a missing ups driver has been found safe after the truck he was driving was found down an embankment in lafayette. this is a picture of the man. he is 34 year old dennis salazar. he was found in concord. this is video of the scene. the crash happened just after 5 wednesday afternoon on hun-saker canyon road. police say the truck sa-la-zar was driving hit a tree after sliding off an embankment and they believe salazar may have been the truck. (robin @ bam) another story we are following this morning... the man suspected of shooting and killing a woman in front of her young children, is in now custody. kron4's alecia reid has details on the suspect's previous run-ins with the law. this was the true definition of community policing.there were multiple tips that came in from people that believed they saw lawyer mcbride.one from sacramento was the one

that landed him i jail.pkg "sure enough, there he was" caught at a fast food restaurant hours away from the crime scene ... u-s marshalls and richmond detectives made their way to sacramento as soon as they got that call. "this is such a great example that with everybody's help we can all come together and really make a difference"the manhunt for 43 year old san pablo resident lawyer mcbride started yesterday morning, after surveillance cameras captured images of a confrontation between mcbride and his estranged ex girlfriend rashanda franklin. "we are just relieved that a dangerous suspect such as mcbride has been taken off the streets and no one else will be hurt or killed"this isn't the first time mcbride has been involved with the law. back in 1992 he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. back then, he served time for shooting a 16 year old near pinole valley high school in response to another shooting that police referred to as gang related. he was 18 years old at the time. fast forward 25 years and an

motel in mountain view. police say michael wallin was visiting his daughter madilyn and her mother. they were staying at the residence inn on el camino. then, there was an argument. and police say that's when wallin snatched the child from her mother and drove off. (rebecca) the child's step- brother says wallin drove across the bay area and arranged for the baby's grandmonther to turn his daughter over to the family at a walmart parking lot in livermore. wallin faces felony child endangerment charges and possibly kidnapping charges. to secure support for a tax increase to fund road and bridge repairs.. he joined a rally of construction works on the capitol steps hoping to sway undecided lawmakers. today is his deadline for his proposal to hike gas taxes and car fees. today's deadline to get the law passed was self imposed by brown. environmentalists and anti-tax groups are among those against the bill. the measure relaxes clean air rules for trucks. that provision was included to win support from truckers who will see a 20-cent per gallon tax for diesel. s-b- 1 would raise the tax on regular gas by 12 cents a gallon. and it would create fees for new cars, hybrids and zero emission cars. (robin) another big story this morning... the search continues for a missing northern california college student.. aly yoe-man was last seen in yuba city last week. her car and cell phone were then found in live oak. about an hour north

of sacramento. reporter rowena shaddox talked to her friends, the last people to see her. allied agencies were back since this morning, searching the area where aly yoeman's pickup and cell were discovered earlier this week. officers told off- camera, there's a lot of brush in between the levee and feather river, which they didn't cover during tuesday's search. that area is the focus of the search today. so far, aly has not been found.there's been no trace of the 20-year-old since she went missing on thursday. drone 40 shows us the tire tracks of yoeman's truck, where it was pulled out of the dirt.and despite after finding that truck and her cellphone in this orchard in live oak, family and close friends of the yuba city college student continue to hope and pray that she comes back to her gridley home safely.close friends who were with yoeman before she went missing, helped fox 40 piece together the events of that night.they say yoeman needed to talk, and confided in a 37-year-old male friend of hers, who is also the dad of two of her friends close to her age. standup: aly yoeman and her friend went to this popular yuba city restaurant, taste of india, where they had

