liccardo extended the mandatory evacuation order for nearly everyone living east of coyote creek. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. the water is still on the rise in some parts. kron four's j-r stone reports from one of the hardest hit areas. senter road in san jose looks like a river right now but instead of boats there are only abandoned cars. the water has forced out those like lorainewho woke up to her neighbor pounding on the door.sot the water just started coming all over and it got higher and higher and i got scared and i left.in fact more than 200 left this rockspring neighborhood of san jose. many though weren't able to walk out on their own. they had to be rescued by boat and had to leave quickly. sot i didn't grab nothingsot this is our first time leaving in 15 yearsand just like that the water was here right? mmmmmm hmmmmmmfor those who were in this water, emergency crews worked to rinse them down. fearful of the sewage, gas, or oil that may have mixed into the flood area. loraine says she lives on the

first floor of this building. she's okay but worried that she may lose her personal belongings.sot the water is already going into the apartment. i'm going to lose everything. my furniture means the world to me yes i mean i pay a lot of money i work for my things and now i don't know what is going to happen. mandatory evacuations are in effect for the south bay mobile home park which is along coyote creek. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. you can see the flooded streets the c-h-p went door to door ... telling people who live there they needed to get out.

with all this flooding comes serious health risks. this morning, the santa clara county health department is warning people about the dangers of coming into contact with floodwaters. that water may contain hazardous materials like raw sewage, household chemicals and animal waste. the health department is urging people to thoroughly wash any part of your body that has come in contact with the water. also, avoid eating any food that has touched the water... and do not let your children play with any toys that have been submerged in the water. happening now. new evacuation centers are open in san jose for those people who had to leave their flooded homes. kron four's spencer blake shows us how the evacuees and the now the mayor is responding. as evacuees got off city buses that shuttled them to this overnight shelter, you could see very somber looks on some

of their faces - rather than wondering áif their neighborhood would flood, they already knew it had."i had to walk to the neighbors in the water and then we got rescued by the boat."the gym at james lick high school - which is on a week long break from classes - holds just over two hundred cots.later tuesday evening the red cross also openend a second overnight shelter at evergreen valley high school. "some of the people left with their clothes were wet, so we were able to bring in the salvation army to help with that."some arrived barefoot. volunteers have helped distribute racks of clothing and stacks of towels.angelina lopez says water started coming into her house within 30 minutes of her dropping her son off at school tuesday morning."i had my son in school and i went to go get him back out because i felt like maybe the school was getting flooded too, so i was really uncomfortable, so that's when i was like, 'i'm gonna go get him out.' and that's when the water was like to my waist."san jose mayor sam liccardo stopped by the shelter to see how evacuees were doing."i just appreciate all the volunteers who have come out to help us fill sandbags or help out at the shelters. it's really been a great outpouring of support." many of the evacuees don't speak english, and humanitarian organization tzu chi helped translate.one of lick high's coaches stopped by to help the evacuees, because he was one back in the flood of 1983.."i mean i know the feeling of having to be here as they are." right now there's no telling how long eavacuees will need to stay here, but the red cross will look into other locations for a shelterif people can't return home before school starts again monday. monday.

and part of the reason for all of this flooding in san jose is because the anderson reservoir in morgan hill is now at 103- percent capacity. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. it's usually kept at, around 68-percent for seismic saefty reasons. it's now spilling over it's spillway, screaming down into coyote creek. that creek clows into the bay north of san jose. but before it gets to the bay, it's flooding low lying neighborhoods in its path. that's about 22 miles north of morgan hill.

happening now. the water level behind the oroville dam is rising for the first time since authorities ordered an emergency evacuation more than a week ago. officials say the lake still has plenty of room to take in heavy recent rainfall. the water level at lake oroville is expected to peak 45 feet below capacity later this morning. crews are expected to be done fixing the eroded emergency spillway in roughly 2 weeks. officials are considering all options for a long-term fix. make sure you have the kron four moble app to track the storm. we'll keep you updated about severe weather or traffic problems in your area with breaking news push alerts. it's available and free for both apple and android devices.

