our big story this morning. the legendary ringling brothers and barnum and bailey circus is folding it's tents after 146- years. the circus says it is closing for financial reasons. animal rights activists have long charged the circus with animal abuse on their performing elephants and tigers. kron4 four's ella sogomonian was at the animal rights center in berkeley and shows reaction from activists. after more than 100 years of entertaining crowds across america - the ringling brothers and barnumb bailey circus is coming to an end. last year elephants were discountinued in shows- but the circus still has lions tigers llamas and other animals they use. animal rights activists in berkeley are ecstatic about the news saying they sympathize with the employees who will now be out of a job work are happy animals who were forced to perform will now be set free. zach graff, berkeley animal rights center >> :"i'm absolutely elated and

following this morning. police arrested two suspects in connecion with pimping and pandering following a prostitution bust in rohnert park. it happened here on redwood drive at the leasure massage parlor. after receiving several complaints about possible prostitution, an officer posed as a customer. and when a masseuse offered the undercover officer a sexual act for extra cash, she was arrested and cited for prostitution. another woman was also arrested for online prostitution after she agreed to meet an undercover officer. the business's city permit is temporarily suspended while the investigation continues.. happening now. kron four brought you images of another giant sinkhole in pacifica friday. today, we're continuing to look into how long the repairs will take. kron four's spencer blake talked to people affected by the big sinkhole. this heavy machinery will soon be digging, tearing, and ultimately fixing this giant sinkhole. + it opened up to about 40 feet across fridayin a parking lot on edgemar avenue, prompting a street closure between arroyo and milagra. >> :"my husband actually said there was a sinkhole, and i was bringing my son to his friend's house dwn the street. i saw it and i was like, 'holy smokes! that's pretty large!' so i brought my little one back to check it out and get some videos." >> reporter:this woman who lives just up the street from the sinkhole off of esplanade avenue wasn't the only one intrigued enough to take pictures. several members of true jesus church came to look after

"some church members say they recall the hole being there for a while now, but it used to be smaller before the storm an d only blocked off a portion of the parking lot, but now, as you can see, the whole thing is blocked off." "yeah, it's been there a long time, and it's just inconvenient to get past." the repair work should take about six weeks. now that construction equipment is here, crews will start the actual repair work on monday. inconvenienced nor frustrated with the citydespite all the chain link fences. in pacifica, spencer blake, kron four news. an east bay community remembered a young woman's birthday by giving back. in 20-13, 21 year old kristina chesterman was killed by a drunk driver. since then, her family has been building a clinic in nigeria in her name. kron four's hermela aregawi spoke to the family and shows us the the story you'll only see on kron four. kristina chesterman would have been 25 years old today. her familytells me her birthday is a particularly hard day for them. so this year they decided to celebrate it by holding a fundraiser here. the proceeds will go towards completing a clinic in nigeria. in kristina's memory.

the march and rally remained peaceful. one of many demonstrations expected across the bay area before president-elect trump is sworn into office. in san jose. nats- "standup for your rights." philippe djegal, kron four news. other big news we're following this morning. controversial speaker milo yianno-poulos gathered his supporters at u-c davis. this after university officials canceled his speaking event there because of protests. yianno-poulos claims the university administration told him not to go on stage. but davis college repubicans say that they cancelled the event because of the threat to student safety. yiannopoulos was expected to speak at u-c berkeley next month but that appearance is in jeopardy. the students who invited him have to cover a security fee. the university reportedly asking for more than 6-thousand dollars. a fee the organizers say is too high. several protests are planned should the speech happen as

scheduled on february first. some roadways have been reopened after last weeks storms caused series flooding. you're looking at video taken by our quad-copter-four drone on thursday of highway 37 in marin county. as you can see, the lanes in both direction were submerged underwater. and now, officials say all lanes of highway 37 eastbound are reopened. the ramps from highway 101 have opened as well. however, westbound lanes between atherton avenue and highway 101 remain closed. there is no estimate as to when

that section will reopen. and the silverado trail in napa county remains closed. rock slides earlier this week blocked several stretches of the roadway. it is expected to take several more days before everything is cleared. but, officials say there is a chance the road could reopen by next friday. and del valle park in livermore is still close as well because of flooding. the lake there flooded during the storms, creating swamp like campgrounds. the park needs the water to recede so it can cleanup the mess from all the water. after a year of fighting. city college of san francisco has won it's bid to stay accredited. the accrediting commision for community and junior colleges confirmed renewing the school's accreditation for seven years. this comes after c-c-s-f was granted restoration status last year. that means the school had at least 2 years to prove why it should remain open. city college of san francisco officials are calling this the biggest win in the school's 70 plus years of existence. they say the community college will now focus on it's efforts to educate students in programs such as stem-cell research and medical imaging. still ahead. clean-up efforts continue in the bay area after last week's storms. we'll show you what volunteers found, next on kron four news weekend. live look outside. san francisco international airport. for the weekned. it's the annual magnolia bloom in san francisco. come out and marvel at nearly 100 rare and historic magnolias. it's all happening at the botanical garden from 7:30 to 4. the event is free to attend.