dinner.(inside the dining area) staff tells us the pair had dinner at a tall table in this area, where they spent the next hour-and-a-half. according to staff, there is surveillance video, which shows them having dinner. gridley police viewed the recording on tuesday, but have yet to which the eatery says they've downloaded for they declined to share the video until police have possession. after leaving the restaurant, her friends say yoeman went back to the friend's romero street home with him, joined by his children. a young couple, who are also all friends, later joined them.the older friend couch before work early the but they say she to take the backroads home, avoid the cops when she'd been drinking."was the last time has seen her. (robin) broken and dirty elevators and escalators have now resulted in a lawsuit for bart. disability rights groups and two disabled people say getting around stations is harder and more grotesque than it should be. kron 4's hermela aregawi has the details on the changes the plantiffs want made quickly. (robin) a man accused of groping women on muni is now behind bars. san francisco police have arrested this man in connection with a series of sexual assaults. police say the incidents occurred on muni trains over the last few weeks. one reported victim says she was assaulted last thursday on the n- judah line as it was heading from duboce park toward the sunset. the woman took a photo of the suspect and posted it on social media. and within 24-hours he was identified and taken into custody. have not released the man's name as they are continuing to search for other victims. so far 4 victims have been identified, (robin @ landing) napa police say a man who was shot and killed by officers, had been shooting at neighbors. the incident happened around 2 tuesday afternoon on bueno street and pueblo avenue. when officers arrived on scen police say the man began firing at them from a car. we have viewer video the moment it happened. take a look. nats of shooting and beeping (robin) the suspect then crashed into a tree and the man died at the scene. his identity has not yet been released. the officers who fired their weapons have been placed on administrative leave. the shooting remains under investigation. (robin) a warning for pet owners in san francisco, watch out for aggressive coyotes. at least two dogs have been

attacked in the area near lake merced since decemember. now there is growing concern that the problem could get worse. kron 4's charles clifford spoke with a woman who says her dog was killed by coyotes. natsback in december, liza valdeolivar was walking her dog, mya, here in in broderick terry dual landmark park which sits right on the border between san francisco and daly city. it's was about 5 in the evening and mya was walking off leash behind liza along this trail. sotliza followed the coyotes but couldn't find any trace of them or mya. she says the incident left her traumatized. sotstandup in san francisco, animal care and

control has been getting calls about coyotes since about 2007. the city keeps track of coyote encounters but says there's not much they can do about them. the predators will only be killed if they pose a serious threat. they advise anyone who sees a coyote to keep their distance and if necessary make noise to scare the animals off. they also say to avoid walking dogs around dusk or at night when coyotes are most active. sot liza admits that she shouldn't have let mya off leash or walked in the park around sunset, but she still feels that more can be done to keep pets and people safe. she's asking for better warning signs in this park and she also wants to get the word out that coyotes can be dangerous.sot

(robin) the founder of an exclusive marin county private school has been charged with embezzling more than one - million dollars. kathleen mecca was arrested at her home in florida - and now faces embezzlement charges. she started 'mount tamalpais' school in mill valley forty years ago. tuition there runs close to 30- thousand dollars a year. she

retired in 20-15 and shortly afterward, the school started to look into its finances after some questions arose including the discovery of a hidden bank account. in court documents obtained by kron four news, marin prosecutors say authorities discovered funds being diverted to pay personal credit cards and hotel stays. as well as a wedding at an expensive santa barbara resort. (robin) protesters demanding the alameda county sheriff stop the detention of undocumented immigrants for deportation. and about a hundred protesters spent their day outside a jail in oakland. the demonstration is part of a series of protests throughout the state. kron4's lydia pantazes has the details. (nats)they are undocumented youth....(nats)using a van to spread their message across california and even collecting messages of support."i'm undocumented, i was brought here when i was 10-years old." marcela hernandez is one of more than a dozen people traveling by from san diego to sacramento in this van... on it a clear message.... that the people inside are undocumented and unafraid.... (nats)and sharing their stories."we're really here saying that we're gonna keep resisting so the community can know rights and they can also join the movement and we can build safe communities outside police, outside ice

