( james ) and we have just learned that a woman was killed in police say the man is considered armed and dangerous... and he remains on the loose this morning. this all started yesterday evening when fremont police officers found a car in hayward that was connected to several armed robberies throughout the bay area. the detectives attempted to stop the van at the city view apartment complex near the cal state east bay campus. the driver of the van then suddenly drove into the police

cars, injuring two fremont police detectives. the officers opened fire, and hit and killed the driver. two passengers were arrested at the scene, but one man ran away. police say he is still on the loose this morning. the two fremont police officers who were injured were treated and released from the hospital. near point reyes. kron four's alecia reid talked to her husband.. the victim's estranged husband is a potential suspect.he says he's been treated as a suspect from the moment his wife went missing.but he's very adamant he had nothing to do with it. pkgsot - i did not do this. i did not kill her. no!by chance, annie bailly's skeletal remains were discovered over a cliff at the point reyes national seashore in february.sot - there was a car crash in the area and the people involved spotted her remains by mere chance.the 63 year old had been missing for over 2 years. her and her estranged husband kerry had been married for 18 years, and were going through a divorce but lived in the same davis lane home. the day annie's husband reported her missing, her vehicle, keys, and purse were still at home. kerry says her bank account also went untouched while she was missing. he believes annie committed suicide. he says she's tried in the past. when asked if he would hurt his

wife..sot - no! i called 911 the 2 times she tried to commit suicide. i intervened. crime scene investigators towed annie's vehicle to search for forensic evidence. they also used a search warrant to get inside the home, both monday and tuesday. kerry wasn't allowed to stay there monday night.sot - they tore everything up. i'm 74 with cancer. how much longer am i gonna live?annie's family had issued a $10-thousand dollar award for finding her. although no cause of death has been announced, evidence shows she was murdered.sot - suicide is ruled out, an accident is ruled out. this is definitely a homicide.kerry isn't sure what was taken from his home during the search, but says his weapons are all gone.sot - they took all 3 of my guns. standupthis is still a very active investigation as authorities continue to follow up on leads.anyone with information that may help the case is urged to call the sonoma county sheriff's office. reporting live from penngrove....

( robin ) veteran firefighters say they've neevr seen anything like it. a man, trapped in a restaurant wall in napa. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron four morning news.( james ) you can see the tight little area where he was found... all without his clothes on. this is at the togo's in napa. firefighters had to remove part of a wall to get him out of a narrow ventalation schaft. he'd been stuck in there overnight, after allegedly entering an access door on the roof. just after 8:00 yesterday morning, some people finally heard shouting and cries for help. it seemed to be coming from inside the wall of togos.

and he said i was looking for a wishing well. did you fall? he said no i was drunk and i fell in here.>( james ) 48-year-old robert turbidy allegedly lowered himself into an 18-inch crawl space using a make-shift rope. at some point the rope broke....and he was wedged in there for about 8 hours. he was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. he's been booked into jail on suspicion of burglary and violating his probation. ( robin ) in the east bay. oakland fire chief teresa de-loach- reed is officially retiring. oakland's first african-american female fire chief signed her retirement papers yesterday. she began her career as a firefighter with the city of san jose back in 1986. she was promoted to fire chief in oakland.. in 20-12.

oakland mayor libby schaaf thanked de-loach- reed for her service and announced the city is launching a nationwide search for a new chief. teresa de-loach- reed's last day is may 5th. ( james ) breaking news... the department of justice is expected to announce charges against hackers who they believe stole data from millions of yahoo accounts. investigators say the hackers do have ties to russia. yahoo was hacked twice in recent years. in one incident one billion users had information stolen back in august of 2013. yahoo didn't inform people who may have been affected until last year. kron four's averi harper will have a live report from yahoo later this morning. ( james ) in the east bay. nearly a half dozen robberies at gunpoint are reported in fremont in just the last week. police say they are using all resources in the case this morning...making sure that all detectives available are involved in the investigation. they are also in contact with neighboring agencies. the most recent robbery at gunpoint happened late friday night near alder court where a

