the victim was still bloody from this morning's attack when i talked to her in her hospital room.she was being treated for a head injury....that required her to get six stitches....the stockbroker.got on the train here at the fremont station....and says she was reading a magazine headed to her job in san francisco's financial district when she says she saw an agitated man walk by her....and then she was attacked. she didn't remember what happened....sayi ng she blacked out. but bart police say the victim was kicked by the suspect...which slammed her into the side of the train. the suspect got off the train at the colesium station in oakland....where he was arrested. she got off the train at fruitvale and sought medical aide. this picture shows her raincoat covered with blood from the attack. some bart riders say they are surprised by this incident...others say more security is needed.that's a horrible thing it's not something you expect to happen on the train but clearly and every once in a while there is some police activity in

four vehicles involved in the collision. police say one driver was getting out of his car when he was struck by another vehicle. that man was pronounced dead at the scene. authorities say another man was discovered under a vehicle. he was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. the cause of the collision is under investigation. (grant) these last few storms are not the gully-washers we've seen across the region this winter... but rain from the recent smaller storms are adding up.... perhaps nowhere more so than in the santa cruz mountains. kron four's rob fladeboe is in boulder creek, which is approaching record territory. rob? here in boulder creek some of the locals think in terms of feet not inches when theytalk about annual rainfall. so far this year, boulder creek has received just shy of seven and a half feet of rain and the rainy season has another month or so to go.

(vicki) another big story we are tracking tonight at five... there's a troubling new warning tonight about the oroville dam spillway....still being repaired after significant damage..(grant) catherine heenan is here with details of what they're saying about the repair time-line.. (catherine) a team of experts is warning of a "very significant risk" if the main spillwayis not up and running again by the next rainy season... it's part of a report written by the federally-created investigating team for the oroville dam.it says that repair crews at the lake oroville dam have only a few months to make sure the spillwayis in good enough shape for the next rainy season -- which begins in november. the experts say it's 'absolutely critical' that water doesn't flow the dam's earthen spillway this spring...which could cause more erosion. and aside from the quick fixes -- they suggest the long-term repairs could continue for two years... authorities evacuated nearly 200-thousand people

last month....after huge holes appearedin both the main spillway and the emergency spillway... and they're worried the hole in the main spillway could get bigger.. repair crews have been on the scene almost non-stop since the problems developed.. (glo)in santa rosa. .. a driver flees the scene. . . after his car plunges into colgan creek while two other people are inside.the incident happened at around 9-30 last night. . . crews responded to colgan and santa rosa avenues.

they found a vehicle that had crashed through a fence. .. before plunging into the water. the current took it about 200-feet west. . . police say officers contacted the two people inside.they were able to get out of the car. . . and suffered non life-threatening injuries.officers are investigating to gain the identity of the driver.he is described as a black man in his early 20's. (grant) yesterday was a frightening day for students and staff at king city high school in monterey county. authorities say around 11 a-m... one student was shot while sitting in his car just off campus. the school was put on lockdown for hours. police have released this image of the shooter. witnesses say he jumped a school fence and ran away. officials say that student who was shot will be fine. the around six p-m... authorities say three students were gunned down at the silver saddle motel... just around the corner from the high school. authorities say one is in critical condition.

school officials say those three are not students at king city high school. police say the two shootings may be related and both have gang undertones. the woman is facing desertion and child endangerment charges. the child is in protective custody. (pam) that's after.... what police are calling a random attack. good evening i'm pam moore.(steve) and i'm steve aveson. kron4's maureen talked to the 73 year old victim in her hospital room. it's a story you'll see only on 4. this picture shows the victim's raincoat covered with blood from the attack. she didn't want to appear on camera....i talked to her at highland hospital where she was being treated for a head injury.... given 6 stitches and waiting for the results of a cat scan.this all started when she got on the train here at the fremont station sometime after 430 this morning. the 73 year old stock trader was sitting on the train reading a magazine. she says she noticed an agitated man walk by here....it was after that the attack happened. she says she blacked out. bart police say she was kicked by the suspect ....who's been identified as wilbert wallace....he was arrested after getting off the train at the colesium station and is being booked for assault

causing great bodily harm.the victim says she's never been afraid to ride bart but she's noticed on those early morning rides that there are a lot of homeless people using the trains for a warm place to sleep. other riders i talked to say they've seen it too.you know i've noticed it over appeared of time occasionally i see homeless people sleeping in one of the cars occasionally once or twice i've seen police come in and move them out there was one on this train obviously this is something going on security is sparsethe victim says she's still going to ride bart....but she did think more security is needed, saying in the 20 years she's ridden bart she has never seen a bart police officer on the train. bart says the do have a squad of officers based in san francisco who ride the train sometimes but with so many stations and hundreds of miles of track all over the bay area...those officers need to be able to quickly get to where ever they are needed...and that can't happen if they are stuck on the trains during a crisis.maureen kelly kron4 news

following tonight is the oroville dam crisis. a new report is raising alarms about what could happen if the spillway is not fixed in a timely manner. a team of experts says there is a "very significant risk" if it is not working by the next rainy season... which is november. that would give crews only a few months to get their repairs done and then make sure the spillway is functioning correctly. as for what exactly the risk is... the report did not speculate. you may recall nearly 200-thousand people had to evacuate after a gaping hole appeared in main spillway... and there were concerns the emergency spillway could fail as well. if that would have happened... a torrent of water would have been unleashed possibly as high 30 feet.... potentially swamping communities along the feather river.( steve ) governor brown has asked for federal assistance in dealing with the oroville dam repairs. the price tag has put as high as

200-million dollars to make all the necessary fixes. pam. (pam) it looks like another one of president trumps executive orders is poised for the courts. today, the city of richmond sued the president... over an order that threatens to pull federal funds from cities which refuse to enforce federal immigration policy. kron 4's dan kerman is live at richmond city hall.. dan - there's a lot of money at stake, right?
