( marty @ land ) our top story this morning... berekely is bracing for violent protests today. hundreds of president trump supporters and anti-trump protesters are expected to both show up and demonstarte. this was the scene back in march when a protest turned violent leading to numerous injuries and arrests. kron four's lydia pantazes reports from martin luther king - civic center park, where the demonstrations are set to take place. the protests are expected to take place here in the martin luther king jr. civic park. right wing groups announced a protest here at noon.a left wing group is having a bloc party and cookout here at 10-am.(pkg) this bank in downtown berkeley

isn't taking any chances.... they've boarded up the entire perimeter of their business to prepare for pro and anti trump protests planned in martin luther king junior civic park in berkeley on saturday.this bank is just one of the businesses damaged in february when a protest at uc berkeley spilled out into the downtown area causing about a half a million dollars in damage. "when they started the protest, it was on campus and very peaceful, it was only when they got out here that a couple of guys came in and just were ramshaking the place and i think it was just a couple of bad actors."another protest in march also resulted in violence...but no businesses were damaged during that protest."one of my greatest concerns is even in this interview, you know, identifying the store and being subject to retribution." this man has worked in downtown berkeley 30-years.... he didn't want to identify the store where he works because he's scared of becoming a target during saturday's protest."i hope it's a peaceful day and a peaceful protest, i'm not counting on that but i hope so."the downtown berkeley association has warned business owners of the protest, some have gotten extra security.but this man says if there is violence, he

doesn't think added security would make a difference.""i don't think that that is necessarily going to be a deterrent, because the people that broke the banks windows, all the way around, that wasn't just a few people that a security guard could deal with, that was more of a riot situation."(tag)we did speak with several businesses owners off camera who didn't want to be because they are afraid of becoming targets.reporting live in berkeley, lydia pantazes kron4 news. ( marty @ landing ) breaking overnight. a missing teen is back home after police say she was beaten, sexually assaulted and held against her will by her boyfriend in santa rosa. the teen went missing back in february. her parents received a text message saying she would be killed if police got involved. just before 8:00 last night, officers went to a home near the corner of billie jean street and martina drive for a welfare check. the teenager later ran out of the front door and to the officers. two men inside the house were arrested.

one of them was her 28- year-old boyfriend. he faces multiple charges this morning. ( marty ) another big story we are following this morning... north korea showed off some of it's newest weapons during a military parade. it's part of the "day of the sun," which is the 105th anniversary of the birth of the country's founding father. leader kim jong un watched as thousands of soldiers marched alongside tanks, balloons and enormous crowds. this comes as analysts say that the country is quickly growing its nuclear weapon capabilities. c-n-n's brian todd reports that north korea's expanding nuclear stockpile is worrying experts. cnn has learned - kim jong un's nuclear weapons buildup is advancing rapidly.north korea's now estimated to have produced between 13 and 30 nuclear warheads.that's according to a new report from former u-n weapons inspector david albright-- whose firm examined the regime's plutonium and uranium production.albright stresses- north korea's nuclear program is so secretive, that completely accurate figures are difficult to get.but based
7:05 am
on what he's found- the former inspector has an ominous projection for the number of warheads kim could soon produce.david albright/institute for science & international security"by the end of 2020, the numbers could go up to 25 to 50.. and the worst case, could go up to 60."with a stockpile that large, analysts say-- kim's regime could make it harder for the u-s to track his nuclear weapons. gordon chang/author, "nuclear showdown: north korea takes on the world""that means they can disperse them. most of them i suspect will be underground. and that ultimately means the u.s. does not have a first-strike capability- because we can't be assured of taking out all of their weapons."u-s intelligence officials and independent weapons experts tell cnn: kim jong un's been more aggressive with nuclear and missile tests over the past year-and-a-half, than he's ever been.the center for strategic and international studies says the regime's tested missiles more than 20-times since the beginning of 2016... and tested nuclear warheads twice in that span.albright says with each nuclear test-- the young dictator gets closer to producing a more powerful nuclear bomb.david albright/institute for science
7:06 am
& international security"they could break in to- thermonuclear weapons, if they continue to test. and that would give them the ability to make a much larger explosion. it would give them the ability to actually miniaturize their warheads better."experts with the monitoring group '38- north' believe kim already has the ability to test a nuclear warhead-- 16-times more powerful than the bomb dropped on hiroshima.the calculations-- made even more menacing, by the unpredictable nature of the young man with his finger on that nuclear trigger.gordon chang/columnist, the daily beast"i believe kim jong un is even more dangerous than he appears- and the reason is that i don't think his regime is stable. and that means kim jong un could have a much lower threshold of risk than we think. it means he could do something that could surprise us. because from his perspective, he may think he has little to lose."brian todd/cnn"analysts say, if north korea conducts another nuclear test in the coming days or weeks, it's going to mean that china likely was not able to use its leverage, its influence over kim jong un.and that, they say, is a very dangerous sign. brian todd, cnn, washington." the ability to test a nuclear warhead-- 16-times more powerful than the bomb dropped on hiroshima.the calculations-- made even more menacing, by the unpredictable nature of the young man with his finger on that nuclear trigger.gordon chang/columnist, the daily beast"i believe kim jong un is even more dangerous than he appears- and the reason is that i don't think his regime is stable. and that means kim jong un could have a much lower threshold of risk than we think. it means he could do something that could surprise us. because from his perspective, he may think he has little to lose."brian todd/cnn"analysts say, if north korea conducts another nuclear test in the coming days or weeks, it's going to mean that china likely was not able to use its leverage, its influence over kim jong un.and that, they say, is a very dangerous sign. brian todd, cnn, washington."
