officials issued a flash flood warning for that area until about 4:15. a temporary shelter has been set up in cooperation with american red cross at the veteran's hall at san benito street and 7th street. another area that's been hit hard is san anselmo. the creek there is lower then it was last week after heavy rains slammed the area.

>> marty: here is a look at some of the new medical findings released this week: depression is just as dangerous for your heart as obesity and high blood pressure. that is according to a ten year study out of germany. the report found that depression causes 15 percent of cardiac arrests. that is just lower than the 21 percent of heart attacks caused by obesity. more than eight percent are caused by high blood pressure. the world health organization warns the findings are extremely important since depression affects 350 million people worldwide. abortion rates in the united states have dropped to the

daybreak. ron and what bill clinton for some forecasts coming up a bit. >> marty:the second wave of the stormy weather is taking a toll in castro valley. a tree fell on a car and injured a driver, yesterday afternoon. these are pictures of the scene sent in by a viewer. + it happened along crow canyon road. police say, at least one adult inside the vehicle was injured. the identity or condition of the victim remains unknown this morning.

a power line was also brought down by the tree. causing an isolated power outage. meanwhile, the south bay is getting slammed by the storm. and there is little time left for people in the santa cruz mountains to dry out and clean up. all before tomorrow's next big storm. kron four's rob fladeboe shows you some of the damage from the second of three bay area storms. nats >> reporter:the heaviest rain is over, at least for now, but the runoff is still pouring down out of the mountains here along highway 9 in felton. i found joe english sand-bagging what was once a small drain beside his home. but after a tree came down, the drain became a torrent and english is trying to divert the water away from his home amid the potential for a slide.

sot joe english/home threatened by run off highway nine is closed at glen garry drive. a half mie ahead a the road is again blocked for the second time this week by a large slide. as much as an inch of rain per hour overnight has created waterfalls where before there was just a trickle. here in felton grove, just south of the covered bridge, the flashy san lorenzo river stopped just short of flood stage as residents are keeping their fingers crossed. sot karen durham/lives next to river on the border between santa cruz and scotts valley, a 100-foot tall fir tree came down, grazing a home here on carbonera drive, but smashing a ick up in the driveway. no one was hurt. owner david potts, who had play lumber jack to get out, suspects the tree was weaken by the drought. sot david potts/home and truck damaged by tree once again, mountain roads like granite creek in scotts valley are swamped amid dozens of new rock and mud slides. the water is undermining culverts and driveways. and here in paradise park, also along the san lorenzo river, a few low lying garages are under water, but the river stopped just short of causing serious damage and the worst is over, at least for now. standup closer and many people across the bay area are still recovering from the flooding caused by recent storms. kron four's jeff pierce shows us a street in san francisco that's now facing sewer issues. >> reporter:residents of the one hundred block of cayuga avenue were trying to salvage what they could after their street flooded from a backed up sewer line. one resident took these images of water that innundated the. street. it's four eighteen in the morning. the man holes just popped.

at four in the morning we heard the gurgling from the toilet. this time we were able to move our car before it floated away. we got it out of the driveway just before the whole street became an ocean of water. i thought it would be okay because the firefighters came and unclogged everything but i guess it was too late the damage was already done. raoul cobar was not so fortunate. he was vacuming sewer water out f his car.

kevin fat/restaurant group manager: "in our 14 years in folsom we have not experienced something like this before." the poster first shared the story on thursday night. saying she was posting for a friend who doesn't have a facebook account. the woman writes that her friend was disturbed when a rat reportedly ran around her feet last night. the woman says her friend notified her server at fats asian bistro no manager came over. instead the check arrived with the 'seen rat' discount on the bill. kevin fat/restaurant group manager: "that's something that that manager at the time thought was appropriate. learning lesson." fat stands by his staff though, saying he believes they acted appropriately. he says they immediately contacted pest control who responded and didn't find any sign of rats. the social media post made its way to the sacramento county environmental management department. a health inspector visited inspected the restaurant today and tells fox40 they found no evidence of a rodent infestation. phone interview: ' "for example there was no droppings there was no live or dead bodies, no nesting, no gnawed food packages." additionally, the restaurant passed scheduled inspections last year with no mention of rodents. however, the health inspector says a rat could have been inside at some point. phone interview: "i think with the weather its possible that one came in maybe the back door and maybe wandered around the dining room as was chased back out." karma dickerson/reporting: "and, kevin fat says that while a rat never has been found on the property, they do take the issue seriously and they are making efforts to reach out to the person who had the bad experience. reporting from folsom, karma dickerson, fox 40 news." the manager of the restaurant says despite never seeing a rat in the establishment.

he's taking this situation very seriously. and is working to reach out to the customer who had the bad experience. in national news this morning. a college president in missouri says he was only trying to be kind to a homeless student but it led to his firing. just for offering a shelter from the extreme cold. the president says he felt it was the right thing to do.thinking his decision could mean life or death. tempertatures were expected to drop below zero in missouri. when the college president learned one of his students would be sleeping in the snow he offered a warm shelter in the library. p it was a decision that got him fired. the homeless student did not steal or damage anything, but the school says there was risk to the equipment and building. the president says he and others around the campus are trying to help the student find subsidized housing. he has worked in education for 35years and says knows he took a risk, but he chose to protect a student's safety. michelle obama has spent the last week saying her final farewells as first lady. >> marty:on wednesday evening, she tweeted a picture of her and barak obama with the caption quote: "being your first lady has been the honor of a lifetime. from the bottom of my heart, thank you." she also published a video of herself taking a sentimental walk through the white house with the first dogs, sunny and bo. n his speech yesterday. barack obama jokingly admitted he and michelle were "milking" their goodye. and here's video of the obamas arriving in southern california yesterday.

over. instead the check arrived with the 'seen rat' discount on the bill. kevin fat/restaurant group manager: "that's something that that manager at the time thought was appropriate. learning lesson." fat stands by his staff though, saying he believes they acted appropriately. he says they immediately contacted pest control who responded and didn't find any sign of rats. the social media post made its way to the sacramento county environmental management department. a health inspector visited inspected the restaurant today and tells fox40 they found no evidence of a rodent infestation. phone interview: "for example there was no droppings there was no live or dead bodies, no nesting, no gnawed food packages." additionally, the restaurant passed scheduled inspections last year with no mention of rodents. however, the health inspector says a rat could have been inside at some point. phone interview: "i think with the weather its possible that one came in maybe the back door and maybe wandered around the dining room as was chased back out."

"if you wanted me back, you coulda just asked me." vin diesel returns as extreme athlete turned government operative xander cage in the aptly-titled "triple-x: return of xander cage." paramount estimates its action threequel's opening in the high teens to 20- million or so. "franchise, franchise, franchise!" elsewhere, michael keaton has a plan to turn a little burger joint called mcdonald's into something bigger in "the founder," and brett dalton plays an actor who fakes his faith to be cast in a church christmas play in "the resurrection of gavin stone." both are opening in far fewer theaters than "split" and "triple-x," and figure to bring in far less dough. in hollywood, i'm david daniel a highway in wisconsin was covered with thousands of red skittles. take a look at this. it turns out the sweet treats were going to be given to cows. some farmers are putting skittles in their cattle feed they say it is a cheaper source of feed for the cows but it must be done with caution. according to farmers, in moderation, skittles can provide a cow with extra energy.
