( james ) another big story we are following this moring... within the last hour, a federal judge in maryland has temporarily blocked the 90-day ban on immigration for citizens of six countries in president trump's executive order. this comes less than 24 hours after a federal judge in hawaii issued a temporary restraining order nationwide. all of this comes just hours before the ban was supposed to take effect.(robin) the move allows people from six muslim majority countries, including refugees to continue traveling to the united states with their current visas. after the original ban's defeat, the trump administration took more than a month to rewrite the current executive order. but the judge in hawaii said in his 43-page ruling that the new order is still effectively a muslim ban and religious

discrimination. president trump argues the ban is necessary to protect the united states. (robin) federal judges iné washington state are also hearing challenges to the travel ban. it's unclear if this ruling will affect those cases. ( james ) and california is one of 13 states that have said they support the decision to file suit to block the travel ban. this news comes as several other issues are heating up in washington. among them, healthcare. (robin) a growing number of republican leaders in congress are joining democrats in the effort to get rid of the new bill. lindsey graham says it has no chance of passing in the senate. and house speaker paul ryan, the most high profile supporter of the bill, wouldn't answer questions when asked if it would pass in the

( james ) there's also the wire-tapping issues. the presdient and his team have been unable to prove mister trump's tweet claim that former president obama wiretapped trump towe last year. yesterday, the republican chairman of the house intelligence committee, california republican devin nunes, said there's no evidence that he's seen to support a wire-tapping claim. he doesn't thingk it happened. speaker ryan says he hasn't seen any evidence either. attorney general jeff sessions said the same as well. fbi director james comey is due to testify publicly nex monday. ( james ) a vigil held for a teen girl who was shot and killed by an undercover police in hayward. family members have identified her as 16-year-old elena mondragon from antioch.(robin) kron 4's j-r stone tell us what happened and talked to friends and family who are mourning her death

woman who was in the car says that she didn't know it was an officers who was shooting at them. to see her full interview you can go to our web site. kron 4 dot com. ( james ) happening today... the family of a man who was killed by two napa police officers.. will be speaking out... they have concerns about what really happened in the shooting. the shooting happened monday when two officers shot and killed a man across the street from a home depot store. napa police say 23-year-old noel russell was armed with a large knife and was acting irratically when the officers got there. both officers fired their guns and russell died at the scene. the two police officers are on paid administrative leave, and their names have not been released at this time. (robin) in the east bay... a tense stand off with police officers. it all started with a police chase in oakland and came to a violent stop in berkeley with a three car crash and a standoff that lasted for more than an hour. kron4's alecia reid has the

details on how police managed to bring this to an end. that suspect was taken into custody within the last hour. very scary evening here in berkely.we can go straight to the video where you can see the suspect in handcuffs before being taken off to jail. the chase all started in oakland around 7 - o clock tonight near 14th nd harrison. during the pursuit police say the suspect rammed his vehice into an officer's car.the suspect kept going and ended up in berkeleywhere he crashed into 2 other vehicles at the college and ashby intersection.the suspect then got out, ran inside a building and made his way to the roof. during that encounter police urged people in the area to stay away from the intersection.just before 9- oclock he was apprehended. people in the area have been on edge all evening.one woman who was involved in the crash is still frazzled. we spoke with her husband.it's not clear what caused the initial pursuit, but the officer whose car was damaged suffered minor injuries.reporting from berkeley alecia reid. kron 4 news.

( james ) there have been three deadly police shootings in the bay area in the last week. last thursday, santa clara police shot and killed this man. identified as jesus alberto geney montes. pictures and flowers to his grieving parents...jesus geney montes was killed by police last thursday in santa clara. attorneys advised parents not to talk with media...but marina hayes, a close friend of the family says they are in shock."i still, we can not beleive that why did this happen. when i came here his mom told me, i called the police for help not for them to kill my son."police were called to his apartments on deborah drive after a report that geney montes had cut himself in the chest with a knife.when officers arrived they said he fled out of a bedroom window.officers say geney threatened to shoot the officers and himself and refuse medical aid.officers say they used a stun gun but they say it was ineffective. police then say geney montes refused to show his hands and moved toward and that when they shot and killed him."we are devastated, this is something that should not have happened."jesus immigrated to

