over the region. cooler and breezy conditions return on thursday as a cold front sweeps through the region. while a few light rain showers will be possible, most locations will remain dry. the ridge will then rebuild back over the region late in the week resulting in another warming trend heading into the upcoming weekend.

place. it happened around 1:00 this morning on clement and gram street. a four inch diameter, high pressure natural gas line at an oil plant ruptured. flow of gas is now affecting people who live near the area. they are being asked to stay inside their homes and turn off their gas applaicnes. p-g and e crews are working to make the area safe. there is no estimated time of when the gas main break will be fixed. the driver of the car is expected to survive. ( james ) other breaking news... firefighters have contained an apartment fire in concord this morning. these are pictures from the scene. this happened around 12:45 this morning in the 1600 block of clayton road. firefighters were able to put out the single alarm fire within half an hour. no one was injured. the cause of the fire remains unknown this ( james @ bam ) our top

story this morning.. dozens of people who lost everything in a raging fire spent their second night in a shelter. four people died in the fire, which broke out monday in oakland. investigators still haven't determined the cause. kron four's alecia reid shows us the donations are now pouring in for fire victims. pkgsot - this is only gonna last a couple of days so it's going to get even tougher than thisvictims of the san pablo avenue fire are currently lodging at the oakland youth center nearby. red cross has been a staple since monday. families are receiving some aid.sot - i lost everything so the $125 they just gave me helps a littleclothing donations from

the community have been pouring in. sot - i lost everything. everything in my room gone. the whole house gone some folks immediately rummaged through to find anything that could fit. daryle allums / oakland - sot - they don't have no clothes, no hygienes right now so we're here accepting donationsmore than a dozen children were living in the burnt down buiding. now they're cooped inside this center, living in close quarters with their neighbors. etta johnson - sot - this is a hard traumatizing situation there's a lot of anxiety and stress associated with this fire. but survivers are thinking about their neighbors who didn't make it out alive. 64 year old edwarn anderson was well known, and went to a nearby church with a number of his neighbors. he inspired others to do good.roderick jackson - sot - everything we asked him to do he would do for us. he encouraged the youth there to do good work for the house you know.this

deadly blaze comes 4 months after the ghostship fire that killed 3 dozen people. mayor libby schaaf says the city is doing a better job of cracking down on building enforcement. she says firefighters answered a call last month that prompted an inspection on fridaywhere they found defective sprinklers, smoke detectors, and alarms.tagthe mayor says city officials are required to give the owner time to fix those problems. unfortunately a fire broke out days laterkilling 4 people and leaving dozens without a home.reporting live in oakland ( james ) in the east bay... a gunman is on the loose this morning following a shooting in pittsburg. this happened around 6:30 last night... when police responded to reports of a shooting on west street. when they arrived, police found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. she is recovering at a hospital this morning... and is expected to survive. ( james ) also in the east bay. a crime alert in berkley. this after a woman was assaulted on the u-c campus. police are now looking for a man wanted in connection with that sexual assault. this happened last week. the victim says the two were

walking together near bancroft way and college avenue when the man groped the victim. the victim then managed to get away from the attacker without suffering any injuries. ( james ) the n-t-b is blaming california transportation officials for that deadly greyhound bus crash last year on highway 1-0-1 in san jose. this is video from our helicopter parternship with abc 7 news. the new report says the bus was exiting the freeway and because markings were old and worn or missing, the driver thought he was in the exit lane. it turns out he was not and went up a barrier, rolling the bus. the n-t-s-b says the barrier should have been visible, even in the bad weather. they fault the state for not properly marking the roadway. investigators say the bus had seatbelts but only two of the 21 passengers were wearing them. two people died in the crash. 13 others were hurt. ( james ) in the south bay... a recently retired v-t-a driver was found dead in san jose's japantown.

v-t-a officials say he was killed by one of their busses. kron four's j-r stone spoke with co-workers and neighbors who are remembering him this morning. a tough night for many here in this neighborhood. benny cheung was the man who was found dead. i actually broke the news to some of his friends this evening. still many questions as to what happened. was he hit by a vta bus? did he fall off of this bus? was he hit by something else? police looking into all of those possibilities. those who knew him are mourning tonight.sot it's very sad i can't believe it.he was such a good guy in the neighborhood this happened last thursday night at first

and hawthorne in san jose. officers got the call just before 8 that night. they say no witnesses have come forward. benny cheung, who had just retired, leaves behind a family. his work family said he had been employee of the year and employee of the month several times when he was with santa clara valley transportation authority.sot we are mourning his loss. officers are hoping that a witness or someone else will come forward as they try to figure out what went wrong. in milpitas, j.r. stone kron 4 news. officers at the santa clara county jail say an inmate is expected to survive after being jumped and stabbed more than 40-times. the attack happened over the weekend at the main jail while inmates were let out of their cells for recreation in a common area of the prison. in what is said to be a planned attack, two inmates jumped a third one, using hand made weapons made of metal. a deputy inside the room called for back up and used pepper spray but it wasn't enough to break up the fight.

