visa was stalled last month by president trump's immigration order. kron four's hermela aregawi was at san francisco international airport where the girl reunited with her family. it's essentiatlly because of a technicality in immigration law..eman was board abroad. only one of her parents were a u.s. citizen at the time of her birth.. and they hadn't lived in the u.s long enough for her to be immediately granted u.s. citizenshipeman ali arrives at sfo... to a warm welcome.a seven year immigration battle to get the 12 year old a u.s. visa... almost failed in the last minutes.on january 28th - eman and her father were at the u.s. embassy in djibouti where they had a scheduled interview with immigration -- the last step in the process.but they weren't allowed to board the plane there.. because of the president trump's immigration ordersot ahmed aliwe've been

waiting a long time 7 years already. after 7 years finally we're home. that's what we need. that's the most i need here is how this 12 year old got separated from her parents and two sisters.eman's parents have been in the u.s. since 2004.at the time of eman's birth.. her mother was a u.s. citizen. and father was a permanent resident.. eman was born in yemen in late 2004... where her parents were at the time beacause of a family emergency.because eman only had one parent who was a u.s. citizen at the time..and the family hadn't been in the u.s. for at least 5 years... eman wasn't considered a u.s. citizenssot katy lewisi think it was a very stressful time and i'm glad it finally came to an end today and a happy conclusionthe family's yemeni origins also made getting a visa difficultsot katy lewis there are just huge delays in these yemeni cases and so lots of people are also trying to flee what is a warn torn country and a dangerous area.// i would say this executive order has obviously affected thousands and thousands of people and there are certainly other children who are being affected in this wayhermelawhat makes this story even better.. is because eman is a minor now living with her twi u.s. citizen parents.. she's automatically granted a citizenship.
