palomares canyon near niles canyon road in fremont is still shut down this morning. officials are worried about the danger of falling boulders. kron four's lydia pantazes shows us how crews in the area are getting ready for this storm. "we've had enough, i think we've had our share."robert townsend and red rowton live on palomares road near niles canyon.over the past few weeks they've seen their fair share of falling rocks and mudslides. "oh yeah absolutely every time it rains just about."now.... concrete barriers block a lane on palomares road.... near niles canyon.directly above that barricade an 8-hundred pound boulder hanging from tree limbs.several other boulders are trapped behind the tree....this next round of rain could trigger those boulders to fall...there are already large dents on the asphalt below where other rocks fell in the past few weeks..but the damage it can do to a driver could be deadly...."a car? it'll go right through it, it would do a lot of damage to a car, it'll go right through it." townsend and rowton say the recent rains have not only triggered falling rocks and boulders but mudslides as well..."after we've had storm after storm when the ground gets saturated that's when it really starts to happen, it's when you see the slides and things like that so it's usually not the first few rains once the ground gets saturated it can't hold the water and its starts coming down."they expect more to comedown during this next round of rain as well..."it's going to come down eventually,

yeah, for sure."the area has gotten so dangerous crews in the area told us we needed to leave."you guys gotta go, you guys can't be here." while it may be dangerous...people who live here say the beauty of this canyon outweighs the risk. "that's just what happens when you live in the canyon, that's right." in the south bay... water is flowing over the spillway of anderson reservoir for first time in more than a decade. the santa clara valley water district opened the spillway. water is rushing down the hill, creating a waterfall. it's a spectacular sight for families living in the area and out of towners. this is the first time since 2006

that this spillway has been used. no worries." the santa clara county water district is trying to get water levels down to 68- percent as soon as possible. the water district hopes that by releasing water from the spillway and an outlet down the hill. that water flowing over the dam will be avoided, especially since more rain is expected. at this point, neighbors don't fear nearby coyote creek will flood. five oroville dam workers have been fired apparently for posting pictures of the problem areas of the oroville dam. and that seems to have violated a contract agreement. the contractor working on the project has a strict " no social media, no photos policy". some employees did not honor that contract, according to the department of water resources. some have taken to social media saying they believe the workers are being wrongfully censored.

southern california continues to deal with dangerous storm conditions. it's led to flooding and major sinkholes. in the last 48 hours, at least five deaths have been blamed on weather there. kron four's j-r stone gives us a closer look at what they are down south. this is what it looked like on one street in san bernardino county friday night as emergency crews went into action to try and save two motorists. one person safety rescued, the other tragically killed after being fully submerged by water in this car. one of at least 5 related weather deaths in southern california. nighttime problems on friday went well into the late night hours.natshelp helpthose are screams coming from a woman stuck in a sinkhole in studio city after her car fell right into that hole as she was driving. sot i tried to tell her to stopshe didn't stop minutes later emergency crews arrived and helped her to safety. in fact the woman's rescue was all caught on camera.sot after that woman's rescue this minivan splipped into the sinkhole.crashing on top of the car already down there.

the powerful storms are being blamed for the death of a 55 year-old man in southern california. he was walking down the street when a tree toppled over, according to los angeles police. the tree brought down powerlines, landing on cars and knocking out power in the area. firefighters arrived on the scene and cut the lines. the man was taken to the hospital in serious condition and later died. some neighbors say they were not surprised the tree fell.

l-a-p-d says the man either came in contact with the electrified lines or charged water. officials do not know where the man was in relation to the powerlines or cars, but he suffered electrical shock. the wind and rain has also knocked down a number of trees in california's central valley. take a look . in stockton, this tree collapsed onto a house. and the hood of a car was smashed by this tree in manteca. in modesto, firefighters had to cut the gas lines to a house after a fallen tree started a fire. a 30-year-old pine tree in sacramento split and fell on an elementary school. no children were at the school, but an air conditioning unit was damaged. at another elementary school nearby, a tree came down on a teacher's car. and with this new storm,

p-g-and-e is offering some advice on how to prepare and stay safe. they say keep flashlights, radios and batteries nearby. have fresh drinking water and freeze plastic containers filled with water, this will help prevent food from spoiling. secure your outdoor furniture or lightweight items that can be blown away by high winds. for more information, visit kron four dot com. other big news we are following... platform bridge road in marin county is reopened this morning. this following the discovery of human remains at point reys national park. kron four's jeff pierce has the latest on the investigation. a search was conducted saturday morning for any evidence that might help unravel the circumstances of a gruesome discovery at point reyes national park on friday evening.motorists came by on platform bridge road and have discovered some human remains. those remains were in such a state of decomposition that indentifaction or even gender

were not possible.it's too hard to determine at this point in time whether it's a full set of human remains or just portions thereof. we can't tell.the marin county sheriff's department enlisted these searchers in an effort to answer some the questions surrounding those remains. these are volunteers and paid staff from the marin county search and rescue and so they're going to do a sweep through this general area along the creek to see if there is any other possibility of any other evidence that might be out there.the fbi was called in to participate in the investigation.the fbi are here because the remains were found on national park service land.it will be up to the fbi to answer the questions of who this person was and how their remains ended up on platform bridge road.it's going to take some heavy duty forensics to figure that out.in marin county jeff pierce kron four news.