public appearance since losing the election. she was a keynote speaker at a women's conference in san francisco at moscone center. kron four's spencer blake shows us how clinton was received. "hillary clinton's call to action in this giant conference room filled with six thousand people was simply: resist, insist, persist, and enlist.""it is great to be back in san francisco."the professional business women of california's 2017 conference had thousands turn out, and almost all of them showed up to hear from hillary clinton."there is no place i'd rather be than here with youother than the white house."her humor struck a chord with the audience, as did her repeated calls for the advancement of women.speakers before her, like the c-e-o of bank of the west and a 20- year-old from malawi who helped raise the legal marriage age in that country from 15 to 18.were examples of how far women have come.but clinton asserted that there are still barriers. ( james ) a desperate plea from an east bay woman who is searching for several cats which she believes were stolen. and she says...she's not alone. this is happening in oaklay, just east of antioch. missing signs are

plastering neighborhoods... kelly houck ((howk)) says six of her cats are missing, presumed stolen...and in the last several months...more than 20 cats in the neighborhood have disappeared. she says she's lived here for two decades. the cats are fixed, and microchipped. houck ((howk)) says she's a responsible owner and simply wants her cats back. ( james ) houck is the founder of the rescue organization "kitty 9-1-1 east county." the reward is 900 dollars to help get these cats back. ( james ) six men are now facing charges of attempted murder of an orinda school board member. back in september, carol brown was arriving home with her husband when they were attacked.

two masked men allegedly demanded the husband's wallet and pistol- whipped him. he ran to call 9-1-1 and that is when he heard gunshots. his wife carol was shot. the suspects were later arrested along with four other men. in addition to attempted murder, they are also facing charges for other home invasion robberies and burglaries in ( james ) the long process of removing the old eastern span of the bay bridge has finally come to an end. the last visible piece was floated away yesterday. the 19th and final three- hundred-foot steel truss is now gone. caltrans has been working on the demolition since 20-13. they say removing this one wasn't too hard. some of the remaining piers may be used to create a recreational pier that would be located at the eastern anchorage of the new bridge. ( james ) bay area basketball. the warriors looking to continue their winning streak in houston against the rockets. and the dubs dominated throughout

( james ) the raiders are already offering season ticket options to fans las vegas. take a look at the e-mail sent out to current season ticket holders. it reads - "dear season ticket member: continue your place in raiders history. be the first to secure your refundable one-hundred dollar deposit for the las vegas stadium." ( james ) the question this morning remains, will the raiders stay in oakland until the new las vegas stadium is ready? the team says it wants to play at the coliseum, but as kron four's dan kerman explains, one city official wants the raiders out immediately. sot mark davis/raider owner 00-08the opportunity to build a worldclass stadium in the entertainment capital will allow us to achieve greatness not long after raider owner mark davis aplauded the decision allowing his team to move to las vegas his team president sent this letter to the coliseum authority indicating the raiders have decided to exercise their

option and play in oakland for the 2017-2018 season. sot larry reid, chair, coliseum authority 29-34i would rather they play in santa clara than in my citylarry reid, the chair of the coliseum authority is now having attorneys see if there is a way to throw the team out of the coliseum immediately but reid is only one vote on the coliseum commission and not everyone shares his viewsot ignacio de la fuente/ commissioner, coliseum authority 48-55the reality is you cant say leave today because there are thousands of people that work there , i project they will be here for next three yearsformer oakland city councilman ignacio de la fuente, who is also one of the 8 commissioners on the coliseum authority says keeping the team here in the interim is good for workers and while that may be true, the raiders are costly. right now revenue generated for each 10 game season is about 7 million dollars and comes from rent, parking, concessions, and drinks. expenses, those who work at the game, as well as security

( james ) president trump has signed an executive order loosening regulations on clean power and coal mining. the president says loosening the regulations is really about creating jobs. the new executive order calls for a review of clean power production goals, and rolls back recent protections for american waterways. it also urges federal agencies to identify regulations that might stand in the way of american energy independence. several governors... including governor jerry brown issued statements calling the president's executive order misguided. ( james ) here in the bay area, environmentalists are reacting to the president's actions. and some are even preparing to fight him in court. after years of working to confront climate change... many groups including the sierra club worry that president trump may be putting the country on the

wrong path. they say that his actions could undo years of progress that's been made on confronting climate change. ( james ) the sierra club told also says since president trump has been elected, they have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people applying for ( james ) a warning for people in the south bay after a mountain lion was spotted in somebody's back yard. a kron 4 viewer sent us these pictures. the mountain lion was seen monday on miradero avenue in the alum rock area. experts say if you come across a mountain lion... make noise and do ánot turn your back and run. they also say you should try to appear as big and threatening as possible.