"undocumented!!! unafraid." along the way, they're stopping at jails across the state to demand that local authorities stop collaborating with immigration and customs enforcement."we need to tell our stories so people are understanding of what we're going through and can help and support us."on wednesday they stopped at the glenn e dwyer jail in oakland... the group and about a hundred supporters demanded that sheriff greg ahern stop collaborating with ice.the group has already held similar protests at jails throughout central and southern california."were pushing the same with ahern, with mims in fresno, with mcdonald in la county that they need to cut ties with immigration and customs enforcement."the protesters argue that the detention of undocumented immigrants for deportation is a double punishment."these are sheriff's that are promoting trumps policies, they are their minions, the people on the ground promoting what

(robin) in the east bay... victims of the oakland building that went up in flames last week have now been forced out of their temporary homes. the shelter they have been staying in has officially closed. rebecca strom has more on that story. rebecca? (rebecca) the search is now on for homes for those who have been displaced by the fire that caused 80 people to lose their homes and killing 4 others. and a legal battle is taking place as well. the urojas community services is a half-way house on san pablo avenue. urojas was in the midst of the heated eviction battle with its landlord. that battle included a restraining order and accusations that the landlord tried to change the locks and forcibly remove tenants from the building. and now the cause of the fire is being called into question.

( mark ) breaking overnight... a missing ups driver has been found safe after the truck he was driving was found down an embankment in lafayette. rebecca strom is here with the latest. rebecca ( rebecca ) the driver's name is dennis salazar. he was found safe late last night ion concord. the crash happened just after 5:00 yesterday evening on hunsaker canyon road. this is video of the scene courtesy of our helicopter partnership with a-b-c 7 news. investigators say the truck hit a tree and they believe salazar was thrown from the truck. right now it is not clear how salazar got to

( terisa ) the man suspected of killing his ex- girlfriend in front of her young children is now in custody. 43-year-old lawyer mcbride was arrested yesterday after someone told police they spotted him at a fast food restaurant in sacramento. he is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old rashanda franklin in richmond on tuesday. this isn't the first time mcbride has been in trouble with the law. back in 19-92 he was arrested for attempted murder for shooting a 16-year-old near pinole valley high school. police say he has an extensive criminal history and is now facing murder charges. ( terisa ) mcbride is being held at

( mark ) happening now: the search continues for the father who police say took his own four- month old baby girl. the baby has been found safe. she is now back with her mother. this all began tuesday night at a motel in mountain view. police say michael wallin was visiting his daughter madilyn and her mother. they were staying at the residence inn on el camino. then, there was an argument. and police say that's when wallin snatched the child from her mother and drove off. the child's step- brother says wallin drove across the bay area and arranged for the baby's grandmonther to turn his daughter over to the family at a walmart parking lot in livermore. wallin faces felony child endangerment charges and possibly kidnapping charges. of killing the father of her children and dumping his body is expected to be released from jail after her family and friends raised enough money to pay her 35 million dollar bail. ( will ) tiffany li pleaded not guilty to murder and directing her boyfriend and another man to kill keith green and dispose of his body. prosecutors say she feared losing custody of her children. li was arrested last year in hilsborough. people connected to her mother raised raised $million dollars in cash and pledged another $61 million in property. she must remain on house arrest with around the clock electronic monitoring until her trial in september. police say 30-year-old tiffany li is charged with murdering her ex-boyfirend keith green.

( mark ) napa police say the man shot and killed by police had been shooting at neighbors. it all started around 2:00 tuesday afternoon on bueno street and pueblo avenue. when police arrived they say the man began shooting at them from a car. that's when officers opened fire. the man then crashed into a tree and died at the scene. his identity has not yet been released. the officers who shot the man have been placed on administrative leave.

