this morning on the kron four morning news... major breaking news as nearly 200-thousand people are under evacuation orders as the emergency spillway at the oroville dam could fail at any moment. this means the nation's tallest dam could unleash uncontrolled flood waters if it fails. lake oroville had water levels so high, that the emergency spillway was used for the first time in almost 50 years on saturday. the main spillway was damaged during recent heavy rain. good morning... it is monday,

morning. nearly 200- thousand people living near the tallest dam in the u-s ordered out of the area for their own safety this morning. authorities there this morning are hoping to avert crisis at the nation's highest dam... they say the erosion is not advancing as quickly as initially thought. this is video from the dam behind me. thousands are still evacuating from the area this morning. reid binion spoke with evacuees and gives us a closer look at what people in the area are going

hole in the emergency spillway with rocks......using helicopters to drop the rocks into a crevice on top of the erosion.i'm reid binion reporting. california governer jerry brown has issued an emergency order this morning to help the response in oroville. in a statement... he said quote: "i've been in close contact with emergency personnel managing the situation in oroville throughout the weekend and it's clear the circumstances are complex and rapidly changing. i want to thank local.... "...and state law enforcement for leading evacuation efforts and doing their part to keep residents safe. the state is directing all necessary personnel and resources to deal with this very serious situation." and as of this morning... here is a look at what we know about evacuation centers. the silver dollar fairgrounds in chico is full. there are several road closures as well so drivers are encouraged to continue north on 99 or 70 from oroville. response teams also have a time crunch with

in the east bay. friends of a couple who died in berkeley are demanding answers this morning. a family member found the bodies of 89-year old dora bibbs and her boyfriend 56-year old gary white in their home saturday morning. this is the second time a couple has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in the city recently. police are now looking into whether a toxic substance or gas is behind the latest tragedy. kron four's lydia pantazes has the latest. friends of a couple who died in berkeley are demanding answers tonight.a family found the bodies of 89-year old dora bibbs and her boyfriend 56-year old gary white in their home saturday morning. kron4's lydia pantazes is live in berkeley where it happened. lydia, do police know what caused their death?this case is still under under investigation.but police are looking into whether carbonmonoxide is to blame. friends 89-year old dora bibbs and 56-year old gary white were found dead inside their home.the door sealed by investigators...caution tape still on the floor..."i've been knowing them both 50-years, she's was like the mother of the neighborhood and gary was like the mechanic of the neighborhood, they was both great people."todd walker grew up in west berkeley with both dora and gary.... he says everyone called dora "mama bibbs" growing up.he says dora had been battling cancer and gary was taking care of her. "to hear that both of them passed at the same time it stunned me, caught me off guard and to hear that it might be carbon monoxide pissed me off."the cause of death is still under investigation but police are looking into whether toxic substances or gases killed the two. last month another couple living in berkeley died in their apartment from carbon monoxide poisoning... police are still trying to determine where the carbon monoxide came from.this latest case has neighbors on edge."i didn't sleep i was worried about not walking up."alicia jones lives in the house in front of dora and gary.her husband called pg&e to come check their house on sunday.""the fire department checked it yesterday but i just didn't feel safe so my husband called them this morning and they gave us the clear."while that helped put neighbors at ease... friends like todd walker want answers."we're not going to let this get swept under the rug, we don't want this to happen to no other family." gary white has two daughters and dora has seven children. police do not believe there is any danger to homes in the area.reporting live in berkeley, lydia pantazes kron4 news.

inflateable river boats, and 2 power water craft. all personnel have special training for situations like this. several team members are also drone pilots. although they call situations like this "extremely unusual," they say having a team prepared is important. happening now. crews are warning commuters to expect major delays this morning on interstate 80 through the sierra. this as they try to repair damage from flooding. interstate 80 was closed friday into saturday after a mudslide sent rocks, trees and debris onto all lanes in placer county. traffic is down to one lane on i-80 westbound from state line to truckee. meanwhile, highway 50 is still closed this morning because of multiple active mudslides from over the weekend. the closure is from pollock pines to strawberry in el dorado county. crews are allowing people who live in the area to show their i-d so they can get through. cal-trans says the highway will be closed through 6:00 tonight. in san mateo county..