man's phone, credit and debit cards were taken by three robbers. the victim was not injured. police say the motive behind the robberies is unclear because the theives are only getting away with small items. ( robin ) murder charges are filed against one of the three people arrested after a deadly shooting on interstate-80 in richmond last week. 24-year- old elliott johnson made his first court appearance yesterday. his arraignment was pushed back to next thursday. two 17-year olds are also in custody accused in the shooting. two people were hit by the gunfire -- one died. ( robin ) in the east bay. a fight turns deadly in san leandro. and police now say surveillance footage has helped them identify someone in connection. this happened on monday afternoon when officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about a fight. when they arrived to the home on selborne drive, they found a trail of blood. they followed it, they say it lead to the front door of the home.

was going on inside. they made entry into the residence. when they got in there they found a man down in the kitchen. he was suffering from fatal wounds. he was pronounced dead at the scene.">( robin ) invesitgators spent yesterday looking through home surveillance cameras and have found a man who they believe is involved. sergent kelly says they have had dealings with him in the past. investigators are now working on getting a license plate from the killer's car. ( james ) in south bay headlines. san jose is under a 'shelter crisis' this morning for those affected by last months flooding on coyote creek. getting flood victims back into their homes and neighborhoods is taking longer than expected.( robin ) the san jose city council is expected to adopt a formal resolution declaring a 'shelter crisis.' this will allow flood victims to stay at "seven trees" community center until the end of may. "seven trees" in san jose is serving as the primary shelter for those

displaced by the flood. as many as 180 affected people have been staying there since it opened last month. ray bramson/san jose housing dept.< '.....we have a lot of residents that were displaced by the flood, some are temporarily out of their homes, some folks won't be able to go back. so we want to make sure we transition everyone who doesn't have a home back into a stable, safe living environment...'>( robin ) the city council is considering a separate agreement with the nonprofit known as 'home first." this to provide shelter for people with homes that are still restricted. ( james ) after a mercury spill in an antioch neighborhood, hazmat crews say they are now using sensors to make sure it is all cleaned up and people living there are safe. several areas along manzanita way have been roped off with yellow tape since monday. these are the spots the e-p-a says have been contaminated with mercury. hazmat crews could be seen using vacuums to clean up the spill. at this point they do not know how much mercury was spilled nor how it got

( james ) on the peninsula. a man suspected in two sex assaults in palo alto includling one at a cal-train station is under arrest. the san mateo county sheriff's office says 26-year-old george moubarak turned himself in. they say moubarak saw the sketches on television and social media and showed up at

) kron four's stanley roberts found a bay area intersection where many drivers are not following the rules. he shows us in this morning's edition of people behaving badly. so you're talking about this specific red light welcome to the city by the bay where nothing is as it seems. case in point the intersection of beach, buchannan and marina blvd .near fort mason. on the corner you will find a driver, pedestrian and bicycle traffic signalsi'm not use to these lights like in hayward, or oakland where usually bike so we're not use to these kinds of lightsboth the driver and the bicycle signals are timed together. the pedestrian light stops people from walking a wee bit earlier. but at some point they all have to stop .. the key word here is stop it's more of a thing with society when you do go on the street you don't look at the lights as a bicyclist unless your on the road when you're a driver with the car your going to see the lights all the time which is an interesting statement by itself because most of the tourist get the stop part of

family is now pleaing for answers, questioning why he died. themeka curry took her son michael to the dentist's office last week, a place where he has had procedures under anesthesia before. she describes her son as a sweet and happy boy who was also developmentally delayed. that is why she went to a specific dental office, because she says they specialized in treating children with special needs. in the recovery room, michael just did not wake up and one of the employees noticed he stopped breathing.

