( james ) breaking news this morning out of fremont. fremont boulevard between paseo padre park and thronton avenue was shut down for several hours overnight while police officers investigated a major crime scene. the area has reopened within the last hour. there are reports that this involves an officer-involved shooting. kron 4's will tran is on his way to the scene and will bring more details as soon as he arrives. ( james ) in the south bay... a handful of new homes damaged by vandals. and police are áástill looking for the suspects. it's all happening in the east foothills neighborhood of san jose... where kron4's lydia pantazes says it's a growing problem. broken windows... shattered

fireplaces...damage both in and outside of these homes on rosemar court."we actually came on our front deck and saw all these people running around in the dark."this woman.... who did not want to show her face on camera for safety reasons saw it all happen.she says at three cars filled with people pulled up to these 4 new homes and started vandalizing them on sunday morning at about 3am. "it was a very calculated episode it seemed as if we woke up around three o'clock in the morning to all this noise and crashing of windows, all the destruction going on and then we saw them scurrying around from one house to another running in and out of backyards and just damaging whatever they could."the woman called police but says by the

that's when the victim was found shot in the head inside this gray bmw. witnesses saw the lifeless body was slumped over the steering wheel. the engine was still running and the wipers were on. officials say surveillance video shows three men get into the car. then a short time later you can see them getting out of the car and leaving the area. witnesses say this type of crime is rare in newark.

the lone tree way off-ramp. authorities say two panhandlers were fired at. a woman was hit in the leg. she was treated at a hospital and released. officials believe this may have been gang related. since the begining of 20-15, 111 shootings have occured on bay area freeways. chp says 17 people have been arrested and charged. ( james ) another big story we are following this morning... police say they've located the person who sent ransom messages to the family of a missing yuba city college student. officers determined that the person was not involved in the disapearance of alycia yeoman. the 20-year-old went missing in yuba city, north of sacramento last thursday. alycia's truck was found near a levee the night she went missing. investigators later found her cell phone and one set of footprints leading away from her truck. yeoman's mom says she received texts with demands from alycia's kidnappers. authorities are offering a five-thousand dollar reward for information

two coptic (cop-tick) churches in egypt. isis is now claiming responsibility for the explosions. according to egypt's health ministry the death toll is up to 49 with more than 100 people injured. the explosive device at one church was planted under a seat in the main prayer hall. the explosions happened during palm sunday service which marks the start of holy week for christians. according to state t-v, egypt's president has declared a three day nation-wide period of mourning in the wake of the bombings. ( james ) the president has also orderd units from the military to immediately deploy and assist the civilian police in securing vital and important facilities across the country. the bombing comes days after president donald trump welcomed the egyptian president to washington and stressed his support for cairo. among the topics of mutual concern were terrorism and terror group isis. ( james ) and in milpitas. police say four people were arrested on suspicion of numerous offenses including possessing a stolen vehicle

and drug paraphernalia. it happened march 27th , when police spotted the people driving a stolen 2009 nissan murano s-u-v on ranch drive. officers attempted to catch the suv, but the people in it were able to successfully speed away. after an extensive search, all four people have been arrested. ( james @ landing ) president donald trump may now be on board with the idea of regime change in syria. an ambassador to the united nations nicki haley says it will happen. trump administration officials stopped short of calling it a change in u-s policy, andrew spencer has the details. the deaths of civilians last week in the syrian town of khan sheikhoun -- as a result of a chemical attack -- may have prompted a shift in the president's policy.the u-s ambassador to the u-n now says getting syrian president bashar al-assad out of syria is a priority.nikki haley / u.s. ambassador to the u.n.:

( james ) a "tent city" pilot program in oakland is just about to end. this just as city officials get ready to launch another one. the city argues that allowing the homeless to live in one area could give them better access to services, while also keeping tents off sidewalks. kron four's philippe djegal goes in-depth on what the city is hoping to accomplish. philippe: dejon goolsby/homel ess/nats- "babe, this is all he gave me right here."welcome to dejon goolsby's humble abode...a tent underneath the freeway in west oakland... dejon goolsby/homeless- "i never thought we'd be here, but i appreciate the help though."last october, the city of oakland turned this space

into a "tent city."part of it's "safe camping" pilot program...giving the homeless an area to camp out, equiped with portable toilets. garbage service...and, case managers who stop by on occasion to help get people into housing. when the pilot first launched, some 40 people lived here... out of the city's more than 15- hundred homeless.since then, joe devries with the city of oakland, says all but seven of those homeless are no longer on the streets and are actually in housing.joe devries/city of oakland- "now, more people have moved in. so, for our next pilot, we're looking at a site that's not on the street, that would actually be a vacant lot, that has not just case management and services, but also site management and security." devries says the new city sanctioned homeless encampment should be up and running in about a month...and, he says

