despite the temporary block, the executive order still affects students in the u-s that are using f-1 visas. those that were issued before the travel ban have been revoked. and now, a stanford univeristy freshman from yemen has joined forces with the a-c-l-u to sue the president. kron 4's ella sogomonian explains the inspiration behind this .. stanford university freshman hadil al-mowafak is suing the president of the united states. hadil al-mowafak/suing president "i cannot leave the country now i cannot go back home and see my family."she is one of foreigners from seven majority-muslim countries who had their visas canceled because of president donald trump's executive order according to the state department."in yemeni revolution we took to the streets because there was so much corruption and unjustice i didn't expect to face the same issues in america the land of democracy."the order is forcing the yemeni native to choose between one of the highest ranked schools in american education and visting her husband back home. another big story we are following... the mayor of berkeley is defending the police response to the violent protests earlier this week. this comes as the cleanup around the campus continues. it all started with a demonstration against a planned speech by a controversial conservative breitbart news editor wednesday night. protests began peacefully but one group began setting fires, destroying property and even shooting fireworks at officers. berkeley police have been criticized by some who question what appeared to be a hands off tactic by police. however, the mayor says although there was some property damage, more people could have gotten hurt. our police did prioritize life safety over property, i think the concern was one was injured, there were a few assaults, i assaults happened some on the berkeley campus, some community, a lot of people could have been hurt the city is still calculating the cost of the damage that was done wednesday. u-c berkely police officials say

they made one arrest for failiure to dispurse from an unlawful assembly. coming up... east bay freeway drivers are on edge after a women had her window broken while driving. who police believe is responsible for it. and... a couple mysteriously dies in their home in the east bay. what caused their deaths. also.. it's the most imporant meal of the day. why you shouldn't skip breakfast anymore.

police in the east bay have released a cause of death after a young couple was found dead along with 2 cats inside their home. the berkeley police department says 35-year- old roger morash and his 32-year-old wife valerie died from acute carbon monoxide intoxication. officers say the deaths were an accident. investigators are still working to identify the specific source of the carbon monoxide. coming up... the future of 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick is up in the air. where he may be playing next season. live look outside... richmond bridge

your area with breaking news push alerts. it's a free download for both andriod and i-phone users. the investigation continues this morning... into a deadly officer-involved shooting that happened near squaw valley in placer county. the c-h-p says the problem began when a deputy spotted a suspected d-u-i driver yesterday. the man was described as driving 'erratically' on highway 29.. officers say there were a couple of attempts to chase him down. his car was finally stopped with spike strips. the c-h-p says they tried to negotiate, but once he got out of the car and began pointing a gun at his passenger and other cars, officers had to shoot. it's one of the largest opium seizures in california history. police seized more than four-thousand pounds of opium pods in mountain view... the street value of about four- hundred thousand dollars. and now, two people are in jail this morning. kron four's charles clifford shows us to the neighborhood where

this all happened. the mountain view police department says that back in october, they received a tip that 34-year-old jasvir singh and his wife, 45-year-old donna santo were receiving large quantities of poppy pods from overseas.over the next few months, investigators say they learned that the pair would store the shipments in lockers, grind the pods into a powder and sell them as opium tea.sotand this tea, if you consume it every day, you will be fully addicted and dependent in a week or two. police arrested singh and santo on tuesday without incident at their home here along monroe drive. inside their apartment investigators found about 50 pounds worth of poppy pods and $30,000 in cash. they discovered 4,000 pounds of poppy pods in storage lockers with a street value of about $400,000.sotand it was cheek by jowl. floor to ceiling.

morning. in the east bay. more than a hundred people gathered outside a mosque... to show opposition to the president's executive orders on immigration and travel. refugees being turned away, visas revoked and worry over america's perception around the world were the inspirations behind yesterday's demonstration. people representing many different religions formed a circle outside the walnut creek islamic center... they joined in prayer saying they stand in support of the wounded muslim communities across the country. we fall apart. shortly after the demonstration, local inter- faith leaders discussed how local groups are supporting the muslim community. the people who attended the rally say they will continue to call for love, peace and tolerance. water customers in the south bay may see their bills go down a bit. as the

happening now. the united states is leveling new sanctions against iran. it's the first concrete action against the country after the white house put tehran "on notice" earlier in the week. the sanctions come at the same time president trump accuses iran of "playing with fire" for testing a ballistic missile. in his tweet friday morning, the president also said iran doesn't "appreciate how 'kind' president obama was to them" adding "not me!" the new sanctions target individuals and companies linked to iran's ballistic missile program. iran's foreign minister says the new sanctions are illegal... and contrary to american obligations and against a united nations security council resolution. the president also tweeting this morning... quote: "interesting that certain middle eastern countries agree with the ban. they know if certain people are allowed in it's death and destruction." in national headlines... a florida man is in jail

this morning after a road rage incident. a witness says it started when the driver of a pick-up truck accused the driver of a toyota of driving recklessly. that's when camry driver got out of his car and began punching the teenage truck driver. the teen and his girlfriend were in the car with their 11-month old child. the suspect began walking back to his car saying he was going to shoot them.. the teen then backed his truck into the camry to stop the threat. police say the suspect is facing battery among several other charges and the teen will not be charged. two new movies open up this weekend... but can they compete with the big football game on sunday?é we'll show you next on kron four news weekend. live look outside... san francisco international airport. here is a live look at the kron 4 radar. scattered showeres throughout the bay area.

four's charles clifford shows us to the neighborhood where this all happened. the mountain view police department says that back in october, they received a tip that 34-year-old jasvir singh and his wife, 45-year-old donna santo were receiving large quantities of poppy pods from overseas.over the next few months, investigators say they learned that the pair would store the shipments in lockers, grind the pods into a powder and sell them as opium tea.sotand this tea, if you consume it every day, you will be fully addicted and dependent in a week or two. police arrested singh and santo on tuesday without incident at their home here along monroe drive. inside their apartment investigators found about 50 pounds worth of poppy pods and $30,000 in cash. they discovered 4,000 pounds of poppy pods in storage lockers with a street value of about $400,000.sotand it was cheek by jowl. floor to ceiling.

shooting that happened near squaw valley in placer county. the c-h-p says the problem began when a deputy spotted a suspected d-u-i driver yesterday. the man was described as driving 'erratically' on highway 29.. officers say there were a couple of attempts to chase him down. his car was finally stopped with spike strips. the c-h-p says they tried to negotiate, but once he got out of the car and began pointing a gun at his passenger and other cars, officers had to shoot. it's one of the largest opium seizures in california history. police seized more than four-thousand pounds of opium pods in mountain view... the street value of about four- hundred thousand dollars.

water customers in the south bay may see their bills go down a bit. as the district has changed its requirments because of the recent rain fall. most reservoirs in the area are at or near capacity. water managers are releasing some of that water to make room for more. seismic safety regulations are keeping the anderson reservoir at about 76 percent. in los gatos, the lexington reservoir is 85 percent full. outside gilroy, the uvas reservoir is at 102-percent of capacity. the district has stopped requiring water retailers to impose fines and surcharges for water use. big relief could be in store for bay area drivers on a busy highway. flooding has closed highway-37 twice from highway-101 to atherton road. this video was taken back on january 24th. cal-trans says in addition to the rainfall, the flooding is happening in part because the road has sunk. pumps were brought in to drain the water. now, cal-trans is looking at a broader long term