video from a kron four viewer. the animal was seen swimming near an irrigation canal in vacaville.( robin ) a rescue team from the marine mammal center was called in... the animal gave them the slip and has not been seen since. but as kron four's charles clifford reports, rescuers are not giving up. tuesday morning, vacaville resident ross mobbley snapped this picture of a sea lion sunning itself in an irrigation canal just outside town. ross can't recall a sea lion ever being spotted this far inland.sot

center team spent several hours trying to coax the sea lion out by running water through the culvert and using air horns. their plan was to sedate the animal and load it into this truck and take it back to open water. unfortunately, by sunset the sea lion had not reappeared and the rescue team decided to call it a day.sot ( robin ) that was kron four's charles clifford reporting. the marine mammal center says they will return this morning to resume the search. ( james ) the golden state warriors held an event to show off what they have in store for the new chase center in san francisco. the event for season ticket holders was

mainly to showcase the experience in the new state of the art suites. those overseeing construction were able to give fans a virtual look at what the view from their seats would look like. team executives say the venue will host concerts and other events besides basketball games. started on monday afternoon when officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about a fight. when they arrived to the home on selborne drive...they found a trail of blood. when they followed it...it lead to the front door of a home. they went inside and found the victim. investigators spent the day yesterday combing through home surveillance cameras and found a man they believe is involved in the murder. police have not released his name but say they have had dealings with the man in the past. they are now working to get his license plate number. ( mark ) murder charges are filed against one of the three people arrested after a deadly shooting on interstate-80 in richmond last week. 24-year- old elliott johnson made his first court appearance yesterday. his arraignment was pushed back until next thursday. two 17-year olds are also in custody accused in the shooting. ( anny ) at least 5 people are dead following that major winter strom that hit the east coast. millions of people are still being impacted this morning. this was the scene in boston... the heavy snow making for dangerous conditions on the roads. two-thousand national guard troops have been activated across the east coast to help with relief efforts. ( anny ) and this was the scene in atlantic city, new jersey yesterday. the streets looking more like rivers and streams. in some areas the water was more than a foot deep. several drivers had to be rescued after their cars got stuck in

the flooding. one person living in the area said this is one of the worst storms he has seen in the 55 years he has lived in atlantic city. ( anny ) and in baltimore streets were covered in snow and fallen trees. most places in maryland saw between 8 and 12 inches of snow. but the storm did knock over some trees which damaged cars that were parked along the streets. city officials say crews worked through the night to prepare the roads for this morning. this is hall's second run-in with officers in less than a month. the d-a says on february 20th... he was arrested for resisting a police officer and trespassing. vallejo police are now investigating whether the officer seen beating hall with a flashlight used excessive force during his arrest on friday. ( darya ) the remains of a woman from penngrove who went missing over two years ago have been discovered. 63-year-old annie bailly vanished in december of 20-14. her body was found last month near point reyes, and her death is considered a homicide. bailly and her estranged husband, kerry, had been married for 18 years and were going through a divorce, but lived in the same home. the day kerry reported her missing, her car, keys and purse were still at home. kerry says he had nothing to do with her death. he believes she committed suicide, saying that she has tried in the past.

( darya ) veteran firefighters say they've neevr seen anything like it. a man, trapped in a restaurant wall in napa. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron four morning news. you can see the tight little area where he was found... without his clothes on. this is at the togo's in napa. firefighters had to remove part of a wall to get him out of a narrow ventalation shaft. he was stuck in there overnight, after entering an access door on the roof.

oakland fire chief teresa deloach- reed is officially retiring. oakland's first african-american female fire chief signed her retirement papers yesterday. she began her career as a firefighter with the city of san jose back in 1986. she was promoted to fire chief in oakland in 2012. oakland mayor libby schaaf thanked deloach- reed for her service and announced the city is launching a nationwide search for a new chief. teresa deloach- reed's last day is may 5th. ( mark ) police arrest a woman they say abandoned her two-year-old daughter at a store in riverside. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron four news at six. the 31-year-old was arrested yesterday afternoon at a bank after a teller recognized her from news reports. she was caught on surveillance video leaving her daughter at a "food for less" over the weekend. police say she was recently kicked out of her home because she had problems with drugs a alcohol abuse, as well as mental issues. she could face multiple charges including child endangerment and child abandonment. the most recent robbery happened late friday night near alder court where a man's phone, credit and debit cards were taken by three robbers. the victim was not injured. ( darya ) a man suspected in two sex assaults in palo alto includling one at a cal-train station is under arrest. the san mateo county sheriff's office says 26-year-old george moubarak turned himself in. they say moubarak saw the sketches on television and social media and showed up at the palo alto police department. investigators say besides the caltrain assault, moubarak is suspected in an attack in downtown palo alto. ( darya ) in the north bay. an arrest has been made in a sexual assault in napa. police say the suspect was selling magazines door to door, when he entered a woman's home monday night on pine street. the suspect has been identified as lester morris ivy. he was arrested... accused of burglary and sexual battery. ( mark ) san jose is in a 'shelter crisis' this morning for those affected by last months flooding on coyote

