estimate the repair to cost about 3-million-dollars. (grant) we might soon be paying more for a gallon of gas and vehicle fees... but it's all to help with road repairs in the golden state... the proposal by governor brown and other democratic leaders would increase gas taxes by 12 cents... which would be a 43 percent increase. this would help state officials raise the 52-billion- dollars needed over the next 10-years to fix california's roads and bridges. there would also be a fee on vehicles but there are not yet details on how much it'll be... only that owners with older cars will be paying less. coliseum executive director scott mckibben...who says it'd probably be best if the team packed their bags now. "if attendance drops, revenue drops. if revenue drops, that hurts everybody. it hurts us. it hurts the team. it hurts the league. so if mark can find another place where he feels like he can draw the right kind of crowd that can garner the right kind of revenues, it'll probably be a win for all of us if he just exercised that and did that." the worst-case scenario of an empty coliseum... is just part of the reason scott mckibben doesn't mind letting the raiders walk to the alamodome. even before the vegas decision, sundays with the raiders are a costly endeavor... as mckibben says the coliseum's annual gameday expenses add up to at least 8-million-dollars. so two more seasons is neither a moral nor a financial victory. "yes there is a loss of jobs. there is some other economic indicators that would hurt in some way shape or form, but purely from the coliseum authority's position,
5:19 pm
financially, we are better off if the raiders exit and exit now." after a 12-win season and a playoff berth for the first time since 2002, the raiders are expected to be a consistent championship contender. in any other place, that kind of team calls for sold out stadiums...and standing room only tickets. but in this situation, you have to think the black hole is going to be a lot smaller. "you have a team that right now where ownership and management has said, you know it's really not gonna be the oakland raiders, so what is the fan sentiment to that? hard to measure. i do think that it's fair to say that there can't be quite the enthusiasm for the team as there was five days ago." (mark) mckibben says he hasn't directly spoke to mark davis since the decision. the only contact he's had is a letter from team president marc badain saying the team is exercising its option to use the coliseum in 2017.
