'....there have been limbs hanging down and i told the home owners association about it but they weren't impressed by what seemed to be a disater waiting to happen....'the power was knocked out and a utility pole looks like it might fall at any time, promptingthe police to close several streets in the area. p.g.e. rolled seveal crews to the scene. just up the street mike lavelle was inspecting what's left of his man cave after a heritage cedar tree lost it's grip and smashed into his and two other homes.sot mike lavelle/tree fell on home '...my wife was here in the hot tub and the wind came up and she got scared and the next thing you know the tree came down...it's been through a lot bigger storms than this so i thing the saturated ground had something to do with it...'elsewhere in capitola, crews were at work cutting up several 100 foot tall eucalyptus trees that were blown down along park avenue. the road littered with debris amid what seemed like another new road block and another downed tree at every turn.

as of this afternoon nearly 16 thousand people in san jose are without power. downed trees a big problem... the damage resulting in power outages for thousands of people in the south bay. right now pg&e crews say they are working to restore power to more than 27-thousand people. kron four's philippe djegal shows us what's keeping emergency crews busy.

was reportedly shooting at vehicles parked on the street and even pointed his gun at news helicopters above him. "what happened was neighbors called in about this individual armed with a rifle and that this individual was firing shots in the neighborhood, it was reported that some of the shots were fired at residents and some of the cars parked on the street" this happened at around 9am. all available officers were called to this area. the california highway patrol closed the golf links exits on interstate 580. at some point during the stand-off the gunman, who sources have identified as 32-year-old jesse enjaian, was seen using a can of spray paint on his neighbor's car and a garage...while still holding that rifle"we do know that we had one oakland police officer discharge their firearm, we do know that the suspect has an injury" jesse enjaian was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital and listed in serious condition. police did not mention a motive. however one neighbor told me that this is the 3rd incident in the past 7-days involving enjaian shooting at vehicles in the .in oakland haaziq madyun kron4news

air quality regulators are investigating why charred derbis from the oakland warehouse fire... was found dumped along the shoreline. everything from burned musical instruments, appliances, artwork and clothes was left on the path and in garbage bags on oakport street near oakland international airport. air quality officials say the material should not have been dumped in an open field which is owned by the city... the city of oakland could face fines if violations are found. 36 people were killed when a fire broke out back on decemeber second in the ghost ship warehouse. police say the warehouse was being used as an unpermitted residence and arts collective. the storm - making for a messy commute this evening. still ahead on kron four news. an accident on highway 101 snarls traffic - in redwood city. a look at what happened. then, he was forced to evacuate

district.. one of the residents says she was shocked to come home to find swastikas spray painted on her garage. she says no one should have to come home to this kind of hate. there are multiple camera's in the area... police are hoping that footage will help lead to an arrest. the decision to approve a 650-million dollar grant that would speed up the construction for a bullet train has been delayed... this is a story we first told you about on tuesday.... the grant would help caltrain put electricity on a section of track between san jose and san francisco. congressional republicans did not approve the grant and are asking that the grant be put off until an audit of track is done... the agency is delaying the decision so it can be considered as part of

president donald trump's budget. the line is already under construction and will need federal funding to complete it. this is all part of a two-billion dollar project caltrains requested to replace diesel trains with electric trains... another big story we are tracking tonight at 5. crews continue to shore up the dam in oroville - that threatened to flood nearby communities earlier in this week. the region is expected to get some relief as the bulk of rainstorms in the area have moved south. but a new storm system is predicted to drop as much as a foot of rain near the dam starting on monday. workers filled in one of the erosion sites, but another is 69 percent filled and one more is only 25 percent done. officials have flushed more than 40 feet of water from the lake since sunday, when it reached capacity and overflowed they are hoping to get as much work done as possible before torrential rains hit. "i want to continue to remind people, we're still operating under emergency situation. there is always the risk that or there is always potential that if the risk increases we could go back to the level requiring immediate

