtown tiburon were inudated with water. now they're hoping it doesn't happen again.
