witness: at least 10, 12 bodies the driver then crashed into the fence outside the houses of parliament.he then jumped out with a pair of knives and attacked an armed police officer, stabbing him mutiple times before other officers could respond.nat three gunshots. the next, of course, was chaos.nata member of parliament tried to give mouth to mouth resucitation to the mortally wounded officer. emts from a medivac helicopter were unable to save his life. the attacker died after being taken to a hospital.he has not been identified.natback on the bridge, a scene of carnage. people rushed to help the injured ... some of them beyond help.nat.at least 20 people were hurt, some critically..one woman was pulled out of the river with serious injuries.police and ambulances flooded the scene ... mark rowley / acting deputy commissioner of the met police: whilst we currently believe there was only one attacker, i'm sure the public will understand us taking

(vicki) now to a story you will only see on kron four news... a seventy three year old woman was the victim of a random attack on bart this morning that sent her to the hospital. kron4's maureen kelly talked to the victim.... and brings us her story.

the victim was still bloody from this morning's attack when i talked to her in her hospital room.she was being treated for a head injury....that required her to get six stitches....the stockbroker.got on the train here at the fremont station....and says she was reading a magazine headed to her job in san francisco's financial district when she says she saw an agitated man walk by her....and then she was attacked. she didn't remember what happened....sayi ng she blacked out. but bart police say the victim was kicked by the suspect...which slammed her into the side of the train. the suspect got off the train at the colesium station in oakland....where he was arrested. she got off the train at fruitvale and sought medical aide. this picture shows her raincoat covered with blood from the attack. some bart riders say they are surprised by this incident...others say more security is needed.that's a horrible thing it's not something you expect to happen on the train but clearly and every once in a while there is some police activity in

(grant) there are new revelations today - that president trump's personal communitcations ámay have been collected. republican house intelligence chairman devin nunes, a congressman from the central valley...says it's possible president trump and his transition team's personal communications were picked up through quote "incidental collection" -- during government surveillance after the november election. at a news conference today, nunes said he discovered the potential surveillance of trump himself while reviewing intelligence reports. nunes did not know whether the "incidental collection" happened at trump tower, and could not say for certain whether president trump's communications were directly collected. the president says he feels somewhat vindicated after hearing today's revelation. rep. devin nunes/(r) house intelligence committee chairman: "because what i saw has nothing to do with russia and nothing to do with the russian investigation. has everything to do with possible surveillance activities and the president needs to know these intelligence reports are

(vicki) this week's rain causing major problems for commuters this morning... first... a large tree fell in menlo park blocking off a busy intersection. it also took down some power lines knocking out power for some people in the area. this happened at the intersection of marcuseen drive and oak grove avenue... around 9 this morning. crews have removed part of the tree... and one lane has since reopened. (vicki) then in the east bay... an early morning crash in oakland left one dead and another with serious injuries. the collision happened around 4:30 this morning on highway 580 near harrison street. according to authorities... there were

four vehicles involved in the collision. police say one driver was getting out of his car when he was struck by another vehicle. that man was pronounced dead at the scene. authorities say another man was discovered under a vehicle. he was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. the cause of the collision is under investigation. (grant) these last few storms are not the gully-washers we've seen across the region this winter... but rain from the recent smaller storms are adding up.... perhaps nowhere more so than in the santa cruz mountains. kron four's rob fladeboe is in boulder creek, which is approaching record territory. rob? here in boulder creek some of the locals think in terms of feet not inches when theytalk about annual rainfall. so far this year, boulder creek has received just shy of seven and a half feet of rain and the rainy season has another month or so to go.

(grant) get ready to pay more if you or your child attends a california state university... the university board approved the tuition hike for the first time in six years... tuition is going up 270- dollars a year at 23 different campuses. this means undergraduate tuition for the 2017-18 school year will now cost nearly 55-hundred-dollars. some students are pretty upset about it... that's money that could be used for rent. we already pay too much for tuition compared to how little it used to be. people are going into debt." (grant) the reason for the hike... the board says it needs more money to hire more professors, add classes for the growing enrollment, and

supplement the lack of state funding. (vicki) another big story we are tracking tonight at five... there's a troubling new warning tonight about the oroville dam spillway....still being repaired after significant damage..(grant) catherine heenan is here with details of what they're saying about the repair time-line.. (catherine) a team of experts is warning of a "very significant risk" if the main spillwayis not up and running again by the next rainy season... it's part of a report written by the federally-created investigating team for the oroville dam.it says that repair crews at the lake oroville dam have only a few months to make sure the spillwayis in good enough shape for the next rainy season -- which begins in november. the experts say it's 'absolutely critical' that water doesn't flow the dam's earthen spillway this spring...which could cause more erosion. and aside from the quick fixes -- they suggest the long-term repairs could continue for two years... authorities evacuated nearly 200-thousand people

last month....after huge holes appearedin both the main spillway and the emergency spillway... and they're worried the hole in the main spillway could get bigger.. repair crews have been on the scene almost non-stop since the problems developed.. (grant) in the oakland hills... potholes have become such a problem on thorn hill road... that one woman is taking matters into her own hands. linda foust says she was concerned potholes would damage her car... so she took some spray paint and marked white arrows pointing to them. linda's main goal was to stop people from driving over the potholes. but now...she hopes her hard-work will encourgage the city of oakland to fill them. (glo)in santa rosa. .. a driver flees the scene. . . after his car plunges into colgan creek while two other people are inside.the incident happened at around 9-30 last night. . . crews responded to colgan and santa rosa avenues.