( mark ) a san francisco man accused of kidnapping a 13- year-old girl has pleaded ánotá guilty 27-year-old lee eigl (eye-gil) appeared in court yesterday. he was arrested last month in connection with the attack in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. police say eigl grabbed the victim while she walked along forest side avenue and tried pulling her in his car. they say she screamed alerting people nearby who then pulled her away from eigl. he was later arrested and has now been charged with six felonies. ( terisa ) this morning we are learning new details about the apartment building in oakland that caught fire - killing four people last week. the temporary shelter for the people displaced has closed. the urojas (u- row-haas) community services was using the apartment as half-way house. urojas was in the midst of the heated eviction battle with its landlord... which included a restraining order, and accusations that the landlord tried to change the locks... and forcibly remove tenants

( mark ) bart is facing a lawsuit this morning over the condition of elevators at many stations. a disability rights group filed the lawsuit in federal court yesterday. they claim many of the elevators are used as a bathroom and have feces or urine in them. other times they don't even work. the lawsuit also says escalators are routinely out of service and that makes it harder for people with disabilities to access bart. because of these reasons, they say bart is in violation of federal and state disability laws.

on the border between san francisco and daly city. it's was about 5 in the evening and mya was walking off leash behind liza along this trail. sotliza followed the coyotes but couldn't find any trace of them or mya. she says the incident left her traumatized. sotstandup in san francisco, animal care and control has been getting calls about coyotes since about 2007. the city keeps track of coyote encounters but says there's not much they can do about them. the predators will only be killed if they pose a serious threat. they advise anyone who sees a coyote to keep their distance and if necessary make noise to scare the animals off. they also say to avoid walking dogs around dusk or at night when coyotes are most active. sot liza admits that she shouldn't have let mya off leash or walked in the park around sunset, but she still feels that more can be done to

( mark ) the founder of an exclusive marin county private school has been charged with embezzling more than one - million dollars. kathleen mecca was arrested at her home in florida - and now faces embezzlement charges.

( terisa ) a group of protesters arrested for blocking cal-train tracks.. during an inauguration day protest.. wants the charges against them dropped. in all, eleven people face misdemeanor charges for this protest at 16th and mississippi streets in san francisco. it was one of several demonstrations in the bay area that day. the protest distrupted caltrain service for several hours until police came in and removed them. yesterday they asked a judge to drop the charges, instead of entering a plea during their arraignment. a spokesman for the district attorney's office says, they are facing charges because the protest posed, not only a danger to themselves and others, but blocked critical infrastructure. the judge did not issue a response to their request. ( mark ) a scary situation at the moraga police

department. officers say a woman who had been cleaning out a relatives home - brought three smoke grenades into the department. this was at the department on rheem boulevard. it happened around 9:00 yesterday morning. officers evacuated the entire building and a bomb squad was called in - to remove the smoke grenades. police are warning people - if they come across a suspected explosive device to evacuate the area and call police. ( terisa ) an 11-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot while protecting his 2-year-old sister. the shooting happened on sunday at a toddler's birthday party in davis. the boy's mom says he was shot in the back, chest and knee. one woman and two other children were also injured in the shooting including the 11-year-old. the boy's mom says he ran toward the bullets to save his two-year-old sister.

arrested yesterday after someone told police they spotted him at a fast food restaurant in sacramento. he is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old rashanda franklin in richmond on tuesday. this isn't the first time mcbride has been in trouble with the law. back in 19-92 he was arrested for attempted murder for shooting a 16-year-old near pinole valley high school. police say he has an extensive criminal history and is now facing murder charges. ( rebecca @ land ) mcbride is being held at the martines detention facility right now. as he was arrested... he said he did not kill rashanda franklin and that police were taking the wrong person into custody. the search continues for the father who police say took his own four- month old baby girl. the baby has been found safe. she is now back with her mother. this all began tuesday night at a motel in mountain view. police say michael wallin was visiting his daughter madilyn and her mother. they were staying at the residence inn on el camino. then, there was an argument. and police say that's when wallin snatched the child from her mother and drove off. the child's step- brother says wallin drove across the bay area and arranged for the baby's grandmonther to turn his daughter over to the family at a walmart parking lot in livermore. wallin faces felony child endangerment charges and possibly kidnapping charges. ( terisa ) a woman accused of killing the father of her children and dumping his body is expected to be released from jail after her family and friends raised enough money to pay her 35 million dollar bail.