(robin) in california news... state senate members held a hearing for suggestions on how to prevent another 'ghost ship' fire. 36 people were killed on december second when a warehouse that was being illegally used as a housing unit, caught fire. senators made it clear that this risk goes way beyond oakland. they say there are hundreds, even thousands of similar and unpermitted 'live-work' spaces across

california.. state lawmakers considered the issue for the first time in sacramento. and are trying to identify obstacles and possible reforms in making buildings safer and up to fire codes. a working group will be studying the issue and will have a report later this year with ns. (robin) an investigation is underway into an act of vandalism at u-c hastings college of the law in san francisco.( james ) kron4's hermela aregawi spoke to campus officials about what they are doing to make students feel safe. a message of hatea uc hastings student came back from spring break monday to find the mezuzah - a jewish symbol on his door -- had been burned off.tonight - campus police are looking for the person responsible for the vandalism.. and are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.students and faculty say they're surprised that this would happen here.sot alex a.g. shapiro, spokesman, uc hastings college of law

( james ) in the south bay... teachers and staff are being required to undergo training to identify sexual predators.(robin) the training was ordered as part of a civil suit judgement handed down earlier this week against the morgan hill unified school district. the civil suit follows the arrest in 2014 of this man. 53 year old john arthur loyd, of hollister. he's now in state prison.( james ) loyd was convicted of molesting three young girls at paradise elementary school in morgan hill, where he taught the 5th grade. loyd is now serving a 40 year sentence in state prison. the plaintiffs in the case were award $8.25 million dollars. ( james ) in the east bay. . . a stomach flu outbreak sickens dozens of children at an elementary

school. and one of those cases is now being confirmed to be norovirus. officials say that is an even more severe version of the stomach flu. it all began friday when a bunch of 5th graders at dublin elementary started getting sick at school. a troop of custodial workers swept through the school over the weekend, cleaning as many surfaces as possible. the department of health has been checking on their progress. but school officials say, students are still missing

officer punching and hitting a suspect during an arrest has some questioning the use of force.(robin) and now, the officer involved in the video has been identified. only on kron four -- we talked to the wife of a man who says he too was attacked by the same police officer. as kron4's dan kerman reports, that man has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. vallejo police say the officer seen in this video is spencer bottomley a former marine, who the city's website says has been on the force since 2015 bottomley's use of force to take suspect dejuan hall into custody on friday has been called into question since the video went viral.sot they are given badges, with the authority to protect and serve not with the authority to beat and bullythis is the wife of derrick shields.. she preferred not to show her face in october her husband filed this federal civil rights lawsuit against the

chase in oakland ends with a three car crash in berkeley. the chase started around 7:00 last night near 14th and harrison in oakland. during the chase... police say the man rammed his car into a police car and then took off. the chase ended in berkeley when the man crashed into two other cars at the intersection of college and ashby avenues. after the crash the man ran inside a building and made his way to the roof where he stayed until police were able to arrest him around 9:00 last night. it is not clear what led up to the chase but the officer who's car was hit did suffer minor injuries. ( mark ) a standoff in the east bay is now over after a man leads police on a chase from oakland to berkeley. james fletcher is at the breaking news desk with more on what led to the chase ( james ) one officer was injured at the start of the chase which ended with a three car crash in berkeley. this is video from the scene. police have taken the driver into custody. the chase started around 7:00 last night near 14th and harrison in oakland. during the chase... police say the man rammed his car into a police car and then took off. the chase ended in berkeley when the man crashed into two other cars at the intersection of college and ashby avenues. after the crash the man ran

( darya ) a warning for parents this morning.... albany police say a man tried to lure a 9th grade boy into his car as the boy was walking home from school. it happened tuesday on washington street near albany high school. officers say a brown four- door, older model car approached the teen. the driver tried to engage the boy by asking him questions.

