(grant) in campbell... police have arrested a 20- year-old volunteer coach who they say had an ongoing sexual relationship with a student. police say they got info that nathaniel makeeff may be involved in an inapproporate relationship with a student at westmont high school in san jose. investigators arrested makeeff at his home in campbell. detectives are working closely with the school district...but believe this is an isolated incident. (grant) a 70-year-old needed to be rescued this afternoon when his car plunged 100-feet down a cliff in the marin headlands. our helicopter partners with a-b-c 7 news were above the scene. the car was found in a ravine on the valley side of con-zelman road. two people were in the car... one

was able to climb out. fire crews and a c-h-p helicopter came to rescue the 70-year old man stuck inside. he was then taken to the hospital. the extent of his injuries is unknown. investigators are still trying to determine how the car went off the cliff. they say it did not flip or roll over. (vicki) the family of a san francisco woman who died after drinking a herbal tea... is now suing the man who reportedly made the mixture. this as we are learning much more about why the woman drank the tea and what happened right after she had one batch. kron four's terisa estacio has more... including what the person who made the tea has to say about the death. my mother liked to make people happy, jin deng jin deng says his beloved mother - yu-ping xie - here in this picture got sick immediately after drinking the herbal tea she picked up at a popular san francisco chinatown store. deng says - after having just

one batch, his mother ended up in the hospital with doctors recommending amputating her leg in hopes of saving her. jin deng, mother died after drinking herbal tea. we said to my mom that we need to cut off your leg, and she said yes. sadly, deng says the amputation did not help his mother and she died, a few days later. now, he and his family are suing the store where the tea came from and the herbalist, commonly known as dr. chan. natural sound, terisa estacio, "hello, doctor chan, is the doctor in" at the store, no answer. deng says his mother got the tea to boost her immune system. this is the prescription. deng says there are 15 different ingredients including aconite, an herb that he says some herbalist say has medicinal properties but if not procesed properly can be toxic. terisa estacio reporting, the family says its primary reason to sue to make sure others don't suffer what they have, but here in chinatown, there is a different sentiment. lily.

in san jose, city leaders are calling on the community to help with the on-going effort to find housing for people who were displaced when coyote creek flooded.(grant) there was five feet of water in some places. and now one month later - hundreds of people are still without a home. (vicki) kron four's rob fladeboe is standing by live in san jose... with details on what the city as asking for. rob? the city estimates that approximately 500 families, many of them who live here in the hard hit rock springs neighborhood, remain unable to return home because repairs could take months to complete and because of the tight rental market. so the city is calling on landlords to help bridge the gap.

(grant) power has been restored to the nearly 35-hundred p-g-&-e customers in san jose...after an underground vault caught fire. around 6:30 this morning reports of a fire on brush- glen way led them to the vault. in this footage from our helicopter partners with a-b-c 7 news... you can see the entire area was left burned and blackened. fire fighters had to wait for the p-g&e vault to be turned off before they could put out the fire. p-g-&-e was able to restore power to all of the affected customers by 9- o'clock this morning. crews remain on scene to complete repairs to the damaged vault and power pole. (vicki) a man killed in a four-car crash on interstate-580 wednesday morning has been identified as 35-year-old marquez white of oakland. according to police...white was a one of

the drivers involved multi- vehicle crash yesterday morning in oakland. this was westbound 580 near harrison street. authorities say white got out of his vehicle and was fatally struck by another car. he was pronounced dead at the scene. another person was discovered under a vehicle and is being treated for serious injuries at highland hospital in oakland at this time. (vo) a funeral was held today for a teenage girl who died after being shot during a police operation in an east bay city. (vicki) investigators say she was the passenger in a stolen vehicle that was being used as a weapon driving toward officers. (grant)

"oh no"it was a highly emotional day for family and friends of 16-year-old elena "ebbie" mondragon. her funeral was held here thursday at higgins mortuary in antioch miguel minjares/elena's uncle: "we are heart broken. the reality is there is no going back. this is kind of the final day we have with her" back on march 14th elena was in hayward and the passenger in a stolen vehicle.this is video from the scene from our helicopter partnership with abc-t news. hayward police say the driver of that vehicle allegedly rammed into a fremont police vehicle. investigators say she was killed when police opened fire on the car. an autopsy revealed she was two-months pregnant.miguel minjares/elena's uncle: "we are dealing with the loss of our family member and she was young and we're not going to have that time with her. we're not going to be able to do certain things. it's the realization of today that make it all reality and it hurts" ranisha geejn/elena's best

(vicki) authorities in el dorado county say an increase in calls about missing children and adults with autism has led them to set up a registry to help the searches end happily. law enforcement officials have had dozens of calls over the past years just like the one jennifer rush placed when her daughter went missing. her ten year old has autism and was lost in the woods near her home. her mother says...with the help of an autism registry set up in the county in 2005...her daughter was found safe just a short time later. < "that info is immediately accessible and sent out to search and rescue and patrol any special traits."(vicki) lieutenant byers says the autism registry has helped the sheriff's office locate dozens of people with the disorder since it launched. he says minutes and seconds matter when people go missing...and this has helped increase the possibility of bringing them home safe. (grant) today fremont police along with the red cross hosted a blood drive.

