good morning i'm marty gonzalez welcome to the kron 4 morning news.. a live look at storm tracker 4 we can see scattred showers right now, but rain is on it's way later today. so lets the latest on the weekend forecast from meteorolgist dave spahr. a weather system dropping from north to south off the west coast will bring rain chances to our area today and tonight, primarily near the coastal areas. another system will produce shower chances from late sunday into monday. dry weather is expected to

we got a very short notice that we had to evacuate. i just got a phone call from work came packed up everything, i mean the most important things and left. our top story this morning... the clean up after major flooding in san jose continues. thousands of people were impacted when coyote creek spilled over. flooding homes, and cars and forcing people out of their homes with little notice. and while some have been allowed to return, as many as 3 thousand people are still out of their homes. one woman who was allowed back describes what the evacuation felt like. i felt homeless i felt trapped i felt lost. i came home and i didn't have hot water i didn't have i didn't have the stove i didn't have anything. no notices, anything on why the gas was turned off in the 1st place. san jose mayor sam liccardo is owning up to problems that existed before coyote creek breached its banks. and he had a clear message for the thousands of people impacted. let me say

this the bureaucratic finger pointing stops today. this happened in my city i'm responsible. it happened in our city, we are responsible we are gonna fix whatever problems caused the lack of advanced notice to residents. a public meeting will be held next tuesday to answer questions about why people were not warned sooner about the flooding. and happening today... the mayors office is taking action today. putting on their work gloves and grabbing shovels to help clean up neighboorhoods affected by the flooding. kron 4's averi harper is live in san jose where a neighborhood clean up is underway. averi? the san jose mayor's office in a neighborhood cleanup along coyote creek in the neighborhoods

because of the slide. officials say they don't know when the road will reopen. in the east bay... police officers were forced to shoot and kill a dog after it attacked a baby. it happened at a home on fremont street in concord. police say the family dog, a german shepard mix named charlie, started growling at the baby who was on the floor. the mother, then picked up the baby, and that's when the dog attacked. biting the ten- month old in the face. when police arrived to the scene they were able to get the dog away from the child. police say it was a very dangerous situation.

the child is being treated for the cuts on his head at children's hospital in oakland. the family says, they've had the dog since he was a puppy and this was the first time he has acted out. another big story we are following this morning.. a tragic end to the search for a missing teenager from tracy. authorities identified the body found in alameda creek thursday night as jayda jenkins. the 18-year-old went missing last month after she drove off niles canyon road into the creek during a storm. search crews and family members found her unoccupied car submerged in the creek. then thursday night her body was discovered by a man who was walking his dogs 11 miles downstream from the crash site. now, friends and family are remembering a young life lost. ...she's one of my favorite people. even is she saw if you were sad, she'd always be there for you. the family released a

is a look at some of the new medical findings released this week: long-term stress ámightá make you fat. that's according to a new study. researchers compared stress levels and body weight of more than 25-hundred men and women. they found consistent evidence that chronic stress is associated with higher levels of obesity. researchers did say that they do not know exactly why stress can lead to weight gain.

covering california. the f-b-i joins the search for a missing teen in southern california. 14 year-old elias rodriguez has been missing for more than a week. his parents say they are worried he may have been swept away by flood waters following last week's storm. rodriguez has no history of running away or family problems at home. his family has posted posters with the teens picture in the area. police are asking anyone with information to contact detectives. in the sierra, a skier is alive this morning despite spending a cold night lost in the snow. a rescue helicopter managed to find him in the wilderness the 32-year-old says heavy winds caused him to accidentally cross into an out-of-bounds area at the heavenly ski resort in lake tahoe. officers say they have seen more calls for help from skiers and snowboarders this winter. the rescued skier was treated at a hospital for

frost bite on two of his fingers, but is otherwise doing okay. two months of washouts, mudslides and potholes have taken a major toll on california's highways. cal-trans says the damage so far amounts to more than six- hundred million dollars. that is more than double the yearly budget cal-trans has alloted for road repairs. the extra money will have to come from the state's emergency fund. and now, governor jerry brown is asking president trump for help. kron four's catherine heenan breaks down some very big numbers. "the recent storms have had a real impact. you've got dam spillways erroding, roads crumbling, you add our aging infrastructure and it's maxed out."the governor says the state needs to spend 50 billion dollars to fix aging dams and spillways, 59 billion on deferred highway maintenance.and 79 billion on local streets and roads.that's

are dominating on the court. blowing out oppenents on a nightly basis. but at a recent practice the talk was all about twitter. there is an ongoing feud between warriors center javale mcgee and hall of famer shaquille o'neal. as kron 4's mark carpenter explains, now the team's stars are coming to mcgee's defense. if you haven't seen it, shaq has a regular segment on the tnt broadcast called 'shaqtin a fool'.. it's a montage of bloopers from around the nba and o'neal makes it point to consistently ridicule mcgee. the

