nats among the flood victims returning home friday, rock springs resident jose armago spent the day trying to salvage a few things from his garage but precious little was untouched by the flood.sot jose armago/flood victim '.....i lost two cars and eveything in my garage....it's very sad...' armago and his neighbors filled dumpsters as city crews dealt with abandoned vehicles and ruined infrastructure. other crews continued their inspections of the damage. what's left of the water pumped back into coyote creek leaving a trail of mud and debris.nats residents telling city councilman tam nguyen they are worried about the contaminated waterbut are encouraged by the city's swift response.sot tam nguyen/s.j. city councilman '......it's going good, not as fast as some people would be like but most think it's really great...'mayor sam liccardo thanked firefighters for rescuing some 350 people

there are lots of questions tonight - surrounding the city of san jose's response to the mass flooding. san jose mayor sam liccardo says he plans to hold public hearings in the future to address the lack of communication... during the floods between city leaders and residents. "the bureaucratic finger-pointing stops today. this happened in my city. i am responsible. i don't care what any bureaucracy or any other

agency believed they did or didn't do. it happened in our city. we are responsible. we are going to fix whatever problems caused the lack of advanced notice to many residents who deserved that notice." more than 350 people had to be rescued by boat - due to the quickly rising flood waters. liccardo did not give a date on when these public hearings will be - but that they will be announced in the future. a major clean up effort is underway in several san jose neighborhoods this evening - impacted by the major flooding. it's a long road to recovery... but today flood victims got some help cleaning up the flood damage. kron four's haaziq madyun is live in the flood zone near downtown san jose - with more on this story. haaziq?

lots of folks were bringing out their water damaged personal items and piling the debris in front of their homes...from there city workers hauled it away...kron4's haaziq madyun was there... the city of san jose made good on mayor liccardo's promise from yesterday...that the help is on the way. well today...help from the city arrived this heavy duty loader was busy friday picking up debris and loading it into dumpsters up and down south 20th street in san jose. the city supplied the equipment and the men and women from the san jose conservation corps to help residents who suffered major water damage during the coyote creek flood"we're working on the flood relief, we're trying to get peoples damaged goods taken out for them, help them clean out their basements, stuff like that, these people are bringing out their memories, everything that they've worked hard for""it is

niles canyon road into the creek during one of the recent storms. kron four's terisa estacio - brings us the story. it was here along the banks of almeda creek - 11 miles from where jayda jenkins crashed her car - - that her body was finally found. sot/tc: sgt. ray kellyt/alameda co. sheriff's dept. our condolenc3es go out to the family. it has been a very tough road for jayda's family. several days after jayda jenkins went missing - her family spotted a ripple in the current here along alameda creek off of niles canyon - that slight deviation turned out to be her car. standing alongside searchers - her family anxiously waited as the car was pulled out of the icey water. jayda - shown here - had crashed her car after colliding with another vehicle along niles canyon road late saturday night on january 21st during a powerful storm. the tracy resident was driving to a relatives home on the pennisula - family members say she knew the curvey road well. but when the car was pulled

out, the windows were smashed - and jayda was not inside causing more angst.looking for jayda was a daunting task - the creek swift from all of the rain, and the sides full of dangerous debris. the road was shut down for a large search team including drones and dogs to step in - but still nothing until thursday. sot/tc: kelly a dog walker in the area spotted. we are grateful, that it helps bring closure for the family. the chp's ini9tial report revelad jayda crossed over the line and colliding with another car- perhaps her vision blurred by the downpour. how she died though - is being inv3estigated by the coroner's office. sot/tc: kelly we don't know. the family did not make a fo4rmal statement today - but the sherif's department says they are making plans for jayda's funeral now that her body has finally been found. in fremont. te

but the decontamination continues in the rock springs area of san jose. crews have been out all day cleaning up the waste water that got mixed with the flood waters. yellow tape has been put up around the area... advising people to stay away...

but as kron4's will tran explains... many residents are ignoring the warning, lifting the tape up and going back to their homes to grab their items. the yellow tape means stay away.but if you're sinia ellis and many others who have been away for days... the tape doesn't mean anything to you ellis was hoping that her second floor apartment would be spared from the flood.the water rose so high on tuesday that it took out a sanitary pump sending wastewater into the streets. people in this neighborhood

are frustrated.for days they have been asking questions like when will they be able to return?so far they say they have not gotten any answers.in the meantime... the city continues to decontaminate the area using workers and equipment.the cars will eventually have to be towed away. the fire department is encouraging people to go see their doctors... and get any necessary shots to protect themselves from the contaminated water and area. flood victims are staying with family and friends... but they say that can't go on forever. they need to return home.in san jose will tran kron 4 news a skier in the sierra had to be rescued this week at heavenly mountain in el dorado county... he got separated from friends - just as a snowstorm hit the area.. catherine heenan is here with a look at the rescue..... he had to be incredibly relieved to see a

