u-s yesterday afternoon. that judge's block is now at the center of a legal fight at federal appeals court in san francisco. just a short time ago president trump's administration's filed an emergency appeal for reinstatement of the travel ban. kron 4's dan kerman join us live from the federal court house with what will happen next. dan?

head coach. the niners had to wait until the super bowl was over to make it a done deal... and shanahan is now taking over the franchise. the 37-year old is the team's fourth head coach in the last four seasons... and he's considered one of the league's top young prodigies. as the son of former 49ers assistant and 3-time super bowl champion, mike shanahan, kyle has the lineage. and he also has the credentials... he's spent the last two seasons as the falcons offensive coordinator...and this past year it was the top ranked offense in the league. however, his play calling is drawing criticism today...because we all know what happened over the weekend. the falcons blew a 25-point lead against the patriots... and there was a late red zone opportunity to tack on points and eat up time, but he elected to pass. regardless-- that's now in the past. he'll be working alongside general manager john lynch...who was hired last week. both of them are expected to be formally introduced in the coming days.

we are following some breaking news tonight... two drifters involved in a pair of killings and a robbery in marin county and san francisco in 2015 have plead guilty in court today. 19-year old lila alligood and 24-year old morrison lampley now face life in prison. a third defendant charged...sean angold... already pleaded guilty to second degree murder and testified against the other two. he is facing a 15-year sentence. one victim in the killing was 23-year -old audrey carey who was visiting san francisco from quebec... the other was 67-year-old steven carter..a yoga teacher from marin county who was killed in the loma alta open space reserve near fairfax. . in the south bay... sierra lamar's state of mind is at the center of testimony as the trial of her alleged killer continues. kron four's rob fladeboe joins us

police have arrested two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in vallejo. it happened around noon yesterday on hilborn streetnear river park. upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot... he died on the scene. 44-year-old shawn brown was arrested on suspicion of murder. and 48-year-old reginald mckinney was arrested on suspicion of accessory to murder. the victim's name... has yet to be released. the investigation is ongoing...but police say they're not actively looking for any other suspects. the c-h-p say it's apprehended a person of interest in a hit-and-run collision that killed a man in

novato. it happened thursday along southbound 101... officers say a driver hit a man who was walking near the road. a big rig driver had first spotted the victim's body in the road. authorities still don't know the identity of the man killed....they've released this sketch - in the hopes that someone will recognize him and contact them.. the man is described as in his 50's - and 5-foot-ten. anyone with information is asked to call the marin county sheriffs office. some people in the far north bay... were shaken awake by a small earthquake this morning. it was a 3- point-2 magnitude quake...centered about 13 miles east of calistoga. it hit around 6:08 this morning. tonight, no reports of damage or injuries. happening now... drivers on bay area freeways have been no match today for problems caused by the rain. that included potholes, flat tires and traffic accidents..

kron4's haaziq madyun shows use some of the rain-related problems. the rain took its toll of drivers on bay area freeways this back to work monday. here on highway 280 a major pot hole took out tires on multiple vehicles, including this jaguar"we hit the pothole, lost the front tire pretty quickly, pulled over there already about 3 cars pulled over"you can see some of the hub caps from those vehicles littered along the shoulder of the freewayif it wasn't pot holes disabling vehicles in the rain, it was the slippery roadway taking out cars. chp inestigators say this vehicle spun out and crashed into the brush over the shoulder here on eastbound highway 4 near hercules "we have seen a lot of solo vehicle spin outs which means one car is either traveling to fast for the conditions or they don't have enough tire tread"there were also a few sizeable weather related traffic accidents. this tow truck is hauling two cars involved in a multi-vehicle-

starting today, bart is increasing parking fees for five east bay stations. daily parking fees at the west oakland, coliseum, hayward, concord, and north concord stations will go up by 50 cents. bart officials say the new prices will also affect long-term and monthly reserved parking fees. the agency says...money made from parking fees is used to fund programs that improve bart stations. still ahead, police in the east bay are investigating a deadly police shooting. what led to that shooting. and next, a man is charged in the murder of a jogger in new york that happened last year. how police were able to track down the suspect. and we are following some breaking news tonight. police

the identity of a teenager who was killed by an off-duty officer in alameda... has been released. officers say 19-year-old marquez warren was shot and killed last wednesday during a home invasion robbery. it happened just before 11am on buena vista avenue. the deputy has been identified as vedder li... li has been a contra costa county deputy since 20-16...and after the shooting in his home...he was placed on administration leave. police say li was not injured during the incident - and the shooting remains under investigation. supreme court nominee judge neil gorsuch has been busy making the rounds on capitol hill...meeting with two senate

democrats who could be the key to his confirmation.the first...senator dianne feinstein, the top democrat on the senate judiciary committee and then montana senator jon tester, a democrat running for re-election in a conservative state.meanwhile...republicans are ramping up their campaign for his confirmation...with a series of new ads. senate democrats say they're taking the floor for 24-hours... an effort to stop the nomination of betsy de-vos as education secretary. so far... two republicans say they'll vote against the nomination. at least one other republican must also vote no... for the nomination to fail. the democrats are asking citizens to call republican senators to urge them to vote against de-vos. some bay area public school advocates have been vocal in their opposition of the nominee. de-vos... who's a billionare...is a strong advocate for school voucher programs. critics say she simply does not undersand public education. the

final vote is scheduled for tomorrow. bold statements made on twitter by a county official in michigan have drawn reaction from kent state university and republican party leaders. dan ada-mini, secretary of the marquette county republican party - tweeted last week "violent protesters who shut down free speech? time for another kent state perhaps. one bullet stops a lot of thuggery." the comments were made after the violent trump protests at u-c berkeley. in 1970, the ohio national guard shot and killed four kent state students during vietnam war protests. kent state officials are calling adamini's posts "abhorrent." a spokesperson for michifan's republican party says adamini was speaking for himself. coming up, incredible footage of a bright fireball that lights up the sky across several states in the midwest.

police have arrested a man after they say he beat and choked his wife to death inside their home. 27-year-old sajawal chandhar was arriagned today in the murder of 40-year-old leann watson-chadhar. her body was discovered thursday inside their home on coyne court in east san jose. officers say chadhar was "extremely uncooperative" with police and was evasive in recounting how his wife died. chadhar has no criminal history, and no history of domestic violence. this is san jose's fifth homicide of the year. big 49ers news tonight... the team has finally announced a replacement for head coach, chip kelly. we kind of knew this was coming, we just had to wait for the playoffs to end... or more specifically... the atlanta falcons' season. mark carpenter joins us to introduce us to the new head coach, kyle shanahan. mark? for the last two weeks, shananan to the 49ers has been the worst kept secret in sports... as the team