creek. getting flood victims back into their homes and neighborhoods is taking longer than expected. the san jose city council is expected to adopt a formal resolution declaring a 'shelter crisis.' this will allow flood victims to stay at "seven trees" community center until the end of may. "seven trees" in san jose is serving as the primary shelter for those displaced by the flood. as many as 180 people have been staying there since it opened last month. ray bramson/san jose housing dept.< '.....we have a lot of residents that were displaced by the flood, some are temporarily out of their homes, some folks won't be able to go back. so we want to make sure we transition everyone who doesn't have a home back into a stable, safe living environment...'>( mark ) the city council is also considering a separate agreement with the nonprofit known as 'home first." this to provide shelter for people with homes that are still restricted. ( mark ) fremont quietly became the latest bay area city to declare itself a sanctuary city. the city council made the move at last week's meeting. it could put the city at risk of losing out on federal money. president trump has indicated he will cutoff money to sanctuary cities. it remains to be seen what effect this declaration will have the fremont police department. current policy dictates sharing information with immigration and customs enforcement if requested. police will also notify ice if a prisoner meets certain criteria. ( mark ) a mother in los angeles is now behind bars... accused of stabbing her own baby girl. it happened

fight turns deadly in san leandro. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. now police say surveillance footage has helped them identify a suspect. it started on monday afternoon when officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about a fight. when they arrived to the home on selborne drive...they found a trail of blood. when they followed it...it lead to the front door of a home. they went inside and found the victim. investigators spent the day yesterday combing through home surveillance cameras and found a man they believe is involved in the murder. police have not released his name but say they have had dealings with the man in the past. they are now working to get his license plate number. ( mark ) murder charges are filed against one of the three people arrested after a deadly shooting on interstate-80 in richmond last week. 24-year- old elliott johnson made his first court appearance yesterday. his arraignment was pushed back until next thursday. two 17-year olds are also in custody accused in the shooting. that killed 24

year old demarcus doss and wounded his female passenger. there have been close to 80 shootings on bay area freeways since 2015 ( mark ) the suspect at the center of a video that some say shows vallejo police using excessive force has his first day in court. dejuan hall is charged with four counts of resisting an officer and one count of battery on an officer. during his brief appearance at the solano county courthouse yesterday, hall pleaded not guilty to all charges. his bail remains at 7-thousand dollars this morning. this is hall's second run-in with officers in less than a month. the d-a says on february 20th... he was arrested for resisting a police officer and trespassing. vallejo police are now investigating whether the officer seen beating hall with a flashlight used excessive force during his arrest on friday. ( darya ) the remains of a woman from penngrove who went missing over two years ago have been discovered. 63-year-old annie bailly vanished in december of 20-14.

her body was found last month near point reyes, and her death is considered a homicide. bailly and her estranged husband, kerry, had been married for 18 years and were going through a divorce, but lived in the same home. the day kerry reported her missing, her car, keys and purse were still at home. kerry says he had nothing to do with her death. he believes she committed suicide, saying that she has tried in the past. ( mark ) veteran firefighters say they've neevr seen anything like it. a man, trapped in a restaurant wall in napa. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron four morning news. you can see the tight little area where he was found... without his clothes on. this is at the togo's in napa. firefighters had to remove part of a wall to get him out of a narrow ventalation shaft. he was stuck in there overnight, after entering an access door on the roof. just after 8:00 yesterday morning, some people finally heard shouting and cries for help.