getting sick at school. a group of custodial workers went through the school over the weekend cleaning the classrooms. the department of health has been checking on their progress. more desks and floors were being cleaned yesterday. district officials say they have seen more absences than normal this week. they are asking parents to keep their children at home if they have flu-like symptoms and keep them home for 48 hours after the symptoms are gone. ( mark ) the city of vacaville is being hit with a lawsuit over contaminated water. an environmental group filed the federal lawsuit this week at the u-s district court in sacramento. in the lawsuit the group called, "california river watch", sued the city of vacaville over the amount of a naturally occurring toxic chemicals in the groundwater... that is used inside homes. this is the same toxin that sickened people in southern california and was later depicted in the movie "erin brockovich." the city has not commented on the lawsuit. ( mark ) teachers and staff in a south bay school

district ... are being required to undergo training to identify sexual predators. the training was ordered as part of a civil lawsuit judgement that was handed down this week against the morgan hill unified school district. the civil suit follows the arrest in 2014 of 53-year-old john arthur loyd, of hollister, who is now in state prison. loyd was convicted of molesting three young girls at paradise elementary school in morgan hill, where he taught the 5th grade. < the essence of the case is to make the system better to protect children from predators. i wouldn't say there was any balking by the district on this per se except that this is a unique case, it goes beyond the money and to our clients it was very important clear to the district...'>( mark ) loyd is now serving a 40 year sentence in state prison. his victims were also award more than 8 million dollars as a part of the settlement. ( darya ) members of the state senate are vowing to take action to prevent another fire like the deadly oakland warehouse fire. 36 people were killed back on december

second... when the 'ghost ship' warehouse caught fire. members of the state senate are worried it could happen again. lawmakers say there are hundreds of similar 'live-work' spaces across california.. they are considering reforms to help make those buildings safer and bring them up to code. a group will be studying the issue and will have a report later this year. ( darya ) lake del valle park near livermore is closed this morning. park officials are still trying to cleanup after major flooding last month. the lake level has finally receded to it's normal level but the flooding damaged several trails. maintenance crews are trying to clear the huge piles of debris that need to be cleaned up before the park can be opened. park officials are hoping to reopen the park by mid-april. ( mark ) happening now in vacaville. a sea lion named "mr.leisure" is making his way out of a canal and back toward the sacramento river. marine mammal experts were working to rescue the young sea lion from the canal... but say, he may free himself.

the male sea lion was first spotted swimming near the irrigation canal tuesday morning. crews believe he traveled up the sacramento river, took a wrong turn and followed a series of waterways to reach the canal. they are now monitoring the sea lion's progress. officials say "mr leisure" is in good health, and appears to be enjoying his adventure. a local 14 year old boy helped with the naming... he said he saw the sea lion enjoying a leisurely stroll down the creek...stopping to sun bathe at times. the sea lion was also found near leisure town road. his babysitter was on hold with 9-1-1 for 30 minutes.( mark ) bridget alex was at a funeral on saturday when her babysitter called. the babysitter said the boy named brandon fell and wouldn't wake up.( darya ) the sitter called 9-1-1 three times...but never got through. the mom says when the sitter finally got through, she was on hold for 30 minutes.( mark ) the city of dallas says this is part of a problem they are having with t-mobile. the city says if a t-mobile customer calls 9-1-1, it keeps dialing several times. the calls are registered as hang-ups. dispatchers then have to call them back and see if there is an emergency. ( darya ) the night brandon died, the city of dallas reports the average hold time was between 30 to 40 minutes. dallas' mayor has criticized t-mobile for the death. t-mobile says it is