they found a vehicle that had crashed through a fence. .. before plunging into the water. the current took it about 200-feet west. . . police say officers contacted the two people inside.they were able to get out of the car. . . and suffered non life-threatening injuries.officers are investigating to gain the identity of the driver.he is described as a black man in his early 20's. (vicki) in the sierra nevada... the fresh powder continues to fall. the first spring storm dropped about a half foot of snow around lake tahoe area. a good thing for resorts... but a tiring sight for locals. residents say keeping a clear path from the road to their home has been a constant task. one resident explained if you don't clear the path after each storm... the snow becomes solid and very difficult to remove. another resident simply gave up. (grant) yesterday was a frightening day for students and staff at king city high school in monterey county. authorities say around 11 a-m... one student was shot while sitting in his car just off campus. the school was put on lockdown for hours. police have released this image of the shooter. witnesses say he jumped a school fence and ran away. officials say that student who was shot will be fine. the around six p-m... authorities say three students were gunned down at the silver saddle motel... just around the corner from the high school. authorities say one is in critical condition.

(vicki) our top story at 5:30... five people killed and 40 others injured after a terror attack outside britain's parliament.... (grant) and it ended with the attacker being shot and killed.(vicki) this attack comes one year after the brussels terror attacks... where 32 people were killed and over 300 others were injured... in subway attacks and suicide bombings at the brussels airport...(grant) here is what we know about today's attack... again five people were killed.... the attacker, a police officer and three civilians... the assailant still has not been identified... but investigators believe they know who he is... and they think islamic extremism is a factor. they say the attacker ran down pedestrians with a suv on westminster bridge and then stabbed an armed police officer to death inside the gates of parliament before being shot and killed by police. white house

republicans' health care overhaul plan comes up for a vote tomorrow...(grant) among the people talking about that today -- president trump and california governor jerry brown... catherine heenan is here with details.. (catherine) it's interesting that today also marks the 7th anniversary of the affordable care act being signed into law......also known as 'obama care.' this was the scene as then-president obama signed the bill.. today....president trump has been trying to persuade some wavering house republicans to support the overhaul plan.. among the democrats rallying 'against' the plan today - california governor jerry brown. in the meantime...president trump continues to insist that 'obama care' simply wasn't working.. president trump - and putting enormous barriers in the paths of patients. we are going to help get this thing done. get

(grant) in southern california... the woman who abandoned her young toddler in a riverside store pleaded not guildty to felony charges yesterday. this is surveillance video of the woman and her two-year-old daughter entering a food-for-less store. authorities say the mother let her daughter wander off in the store. when a person brought the child back to her... the woman said "just leave her." police say the mother then abandoned the girl after paying for the groceries.

the woman is facing desertion and child endangerment charges. the child is in protective custody. (vicki)in southern california. . . a scary situation as a teen girl almost gets abducted while walking to school.take a look at this video. . . a man grabs the girl.she gets away and keeps walking.he then chases her as she takes off running.it happened at around 10-a-m monday morning as the girl walked to francis polytechnic senior high school. witnesses say the man was trying to pull her into his car.the video was all caught in front of one man's home. trt:05 /"to have this happen right in front of your house, especially pretty brazen in broad daylight was pretty shocking. it's probably not his first attempt."detectives searched the neighborhood for more clues.they say this is his getaway car. . . appearing to be a newer model, silver b- m-w with tinted windows. (pam) that's after.... what police are calling a random attack. good evening i'm pam moore.(steve) and i'm steve aveson. kron4's maureen talked to the 73 year old victim in her hospital room. it's a story you'll see only on 4. this picture shows the victim's raincoat covered with blood from the attack. she didn't want to appear on camera....i talked to her at highland hospital where she was being treated for a head injury.... given 6 stitches and waiting for the results of a cat scan.this all started when she got on the train here at the fremont station sometime after 430 this morning. the 73 year old stock trader was sitting on the train reading a magazine. she says she noticed an agitated man walk by here....it was after that the attack happened. she says she blacked out. bart police say she was kicked by the suspect ....who's been identified as wilbert wallace....he was arrested after getting off the train at the colesium station and is being booked for assault

following tonight is the oroville dam crisis. a new report is raising alarms about what could happen if the spillway is not fixed in a timely manner. a team of experts says there is a "very significant risk" if it is not working by the next rainy season... which is november. that would give crews only a few months to get their repairs done and then make sure the spillway is functioning correctly. as for what exactly the risk is... the report did not speculate. you may recall nearly 200-thousand people had to evacuate after a gaping hole appeared in main spillway... and there were concerns the emergency spillway could fail as well. if that would have happened... a torrent of water would have been unleashed possibly as high 30 feet.... potentially swamping communities along the feather river.( steve ) governor brown has asked for federal assistance in dealing with the oroville dam repairs. the price tag has put as high as