investigators believe that 48- year-old robert turbidy lowered himself into an 18-inch crawl space using a make-shift rope. at some point the rope broke....and he was wedged in there for about 8 hours. he was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. he's been booked into jail on suspicion of burglary and violating his probation. ( darya ) in the east bay... oakland's embattled fire chief teresa deloach- reed is retiring. oakland's first african- american female fire chief signed her retirement papers yesterday. reed began her career as a firefighter with the city of san jose back in 1986. she was promoted to fire chief in oakland in 2012. and came under fire after the deadly ghost-ship warehouse fire for a lack of inspections. reed will now earn over $160,000 a year in retirement.. from her pensions from san jose and oakland fire.

( darya ) in the south bay... the murder trial of suspected killer, antolin garcia torres continues today. in addition to being charged with murdering morgan hill teen sierra lamar, he is also accused of attempting to kidnap three women. one of those women took the stand yesterday. in her testimony, she said a man jumped in the back seat of her car, used a stun gun to shock her and punched her. the attack happened at a safeway in morgan hil in 2009. she never saw the attacker's face, and did not identify garcia torres in a photo line up. but police did find garia- torres' thumbprint on the stun gun. tomorrow marks the five-year anniversary of sierra lamar's disappearance. ( mark ) police arrest a woman they say abandoned her two-year-old daughter at a store in riverside. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron four news at six. the 31-year-old was arrested yesterday afternoon at a bank after a teller recognized her from news reports. she was caught on surveillance video leaving her daughter at a

four viewer... the animal was seen swimming near an irrigation canal yesterday morning in vacaville. the marine mammal center in sausalito were called in to investigate, but the sea lion climbed into a drainage pipe just before they arrived. the mamal center team called it a day after several hours of trying to get the sea lion out. officials say they believe he is still in there. ( darya ) officials say the sea lion may have been swimming up the sacramento river and made a wrong turn into a waterway. the pipe that animal is stuck in is about 12 miles long. ( will ) police say the man is considered armed and dangerous... and he remains on the loose this morning. this all started yesterday evening when fremont police officers found a car in hayward that was connected to several armed robberies throughout the bay area. the detectives attempted to stop the van at the city view apartment complex near the cal state east bay campus. the driver of the van then suddenly drove into the police cars, injuring two fremont police detectives. the officers opened fire, and hit and killed the driver. two passengers were arrested at the scene, but one man ran away. police say he is

are dead following that major winter strom that hit the east coast. millions of people are still being impacted this morning as they dig out and airports scramble to get stranded passengers back on their flights... and i just got word minutes ago that more than a thousand flights have been canceled this morning. the powerful nor'easter paralyzed much of the washington-to-boston corridor, but fell short of predicted snowfall totals in new york, boston and philadelphia. this was the scene in boston... the heavy snow making for dangerous conditions on the roads. two-thousand national guard troops have been activated across the east coast to help with relief efforts. drivers had to be rescued after their cars got stuck in the flooding. one person living in the area said this is one of the worst storms he has seen in the 55 years he has lived in atlantic city. ( anny ) and in baltimore streets were covered in snow and fallen trees. most places in maryland saw between 8 and 12 inches of snow. but the storm did knock over some trees which damaged cars that were parked along the streets. city officials say crews worked through the night to prepare the roads for this morning. ( anny ) the storm, which followed a stretch of unusually mild weather, dumped 1 to 2 feet in many places, grounded more than 6,000 flights and knocked out power to nearly a quarter-million customers from virginia northward. plunging overnight temperatures are now turning the snow, sleet and sloppy mix into a slippery mess. ( darya ) a man suspected in two sex assaults in palo alto includling one at a cal-train station is under arrest. the san mateo county sheriff's office says 26-year-old george moubarak turned himself in. they say moubarak saw the sketches on television and social media and showed up at the palo alto police department. investigators say besides the caltrain assault, moubarak is suspected in an attack in downtown palo alto.