c-h-p rescue team arrive in a helicopter...the man had spent a long cold night waiting for help... this is video from the chopper.....you see a rescuer being lowered to the ground... and eventually 32-year-ol aarin yu of los angeles is strapped in and brought up... he says he that during very strong winds, he accidentally crossed into an out-of-bounds area....and found himself with snow up to his chest. the c-h-p says because of all the extra snow -- skiers and snowboardersare pushing the limits....and there have been more calls for help. yu was taken to a hospital in south lake tahoe and was treated for frostbite on two fingers.. he says he knows that things could have been much worse...

steve...? we've got good news for skiers and snowboarders who haven't had enough of the snow. low falling snow in the sierra is making for an extended ski season this year. several rounds of rain storms that swept through the bay area have brought tons of snow to the sierra mountains. ski resorts across the lake tahoe area have been packed all winter long with skiers. even at boreal...where lifts are located in the lower part of the mountains...employees expect to stay open for several more weeks. if you haven't had the chance to get up to the sierra...you still have time. this year you can take full advantage of the snow...and catch up on the time missed in previous years. all this sunshine

firefighters in oakland spent the morning rescuing a

person from underneath a bart train. the macarther station was closed for a short time just after 10:30. someone reported that the victim was underneath the train traveling from fremont to richmond. that victim was rescued and taken to a hospital. the station reopened just before 11:30. police are investigating a spike in auto burglaries in san mateo. officers say there has been an increase in car break-ins in the baywood, aragon and bridgepointe neighborhoods in recent weeks. the burglaries are happening in residential neighborhoods in the evening and in the early morning hours. police say burglars may be using an electronic device to unlock vehicles with wireless entry. still ahead on kron four news... we now know what was used to kill - kim jong nam - the half brother of north korea's leader. what we are learning about the investigation. and next, the alameda county sheriff's departmtent is remembering one of their own tonight. sheriff deputy michael foley - who was killed while on duty. this story

a man they say was the subject of police chase that resulted in a fellow officer's death. officer lucas chellew died wednesday night after being injured in a crash while chasing a suspect in south sacramento. and now, police say a 26-year-old alberto quiroz from sacramento was arrested for vehicle theft, evading an officer, and resisting arrest. 31-year-old chellew comes from a law enforcement family. his dad is a retired c-h-p captain. his sister is a c-h-p officer. and his wife's father works for the marin county sheriff's department. today we're learning more about the alameda county sheriff's deputy - who was killed after being hit by a bus while on duty. 60-year old mike foley was critically injured ... after being hit by a transportation bus at santa rita county jail in dublin this is video of the aftermath from of our helicopter partners at a-b-c 7 . we are told a senior deputy was driving the bus, and since it

was still dark outside... he did not see foley. a veteran alameda county sheriff's deputy has died from his injuries after being hit by an inmate bus wednesday morning at the santa rita jail in dublin, according to the sheriff's office. the incident happened at about 6 a.m. at the transportation yard behind the jail near broder boulevard, sgt. ray kelly said. the deputy was identified as 60-year-old michael foley, who had been with the sheriff's department for 8 years and previously was an officer with the concord police department for 29 years, kelly said. it was dark at the time of the accident and apparently the deputy who was driving "if there is any little bit of good that came out of the tragedy of mikes death.....40 years in law enforcement. " foley served the bay area in law enforcement for nearly 40- years... previously working for the concord police department. he is remebered as a loving man and one of the hardest working deputies at the agency.. police have a man in custody tonight after they say...he tried to ram his car into a sacramento county jail. it all happened early this morning. police don't know exactly why the man...54-year-old craig joseph dumas...tried to drive through one of the jail's entrances. officers say he then jumped into a patrol car and began removing some of his clothing before being arrested. the

two months of washouts, mudslides and potholes california's highways have taken a pounding in 2017. caltrans said today the damage so far will cost nearly six hundred million dollars to fix. that's more than double its yearly budget for road repairs. the extra money will have to come from the state's emergency fund. today governor jerry brown said that's just the tip of the iceberg: catherine heenan is here with some very big numbers. the governor says that california needs to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to shore up the state's crumbling infrastructure.

