(grant) another big story tonight... high tension in the east bay. a homeowner's decision to fly the confederate flag is met with backlash from some of his neighbors. kron four's philippe djegal reports from brentwood... where the nation's political and racial divide are coming to a head. eric harvey explains why he chose to start flying the

(vicki) the santa clara district attorneys officer is looking into the shooting death of a young man by a police officer...to try and determine if the shooting was justified. it started early this morning when a woman called police saying that her son was acting erratically. when officers arrived they found the man...and at some point a confrontation led them near the intersection of scott boulevard and monroe street. police say the man would not cooperate...and they needed to use deadly force.

the san mateo county sheriff's department looking for whoever is responsible for 2 sexual assaults near the palo alto cal train station. the first happened at the stanford bus stop. take a look at the video we have of the area. this happened on march 1... late...after 10:45 at night . there, a man approached the female victim. making small talk and then lunging at her to grope her. the victim fought back. investigators say he's at most 5 feet 8 inches tall... between 35-40 years old.. and was last seen wearing a green t-shirt. the second case happened a week later... the victim in that case was walking home from the cal train station on alma st. when the suspect grabbed her. she fought back and chased him. a surveillance video caught a picture of the man take a look. he's described as about 5"8... in his 40s and wearing a green jacket. we talked to riders on the platform about safety "there's always people sleeping on the benches and down in the tunnel it's always scary." "i'm always aware of my surroundings and kind of just make sure i know what i'm doing and kind of keep aware." "i know not to be here at night both of those happened after 9 o'clock and i usually get off the train at 6:30 so i'm just making a note not to... i do come early in the morning but there are other people around." in getting driverless vehicles onto california roads. today the dmv has released proposed regulations for autonomous vehicles. the documents are a framework for how a car manufacturer can prove to the dmv that their product is ready for testing on public roads. for example, driverless cars would need to be remotely monitored and have the ability to pull over in an emergency. today marks the start of a 45-day public comment period which will end with a public hearing in sacramento. the d-m-v say's it has granted uber permission to run two self-driving volvo s-u-v's on public roads. if you remember... last december the self-driving cars were ordered off the road because the company did not have approval from state regulators. uber eventually moved the cars to arizona. while the self-driving cars can be back on the street, uber says they won't pick up any passengers ... for now. we do not know which cities that the self-driving cars will be operated in.

(gary) and the warriors are back on the road. golden state facing the t'wolves in minnesota tonight...the first of a back-to-back that includes a showdown with san antonio tomorrow. right now-- warriors... the warriors didn't get off to a good start... they trailed by as many as 17 in the first half and were 2-of-10 on threes. we'll have full highlights on kron4 news at 8. (gary) the warriors won't be the only ones missing a star player tomorrow night against the spurs big loss for san antonio as kawhi leonard has been ruled out. the mvp candidate is in the league's concussion protocol...after taking a hit to the head in last night's game vs oklahoma city. it's a big loss as he is their leading scorer and best defender. tommorow's game is a matchup of the top two teams in the western conference.

(gary) big day for the 49ers.... as the team introduced its first crop of free agents in the john lynch and kyle shanahan era. the niners signed 10-players this week... including-- receivers pierre garcon and marquise goodwin and former raiders linebacker malcolm smith. one of the most intriguing signings is bryan hoyer... the journeyman quarterback is reuniting with shanahan as the two spent the 2014 season together in cleveland. that year was probably one of the best of hoyer's career. let's hear from the new niners qb. " i feel like we kind of have some unfinished business from cleveland. we didn't get even a full year. so, to get another chance to be in this system, to be around him. he talked about knowing the type of guy i am, i know the type of guy he is too and i know that this is his life and you want to be around a coach like that." joined from the chest down and it took a 50-member medical team and 17 hours to successfully separate them. the operation happened at stanford childrens hospital december 6th.. doctors say the girls are doing well -- and blossoming into their own personalities.. the girls had shared a third leg.. each twin still has one leg and retained portions of the organs