( james ) officials say three storm chasers are dead this morning while chasing a tornado in dickens county, texas. a confirmed twister was reported in the area at roughly the same time, but it

( james ) wells fargo reaches a 110-million- dollar class action settlement with customers nationwide over claims that their employees opened accounts without getting customer permission. this happened yesterday. this is the first private settlement reached since the company paid 185- million dollars to federal and local authorities. the bank opened more than 2-million false accounts because employees were being pressured to meet what they call "unrealistic sales goals" thousands of employees had been fired and the scandal forced the bank's c-e-o john stumpf to abrupty retire. ( james ) a mother is outraged with the t-s-a this morning after she said officers detained her family for more than an hour at the dallas airport... and deliberately kept them from their flight. jennifer williams posted this video to facebook of her 13-year-old son aaron being patted down. she says the problem began when she asked agents to screen him in some other way since he has a sensory disorder.. instead, two police officers were called. she says the boy had not set off any alarms and said the agents were quote 'power- tripping." the t-s-a is arguing that the proper procedures were followed. ( james ) oakland raiders fans excited about the move to las vegas crashed the wedding of an english couple. this all happened monday in front of the famous vegas sign after n-f-l owners approved the move to the city. the group dressed in raiders shirts, hats and jerseys. some even had signs reading "las vegas raiders" and "welcome to las vegas, raiders!" the couple did not seem bothered by fans celebrating. ( will ) this all started when a driver hit a natural gas pipeline at the penzoil factory. this is on grand street and clement in alameda. we have video showing what the scene looked like early this morning. a shelter in place order has been lifted. it happened around 1:00 this morning on clement and gram street. a four inch diameter, high pressure natural gas line at an oil plant ruptured. flow of gas is now affecting people who live near the area. they are being asked to stay inside their homes and turn off their gas applaicnes. p-g and e crews are working to make the area safe.

( darya ) anny hong is here with the latest. anny. ( anny ) right now, victims are staying at the west oakland youth center. the fire broke out on san pablo avenue on monday morning. the red cross and salvation army have been helping out... and people who live in the community have been donating clothing and other items to those who lost everything.

( anny ) four people died in that fire. investigators are still trying to determine a cause. ( anny ) this deadly blaze comes 4 months after the ghostship fire that killed 36 people. mayor libby schaaf says the city is doing a better job of cracking down on building enforcement. she says firefighters answered a call last month that prompted an inspection on friday. they found defective sprinklers, smoke detectors, and alarms... but the city is required to give the owner time to fix those problems. unfortunately the fire broke out days later. back to you. ( darya ) breaking news from overnight... firefighters have contained an apartment fire in concord this morning. these are pictures from the scene. this happened around 12:45 this morning on the 1600 block of clayton road. firefighters were able to put out the fire within half an hour. no one was injured. investigators are still

( mark ) in the south bay... a recently retired v-t-a bus driver was found dead in san jose's japantown... and v-t-a officials say he was killed by one of their busses. 60-year-old benny cheung lived in milpitas. he was found dead last thursday night at first street and hawthorne way. police say it's possible he was either hit or fell off of the v-t-a bus but there are still a lot of unanswered questions as it's not clear exactly what happened. we spoke with people who are mourning benny's death. ( mark ) benny had just retired from the transit agency after 37-years.

the driver of the bus they believe hit benny has been placed on administrative leave. police say they are hoping a witness will come forward. ( darya ) the n-t-s-b is blaming california transportation officials for that deadly greyhound bus crash last year on highway 101 in san jose. this is video of the crash from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. the new report says the bus was exiting the freeway and because markings were old and worn out or missing, the driver thought he was in the exit lane. it turns out he was not and went up a barrier, causing the bus to roll over. the n-t-s-b says the barrier should have been visible, even in the bad weather. they fault the state for not properly marking the roadway. investigators say the bus had seatbelts but only two of the 21 passengers were wearing them. two people died in the crash. 13 others were injured. ( mark ) attorneys are now

reviewing whether the raiders can be forced out of the coliseum immediately. this comes just days after the n-f-l has agreed to let the team move to las vegas. the raiders sent a letter to the coliseum authority saying they have decided to exercise their option and play at the coliseum for the upcoming season. the chair of the coliseum authority wants to throw the team out of the coliseum right now. another one of the eight commissioners on the board says keeping the team in oakland is good for workers. ( mark ) the raiders are costly for the city. right now revenue generated for the season is about seven million dollars. the total expenses are about eight million dollars. the one million dollar shortfall could go away, if the raiders do as well next year. ( mark ) and the raiders are already offering season

