they apparently jumped off the top around 1130 last night and floated to the west landing along jones street two blocks away. bad luck on their part, they were spotted by police officers in a cruiser. now the two men were arrested and charged with trespassing for entering the hotel and conspiracy for planning to trespass. the police department said today that they discourage this sort of act not so much because it's dangerous to the people jumping but because it puts people on the ground in danger. this is a very busy area, there are a lot of cars and pedestrians even late at night and they don't want anyone to get hurt. "people who are doing these extreme sports need to remember that there is a public to look out for and they need to remain safe. so that's why we don't condone this sort of thing. if someone had gotten hurt there may have been additional charges."police are also

competition. the cause of the crash... is under investigation. in the east bay... a man suspcted of being involved in a rolling gun battle in san leandro is now behind bars... it has been a three and a half month investigation into this car-to-car shooting t back in november. one suspected gunman was arrested at the scene, the other got away. now, as kron4's haaziq madyun reports...san leandro police have arrested the second suspect. the results are in from the latest survey of the sierra snowpack...and as expected -- they're impressive. after 5 years of punishing drought...california surveyors say thesierra nevada snowpack is actually close to setting records.. they did the measurements this morning...and say the water content is 185%of normal. a year ago -- it was 84 percent. it's so deep -- in some places it's near levels last seen in 1983. the snowpack is vital since it provides about a third of the state's water to homes and farms. the new numbers vary depending on the area -- for example in the southern sierra - the snowpack is at more than 200% of normal.

there was a promise today from officials to make navigating a very popular route in san francisco easier. but it will come with a hefty cost. for the next two years traveling on van ness is going to be tougher, and it's no picnic right now. as kron fours terisa estacio shows us.... the final project is billed as a benefit to drivers, pedestrians and any one else passing through. but not everyone is sold. this is what van ness looks like now - the middle section chewed up with road signs blocking drivers from making left turns and swallowing up a lane on both sides making the route even more difficult then usuall in this city dealing with increasing congestion. now look at this - this is what it will look like in the future - it is all part of the van ness improvement

navarro murder suspects 030117 6pkg24 year old aaron vallejo and 32 year old robert ruiz are charged with murder in connection with this weekends fatal stabbing of frank navarro. navarro was killed just after midnight sunday morning while working security at the tres gringos cabo cantina in downtown san jose. sotthis all started by an i.d. family friends say it began with a dispute when someone tried to enter the club using someone else's i.d. friends of navarro say the suspects left the scene only to return a short time later. that's when navarro was fatally stabbed. the two suspects were later arrested sot phillip beltran/ 38-47when i first layed eyes on them they look like the cowards that they are, what they did to my nephew, senseless, sensless navarro's aunt and uncle and a family friend were in court to see the suspects for themselves. they say while working security was his job, being a little league coach was frank navarro's passion something he has done since

we are learning more about one of the victims who was killed when a small plane crashed into homes in southern california on monday.... catherine heenan is here with the latest on nadine fareles... 22-year-old adine farelas had worked until recently at a preschool in los gatos... she was on her way back to san jose after her younger sister's cheerleading competition... colleagues say the community has lost a 'wonderful' person....and say she had a real love for children. her mother silvia farelas was badly injured.....and adine's brother says today that his mother is recoveringafter surgery for severe burns. aside from adine....the other two people killed in the crash are the pilot - nouri hijazi and his wife dana. a relative says their daughter stacey is in critical condition. as for the farelas family - the daughter who took part in the cheerleading competition arrived safely back in san jose by bus -- with the rest of her team.

could be out on bail as soon as friday. that ruling coming down today from a federal judge in oakland. kron4's maureen kelly has reaction from a friend of the accused. i'm standing outside noor salman's family home in rodeo....once she posts her half million dollar bail...she won't be living here, but rather nearby at her uncle's home....and will have to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of her release. salman has been incarcerated at the santa rita jail in dublin since she was taken from her home by federal agents back in january.she was arrested. the 31 year old is accused of aiding and abetting her husband omar mateen in providing support to the islamic state when mateen killed 49 people in an attack at a gay nightclub last june. mateen was later killed in a shootout with police.salman faces a second count of obstructing justice .when allowing bail the judge said she didn't believe salman, who's been separated from her 4 year son since the arrest is a flight risk or a danger to the public. the judge also

the u.s.g.s.does the annual outlook.. this time it says that a large portion of oklahoma and parts of 'central' california have thehighest risk for a damaging quake this year.....between 5 and 12 percent. as for california -- the report says a large area south of the bay neargilroy has the highest natural risk of a big quake. that's based partly on the lengthy san andreas fault - which seems most active.pam? with that barrage of storms soaking the bay area in recent weeks... the northern sierra water content... is well above average for this time of the year. that's according to california surveyors who say, the sierra nevada snowpack is actually close to setting records.. they did the measurements this morning... and the water content is 185 - percent of normal. a year ago -- it was 84 -percent.