"the recent storms have had a real impact. you've got dam spillways erroding, roads crumbling, you add our aging infrastructure and it's maxed out."the governor says the state needs to spend 50 billion dollars to fix aging dams and spillways, 59 billion on deferred highway maintenance.and 79 billion on local streets and roads.that's nearly 200=billion dollars long-term.and he authorized spending than 400=million right now on emergency flood control.the money would go primarily to providing protection in the central valley and the sacramento-san joaquin river delta.governor brown also called for updated evacuation plans, increased inspection of the state's dams and fast=tracking federal approval of several repair projects,gov. jerry brown / california"i'm sending requests to the president to streamline the environmental review at the oroville dam project and i'm listing ten urgent areas that need environmental review. ."

president trump fires up the crowd at a major conservative conference -- with a speech that took sharp aim at the mainstream media. and shortly after that appearance at cpac, the trump white house blocked certain news organizations, from an off-camera briefing. karin caifa is in national harbor, maryland, with reaction to the speech. after a parade of top trump surrogates took the cpac stage

spending. many conservatives were hesitant to embrace trump's candidacy last year. some, even declaring, "never trump."this cpac audience-- giving trump a warm welcome. but one year after he came out on top of a raucous republican primary -- it's a different gathering, than years past.in washington, i'm karin caifa. the justice department wants a federal appeals court to put president trump's travel ban case... on hold until he issues a new order. a government motion was filed earlier today. they want the actios in the appeal to be stopped because the president intends to issue a new executive order. in this new order....president trump will address some of the constitutional concerns that were raised by his first action... which included temporarily banning travelers from seven predominantly muslim countries. the government appealed to the ninth u-s circuit court of appeals. they have until march third to file an opening brief. the justice department wants that plan set aside for now.

california lawmakers are responding to the trump administration threat to crackdown on recreational marijuana. pam moore is in

people to change their passwords. kron 4's tech reporter gabe slate is here to fill us in. like all good breaches on the web this one has a scary name.they are calling it the "cloud=bleed" bug..and this is the little image icon being passed around here's what happened.. google has a team of white hat hackers these are good guys that work for google and search the web for vulnerablities. on their researchers discovered a flaw in websites that use "cloud=fare" which is a widely used content distribution and security company, that works with almost five million websites including uber, okcupid and fitbit.so it's a platform working behind the scenes for websites you might have accounts with the cloudflare flaw may have leaked information from some of the websites..information that could have potentially been yours like private messages, authentication tokens, passwords and other sensitive data. but the

chances are low. if a cyber criminal was looking deep in the code of one of these websites compramised for sensitive information they may have been able to access some private information. for now there is now evidence or reports of anyone taking advantage of this flaw and gaining your sensitive information. again, this was found by a good guy who informed the company of the flaw and they are going to fix it. fitbit, uber, and okcupid, the three most popular websites that use cloudfare, said it's unlikely any users are affected. uber said no passwords have been leaked fitbit and okcupid said they are investigating and will let users know if they are compramised.. but if you want to be extra safe you can change all your passwords. and activate two factor authentication or to find out exactly what websites are risk to see if you use them you can visit this website "does it use cloud=fare dot com"..type in the websites you use and find out.with your tech report. gabe slate kron 4 news

the details. mark? if you haven't seen it, shaq has a regular segment on the tnt broadcast called 'shaqtin a fool'.. it's a montage of bloopers from around the nba and o'neal makes it point to consistently ridicule mcgee. the warriors center has spoken out against the mockery and last night-- their feud went to another level. but first, let's show you some of shaq's handywork. the governor is clearly reacting in part to what happened to oroville dam...but he says it's just part of a much bigger problem... in the short term - he's proposing that the state spends 437 million dollars on flood control 'now'....and otheremergency responses... that includes things like better dam inspections and flood maps.. he's asking for most of the money to come from the voter approved 2014 proposition one water bond.. he'll also ask lawmakers to re-direct 50- million dollars from the general fund. the governor says the problem is so bad....it's time to 'start spending money.' the govenor says california ultimately needs billions of dollars to fix water andtransportation infrastructure....and suggests it can only happen with tax increases. he says

he doesn't have the 'full answer' yet on raising enough money. as for the immediate action he's requesting -- he still needs approval from the legislature and wants that to happen as soon as possible. pam and steve? the costs to repair california's damaged roads this winter.. are piling up. caltrans says, its latest estimate is 600- million dollars.. to fix all the washouts and damage from mudslides. that is more than double the annual budget for emergency road repairs. and the figure could climb, because caltrans is waiting for some places to dry out. local communities are also feeling the strain. in butte county, the public works department says, it has already used up its 'entire' emergnecy fund of one - million dollars. crews are working to clean up a mudslide in orinda. this morning pg&e crews were working on a nearby transmission tower that was damaged. crews are working to reroute the transmission
