kelly park. damage to public property, including the soccer fields here at watson park, which are covered with dried mud and will likely have to be replaced, has been pegged at $23 million dollars and counting. scores of trees are down and there is widespread road damage. this is coyote ranch road in south san jose, virtually washed away by the flood when it's all added up, the damage to public property is expected to go far higher than that preliminary $23 million dollar estimate. the office of emergency services is expected to rpovide an update on friday. in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news.

a woman in vallejo was awakened by the sound of burglars kicking-in the back door of her home the frightening situation happened in the middle of the day in an north bay neighborhood. the crime was captured on surveillance video the homeowner says there's an ongoing problem with burglaries... and as kron4's haaziq madyun reports...this is the ásecondá time burglars have targeted this particular home. "this is as far as i got, i just went like that, then the dogs were right here trying to alert me, barking at me, then i just backed up"and the reason that you backed up is? now at 5:30... president trump saying he "wasn't aware" his attorney general jeff sessions - had contact with the russian ambassador during last year's campaign. now sessions is stepping aside from leading an f-b-i investigation into russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. but some democrats and republicans don't think that's enough. they say he lied under oath and to the american people about the two meetings he had with russia's ambassador. they want him to resign. according to current and former senior us officials, they say the russian ambassador is considered by u-s intelligence to be one of russia's top spies and spy-recruiters in washington, but sessions says he did not mislead the committee, arguing that the two meetings with the russian ambassadors were not tied to his role in the trump campaign. jeff sessions/u.s. attorney general: "we talked a little bit about terrorism, as i recall. and somehow the

a big story tonight: arrests have been made in freeway shooting that targeted an off duty oakland police officer. the shooting itself happened overnight...alo ng southbound...interstate 880 right near 16th avenue... there was a chase... and it took officers into east oakland. police tracked down the suspects car on brookdale... but there was no sign of them. late this afternoon we learned two people have been taken into custody. kron 4's dan kerman is following this story ... he joins us live from police headquarters in oakland with an update. dan?

oakland police have taken two people into custody in connection with wednesday night's freeway shooting involving an off duty oakland police officer.sot anne kirkpatrick/oakland police chief 08-16i take very seriously when deadly force or any kind of force is used against our officers. its not ok and its not acceptable during a brief availability oakland's new police chief announced the arrest of two people connected with the shooting and a third that so far is not connected to the case. it was 11-40 wednesday night when the off duty oakland officer's personal vehicle was shot at while traveling south on interstate 880 near the 16th avenue exit. the officer was not hit, but the vehicle wassoti'm very grateful that our officer is ok. very grateful and i don't want any violence toward

it looks like a shipyard in san francisco is going to remain open. the company that runs the dry docks at pier 70 has reached a 90-day interim deal with the port. this is pier 70 from last year when it was taken over as part of the festivities for super bowl 50. about 250 people work at the docks. the current operator is in the middle of a legal dispute with the company that previously ran the facility. the new company has filed a lawsuit because it says one of the docks needs 9-million dollars in repairs... and it was misled when it purchased them. the city of san francisco is suing the rental car company hertz over a service fee that comes with paying tolls on the golden gate bridge. the city claims customers are getting hit with steep fees when they cross the iconic bridge. in some instances, they are charged four times the cost of the toll of 7-dollars and 50-cent toll. hertz offers a