this is one of the largest blood drives in alameda county and is held about 3 times a year.. the deapartment has been hosting this for seven years.. and have recruited close to one thousand donors. past month the city has cleared some 4,000 units for re entry while the number of people still living in the overnight shelter is down to 70. miriam, who spoke through a translator, just got a new apartment with the help of catholic charities. miriam/flood victim miriam got lucky. the current apartment vacancy rate in silico valley is about 3 and a half percent. so most of those flood victims who still can't go home or either staying with a relatives or are in hotels. in san jose rob fladeboe kron 4 news (pam ) the anderson

(steve) kron4's maureen kelly was there as police searched the 26 year old's home for evidence. bang bang bangofficers busted down the front door of lee mason eigl's sunset district home this afternoon....later coming out with evidence containers....while they were searching the suspect's mother came home..gail eigl came home to her sunset district home after police had already broken in the front down to serve a search warrant....she says police called her home looking for her son early this morning. we my son got on the phone he said he would drive into taraval station, they were driving in his friend said when they pulled him over. the last news article said it was so he didn't drive away.he was driving into taraval station to talk to them. he was not given a lawyer at any time he was read his miranda but he said he been drinking a little bit and smoking marijuana and he was out of it so they questioned him until the early morning...police say the 26 year old suspect is the man who grabbed a 13 year old girl

off this block of forest side avenue in west portal at around 5pm wednesday who pushed her into his car. she successfully aided in her own rescue by screaming for help and alerted the bystanders and they heard her screaming for help and ran to her aid and actually physically pulled her away from the suspectpolice say witnesses were able to give responding officers descriptions of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving, as well as a partial plate. which is how they were able to make the arrest.eigl's mother was not happy to see the media outside her home....saying that we should reporting on more important matters.one individual who is probably not mentally healthy him i mean i thought he was but obviously if somebody did this i don't know i don't know eigl has been booked into county jail for kidnapping and assault with intent to commit rape oo a person under 18 years of age.maureen kelly kron4 news ( steve ) a man has been arrested

after police say he threatened to shoot a muslim woman at a san francisco park. investigators say the woman was wearing a veil as played with her son. they say last friday... 27-year-old joshua ruano came up to the pair and made the threat. the mother then ran off with her child and called police. officers say they tracked down ruano a short time later. he is charged with a hate crime and other offenses. ruano is due in court next month. (pam) an adult volunteer coach at a south bay high school.... has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual realtionship with a student.. that's according to police. authorities arrested 20-year-old nathaniel makeeff... they were able to gather enough evidence to indicate, he was having an on-going sexual relationship with a student at westmont high school in san jose.

that is where makeeff volunteers as a coach. he was arrested at his home in campbell, and was later booked on charges related to sexual assault on a student.. investigators are working closely with the school... but say they believe this is an isolated incident. (pam) berkeley police arrested a man who they describe as a "prolific" drug dealer ...(pam) 35-year-old anthony beamon was arrested in west oakland on march 16th.. he was reportedly out on more than 700- thousand dollars bail in connection with three different cases.. these are pictures of what police say they found at the time of his arrest.. multiple guns.. a bag full of stolen mac-computers... a large amount of meth- amphetamines and heroin .... along with nearly 4- thousand dollars in cash.. when officers approached beamon they say, he led them on a short chase but he was eventually arrested and taken to jail. (philippe) in recent months... neighbors living in fremont's weibel (why-bell) neighborhood say the typically tranquil community has endured a jolt of unease and trepidation... lynn mittal says her home on parkmeadow drive was recently burglarized. lynn mittal/neighor- "ours happened to be in broad daylight during the day." and, just tuesday night... lynn's neighbor ellen... says a friend down the street was robbed of her gold necklace.ellen a./neighbor- "she's shooken up. she's shooken up." fremont police say two women walking along parkmeadow just before 8- 30 that night... were spooked by a man who popped out of some bushes and posed a question. when the women walked away, the man followed, said he had a gun and tried to grab one of the victims necklace. eventually, one of the women just volunteered her jewelry. the man took it then, ran off.bridge last year, the fremont police department says it investigated at least 25 chain snatch robbery cases. this appears to be the first of 20-17.lynn mittal/neighor- "a lot of south asians do, do wear their jewelry, its part

herbal tea, is now suing the man who reportedly made the mixture. this, as we are learning much more about why the woman drank the tea... and what happened afterward.(take vo) jin deng says, his beloved mother - yu-ping xie - (u ping see) seen in this picture, got sick immediately after drinking the herbal tea she picked up at a popular san francisco chinatown store. deng says - after having just one batch of the tea, his mother had a reaction. (pam) deng says, the doctors ruled out a stroke. her leg was amputated in an attempt to try and save her life, but she died this past saturday. now

bart is hard at work expanding a solar array at an east bay station. crews are putting up more covered parking at the lafayette station. the canopies will serve two purposes. bart says the covered parking will help keep commuters' cars cool during the summer months. the solar panels will reduce bart's footprint and help power the lights, escalators and other items that rely on electricity at the station. lafayette is the first bart station to get solar panels. bart is already going solar at its hayward and richmard maintenance shops. (pam) university of california president janet napolitano plans to cross the border next week. she is set to meet with the u-s ambassador to mexico, as well as students there. she says, her message is one of friendship and that the united states should not isolate its neighbor. napolitano launched the u-c- mexico initiative a couple of years ago. it is a collaboration between mexico and the u-c system's ten campuses.