( mark ) vallejo police have now identified the officer seen in a video hitting a suspect during an arrest. officer spencer bottomley has been criticized for his use of force since the video was released. this is not the first time bottomley has been accused of excessive force. last year...a man named derrick shields filed a federal lawsuit against bottomley and four other officers. derrick's wife says the officers beat up her husband: ( mark ) that case is still making its way through the courts. officer bottomley is a former marine who has been on the vallejo police force since 2015. ( darya ) sheriff's deputies have identified the man who was killed after being involved in a violent fight in san leandro. this is a story we have been following for you all week. police say 41-year-old don castillo was killed inside his home monday afternoon. officers originally responded to reports of a fight on selborne drive. when they arrived, officers say they

found a pool of blood near the front door of the home. they entered the home and found castillo who they say was shot and stabbed. the killer is still on the loose. police still do not know what led up to the killing. ( darya ) in the north bay... a bank teller is behind bars after police say, he helped a robber pull off a heist. the robbery happened on friday at the west america bank in san rafael. investigators say phone logs showed that the teller and the thief had numerous conversations in the days leading up to the robbery. as for the robber, police say he was arrested the next day during a sting operation. an officer spotted the man making what appeared to be a drug deal and took him into custody. ( mark ) president trump is opening up about his tweet earlier this month accusing president obama of having his "wires tapped" at trump tower. james fletcher is following the latest from the breaking news desk. james. ( darya ) tiburon police are investigating an assault involving nationally syndicated radio host michael savage. it happened tuesday night on main street. police say savage and another man got into a scuffle. when officers arrived they say both men wanted police to place the other under arrest for battery. it is not clear what sparked the argument. savage is known for being a strong supporter of president trump. ( mark ) covering california... a robbery inside a dollar general in fresno county. and the incident...was caught on store surveillance cameras. take a look. you can see an armed man walk in and hide in the back storage room until the store closes for the night. he comes out of hiding and when one of the two workers passes by while cleaning up, he points a gun at her. he orders her to fill a bag with cash from the register and safe -- and takes off with it. neither

( mark ) a standoff in the east bay is now over after a man leads police on a chase from oakland to berkeley. james fletcher is at the breaking news desk with more on what led to the chase ( james ) it's story with a number of twists and turns. it started with a police officer getting injured... and ended with a three car pileup in berkeley. this is video from the scene. the chase started around 7:00 last night near 14th and harrison in oakland. and right at the start, police say the man they were chasing rammed a patrol car... injuring the officer inside. the suspect kept driving. the chase ultimately ended in berkeley when the man crashed into two cars at the intersection of college and ashby avenues. but it didn't stop there. the suspect then jumped out of

his car and ran inside a nearby building and made his way to the roof. that's where police finally arrested him after a standoff that lasted until around 9:00 last night. we're still working to find out what sparked the chase in the first place. but we do know the officer who was hurt suffered minor injuries... and is expected to be okay. ( will ) 16-year-old elena "ebby" mondragon is from antioch... this is video as friends and family gathered for a vigil last night. ebby was shot and killed by officers with the fremont police department in hayward on tuesday night. police say the car she was in was believed to have been used in several recent armed robberies. officer opened fire when the driver of the car rammed into detectives. friends and family say ebby was not a criminal and shouldn't have been killed.

is video of a memorial that is growing outside of his home this morning. police were called to his apartment on deborah drive after a report that he had barricaded himself inside. officers say montes threatened to shoot them... and when he started moving towards them they opened fire. a family friend says they are in shock. his car as the boy was walking home from school. it happened tuesday on washington street near albany high school. officers say a brown four- door, older model car approached the teen. the driver tried to engage the boy by asking him questions. when the driver asked if the boy needed a ride home...the boy ran away and called police. ( mark ) happening now... campus police are looking for the person responsible for an act of vandalism at u-c hastings college of law in san francisco. a student came back from spring break on monday to find that someone had partially burned their mezuzah, which is a jewish symbol mounted on their doorframe. campus police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. students say they are surprised that this would happen on campus.