the timing of this cleanup is perfect this year mainly because the big storms pushed a lot of trash into the bay and on to the shore line. between the strong winds, strong tides as well as strong rains it has brought an army of what i call treasures to our shore line for these volunteers to pick up those treasures were all along the shoreline and floating in the estuary. trash that was carelessly thrown on city streets and found there way to alameda. after that big storm that's when all this garbage washes up, it's a great time to get rid of it all. those volunteering combed the shoreline filling bags with all that had come ashore. they came to realize that the problem has come from that carelessness. >> :we just need to stop throwing away our garbage up in the cities because is just goes in the gutters and makes its way down here. as discouraging of what the winter storms have brought to the alameda shoreline these volunteers were pleased to make it a little better. all this trash it's kind of depressing but now we're here to make this place nice and

have to cover a security fee. the university reportedly asking for more than 6-thousand dollars. a fee the organizers say is too high. several protests are planned should the speech happen as scheduled on february first. some roadways have been reopened after last weeks storms caused series flooding. you're looking at video taken by our quad-copter-four drone on thursday of highway 37 in marin county. as you can see, the lanes in both direction were submerged underwater. and now, officials say all lanes of highway 37 eastbound are reopened. the ramps from highway 101 have opened as well. however, westbound lanes between atherton avenue and highway 101 remain closed. there is no estimate as to when that section will reopen. and the silverado trail in napa county remains closed.

rock slides earlier this week blocked several stretches of the roadway. it is expected to take several more days before everything is cleared. but, officials say there is a chance the road could reopen by next friday. and del valle park in livermore is still closed as well because of flooding. the lake there flooded during the storms, creating swamp like campgrounds. the park needs the water to recede so it can cleanup the mess from all the water. after a year of fighting. city college of san francisco has won it's bid to stay accredited. the accrediting commision for community and junior colleges confirmed renewing the school's accreditation for seven years. this comes after c-c-s-f was granted restoration status last year. that means the school had at least 2 years to prove why it should remain open. city college of san francisco officials are calling this the biggest win in the school's 70 plus years of existence. they say the community college will now focus on it's efforts to educate students in programs such as stem-cell research and medical imaging. still ahead. clean-up efforts continue in the bay area after last week's storms. we'll show you what volunteers found, next on kron four news weekend.

live look outside. san francisco international airport. for the weekned. it's the annual magnolia bloom in san francisco. come out and marvel at nearly 100 rare and historic magnolias. it's all happening at the botanical garden from 7:30 to 4. the event is free to attend. the clean up efforts from last weeks storms continue. and as kron 4's jeff pierce shows us, some volunteers found a lot more than debris at bay area beaches. >> reporter:dozens of volunteers gathered at the alameda estuary saturday to take care of one of the negative results of last weeks storms. the timing of this cleanup is perfect this year mainly because the big storms pushed a lot of trash into the bay and on to the shore line. between the strong winds, strong tides as well as strong rains it has brought an army of what i call treasures to our shore line for these volunteers to pick up those treasures were all along the shoreline and floating in the estuary. trash that was carelessly thrown on city streets and found there way to alameda. after that big storm that's when all this garbage washes up, it's a great time to get rid of it all. those volunteering combed the shoreline filling bags with all that had come ashore. they came to realize that the problem has come from that carelessness. we just need to stop throwing away our garbage up in the cities because is just goes in the gutters and makes its way down here.

county. as you can see, the lanes in both direction were submerged nderwater. and now, officials say all lanes of highway 37 eastbound are reopened. the ramps from highway 101 have opened as well. however, westbound lanes between atherton avenue and highway 101 remain closed. there is no estimate as to when that section will reopen. and the silverado trail in napa county remains closed. rock slides earlier this week blocked several stretches of the roadway. it is expected to take several more days before everything is cleared. but, officials say there is a chance the road could reopen by next friday.

>> reporter:dozens of volunteers gathered at the alameda estuary saturday to take care of one of the negative results of last weeks storms. the timing of this cleanup is perfect this year mainly because the big storms pushed a lot of trash into the bay and on to the shore line. between the strong winds, strong tides as well as strong rains it has brought an army of what i call treasures to our shore line for these volunteers to pick up those treasures were all along the shoreline and floating in the estuary. trash that was carelessly thrown on city streets and found there way to alameda. after that big storm that's when all this garbage washes up, it's a great time to get rid of it all.