government officials say president trump is working on a "streamlined" version of his travel ban executive order. u.s homeland security secretary john kelly says the president plans to replace the previous order with a new one. president trump say's he wants to quote " comprehensivel y protect our country." also, speaking to a crowd in flordia, the president says

he's had a successful month in office, regardless of what the media says. the white house is running so smoothly, so smoothly.and believe me, i and we inherited one big mess. that i can tell you. president trump did not reveal any specifics of the new travel ban order . but says the new order is being tailored to satisfy the ruling from the appeals court. another big story we are following this morning... president trump returned to the campaign trail in a place he called "the southern white house". the president held a rally to discuss the progress he says he's made in his 1st month as president. reid binion has the details. natspresident trump returned to a familiar territory on saturday.. hitting the campaign trail in melbourne, florida less than a month after taking the oath of office.pres. donald trump: "i'm here because i want to be among my friends and among the

people" butt sot "it now been one month since my inauguration and i'm here to tell you about our incredible progress in making america great again."in true trump fashion, the president took to twitter about the rally, stating there will be "a lot to talk about."while it is unclear what exactly trump's campaigning for, white house officials say the event is a way for trump to side step the media and speak directly to the people.. the same way he did in south carolina on friday. pres. donald trump: "america is going to start winning again like never before." butt sot pres. donald trump: "as your president i'm going to do everything i can to unleash the power of the american spirit and put our great people back to work." saturday's event could be a way for trump to reset his administration and reconnect with supporters after a chaotic month... from courts halting his controversial travel ban to his national security adviser resigning. the latest gallup poll shows trump's job approval rating... since taking office... is at 40-percent.that's more than 20- percent below the average for prior elected presidents in

modern history in the same time period. i'm reid binion reporting. happening today... president trump plans to interview at least four potential candidates to be his national security adviser. a white house spokesman says current acting adviser, retired leutenant geneneral keith kellogg will be one of those people interviewed. president trump will also meet with former u-s ambassador to the united nations-- john bolton. the president is also set to speak with two other military leaders as new this morning... secretary of education betsy devos is now receiving protection from the u-s marshals service. the move comes after an encounter with protesters at a washington d-c school. demonstrators prevented her from entering jefferson middle school earlier this month. it is not clear whether the protection is a direct response to that incident. it's unusual for the marshals service to protect a cabinet member. they typically receive security protection through their individual

agencies. the last cabinet member guarded by marshals was the director of the office of national drug control policy. and that position stopped being a cabinet level position in 2009. stanford university won't become a sanctuary campus. members of the student group "stanford sanctuary now" met with university officals for nearly two hours thursday. but officials decided not to adopt the controversial label. the stanford president says the term "sanctuary" is not well defined. and that it could be detrmental to stanford students and employees to use such a label. while some student's are upset with the decision, others are relieved. they say the fear of retaliation is real under president trump's administration. still ahead.. the "pokemon go" craze returns... and now some cities are making the developers pay. we'll explain after the break. and here is a live look at strom tracker four.

now need a permit to use milwaukee county parks. an ordinance signed earlier this month requires game developers to get a permit and pay a fee to use county parks. the ordinance comes after the games popularity last summer left officials struggling with large crowds and the trash they left behind. the fee to use the parks will help with maintenance. one game developer director says this type of regulation can stifle the growth of emerging technology. lawmakers in illinois are considering requiring companies to remove sites from games when they receive a request to do so. amazon is bringing back bookstores. and one of them is going to be in the bay area. the online retail giant plans to open up in walnut creek. amazon also plans to open bookstores in chicago, boston, new jersey and new york. currently there are three amazon stores on the west coast. the company has not said when the

in the south bay... water is flowing over the spillway of anderson reservoir for first time in more than a decade. the santa clara valley water district opened the spillway. water is rushing down the hill, creating a waterfall. it's a spectacular sight for families living in the area and out of towners. this is the first time since 2006 that this spillway has been used. no worries." the santa clara county water district is trying to get water levels down to 68- percent as soon as possible. the water district hopes that by releasing water from the spillway and an outlet down the hill. that water flowing over the dam will be avoided, especially since more rain is expected. at this point, neighbors don't fear

nearby coyote creek will flood. five oroville dam workers have been fired apparently for posting pictures of the problem areas of the oroville dam. and that seems to have violated a contract agreement. the contractor working on the project has a strict " no social media, no photos policy". some employees did not honor that contract, according to the department of water resources. some have taken to social media saying they believe the workers are being wrongfully censored. southern california continues to deal with dangerous storm conditions. it's led to flooding and major sinkholes. in the last 48 hours, at least five deaths have been blamed on weather there. kron four's j-r stone gives us a closer look at what they are dealing with down south. this is what it looked like on one street in san bernardino county friday night as emergency crews went into action to try and save two motorists. one person safety rescued, the other tragically killed after being fully submerged by water in this car. one of at least 5