been snowing hard. a winter storm warning has also been in effect. there has been several road closures and people deadling with a tough commute. some drivers however, have a little more experience in these conditions than others. "i'm from utah so highway 50 was also shut down near south lake tahoe last night... this because the c-h-p was concerned about an avalanche in myers. traffic is now moving, with chain controls in effect.

a fairfield woman who died when she was swept out to the sea near bodega bay has been identified as 19-year-old victoria alvarez. a state parks ranger and rescue swimmers were unable to reach the teen monday. they said she was swept into the water by a rogue wave. alvarez was walking with three other friends, along the shore near schoolhouse beach ... when it happened. this helicopter used a long line to hoist her out of the water and take her to a hospital... where she later died. in marin county... sir francis drake boulevard between fairfax and woodacre is now open. the c-h-p tweeted out the reopening around 6:00 last night. a mudslide shut down the road in both directions early yesterday morning. marin county public works was on the scene all day, working to clear it out.

emergency officials are urging people near sacramento to evacuate because of rising flood waters. voluntary evacuations are in place for people near dry creek in rio linda. many people have been lining their homes with sandbags to keep out the water. people across the sacramento and san joaquin valleys are dealing with rising waterway-levels this week. authorities are telling people living along the tuolumne river to take necessary precautions to protect their land and animals. about 500 people in manteca were forced to evacuate their homes monday night after a levee was breached along the san joaquin river. in the east bay. a 20-year-old man is in jail this morning... after police believe he went to a private school in berkeley and stabbed a staff member. authorities say angel juarez was arrested after witnesses positively identified him as

the stabbing suspect. officers say at about 2:00 yesterday afternoon... juarez came to the private school called via center on sixth street in berkeley. that's when they say he stabbed a staff member and then took off down university avenue. the extent of that person's injuries is unknown. police found juarez running over the interstate-880 overpass and arrested him. happening now. the homeland security department lays out the trump administration's plans for aggressive enforcement of immigration laws. pamela brown takes a closer look at what it could all mean for undocumented immigrants. tonight -- the department of homeland security releasing ánewá guidelines that could massively expand the number of people detained or deported from the u-s.recently ice arrested more than 680 people in raids - in just one week and said most of them were criminals.sean spicer/ white house press secretary: "everybody who is here illegally is subject to removal at any time. the priority that the president's laid forth and the priority

family have been watching the water level rise for the past few days.sotit was flooding yesterday in our back yard, maybe a foot. this is about 15 foot higher than it was this morning.their back yard and basement are now flooded. tuesday the family spent the afternoon stacking sandbags to try to keep the problem from getting any worse.sot it's actually helping, i wish we had the sandbags a little earlier.a half mile to the south, flood waters complete covered this section of 16th street near the williams street bridge. nats lives on this block. his house is now completely surrounded by water. sotyeah, we have a big remodel in the back yard and that's all under water right now. we also have three feet of water in the basementfor the time being, he and his family are going to stay with friends across the street. he's hoping the water recedes soon. sotit's really suprising. we weren't expecting that at all. we have flood insurance. i didn't want to pay for it, but i have to because i have a mortgage. so i'm really glad i have it now. i have it now.

that was kron four's charles clifford reporing. the san jose fire department spent the day passing out emergency information to homes. they do not expect the flood waters to recede until at least later today. a water rescue team from menlo park is heading to santa clara county today to help with rescue efforts near coyote creek. with the recent rainfall and water rushing from the anderson reservoir, there is now heavy flooding in santa clara county. all team members are specially trained in swift water rescue, boat operations and will be working with and from helicopters during the flooding. the same 14-- member team helped with rescue efforts near the orovlle dam more than a week ago.

