caltrans cruise discovered that there was a 25 foot crack in the overpass they have been examining it ever since they close down to southbound lanes of 101 and one lane of the overpass. now earlier today they discover the damage was worse than first believed it was actually 45 to 50 feet of the overpass is damage. at this point one lane of southbound 101 remains close that lane up on the embarcadero is going to be shut in definitely and what they're doing is putting a tarp of the damage to keep concrete from falling into the roadway at this point they're hoping to reopen the section of roadway 101 by 7 pm this evening also at this point to california highway patrol has not said why the driver of the truck may have been driving with the dump trailer up apparently drugs and alcohol were not a factor. in palo alto charles clifford kron 4 news happening

happening now... crews are working to repair a ruptured gas line - that forced the evacuation of homes in san jose this morning. this is video from our partnership with abc7 news... recent storms contributed to rupture... which was reported at around 11 a-m. 3 homes were evacuated. it happened on suncrest avenue and perie lane near alum rock park. no injuries have been reported. the problem was fixed by 3 this a federal judge in florida has reversed the order that would have allowed the wife of the orlando nightclub shooter out on bail. the young mother has been locked up in the santa rita jail in dublin since her arrest in january. kron4's maureen kelly has new details on the prosecution's case -- and reaction from a friend of noor salman.

have mercy let her come out now and see her sonthat's the plea to the judge in florida from a woman who says noor salman is like a daughter to her.....she says she and salman's mother cried after hearing the decision blocked that would have to let the young mother return to her family. wednesday a federal judge in oakland said salman should be allowed to make bail because there was no proof that she has ties to the islamic state or holds extermist views herself.in their motion to keep salman jailed until trial prosecutors said there is a presumtion in the law for her to stay locked up because the massacre in the gay nightclub that left 49 people dead invovles terrorism. they claim she knew her husband omar mateen watched isis training and beheading videos and allegedly told the fbi that the day of the shooting she knew mateen left her home with a rifle and

missouri man is under arrest. police say he's the person responsible for some of them. (ááácrossááá)steve aveson is here with the details. his name is juan thompson ... a failed journalist and spurned lover .his motive, according to the fbi's complaint, was not anti=semitism, but revenge, "thompson made a number of threats against jewish institutions using his ex- girlfriend's name, as well as other threats in his own name. the fbi says thompson tried to portray his ex=girlfriend as anti=semitic ... then claimed she was trying to do the same thing to him.in this tweet he claims he is the victim of a quote "nasty racist white girl."there's a c-4 bomb. there is going to be a bloodbath.thompson is charged with using an electronic device to disguise his voice ... as well as using fake internet e=mail accounts. agents took phones and computers from his parents

kron four's terisa estacio talked to some family members who say foley's spirit will carry on... pkg - track: estacio - hundreds packed the concord pavillion friday as they gathered to honor alameda county deputy mike foley. sot/tc: michael foley/son/fallen deputy i did not plan to be here - but i am strong because my father raised me to this way. foley died last week - after he was hit by a bus in the parking lot at the santa rita jail where he has worked for the last 9 years. it was early - and the driver did not see him. on friday - it was not about the sadness of what happened, but a time to pay tribute. foley started his career with the concord police department then went to sheriff's department - where he mentoried younger deputies and inmates. sot/tc: sheriff gregory ahern/alameda co sheriff he was a great

we have new drone video of the oroville dam spillway...it's another good view of the beehive of activity that continues.. also - the shocking damage to the spillway -- the result of heavy rain and erosion. this time - we're also seeing more of the work crews on the site....who are clearingaway debris 24 hours a day. they continue to haul off sediment and debris below the

(ááácrossááá) kron 4's tech reporter gabe slate joins us now.. gabe, how did this draft document surface??? a berkeley based doctor, joel moskowitz, sued the state in 2016 under the "california public records act" to get it released.let's take a look at it.. so first thing you'll notice is the big black letters stamped across it "draft and not for public release." the document, titled "cell phones and health" details concerns of cell phone radiation exposure. the first paragraph states health officials are concerned about the possible health effects from cell phones because recent studies

suggest they may cause an increase in the risk of brain cancer and other health issues. then the guideline goes on to explain how cell phones emit radiation and their advice of how to avoid it. which it includes keeping the device away from your body. keep calls short and use speaker phone on lengthly calls. use a headset when possible. it also warns that radiation from phones can pass deeper into children and teens so they may be at greter risk. the agency behind this draft document the california department of public health sent us a statement saying this was a draft and never intended for public release. they said this guidance was never finalized or adopted by the department. the project was discontinued when the cdc, or centers for disease control and prevention, issued national guidance on the same subject. the california department of public health said for people concerned or confused about cell phone usage to look at the cdc website. i looked at that and here is what the

101 you have the dump trailer in the up position and hit the overpass now the driver of the truck receive minor injuries he was taken to the hospital when the truck was remove caltrans cruise discovered that there was a 25 foot crack in the overpass they have been examining it ever since they close down to southbound lanes of 101 and one lane of the overpass. now earlier today they discover the damage was worse than first believed it was actually 45 to 50 feet of the overpass is damage. at this point one lane of southbound 101 remains close that lane up on the embarcadero is going to be shut in definitely and what they're doing is putting a tarp of the damage to keep concrete from falling into the roadway at this point they're hoping to reopen the section of roadway 101 by 7 pm this evening also at this point to california highway patrol has not said why the driver of the truck may have been driving with the dump trailer up apparently drugs and alcohol were not a factor. in palo alto charles clifford kron 4 news

mother cried on hearing the decision.they'd been looking forward for the young mother to be able to be reunited with her 4 year old son, who she hasn't seen since she was taken into custody in january. . wednesday a federal judge in oakland said salman should be allowed to make bail because there was no proof that she has ties to the islamic state or holds extermist views herself.in their motion to keep salman jailed until trial prosecutors said there is a presumtion in the law for her to stay locked up because the massacre in the gay nightclub that left 49 people dead invovles terrorism. they claim she knew her husband omar mateen watched isis training and beheading videos and allegedly told the fbi that the day of the shooting she knew mateen left her home with a rifle and a backpack full of ammuntion.her attorney says mateen was abusive to her, and that she did not know what he intended to do. mateen was killed later in a shootout with police.today a woman who says noor salman is like a daughter to her, made this plea to the judge.i want him to have mercy to have mercy to help her not to put her in this situationif you see her inside the jail i feel very sorry for her she's very tired she always tell me auntie i want to go home i want to go homei tell her just put your faith in god you are innocent and god will let you out because you are innocent and god know that.neighbor in this area who didn't want to appear on camera who says in his oppinon....jail is a good place for noor salman to stay

until it's proved beyond a shadow of a doubth that involvement in the massacre. maureen kelly kron4 news. in the east bay... a rally in support of president donald trump is causing concern. it is called a march for trump. supporters of the new president are heading back to one of the most liberal cities in america to express their first amendment rights. a few weeks ago an event featuring an alt-right speaker turned violent. that is why one of the organizers of that event, tells kron4's haaziq madyun... he will be skipping tomorrow's march so...this is what happened the last time a supporter of president donald trump was scheduled to speak at an event in at uc berkeley. "we definitely expected protest to occur that is why we paid nearly 10-thousand-dollars for 100 uc police officers"naweed tahmas is a memer of the berkeley college republicans who organized that event. on saturday another pro-president trump event will take place. it is called a march 4 trump.