the powerful storms are being blamed for the death of a 55 year-old man in southern california. he was walking down the street when a tree toppled over, according to los angeles police. the tree brought down powerlines, landing on cars and knocking out power in the area. firefighters arrived on the scene and cut the lines. the man was taken to the

hospital in serious condition and later died. some neighbors say they were not surprised the tree fell. sidewalk. l-a-p-d says the man either came in contact with the electrified lines or charged water. officials do not know where the man was in relation to the powerlines or cars, but he suffered electrical shock. the wind and rain has also knocked down a number of trees in california's central valley. take a look . in stockton, this tree collapsed onto a house. and the hood of a car was smashed by this tree in manteca. in modesto, firefighters had to cut the gas lines to a house after a fallen tree started a fire. a 30-year-old pine tree in sacramento split and fell on an elementary school. no children were at the school, but an air conditioning unit was damaged. at another

elementary school nearby, a tree came down on a teacher's car. and with this new storm, p-g-and-e is offering some advice on how to prepare and they say keep flashlights, radios and batteries nearby. have fresh drinking water and freeze plastic containers filled with water, this will help prevent food from spoiling. secure your outdoor furniture or lightweight items that can be blown away by high winds. for more information, visit kron four dot com. other big news we are following... platform bridge road in marin county is reopened this morning. this following the discovery of human remains at point reys national park. kron four's jeff pierce has the latest on the investigation. a search was conducted saturday morning for any evidence that might help unravel the circumstances of a gruesome discovery at point reyes national park on friday evening.motorists came by on platform bridge road and have

discovered some human remains. those remains were in such a state of decomposition that indentifaction or even gender were not possible.it's too hard to determine at this point in time whether it's a full set of human remains or just portions thereof. we can't tell.the marin county sheriff's department enlisted these searchers in an effort to answer some the questions surrounding those remains. these are volunteers and paid staff from the marin county search and rescue and so they're going to do a sweep through this general area along the creek to see if there is any other possibility of any other evidence that might be out there.the fbi was called in to participate in the investigation.the fbi are here because the remains were found on national park service land.it will be up to the fbi to answer the questions of who this person was and how their remains ended up on platform bridge road.it's going to take some heavy duty forensics to figure that out.in marin county jeff pierce kron four news.

blown away by high winds. for more information, visit kron four dot com. other big news we are following... platform bridge road in marin county is reopened this morning. this following the discovery of human remains at point reys national park. kron four's jeff pierce has the latest on the investigation. a search was conducted saturday morning for any evidence that might help unravel the circumstances of a gruesome discovery at point reyes national park on friday evening.motorists came by on platform bridge road and have discovered some human remains. those remains were in such a state of decomposition that indentifaction or even gender were not possible.it's too hard to determine at this point in time whether it's a full set of human remains or just portions thereof. we can't tell.the marin county sheriff's department enlisted these searchers in an effort to answer some the questions

surrounding those remains. these are volunteers and paid staff from the marin county search and rescue and so they're going to do a sweep through this general area along the creek to see if there is any other possibility of any other evidence that might be out there.the fbi was called in to participate in the investigation.the fbi are here because the remains were found on national park service land.it will be up to the fbi to answer the questions of who this person was and how their remains ended up on platform bridge road.it's going to take some heavy duty forensics to figure that out.in marin county jeff pierce kron four news. still ahead on kron four news weekend. klay thompson looks to defend his three point title at all star weekend. we'll show you if he was able to bring to the championship back to the bay area, next. live look outside... richmond bridge

a state commission says racism played a role in the water crisis in flint, michigan. a report by the civil rights commission was released friday. it doesn't find that any civil rights laws were broken. but it says that systematic racism and implicit bias helped create problems with drinking

government officials say president trump is working on a "streamlined" version of his travel ban executive order. u.s homeland security

travel ban to his national security adviser resigning. the latest gallup poll shows trump's job approval rating... since taking office... is at 40-percent.that's more than 20- percent below the average for prior elected presidents in modern history in the same time period. i'm reid binion reporting. happening today... president trump plans to interview at least four potential candidates to be his national security adviser. a white house spokesman says current acting adviser, retired leutenant geneneral keith kellogg will be one of those people interviewed. president trump will also meet with former u-s ambassador to the united nations-- john bolton. the president is also set to speak with two other military leaders as new this morning... secretary of education betsy devos is now receiving protection from the u-s marshals service. the move comes after an encounter with protesters at a washington d-c school. demonstrators prevented her from entering

jefferson middle school earlier this month. it is not clear whether the protection is a direct response to that incident. it's unusual for the marshals service to protect a cabinet member. they typically receive security protection through their individual agencies. the last cabinet member guarded by marshals was the director of the office of national drug control policy. and that position stopped being a cabinet level position in 2009. stanford university won't become a sanctuary campus. members of the student group "stanford sanctuary now" met with university officals for nearly two hours thursday. but officials decided not to adopt the controversial label. the stanford president says the term "sanctuary" is not well defined. and that it could be detrmental to stanford students and employees to use such a label. while some student's are upset with the decision, others are relieved. they say the fear of retaliation is real under president trump's administration. still ahead..