warriors center has spoken out against the mockery and last night-- their feud went to another level. but first, let's show you some of shaq's handywork. "number 3, javale mcgee!! he just got a crazy alley-oop on an invisible mini hoop. out of bounds. i thought you said javale wasn't gonna be on anymore, nope!" and the tension has now gone beyond the television broadcast... as the two big men are now engaged in a nasty twitter war. where shaq has called mcgee a bum and threatened to fight him. today-- the warriors defended their own.... and feel this has gone on for too long. "it's not the greatest thing for your reputation. i can tell you before i got here, i had a preconceived notion of javale before he got here that turned out to be totally false and a lot of that was because of what goes on with shaq's 'shaqtin a fool' thing.""he's trying to make his money and enjoy the basketball and this perception of him now is that he's a dumb

player because he makes mistakes out on the court. shaq was a free throw shooter, he missed dunks. he airballed free throws. he can't shoot. he couldn't shoot outside the paint, he's bigger than everybody and he didn't have any skills. but he was bigger and stronger than everybody and he's still a great player, but you had your flaws too as a player." reports say the warriors have talked with turner sports about the constant criticism, but no word yet if shaq plans to dial it back. if the bullying persists, mcgee will always have people backing him up. "it's not that he's just on a good team, you still gotta put the work in. he's out there catching those lobs and getting those double-doubles, starting and changing the game for us. he's doing that because he put the work in, so respect that man." this afternoon-- shaq responded to durant on twitter...saying 'mind your business this aint for you' the nba is taking a closer look at behavior on online networks. earlier this month, the league issued a memo to teams warning against inappropriate use of social media. it's unclear if any disciplinary action would be taken against mcgee or shaq.

in the east bay. we are learning more this morning about the alameda county sheriff's deputy who died in a tragic accident. 60-year old mike foley was critically injured after being hit by a bus at santa rita county jail in dublin this is video of the aftermath courtsey of our

helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 . we are told a senior deputy was driving the bus and since it was still dark outside, he did not see foley. foley served in bay area law enforcement for nearly 40-years, previously working for the concord police department. for those who lost everything in the san jose flood, that kind of crisis could lead to a whole range of emotions like fear, anger and depression. for some, signs of stress can be seen right away, for others it could take weeks. kron 4's lydia pantazes spoke with a mental health expert about the emotional challenges flood victims may face. there are about a 140 people staying here at james lick high school.that number is expected to increase tonight. officials with the american red cross say one of the things they do here is provide grief counseling to help people cope with their loss.we spoke with a mental health expert who says it's normal for people for people to be angry, upset... or feel depressed.it's not only because of the loss of their material items but because of

the fear of what's next and not having control of the situation.we spoke to dr. janet childs, director of education and training for the bill wilson center about what the community can do to help. "we need to allow people to have their pain and to express it in any way that they can, many times that might be anger, might be withdrawn, or they just don't want to talk at all."not only is dr. childs a mental health professional, she's also a flood victim. we'll hear more about that coming up at 10.reporting in san jose, lydia pantazes kron4 news.

this is surveillance video taken at a home near the intersection of 20th avenue and pacheco in san francisco's sunset neighborhood last week. the video was recorded around 4:30 in the morning. the man, seen here, enters the front gate of the house, notices the surveillance camera and then points it at the ground. the victims shared the video on social media and say that this man searched through their garage and ransacked a car but only took a few items of little value. according to the san francisco police department there have been several late night burglaries that match this pattern. they also believe the same person is responsible for most of the break ins. so far, investigators have not identified a suspect in this case.sotit's alarming. neighbors have been sharing the video and talking about the break ins online.sotsotthe commanding officer of sfpd's taraval station said in a statement that. "the uniformed

on a new meaning. an east bay mom went into labor so quickly, her baby girl was born in the back seat of a car just outside the hospital. kron four's ella sogomonian spoke with the parents and has the story. kim gooden, mom"it's great it's not what we wanted to happen but it'll be a good story for her to tell."baby amaro was ready for the world...but the world wasn't quite ready for her arrival thursday.as her parents pulled up to the alta bates medical center in berkeley a normal delivery turned into absolute mayhem "we pulled into the parking lot and that's it the baby was coming."a code stork was called out to the maternity ward. cami bushey, labor and delivery assistant manager"which is kind of an emergency broadcast overhead at the hospital let's people know there's a baby being born outside of labor and delivery."

