the people in the zone not to drink the tap water. a couple of crews just pulled here with a couple of free bottled water. but they are disturbing and the flood zone. people are trying to come back bay cleanup work --clean up their house, as if they do not have enough to worry about. >> reporter:the flood waters that wreaked havoc with scores of homes here on lovers lane in hollister left it's calling card in the form of thick, greasy mud. dennis palmer says it's eveerywhere and the damage is widespread. >>dennis palmer/home damaged in flood-- i will have to live up all my carpet and drywall. both cars are damaged with water inside the cars. >> reporter:palmer says the water was two feet deep at one point. the flood has reced some but the road and many a driveway are still underwater. residents can be seen ripping out ruined flooring. garages are trashed, fences are down everywhere and farmers have suffered big losses too. >>chuck lenzi/farmer --

>> catherine:there are more road closures in the east bay today. this one is on marsh creek road in the brentwood area. during this recent storm mudslides have become an ongoing problem along marsh creek road. >> grant:out of an abundance of caution, contra costa county public work crews have closed the roadway.for now, we sent kron4's haaziq madyun out to marsh creek road to get an update on how long the road will be closed. >> reporter:so you guys had to turn around here huh? >>"yes" >> reporter:what's the problem? >>"it's flooding i guess that way" >> reporter:a dangerous mix of mudslides and flooding here on marsh creek road in unincorporated brentwood.means this road is closed contra costa county public works crews spent the day this hill above the roadway >>"marsh creek road, we've had numerous mud runs,

rockslides, just debris on the road, so our crews have been cleaning it since the storm occurred on tuesday" >> reporter:multiple days of rain has saturated the hills creating hazardous conditions for motorists. just take a look, driving across this mud covered road is slippery business >>"the only thing we can do is to close the road" >> reporter:that is bad news says alaina preston >>"well we are already like, lost, so we had to come up this way just to turn around" >> reporter:contra costa county public works crews were also busy here in martinez, clearing a mudslide between highway 4 and carquinez scenic drive >>"it also has multiple mud runs that are being cleanup right now" >> reporter:contra costa county public works officials say the closures for both mcewen road and marsh creek are expected to continue until 5pm friday.in contra costa county haaziq madyun kron4news.

>> reporter:county crews have been working hard to clean up debris and quickly repair a large section of alhambra road that collapsed into pinole creek during the storms. >> reporter:today a fence went up around creek.blocking anyone from getting too close to the area as repairs are underway. >> reporter:pinole creek washed away more than 10- feet of roadway during tuesday night's storm.making the area dangerous and the ground unstable. >> reporter:the mayor of pinole found the new fence reassuring. >> reporter:alhambra valley road will be closed from castro ranch road to bear creek road indefinitely. >>crews are unsure how long exactly the project will take. >> grant:another sinkhole that crews are dealing with is in orinda.where road closures heavily trafficked area. this is northbound miner road near camino lenada. >> grant:and because of the size of the sinkhole crews say it could take a couple of weeks to repair. they say it's about 15-feet deep right now.

>> grant:luckily no one was injured.the drivers who discovered the sinkhole were able to stop before they drove into it. >> catherine:storms this week have brought the sierra nevada its heaviest snow in six years. crews have been moving tons of snow off the roads - around the clock. inches of new snow expected today. >> catherine:there's a winter storm warning for the sierra.in effect until 10- pm. several ski resorts have closed.some of them getting blasted with as much as 9 and 10 feet of snow in just a couple of days. >> catherine:and it's been a struggle to keep i-80 open - with wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour. travel conditions remains dangerous -- and even the locals are amazed at the huge amount of snow. >> catherine:he's talking about downed power lines and outages. crews are cutting down snow- covered branches hanging near power lines. >> snowboarding. but, it is too much snow to snowboard.

>> the want to make sure that the public is aware from this area. with down powerlines >> catherine:also today -- there were some scary moments for a fedex truck driver.who began sliding and losing control as he headed down a mountain highway in truckee. >> catherine:something apparently went wrong with the brake lines - and they locked up. the c-h-p stayed nearby and the driver eventually managed to get down the mountain safely. >> grant:there is a winter storm warning still in effect in the sierra - with more snow on the way. chief meteorologist brittney shipp is back with more on this. brit? >> brittney: that is going to be the place to begin this weekend. but, we do have a winter storm warning