a peaceful afternoon for one family ends with a giant redwood tree falling on top of their house. this happened in vacaville. kron four's philippe djegal reports from peach tree avenue... where the family says the end to this story could have been a lot worse. sot- "this is what we call co- dominant trunks. it was two main stems that came out of the same attachment point on the trunk and half of it ripped off and split -- fell across the house." and, as a result... the backyard is a mess. the roof and porch seriously damaged... with water seaping in and causing another layer of problems...sot- "roofers are coming out today to put, uh, uh, to put a tarp on it to try to prevent any more water damage."bridge rhett richardson, owner of solano shade tree preservation, tasked with cleaning all of this up... says that if he, a certified arborist, had been called our prior to the

tree falling... he would have been able to identify that the tree was a danger. sot- "i don't think the wind was a huge factor in this one -- the wind wasn't blowing. it may have been structurally weakened by a previous wind storm." billiy mitchell lives in this house with his parents on peach tree avenue in vacaville. all three of them were home late sunday afternoon, when the tree collapsed.sot- "sort of one of those things we were expecting for a while." mitchell says the tree is about 60 years old... and partially broke off years ago. he says his family knew the tree's time was running out... but not that it was perilously eminent.sot- "it just kept growing and we didn't have the money to take it down, so this is kind of the only way it could happen, was for it to fall down." thankfully, not on top of anyone. but mitchell estimates the damage caused at around 100-thousand dollars. in vacaville, philippe djegal, kron four news. still ahead. tons of san jose neighborhoods forced to evacuate... now hundreds are without their home this morning. i'll

one of the evacuation centers is located at james lick high school... and the other at evergreen valley high school in san jose. kron four was there as people got off the buses that took them to the shelters. many of them showed up in wet clothes, so volunteers were there giving out dry clothes and towels. one woman we spoke to says the water in her apartment was up to her waist. waist." san jose mayor sam liccardo spent time with evacuees at the centers last night. right now, it's not clear when people will be able to return home. to see a list of the evacuation centers in san jose... they are on our website at kron-four-dot-com.

and more evacuations could be ordered at any moment so we have some tips on how to prepare incase you get the call to evacuate. there are five things that city officials are urging you to do now and they are calling it the five p's... they include people... prescriptions... paper... personal needs... and priceless items. number one... know where all of your loved ones are and how to contact them. number 2... start packing a bag now. and in that bag should be your prescriptions as well as important documents like your birth certificate and any insurance information. also in that bag you should include any immediate personal items that you may need like a change of clothing and toiletries. and finally any priceless items that you can grab easily like pictures or family heirloom. and if you have time move important items that you want

take a look at this video from our helicopter partnership with abc7 news... you can see two horses in a flooded field. cal trans says highway 101 at cochrane in morgan hill is now open this morning after flooding shut down the highway. here is video of the flooding. more than 2 dozen trucks filled with soil and aggregate worked around the clock on the road to stop the flooding. upwards of 4 feet of water seeped onto the freeway, causing it to shut down. cars were rerouted all day and night as well. and niles canyon road is still closed this morning because of storm damage. flooding and mudslides caused by all of the recent rain has kept part of the road closed since last thursday. fremont police tweeted out these pictures of cal-trans crews working to assess the damage and clean up the area yesterday. crews still don't know when they will be able to reopen the

novato police have now released the sketch of a person accused of assaulting a woman in novato creek last week. it happened on february 12 when two hispanic men befriended a 30-year-old woman. the sketch is from surveillance video taken at the lucky's super-market. the suspect is described as a man in his forties, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a dark complexion. he was last seen wearing a carolina panthers super bowl sweatshirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. he spoke spanish with a central american in the east bay. a 20-year-old man is in jail

this morning... after police believe he went to a private school in berkeley and stabbed a staff member. authorities say angel juarez was arrested after witnesses positively identified him as the attacker. officers say at about 2:00 yesterday afternoon... juarez came to the via center private school on sixth street in berkeley. that's when they say he stabbed a staff member and then took off down university avenue. police found juarez running over the interstate-880 overpass and arrested him. the condition of the victim is not known this morning. floodin gin san jose. i will have the latest in a live report.