"once the storms passed us that's when we started seeing the accidents. here's a two car accident southbound 101 near marsh road. you can see a gray prius rear ended by a truck off in the distance. a young boy is being tended to by the paramedics and the driver of the pick up is also being looked at. you can blame the gusty conditions for this accident. a witness tells me that a garbage can blew on to the freeway, the prius braked that's when the pick up truck slams right into him. we saw two accidents in the span of 30 mins. the chp tells me once the rain stops drivers tend to go faster and that's when they see the accidents. in rwc will tran kron 4 news."rapid fire script when the rain was coming down hard during the morning commute we didn't see any

thousand people returned home, after the threat of flooding around lake oroville had forced them to evacuate. but a handful of people returned to find their houses had been burglarized. one of those people -- a u-s army veteran. he had more than two dozen of his medals stolen -- medals that were supposed to remain a secret until he died. as tom miller reports - the man is opening up about a difficult part of his life in an attempt to get

take a look at this... this might require a double- take...but it is áánotáá a real person.. this was one mans way of trying to cheat in the carpool lane.. washington state patrol says the driver was speeding in the carpool lane when he was pulled over.. it wasn't until the trooper looked inside the car that he realized this passenger... was a mannequin. cheating in the carpool lane is nothing new....officers say they've seen a range of things from a huge teddy-bear... to a child-sized zombie doll. police note both the driver and mannequin were wearing seatbelts, but he was still cited for speeding and a carpool violation. coming up, twins - but different skin tones. the sisters open up about what it's like to be viewed as a different race.

and erica are fraternal twins... but their differences were clear before they were even born.erin- we didnt get along in my moms stomach we would fight all the time when we were born my sister kicked me out and so i came out with a black eyethey may have entered the world together... but their life experiences couldn't be further apart. erin- i was automatically accepted because my skin was light and she wasn't because she was dark and that kind of made problems for me and her because we'd end up fighting. the atkinson twins tell me they never realized they were different... it was other people who pointed it out to them.erica- i dont know if i really understood or not.erin- one time we went to our friends house... and her dad came home and told her my sister had to leave but i could stay because of my color. it wasn't just erica that had to deal with being a biracial twin.erin, growing up albino, had its challenges too. erin- sometimes black people feel like if you're not brown you're not black and so they're going to treat you just as bad as they would

the other big story tonight... this bizarre scene in oakland. a gunman... walking around the neighborhood... randomly pointing a rifle. at one point... he even took aim at a news helicopter. the whole thing ended with police shooting the suspect. the video we showed you from our helicopter partners at a-b-c 7 .. is just part of the story. the suspect wandered to a neighboring home. he sprayed some graffiti... which we cannot show you on television. this all happened right off interstate 580 near golf links road in east oakland. the exact street we are told is las vegas avenue. police have been at the scene all day... this started early this morning. that is is where kron's haaziq madyun is tonight. he has some information on who the suspect is and his condition after being shot by police.

violations are found. 36 people died in the fire back on decemeber second in the ghost ship warehouse. police say the warehouse was being used as an unpermitted residence and arts collective. the cause has not been determined. graffitti found on a woman's garage in san francisco.. is being investigated as a hate crime.. it happened late thursday night on jefferson street in the marina district.. one of the residents says, she was shocked to come home to find swastikas spray painted on her garage. she says no one should have to come home to this kind of hate. police are now checking all camera's in the area.. they hope that video will help lead to an arrest.

the space program's historical roots... for it's florida launch this weekend... the private space firm is scheduled to launch an unmanned spacecraft....called the dragon... it'll be sent to the international space station... tomorrow morning at 7:01 our time... the dragon is packed with more than five-thousand pounds of cargo and experiments. nasa says it will take two days for the dragon to catch up to the space station. after the crew unloads the dragon.... it will be packed with trash and other items nd sent back to earth on march 21st in baja california.
