three people are dead this morning after a plane that was headed to san jose crashed into a neighborhood in riverside. two others are also injured. it happened last night, shortly before 5:00. officials say the plane struck some homes in riverside, split apart and then burst into flames. authorities say all victims were on board the plane. the aircraft went down after taking off from a nearby municipal airport. itself. one of the people

believed to be on the plane is the owner, nouri hijazi. he lives in this home in san jose near japantown with his wife dana. nouri hijazi is in his 80's. investigators say the people on the plane, at least one of whom may be a teenage girl... were in disneyland for a cheerleading event this weekend. we talked to a neighbor in san jose who says she was taking care of the hijazi's cats while they were away and noticed they did not return last night. we will continue to follow this story throughout the morning. breaking news from overnight... police in mountain view are investigating a stabbing. it happened just after 10:30 last night on phyllis avenue near pamala drive. that is just off el camino real near highway 85. one person was stabbed and taken to the hospital. there is no word on that person's condition this morning. one person has been detained by police. also breaking overnight.

a woman in pittsburg is dead after being hit by a car while walking towards another accident. this happened just after 7:00 last night near willow pass and loftus roads. police say the first crash involved a driver who lived in the area and when family members started showing up on scene one of them was hit by a third car and killed. the driver that hit the woman is cooperating with police. drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. other breaking news this morning. police are investigating a shooting on an east bay freeway. police say it happened around 7:00 last night on interstate 580 near pleasanton. one man says his care was shot several times in what he says was a road rage incident. witnesses say the shooter was a passenger in a silver toyota corolla and it was last seen heading towards oakland. nobody was injured in the shooting. friends are remembering a woman who was killed over the weekend. her allged killer, her husband.. is in jail this morning. he is also accused of killing is own

there are 500 families who can not stay in their homes this morning. this after their neighborhoods were flooded. more and more of them are getting cleared by the city... while others are still tring to pass safety inspections. kron four's spencer blake has an update on the numbers. these brothers and their family members are some of the lucky ones whose house has been green-tagged, meaning they can live here again.but as you can see, that doesn't mean their cleaning up and fixing up are anywhere close to done.more than 850 housing units have gone from yellow tag to green tag in the past 24 hours."there's been such an outpouring of neighborly compassion and love that has gone on."flood victims say the red cross - and their own neighbors - have been sharing supplies to help get things done."anything we need they seem to have."san jose community services has helped more than one thousand families since the flood water receded.215 people are still registered to stay in an

after being without a police chief since last july... oakland mayor libby schaaf swore in the city's newest chief. anne kirkpatrick is now in charge of the embattled department. she most recently worked in chicago and is oakland's first female police chief. chief kirkpatrick talked with kron four about her plans to transform the department. policing.: she is now the fourth

a threat. market street near third street was closed yesterday. this is video from our partnership with abc 7 news. several business nearby were evacuated for about two-hours. the threat came over the phone. once the 'all clear' was given, the a-d-l talked about just how serious these threats are. community. the a-d-l is also calling on law enforcement to come up with a plan to deal with the nationwide threats. the jewish community center association says since the beginning of the year, there have been 90 such incidents in 30 states and one canadian province. the threats are part of what some fear may be a rising tide of hatred and intolerance.

in the east bay. a pair of major hillslides have destabilized a highly used roadway in contra costa county. a water main under the road was also broken during the time of the slides. morgan territory road in clayton closed after last week's storms caused problems on two fronts. first a landslide caused the hill to slide above the road. then a water main broke under the road. that disrupted water for people who live there. some have been without water for days. officials do not know when morgan territory road will reopen.

a wild case unfolds at an east bay high school... this after a picture was taken of a naked educator while he was in the bathroom at a nearby health club. some students then sent the picture to one another and administrators started searching phones. kron four's j-r stone says parents are now outraged. outrage is building at clayton valley charter high school in concord after students say their privacy was violated. they say administrators pressured them into giving up their phones so they could be searched on all avenues including social media.the move comes after a picture surfaced showing a high ranking school administrator naked in the bathroom of his health club.students say most people got the photo through social media or text. some students who re-sent that photo were suspended. upset parents showed up to the school late monday afternoon. the outrage among most students came as administrators searched their personal phones.students estimate that 95 percent of the school saw the picture. they are upset that a select few were suspended and that athletes and select students avoided suspension completely.