fortunately for the couple -delivery nurse theresa pellow- mccauley with 30 years of experience heard the scream while passing by on her way into work. "she called for gloves and delivered the baby and i'm just so thankful she was there."dad dan stone says a string of serendipitous moments led up to the event. dan stone, dad"i mean there were a couple of things that happened we almost missed the turn that would get us in front of the hospital in which case we wouldn't have made it. if we hadn't arrived at that moment the nurse wouldn't have been reporting to her shift." this is the couple's second child delivered at the same hospital- so this time they had it all planned out.'we had a bag packed and a birth plan but of course things don't work out as you think they will." born to storytellers who are both writers - their newborn has certainly given them unique material to work with. "yeah it's a good sign we have high expectations of her now."

and stole 100-thousand-dollars in luxury watches. the couple says the burglars struck when the couple had gone out for dinner. when they returned, their garage door was cut in half and their closets were ransacked. an entire watch collection, worth about 100-thousand- dollars is now gone. the couple says they now feel like their home is a target... officials are monitoring their home and continuing their investigation this morning. take a look at this new surveillance video from an apple store in southern california showing just how fast thieves can operate. keep a close eye on the man in the red shirt... he is one of the men wanted by police. you can see the thieves walk in the store, they start gathering up i-phones, then rip the cables that attach the phones to a table. it all happened in front of several witnesses in glendale. the thieves made off with 14- thousand dollars in merchandise all in a matter of seconds. coming up... it's

in the east bay. we are learning more this morning about the alameda county sheriff's deputy who died in a tragic accident. 60-year old mike foley was critically injured after being hit by a bus at santa rita county jail in dublin this is video of the aftermath courtsey of our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 . we are told a senior deputy was driving the bus and since it was still dark outside, he did not see

foley. foley served in bay area law enforcement for nearly 40-years, previously working for the concord police department. for those who lost everything in the san jose flood, that kind of crisis could lead to a whole range of emotions like fear, anger and depression. for some, signs of stress can be seen right away, for others it could take weeks. kron 4's lydia pantazes spoke with a mental health expert about the emotional challenges flood victims may face. there are about a 140 people staying here at james lick high school.that number is expected to increase tonight. officials with the american red cross say one of the things they do here is provide grief counseling to help people cope with their loss.we spoke with a mental health expert who says it's normal for people for people to be angry, upset... or feel depressed.it's not only because of the loss of their material items but because of the fear of what's next and not having control of the situation.we spoke to dr. janet childs, director of

we got a very short notice that we had to evacuate. i just got a phone call from work came here and packed up everything, i mean the most important things and left. our top story this morning... the clean up after major flooding in san jose continues. thousands of people were impacted when coyote creek spilled over. flooding homes, and cars and forcing people out of their homes with little notice. and while some have been allowed to return, as many as 3 thousand people are still out of their homes. one woman who was allowed back describes what the evacuation felt like.

district crews are working in the area this morning to repair a waterline damaged because of the slide. officials say they don't know when the road will reopen. in the east bay... police officers were forced to shoot and kill a dog after it attacked a baby. it happened at a home on fremont street in concord. police say the family dog, a german shepard mix named charlie, started growling at the baby who was on the floor. the mother, then picked up the baby, and that's when the dog attacked. biting the ten- month old in the face. when police arrived to the scene they were able to get the dog away from the child. police say it was a very dangerous situation.

old mike foley was critically injured after being hit by a bus at santa rita county jail in dublin this is video of the aftermath courtsey of our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 . we are told a senior deputy was driving the bus and since it was still dark outside, he did not see foley. foley served in bay area law enforcement for nearly 40-years, previously working for the concord police for those who lost everything in the san jose flood, that kind of crisis could lead to a whole range of emotions like fear, anger and depression. for some, signs of stress can be seen right away, for others it could take weeks. kron 4's lydia pantazes spoke with a mental health expert about the emotional challenges flood victims may face. there are about a 140 people staying here at james lick high school.that number is expected to increase tonight. officials with the american red cross say one of the things they do here is provide

are investigating a series of burglaries in a busy san francisco neighborhood. kron four's charles clifford shows us what's happening in the area. this is surveillance video taken at a home near the intersection of 20th avenue and pacheco in san francisco's sunset neighborhood last week. the video was recorded around 4:30 in the morning. the man, seen here, enters the front gate of the house, notices the surveillance camera and then points it at the ground. the victims shared the video on social media and say that this man searched through their garage and ransacked a car but only took a few items of little value. according to the san francisco police department there have been several late night burglaries that match this pattern. they also believe the same person is responsible for most of the break ins. so far, investigators have not identified a suspect in this case.sotit's alarming. neighbors have been sharing the video and talking about the break ins online.sotsotthe