in a hotel until the roof is repaired. power is restored at dominican university in san rafael and the school is back open. it was closed yesterday after multiple trees came crashing down. take a look at these pictures. the damage caused a downed power line, knocking out power on campus. three cars were damaged, but the buildings were not hit. the recreation center did have power and was open to students for showers. no one was injured. a 13-year-old girl in irvine is still in a coma this morning... afterbeing hit by a tree during the storms over the weekend... it happened at a condo complex....as teresa johnston was walking to the home of an elderly neighbor - to walk the dogs. she never made it. wind gusts knocked down a 50-foot tree which fell on her. a neighbor spotted her and called an ambulance. teresa had brain surgery monday and now - her parents say they can only pray for her recovery.

and many people who were forced from their homes are waking up at evacuation centers this morning. james fletcher is back with that side of the story. james. one of the evacuation centers is located at james lick high school... and the other at evergreen valley high school in san jose. kron four was there as people got off the buses that took them to the shelters. many of them showed up in wet clothes, so volunteers were there giving out dry clothes and towels. one woman we spoke to says the water in her apartment was up to her waist. waist." san jose mayor sam

and part of the reason for and part of and part of the reason for all of this flooding in san jose is because the anderson reservoir in morgan hill is now at 103-percent capacity. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. it's usually kept at, around 68-percent for seismic saefty reasons. it's now spilling over it's spillway, and down into coyote creek. the creek flows north through morgan hill, san jose and milpitas before draining into the bay but before it gets to the bay, it's flooding low lying neighborhoods in its path. and you can stay updated on all of the flooding with

people living in the south bay mobile home park. this is video courtesy of our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 news. you can see just how much water in flooding those streets. earlier this week voluntary evacuation orders were issued. but yesterday the c-h-p went door to door telling people the needed to get out. with all this flooding comes serious health risks. the santa clara county health department is warning people about the dangers of coming into contact with floodwaters. the water may contain hazardous materials like raw sewage, household chemicals and animal waste. the health department is urging people to thoroughly wash any part of your body that has come in contact with the water. also, avoid eating any food that has touched the water, and do not let your children play with any toys that have been submerged in the water. and it's not just people who have been impacted by the flooding in the south bay. take a look at this video from our helicopter partnership with abc7 news... you can

see two horses in a flooded field. happening today... the menlo park fire protection district is sending a water rescue team to santa clara county because of all the flooding. the 14-member team is helping with water rescues near coyote creek. the team is specially trained in swift water rescue, boat operations and working with helicopters. and niles canyon road is still closed this morning because of storm damage. flooding and mudslides caused by all of the recent rain has kept part of the road closed since last thursday. fremont police tweeted out these pictures of cal-trans crews working to assess the damage and clean up the area yesterday. crews still don't know when they will be able to reopen the road. repairs on the damaged oroville spillway are being slowed down by the recent storms. but officials are now saying that the work should be done around the beginning of march. the

take a look at this... this is what's left of a caltrans worker's truck after a massive tree fell on it in nevada city. the worker says he saw the tree falling as he was going down the road. he says he had no way to stop so he just layed across the seats as the tree smashed into the windshield. worried the fuel tank in the back of the truck might explode, he crawled out of one of the windows and called for help. the worker walked away with only a few scratches. he was back at work 16 hours later. power is restored at dominican university in san rafael and the school is back open. it was closed yesterday after multiple trees came crashing down. take a look at these pictures. the damage caused a downed power line, knocking out power on campus. three cars were damaged, but the buildings

were not hit. the recreation center did have power and was open to students for showers. no one was injured. emergency crews are urging people near sacramento to evacuate because of rising flood waters. voluntary evacuations are in place for people near dry creek in rio linda. many people have been lining their homes with sandbags to keep out the water. people across the sacramento and san joaquin valleys are dealing with rising water-levels this week. authorities are telling people living along the tuolumne river to take necessary precautions to protect their land and animals. about 500 people in manteca were forced to evacuate their homes monday night after a levee was breached along the san joaquin river. crews are working to repair that levee this morning. it is unclear when people will be able to return to their homes.