over again. at least 17 people are without a home this morning following two fires in oakland. the first fire happened around noon yesterday at 2909 35th avenue. oakland firefighters initially tweeted that people were trapped inside the house. the

second fire happened around 5:02 last night at 1520 24th avenue. it burned part of a two story home. children and adults are both displaced. no one was injured in either fire. a 70-year old woman is in the hospital this morning after being thrown 50 feet by a hit and run driver in petaluma. it happened just before 7:30 saturday night at the intersection of south mcdowell boulevard and caufield lane. police say she is now in the hospital with possible life threatening injuries. witnesses say the woman was crossing against a red signal when she was hit by a van. the driver of the van was last seen turning right onto south mcdowell boulevard. still ahead on the kron four morning news. hundreds of thousands evacauated because of spillway dangers. i'll share what cal fire is saying this morning and the latest on the evacuees. right after the break. and here's a

breaking news this morning... hundreds of thousands of people evacaute after damage to a spillway at the oroville dam. water began flowing over the emergency spillway at the dam for the first time in the structures nearly 50-year history on saturday. all weekend department of water resources remained hopeful this wouldn't happen. the situation turned extreme yesterday. people from all areas in and around oroville were forced to evacuate

immediately in case the worst case scenario happens. the concern is the auxillary spillway will give out and release an uncontrolled amount of water. 100-thousand cubic feet of water is now rushing through per second. that spillway is suffering from erosion but in a conference yesterday officials with the d-w-r and sheriffs office said it's not happening as quickly as once thought. the department of water will use helicopters to drop

are continuing to follow the the situation near the oroville dam. this is new video from the c-h-p. you can see just how much water is gushing over the spillway. lake oroville had water levels so high, that the emergency spillway was used for the first time in almost 50 years on saturday. the main spillway was damaged during recent heavy rain. a california national guard official says they will provide eight helicopters to assist with reconstruction. helicopters will also be available for search and rescue today. the california national guard also put out a notification to all 23-thousand soldiers and airmen to be ready to deploy if needed. the last time an alert like this was issued for the entire california national guard was the 1992 riots. and here is a look at the evacuation center in chico. thousands of people are there

president is responding to protest of a series of immigration raids. and he's also hinting at some action after a panel of federal judges ruled his controversial travel ban would remain halted. david daniel has more on what could be next. nats - protesters chanting chants of "undocumented, unafraid" could be heard loud and clear outside the white house.. as demonstrators gathered to protest the recent ice raids. hundreds of undocumented immigrants were arrested across the country this week.. and on sunday...president trump addressed the raids, tweeting: "the crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise." while not all of the immigrants had criminal histories, immigration and customs officials say they targeted individuals with criminal records... and that operations like these are routine, carried out several times a year.concern remains high among immigrant communities... following the president's recent executive order barring foreign nationals from seven muslim- majority countries.this, despite a federal appeals court ruling late last week that prevents the ban from being enforced.a significant setback for the trump administration but white house advisers say they are weighing all their options. stephen miller / white house adviser: "that includes you can continue the appeal on the 9th, you can seek an emergency stay at the supreme court, you can have a trial hearing on the merits at the district level or you can take it en banc for an emergency hearing also at the 9th circuit and yes you can pursue additional

prepared is important. here's a timeline of how rapidly events moved leading up to where we are right now. on tuesday of last week a massive hole began to form on the emergency spillway of the oroville dam. the hole formed during the heavy rain and it has continued to grow ever since. on saturday, officials said the water was continuing to flow over the emergency spillway and would continue for another day or so. they said there was no threat to the public at that point. then yesterday at noon, officials held a news conference saying water was still flowing over the emergency spillway but that the overflow was steadily slowing. they expected it to stop by midday monday. at around 5 last night...things took a turn for the worse. officials ordered people living near the

dam to evacuate saying a "hazardous situation is developing" after an emergency spillway severely eroded. the butte county sheriff's office said the emergency spillway could fail within an hour. at around 5:45, authorities began asking more communities to evacuate. an hour later, thousands of cars in wall-to-wall traffic could be seen on highway 99 as people streamed out of oroville and away from the dam. at 8 last night, officials said 188-thousand people had evacuated. water was still spilling over the dam. at 8:30, traffic is gridlocked for miles around lake oroville as panicked and angry residents try to evacuate. at 10:15 last night, authorities said there is no more water going over the emergency spillway. officials say the threat is still not over. at 11:30, governor brown issued an emergency order to deal with
