and our team coverage of the storm continues this morning now with averi harper. she's live san jose this morning covering the rain. how's it looking out there averi? downed trees also a big problem in san jose and the damage is cutting power to thousands of people. neighbors on east empire street, near 12-th street say this palm tree snapped and landed on a home. no one was injured. but the damage did not stop there. and near downtown san jose, p-g-and-e crews are busy working on damaged power lines. several traffic lights out because of the power outage as well.

the wet season isn't quite over yet for california...on friday, a storm slammed the state, stretching from san diego all the way to the northern border and into oregon.trees toppled.....roads were flooded out and some neighborhoods prepared for the possibility of mudslides. more than twenty-one million people are under a flash-flood watch or warning this weekend. santa barbara, ventura and l.a. counties could see up to six inches of rainfall in just six hours friday night before northern californians get soaked later in the weekend. while rain is a welcome sight for a state that is finally recovering from being under drought warnings for years, there is one place not looking forward to this storm... oroville.residents there were evacuated last weekend and recently allowed to come back after authorities found structural damage in the dam's spillways. with up to 12 inches of rain expected to fall over the next week, residents are told to stay alert. kory honea, butte county sheriff: "i want to continue to remind people, we're still operating under

say enjaian also spraypainted obscene graffiti on neighbor's homes and cars. at one point, he even pointed his gun at a news helicopter. neighbors say this isn't the first time en-jay-an has done something like come here friday night and get him. then its tuesday and you still don't get him. something seriously wrong with that. you wait until he shoots a police car then you come up here. we are learning more information on the gunman, jessie en-jay-an. he was 32 year old, who lived in oakland. he was a computer science engineer. en-jay-an attended u-c l-a, where he was part of the university's army r-o-t-c program. there he had basic paratrooper training and air assault training. which prepares soldiers for missions. he also attended the university of michigan law school and was currently pursuing a masters degree at the georgia institute of technology. coming up... nearly

fever or chills, headache and muscle soreness. there is new evidencethat playing soccer can cause brain damage. a new study found more than 250 former professional soccer players have suffered from a form of a nero-degenerative disease known as "c-t-e". "c-t-e" has been commonly associated with football players. the study looked at more than a dozen soccer players who died from dementia at an early age. they found that their brain autopsies also showed signs of "c-t-e". the link between the two diseases is unclear. but doctors are warning against hitting the ball with their heads during games. the american youth soccer organization has eliminated heading all together for players under the age of 10. i have a full forecast straight ahead.

president's day weekend is getting off to a wet and rainy start, forcing several flight delays and cancellations here in the bay area. more than 170 flights were either cancelled or delayed at s-f-o friday afternoon. wet weather both in the bay area and southern california, along with storms back east are the cause for all the delays. by last night, flights at s-f-o were running an average of at least 60 minutes behind schedule. it made for a hectic travel day.

in the east bay. an inmate is in custody this morning after he was on the run for more than two weeks. 27-year old sean new escaped from kentucky deputies last month. he was being transported from santa rita jail in dublin back to kentucky where he faced fraud charges.. new escaped from the deputies car while in stop- and-go traffic on 880 in hayward.. officers in fremont yesterday arrested new after they spotted him entering a house on heather terrace. a k-9 assisted in the arrest after new did not listen to police commands.. he is now being held in county jail. coming up.. the n-b-a all star weekend is here.

breaking news into the kron four news room. a 25-year-old man is dead this morning following a single car crash on interstate highway 80. it happened in solano county near dixon , just before two-am. according to c-h-p. they then found a black b-m-w crashed into a tree when they arrived. the driver died at the scene. the c-h-p says alcohol likely played a factor in the crash. the oroville dam spillway emergency is prompting new calls for inspections. a california lawmaker wants to require physical spillway inspections. it's an effort to prevent the problems which have been happening at oroville this winter.. north bay assemblyman marc

levine called visual inspections "not good enough". meanwhile officials are reducing the amount of water released from the dam despite looming storms. they say there is now plenty of room in the dam to absorb storm runoff. but officials say it is all far from over. as a precaution, many nearby schools remain closed and most of the region is under an evacuation warning. happening now. the largest reservoir in santa clara county is almost full. with the rain this weekend, officials think the anderson reservoir near morgan hill could reach the dams spillway. the reservoir can hold more than 89 thousand acre-

feet of water and is 99- percent full. officials say just because the water reaches the spillway does not mean there is an emergency situation. they say the spillway is there for this purpose and should not be compared to the situation in oroville. in the east bay. palomares road near niles canyon remains closed in fremont, but is expected to open sometime today. crews say a 700-pound boulder could come crashing down at any moment. this is a popular road for commuters traveling from alameda county to contra costa county. several rocks have already fallen and damaged the road. and take a look at these pictures from the fremont police department. this is along mowry near argonaut and logan. underneath that fallen tree somewhere, is a silver acura. no one was hurt, but that car likely totalled. make sure you have the kron-4 app to track the storm. we'll keep you updated about severe weather or traffic problems in your area

a new study on the san jose police department traffic and pedestrain stops.. the report by the university of texas at el paso says people of colors are more likely to be stopped by officers.. a former police officer led the study and says despite the disperities, there are no apparent cultural issues in the department here are a few of the findings: researchers found african-americans and hispanics were about twice as likely as whites to be searched during a vehicle stop. and more than twice as likely to receive a criminal citation. white

president's day weekend is getting off to a wet and rainy start, forcing several flight delays and cancellations here in the bay area. more than 170 flights were either cancelled or delayed at s-f-o friday afternoon. wet weather both in the bay area and southern california, along with storms back east are the cause for all the delays. by last night, flights at s-f-o were running an average of at least 60 minutes behind schedule. it made for a hectic travel day. tomorrow. with more rain in the forecast, cancellations and delays are possible for the rest of the weekend. so be sure to call ahead.

north bay assemblyman marc levine called visual inspections "not good enough". meanwhile officials are reducing the amount of water released from the dam despite looming storms. they say there is now plenty of room in the dam to absorb storm runoff. but officials say it is all far from over. evacuation .. as a precaution, many nearby schools remain closed and most of the region is under an evacuation warning. happening now. the largest reservoir in santa clara county is almost full. with the rain this weekend, officials think the anderson reservoir near morgan hill could reach the dams spillway. the reservoir can hold more than 89 thousand acre- feet of water and is 99-

a new study on the san jose police department traffic and pedestrain stops.. the report by the university of texas at el paso says people of colors are more likely to be stopped by officers.. a former police officer led the study and says despite the disperities, there are no apparent cultural issues in the department here are a few of the findings: researchers found african-americans and hispanics were about twice as likely as whites to be

horn take a look at this... yes that's a dog honking a horn at it's owner to come back. tim and yvonne blankenship stopped at a subway in ohio for some lunch when they saw this impatient little dog. so the dog...named diamond... started barking and honking for the owner to hurry up. and as you can see, he was getting pretty upset. people who live in the area commented on facebook saying that diamond has been seen around town on other occasions honking the horn at its owner. no word on how he learned that trick? adlib seven day.
