( james ) our top story this morning. people in san jose are still reeling from the effects of the last series of storms that helped to cause major flooding in the city. kron four's lydia pantazes shows us what some are doing to prevent what happened last time from happening again. it's been nearly a month since the flooding here....people here are still trying to clean up.take a look at all the trash on the street behind me. as people try and pick up the pieces there's news of another storm.although the first round of storms early in the week isn't as expected to have the same impact in this area
4:05 am
people who live here are still afraid.we talked to a woman who lived in an rv parked in the rockspring neighborhood. she lost everything in the recent flooding."so yeah, were scared, looks like a bombshell hit this this place and now what's it gonna look like next. i'm hoping for the best and that you know nothing else happens but hopefully we get a warning this time."what people here are really worried about is the storm on friday which is expected to be heavier.but that's still a ways out and that could change.reporting live in san jose, lydia pantazes kron4 news. ( james ) in the east bay. people in clayton are bracing for this next round of rain as they are still dealing with the damage from previous storms. morgan territory road has been closed for about a month now because of a landslide. people are forced to go a quarter of a mile on foot to bring basic needs like water and gas to their homes. people in the area say improvements by the county have slowed down since the slide has cleared. one woman impacted by the road closure had to give up
4:06 am
her job. ( james ) part of the road reopened yesterday afternoon for people to run errands before this next round of rain. it is now closed again this morning. ( james ) it's arguably one of the most iconic moments in football history - "the catch"... 49ers' legend dwight clark making that game winning touch down pass from joe montana during the 1981 n-f-c playoff game against the dallas cowboys. clark announced sunday that he has been
4:07 am
diagnosed with a-l-s. clark broke the news online saying he was diagnosed with the neuromuscular condition back in 20-15. the life expectancy of someone diagnosed with a-l-s is usually two to five years but in his blog clark says the condition appears to have a slower progression in him. a-l-s is also known as lou gehrig's disease. clark, who has the third most receiving yards in 49ers history, says he noticed weakness in his left hand. he is now unable to run, walk any significant distance or play golf. ( james ) the c-e-o of the 49ers spoke out about the announcement. jed york said: "i was deeply saddened to learn of dwight's recent diagnosis...our organization is fortunate to know him more intimately as a wonderful man who has given so much of himself as an ambassador to the entire bay area. we will stand alongside dwight and his family as they wage this battle." ( james ) a big story we

4:21 am
oakland international airport hosted more than 2 dozen of puppies sunday. but it wasn't all fun and games. these puppies are training to be guide dogs for people with visual impairments. i talked with one woman who depends on her four-legged friend named willz every single day."it's absolutely vital to me to be out and about and be able to contribute to the community and so getting willz really opened that door for me."as a part of their extensive training... guide dogs for the blind teaches these pups-in- training how to go through tsa security checkpoints, how to board plane and help their owners retrieve their baggage. "having the independence to be able to board a plane on their own they don't need assistance because the dog is guiding them in there, they are going to kennel underneath your seat and they're going to be free sometimes for the first time." its simple tasks like traveling those without visual impairments can take for granted. "this is willz. he's 4 years old and guide dogs like him go through nearly 2 years of training be able to help the visually impaired." guide dog owners are grateful
4:22 am
for the assistance and even the conversation starter their guide dogs can create. "because he's so cute people come up to me and talk to me so if i'm not sure what gate i'm supposed to be at i'll say, 'hey do you know where the seattle flight is going out of?' so it's also a great way to bridge the gap between the community and myself." these pups are one step closer to providing much needed help for the visually impaired. in oakland, averi harper, kron 4 news.