an east bay teacher says she is receiving death threats. and now she is blaming members of the "alt-right" movement and president trump supporters yvette felarca is a teacher at martin luther king middle school and an organizer with the group called - "by any means necessary". earlier this month... felarca said she supports the protesters who stopped a planned speech at u-c berkeley by conservative writer milo yiannopoulos.

some drivers are using unusual methods to avoid parking tickets or even red lights in san francisco. a recent investigation found some drivers using blankets to hide their license plates. kron four's stanley roberts shows us in today's people behaving badly. no one like getting parking tickets, especially when the ticket comes from a camera cleverly placed inside muni buses however the sfmta believes that the cameras are having an impact nats: ambiance because they say commercial parking tickets are on the decline so right now they are dealing with the

in the east bay. a pair of major hillslides have destabilized a highly used roadway in contra costa county. a water main under the road was also broken during the slides. morgan territory road in clayton closed after last week's storms caused problems on two fronts. first a landslide caused the hill to slide above the road. then a water main broke under the road. that disrupted water for people who live in the area. some have been without water for days. officials do not know when morgan territory road will reopen.

a man accused of killing a california highway patrol officer appeared in court on monday. 26-year-old alberto quiroz has been charged with at least three felony counts. quiroz allegedly led the officer on a high speed chase. that officer died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a pole. quiroz is still behind bars. he had a outstanding felony warrant in placer county before his arrest. quiroz will be back in court next monday. one person has died and dozens are injured after a bus crash in the mojave desert. the california highway patrol says a charter bus went into oncoming traffic and crashed into two cars driving on highway 58. 26 people were on-board the bus. crews had to cut out one person from one of the crashed cars. nine people have life-

threatening injuries. the bus was heading to las vegas from fresno. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the bus to go into oncoming traffic. a teen is shot and killed in georgia after he was mistaken for a burglar. 17-year-old jordan middleton was invited into the home by the homeowners daughter. that's when investigators say the father mistook him for an intruder after hearing noises downstairs. middleton died from a gunshot wound to the chest. his classmates and friends paid tribute to him yesterday... students at middleton's high school dressed in black... writing what they wish they could say to their friend who's no longer here. some drivers are using different tactics to avoid parking tickets or tickets from running red lights in san francisco. kron 4's stanley roberts explains in this edition of people behaving badly. no one like getting parking

antioch. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. police have identified the victim as 28-year-old braun harold. they say he was found inside his car with a gunshot wound on the hillcrest avenue off-ramp on saturday night. he died at the scene. the c-h-p says the gunman drove away before officers could get there. this is one of several shootings on highway-four in the past year. a santa rosa woman is still in shock after learning her care-giver was found dead inside her own home over the weekend. wendy hankins says she would normally see her caregiver and friend jessica carlson during the week. but on friday...hankins did not hear from carlson. the next day...carlson was found dead inside her home. her husband 32-year-old dalton carlson is accused of killing her as well as his own father. call them last minute telling them she wasn't coming to work or her husband would constantly be calling her while she was at work. jessica carlson leaves behind two teenage daughters. we are now hearing from the uber driver that was attacked by a passenger in daly city. we first brought this story to you yesterday in the kron four morning news. john mohler was beaten saturday night near a century theatre. he asked the three passengers to leave his car since they requested an "uber pool," which only allows for two people. he was attacked and then the three people ran off. uber has since cancelled the account of the passenger who requested the ride. mohler is now waiting for justice as headaches have left him unable to work since the attack.

here's a quick look at the top stories we're following this morning... at least three people are dead this morning after a plane that was headed to san jose crashed into homes in riverside. two others are also injured. it happened yesterday evening just before 5:00. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash. jewish communities in at least 20 cities across the country receive threats of violence