( mark ) three storm chasers in texas died while chasing a tornado. it happened yesterday after a black suburban ran through a stop sign. storm chaser kelley williamson was driving the suburban when it crashed into a jeep. the two people inside the suburban and the driver of the jeep all died at the scene. all three were chasing the same twister reported nearby.

in an interview just weeks before his death williamson talked about some of the dangers of his job. ( mark ) weather conditions have been treacherous in texas lately. some of the biggest dangers in storm chasing include slippery roads and low visability. ( darya ) a warning for people in the south bay after a mountain lion was spotted in somebody's back yard. a kron 4 viewer sent us these pictures. the mountain lion was seen monday on miradero avenue in the alum rock area. experts say if you come across a mountain lion... make noise and do ánot turn your back and run. they also say you should try to appear as big and threatening as possible. ( darya ) six men are now facing charges of attempted

murder of an orinda school board member. back in september, carol brown was arriving home with her husband when they were attacked. two masked men demanded the husband's wallet and pistol- whipped him. he ran to call 9-1-1 and that is when he heard gunshots. his wife carol was shot. the suspects were later arrested along with four other men. in addition to attempted murder, they are also facing charges for other home invasion robberies and burglaries in the east bay. ( mark ) a judge sentences a man to six-years in prison related to the theft of half a -million dollars of wine from the famed "french laundry" restaurant in the napa valley. the suspect pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport stolen goods. prosecutors say he acknowledged stealing more than 100 bottles of high-end wine from the "french laundry" in december 20-14 then later selling some of it to a buyer in north carolina. the stolen wine included a bottle that can cost up to 10 thousand dollars. santa clara county jail say an inmate is expected to survive after being jumped and stabbed more than 40-times. the attack happened over the weekend at the main jail while inmates were let out of their cells for recreation in a common area of the prison. two inmates jumped a third one, using hand made weapons made of metal. a deputy inside the room called for back up and used pepper spray but it wasn't enough to break up the fight.

publicized battle has died. iris canada's fight to stay in her home became a focus for housing advocates... the building's owners wanted to convert the units into condominiums and tried unsuccessfully to work out a deal with her. over recent years, there were protests and rallies in her name. last month, she was evicted. iris canada had been in the hospital since her eviction and suffered a stroke last week. a vigil for her will be held outside the building at 670 page street at 5:00 tonight. ( mark ) president trump has signed an executive order loosening regulations on clean power and coal mining. the president says loosening the regulations is really about creating jobs. the new executive order calls for a review of clean power production goals, and rolls back recent protections for american waterways. it also urges federal agencies to identify regulations that might stand in the way of american energy independence.

( mark ) breaking news we are following is out of the east bay this morning.. crews are on the scene of a gas line break in alameda that was caused by a car crash.( darya ) kron 4's will tran is live at the scene with the details. will. ( will ) this all started when a driver hit a natural gas pipeline at the penzoil factory. this is on grand street and clement in alameda. we have video showing what the scene looked like early this morning. a shelter in place order has been lifted.

it happened around 1:00 this morning on clement and gram street. a four inch diameter, high pressure natural gas line at an oil plant ruptured. flow of gas is now affecting people who live near the area. they are being asked to stay inside their homes and turn off their gas applaicnes. p-g and e crews are working to make the area safe. there is no estimated time of when the gas main break will be fixed. the driver of the car is expected to survive. we are still working to gather details. i will be on the scene all morning long to provide updates. ( anny ) right now, victims are staying at the west oakland youth center. the fire broke out on san pablo avenue on monday morning. the red cross and salvation army have been helping out... and people who live in the community have been donating clothing and other items to those who lost everything. ( anny ) four people died in that fire. investigators are still trying to determine a cause. ( anny ) this deadly blaze comes 4 months after the ghostship fire that killed 3 dozen people. mayor libby schaaf says the city is doing a better job of cracking down on building enforcement. she says firefighters answered a call last month that