( james ) this is video sent to us from the alameda county fire department. those 11 ducklings were rescued from a storm drain. it happened around 9:30 yesterday morning. you can see the mama duck was leading the way. the ducklings were all relocated to a nearby creek where they were united with their parents. and here's a photo of crews at the storm drain with the mother duck looking on. they were able to get all 11 ducklings out safely. this... a man jumped into a freezing pond to save his dog who fell through the ice. it happened in saint albert, canada. duncan mciver jumped in the water without hesitation as his dog cosmo struggled to keep his head above the freezing water. mciver manages to get his dog and himself out of the water. mciver and cosmo are doing ok this morning. ( james ) happening now. police are looking for a man who stole a necklace worth several thousands of dollars from a napa jewelry store. this is the man police are looking for. they say this happened back on april 1st but are just now releasing his picture. police say he walked into the store, tried on a necklace and then ran out with it. ( james ) new information is coming to light about the man who carried out an attack in stockholm. he was ordered to leave sweden in december because his request for a resdence permit was rejected. swedes are now questioning their country's immigration policies. all this after finding out that an asylum-seeker from uzbekistan was behind the terrorist attack. four people were killed in the attack on friday. this is stockholm's deadliest terrorist attack in years. gathered in san diego county over the weekend, calling on their police department to fire an officer involved in a deadly shooting. this shooting happened back in september 20-16 in el cajon. an el cajon officer fired four shots at alfred olango. he was an unarmed african- american man. olango turned out to be pointing an e-cigarette at officers. the case is now at the hands of the u-s supreme ( james ) one woman is in the hospital after falling off a balcony near u-c santa barbara during the annual del- topia party in isla vista a 22 year-old woman was hospitalized after falling off a balcony and down a cliff onto the beach below yesterday. police say she has moderate injuries. 42 people were arrested and 14 others were injured. authorities say between six and eight thousand people attended the event each year. ( mark / boxes ) happening now. police are searching for a man who they say sexually assaulted two women on the stanford university campus... they happened within 20 minutes of each other. both incidents were reported friday night on escondido road. the first one around 10:40 p-m when police say a man groped a woman from behind and continued walking east. then, around 11 p-m, a second victim say's she was jogging when a man allegedly groped her from behind and ran away. there is no clear descrption behind the man áorá men in these assaults. ( james ) the man who police say shot and killed a woman while she sat in a car with her two young sons in richmond will appear in court today. the judge set bail for lawyer mcbride at

three-point-one million dollars. he faces murder charges. the 43-year-old is alleged to have shot his ex -girlfriend, rashanda franklin, after the two had an altercation. police say franklin's two boys under the age of ten were in the car with their mother when mcbride fired the fatal shots. ( mark ) the search continues for a missing san jose state university student. 23-year-old kevin redrico was last seen near the benicia bridge thursday morning. he left his home in vallejo that morning and was last seen getting out of his 20-14 red honda accord in benicia. police have searched by helicopter and boat. volunteers have been searching the area on foot ever since. redrico was wearing black clothing when he left home. ( mark ) one person is dead this morning after a suspected d-u-i crash in san jose. the three-car collison happened around 2:30 yesterday morning on highway 280 at mclaughlin avenue. police say that the driver of a gray lexus was speeding and

lost control of the car. the lexus hit a gray honda accord which crashed into a guard-rail and caught fire. the driver of the honda died. the lexus then hit a silver toyota camry that overturned. that driver escaped injury. police arrested jerry tram, who was driving the lexus. the 21-year-old suffered minor injuries. he was taken to jail on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. ( mark ) the body of a sacramento woman who went missing last week has been found. authorities say the body of 62 year-old pamela suwinsky was found in the upper truckee river yesterday morning. suwinsky was last seen nearly a week ago leaving the motel-six in south lake tahoe. that's less than a half mile from where her body was located. according to her ex-husband, suwinsky had fallen in a parking lot and chipped a tooth the day before she went missing. an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of her death. of eugene. witnesses described seeing the plane flying at a low altitude when it suddenly turned and went down into a field. the victims are a california couple, their 17-year-old son and a 67-year-old pilot. the n-t-s-b and f-a-a are investigating the crash. overcorssing. (james) gas prices continue to rise this morning. the average price of a gallon of regular gas has gone up nine cents over the past two weeks. (mark) and industry experts say that the u-s missile strike on syria has contributed to the rise. they say unless oil prices go down quickly... you should expect gas prices to climb a few more cents. (james) the national average is up 33-cents per gallon from a year ago. and here's a look at bay area prices this morning. in oakland it's $2.99 for a gallon of regular gas. san jose is $3.02. and san francisco is the most expensive in the nation at $3.12.

(mark) us airlines are getting better grades across the board that's according to a report from wichita state university just released this morning. (james) researchers say airlines are getting better at sticking to their schedules, they are losing fewer bags, and customers are complaining less often. (mark) the researchers use information compiled by the u.s. department of transportation to rate the airlines for on- time performance, baggage handling, bumping passengers off oversold flights, and complaints filed with the government. they plan to release their list of the best airlines later this morning. behind and ran away. there is no clear descrption of the attacker ( james ) the man who police say shot and killed a woman while she sat in a car with her two young sons in richmond will appear in court today. the judge set bail for lawyer mcbride at three-point-one million dollars. he faces murder charges. the 43-year-old is alleged to have shot his ex -girlfriend, rashanda franklin, after the two had an altercation. police say franklin's two boys under the age of ten were in the car with their mother when mcbride fired the fatal shots. ( mark ) the search continues for a missing san jose state university student. 23-year-old kevin redrico was last seen near the benicia bridge thursday morning. he left his home in vallejo that morning and was last seen getting out of his 20-14 red honda accord in benicia. police have searched by helicopter and boat. volunteers have been searching

the area on foot ever since. redrico was wearing black clothing when he left home. ( mark ) one person is dead this morning after a suspected d-u-i crash in san jose. the three-car collison happened around 2:30 yesterday morning on highway 280 at mclaughlin avenue. police say that the driver of a gray lexus was speeding and lost control of the car. the lexus hit a gray honda accord which crashed into a guard-rail and caught fire. the driver of the honda died. the lexus then hit a silver toyota camry that overturned. that driver escaped injury. police arrested jerry tram, who was driving the lexus. the 21-year-old suffered minor injuries. he was taken to jail on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. (mark) fox news' parent company, 21st century fox, says it will investigate the sexual harassment claims made against host bill o'reily. that's according to an attorney representing a woman who filed the harassment complaint against o'reily. the new york times reported last weeek that fox news and o'reily paid 13 million dollars in settlements to five women who accused o'reilly of sexual harassment.