( mark ) a san francisco man accused of kidnapping a 13- year-old girl has pleaded ánotá guilty 27-year-old lee eigl (eye-gil) appeared in court yesterday. he was arrested last month in connection with the attack in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. police say eigl grabbed the victim while she walked along forest side avenue and tried pulling her in his car. they say she screamed alerting people nearby who then pulled her away from eigl. he was later arrested and has now been charged with six felonies. the lawsuit in federal court yesterday. they clam many of the elevators are used as a bathroom and have have feces or urine in them. other times they don't even work. the lawsuit also says escalators are routinely out of service and that makes it harder for people with disabilities to access bart. because of these reasons, they say bart is in violation of federal and state disability laws. bart has responded to the lawsuit by releasing this statement... it reads "bart's staff are cleaning up after the homeless. we've hired more crews and offered overtime to help keep affected areas clean and functioning, but riders and employees continue to áunacceptablyá experience the

saying she was stabbed by another passenger in chicago. the woman took an uber-pool home back in january. she says the passenger in the front seat began slashing her face as soon as she got in. she is asking for 50-thousand dollars for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. uber has not commented on the lawsuit. chicago poliec later arrested the man who attacked the woman. ( terisa ) more than eight- thousand uber and lyft drivers failed a massachusetts background check. most drivers were rejected because they had their license suspended in the past. more than 15-hundred drivers were rejected because of a violent crime charge. others were denied because they had a history of driving offenses or sexual abuse. last november, the ride sharing companies agreed to let the state run its own background checks. uber and lyft typically conduct the background check themselves, looking for disqualifying offenses in the past seven years. city officials in berkeley voted to ban the local sale of fur products. berkeley is now the second city in the state to approve the ban. the ordinance was led by the "berkeley coalition for animals," and was approved by the city council tuesday night. advocates of the ban say the fur industry's treatment of animals is radically inconsistent with berkeley's values. west hollywood passed a similar ban in 20-13. ( mark ) more than half of americans now support the affordable care act. a new gallup poll found roughly 55-percent americans now support the law. that is up from 42-percent back in november. ( terisa ) the study found that most americans want to keep the law, but many want to see changes made.( mark ) this comes as the white house and house republicans appear to come up short of a last-ditch deal to repeal the health care law. lawmakers are set to head home for a two-week recess without voting on their health care bill today.

( mark ) today... california lawmakers are expected to vote on gas tax and vehicle registration fee increase.( terisa ) the tax could raise the price of gas 12 cents per gallon. kron 4's averi harper is live in fremont with the latest on today's vote and how drivers are reacting. averi? environmentalists and anti-tax groups are among those against the bill. the measure also relaxes clean air rules for trucks. that provision was included to win support from truckers who will see a 20-cent per gallon tax for diesel. the bill would raise the price of gas about 12 cents per gallon. it would create fees for new cars, hybrids and zero emission vehicles. moraga police department. officers say a woman who had been cleaning out a relatives home - brought three smoke grenades into the department. this was at the department on rheem boulevard. it happened around 9:00 yesterday morning. officers evacuated the entire building and a bomb squad was called in - to remove the smoke grenades. police are warning people - if they come across a suspected explosive device to evacuate the area and call police.

( mark ) a group of protesters arrested for blocking cal-train tracks.. during an inauguration day protest.. wants the charges against them dropped. in all, eleven people face misdemeanor charges for this protest at 16th and mississippi streets in san francisco. it was one of several demonstrations in the bay area that day. the protest distrupted caltrain service for several hours until police came in and removed them. yesterday they asked a judge to drop the charges, instead of entering a plea during their arraignment. a spokesman for the district attorney's office says, they are facing charges because the protest posed, not only a danger to themselves and others, but blocked critical infrastructure. the judge did not issue a response to their request. ( terisa ) researchers say they are one step closer to developing a vaccine for the zika virus. they say early trials of a d-n-a vaccine are showing success. there are 529 travel-associated zika virus infections right now in california. but the biggest question for