prompted an inspection on friday. they found defective sprinklers, smoke detectors, and alarms... but the city is required to give the owner time to fix those problems. unfortunately the fire broke out days later. back to you. ( darya ) breaking news from overnight... firefighters have put out an apartment fire in concord. these are pictures from the scene. this happened around 12:45 this morning on the 1600 block of clayton road. firefighters were able to put out the fire within half an hour. no one was hurt. ( mark ) in the south bay... a recently retired v-t-a bus driver was found dead in san jose's japantown... and v-t-a officials say he was killed by one of their busses. 60-year-old benny cheung lived in milpitas. he was found dead last thursday night at first street and hawthorne way. police say it's possible he was either hit or fell off of the v-t-a bus

but there are still a lot of unanswered questions as it's not clear exactly what happened. we spoke with people who are mourning benny's death. ( mark ) benny had just retired from the transit agency after 37-years. the driver of the bus they believe hit benny has been placed on administrative leave. police say they are hoping a witness will come forward. ( darya ) the n-t-s-b is blaming cal trans for that deadly greyhound bus crash last year on highway 101 in san jose. this is video of the crash from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. the new report says the bus

was exiting the freeway and because markings were old and worn out or missing, the driver thought he was in the exit lane. it turns out he was not and went up a barrier, causing the bus to roll over. the n-t-s-b says the barrier should have been visible, even in the bad weather. they fault the state for not properly marking the roadway. investigators say the bus had seatbelts but only two of the 21 passengers were wearing them. two people died in the crash. 13 others were injured. ( mark ) attorneys are now reviewing whether the raiders can be forced out of the coliseum immediately. this comes just days after the n-f-l has agreed to let the team move to las vegas. the raiders sent a letter to the coliseum authority saying they have decided to exercise their option and play at the coliseum for the upcoming season. the chair of the coliseum authority wants to throw the team out of the coliseum right now. another one of the eight commissioners on the board says keeping the team in oakland is good for workers.

the loose this morning after shooting a woman in pittsburg. this happened around 6:30 last night.. police responded to reports of a shooting on west street. when they arrived, police found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. she is recovering at a hospital this morning and is expected to survive. ( darya ) six men are now facing charges of attempted murder of an orinda school board member. back in september, carol brown was arriving home with her husband when they were attacked. two masked men demanded the husband's wallet and pistol- whipped him. he ran to call 9-1-1 and that is when he heard gunshots. his wife carol was shot. the suspects were later arrested along with four other men. in addition to attempted murder, they are also facing charges for other home invasion robberies and burglaries in the east bay. ( mark ) a judge sentences a man to 15 months in prison related to the theft of half a -million dollars of wine from the famed "french laundry" restaurant in yountville davis kiryakoz pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport stolen goods. prosecutors say he acknowledged stealing more than 100 bottles of high-end wine from the "french laundry" in december 20-14 then later selling some of it to a buyer

in north carolina. the stolen wine included a bottle that can cost up to 10 thousand dollars. ( mark ) happening today... a federal judge in hawaii is hearing arguments on whether to extend his temporary order blocking president trump's revised travel ban. even if u.s. district judge derrick watson doesn't put the ban on hold until the state's lawsuit is resolved, the temporary block would remain until he rules otherwise. legal experts say it's unlikely watson would side with the trump administration. the jsutice department opposes hawaii's request for a longer hold on the ban. ( darya ) another attempt to repeal north carolina's bathroom bill is expected to fail. republican lawmakers and the democratic governor were working to get rid of the bill before the n-c-double-a pulls games out of the state. the law limits l-g-b-t protections and requires transgender people to use bathrooms corresponding wit hthe sex on their birth

( mark ) williamson, and his passenger randall yarnell, had a show called storm wranglers, on the weather channel ( darya ) new this morning... a peruvian airline flight catches fire after immediately landing. the plane skid off the runway yesterday. you can see smoke and flames coming out of the plane. 141 people were on the plane and everybody was able to get out without serious injury. airport officials say the the fire started after, what they called, a forced landing. right now crews are trying to figure out exactly how the fire started. ( mark ) president trump has signed an executive order loosening regulations on clean power and coal mining. the president says loosening the regulations is really about creating jobs. the new executive order calls for a review of clean power production goals, and rolls back recent protections for american waterways. it also urges federal agencies to identify regulations that might stand in the way of american energy independence. several governors... including governor jerry brown issued statements calling the president's executive order misguided. ( mark ) and here in the bay area, environmentalists are reacting to the president's actions. and some are even preparing to fight him in court. after years of working to confront climate change... the sierra club says they fear the president's actions could undo years of progress that has been made on confronting climate change.