like this ive heard of while ive been here>( mark ) the school's dean sent a statement to students and staff yesterday calling the act cowardly and deeply troubling. campus police say once the investigation is complete, the will look into additional steps they can take to prevent something like this from happening again. ( mark ) teachers and staff in a south bay school district ... are being required to undergo training to identify sexual predators. the training was ordered as part of a civil lawsuit judgement that was handed down this week against the morgan hill unified school district. the civil suit follows the arrest in 2014 of 53-year-old john arthur loyd, of hollister, who is now in state prison. loyd was convicted of molesting three young girls at paradise elementary school in morgan hill, where he taught the 5th grade. < the essence of the case is to make the system better to protect children from predators. i wouldn't say there was any balking by the district on this per se except that this is a unique case, it goes beyond the money and to our clients it was very important that this be made clear to the district...'>( mark ) loyd is now serving

( mark ) in the east bay. . . a stomach flu outbreak sickens dozens of children at an elementary school and at least one student is diagnosed with norovirus. it began friday when a group of 5th graders at dublin elementary started getting sick at school. a group of custodial workers went through the school over the weekend cleaning the classrooms. the department of health has been checking on their progress. more desks and floors were being cleaned yesterday. district officials say they have seen more absences than normal this week. they are asking parents to keep their children at home if they have flu-like symptoms and keep them home for 48 hours after the symptoms are gone. ( mark ) the city of vacaville is being hit with a lawsuit over contaminated water. an environmental

group filed the federal lawsuit this week in u-s district court in sacramento. in the lawsuit, the "california river watch", sued the city of vacaville over the amount of a naturally occurring toxic chemicals in the groundwater... chromium-6 this is the same toxin that sickened people in southern california and was later depicted in the movie "erin brockovich." the city has not commented on the lawsuit. ( darya ) happening now... police are looking for a man who stole from a home depot in concord. police did not say when this happened, but they just released these pictures last night. police say the man stole an expensive gas-powered saw from the home depot on meridian park boulevard. ( darya ) the former mayor of stockton is now out of jail after being taken into custody at s-f-o. anthony silva was released from the san joaquin valley jail yesterday.

he was in jail for 10 days on charges of grand theft, embezzlement and money laundering. the charges stem from his job at the "stockton boys and girls club." after being released, silva did not talk about the pending investigation, but he did comment on his role in the "boys and girls club." ( darya ) silva said he is not guilty of the charges he is now facing. now that he is out of jail...silva says he will do everything he can to clear ( mark ) members of the state senate are vowing to take action to prevent another fire like the deadly oakland warehouse fire. 36 people were killed back on december second... when the 'ghost ship' warehouse caught fire. members of the state senate are worried it could happen again. lawmakers say there are hundreds of similar 'live-work' spaces across california.. they are considering reforms to help make those buildings safer and bring them up to code. a

been following for you all week. police say 41-year-old don castillo was killed inside his home monday afternoon. officers originally responded to reports of a fight on selborne drive. when they arrived, officers say they found a pool of blood near the front door of the home. they entered the home and found castillo who they say was shot and stabbed. the killer is still on the loose. police still do not know the killing. ( mark ) in the north bay... a bank teller is behind bars after police say, he helped a robber pull off a heist. the robbery happened on friday at the west america bank in san rafael. investigators say phone logs showed that the teller and the thief had numerous conversations in the days leading up to the robbery. as for the robber, police say he was arrested the next day during a sting operation. an officer spotted the man making what appeared to be a drug deal and took him into custody. ( mark ) today marks the five year anniversary since morgan hill teenager sierra lamar disappeared. she was last seen on her way to school back on march 16, 2012.

( mark ) a man accused of shooting two police officers in detroit is now in custody following a massive manhunt overnight. following a drug raid, one officer was shot in the neck and the other in the leg. police arrested raymond durham for the shooting. the two officers are expected to survive their injuries. ( darya ) happening now in vacaville. a sea lion named "mr.leisure" is making his way out of a canal and back toward the sacramento river. marine mammal experts were working to rescue the young sea lion from the canal... but say, he may free himself. the male sea lion was first spotted swimming near the irrigation canal tuesday morning. crews believe he traveled up the sacramento river, took a wrong turn and followed a series of waterways to reach the canal. they are now monitoring the sea lion's progress. officials say "mr leisure" is in good health, and appears to be enjoying his adventure.
