morning. a u-c berkeley student has died after falling from a third story balcony. coroners identified the victim as 21-year-old kimberly tze (zee) of elk grove. it happened just after midnight yesterday, near the corner of dwight way and college avenue... just four blocks campus. she was a junior at the school and was finishing up her degree in computer science. witnesses spoke to kron four about their shock over what happened. ( james ) at the moment, police are investigating this as a tragic accident. tze was a junior at uc berkeley where she was finishing up her degree in computer science. ( james ) elsewhere in the east bay... police are looking for three people in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping. it happened saturday night on the 63-hundred block of international boulevard.. that's just a few blocks away from greenleaf elementary

school. police tell us a woman was assaulted and kidnapped around 10 p-m. she later escaped. investigators say she suffered bruising, swelling and a minor cut from the attack. ( james ) at least 20 people are under arrest in connection with violence at a protest between a group of anti and pro president trump demonstrators in berkeley. these are some of the weapons officers confiscated on your screen. police say they even seized a stun gun and a concrete-filled can. the two groups clashed at civic center park saturday. 11 people were injured and seven of those people were taken to hospitals. none of the businesses in the area reported being damaged. police say they expect to make more arrests once they review video and social media evidence. ( james ) police are on the hunt for gunmen in connection with a shooting at a house party in valejo. 9 minors were injured in the shooting. this happened just after midnight sunday morning at a home on calhoun street near benson avenue. officers say a

group of teens were gathered outside the home. that's when they say a car carrying two people in ski masks shot at the house. four people were shot. five others suffered other injuries. police say all nine people are under 18 years old and were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. there is no clear description of the car or the shooters. stolen from the trunk of a rental car in san francisco are now back with the family this morning. joe wilkinson's wife mary and daughter julia traveled to san francisco to celebrate the birthday of their late husband and father. they planned to spread his ashes in the redwood national park. but before they could, the ashes were stolen. the family told us the ashes were taken from the trunk of their rental car parked at fisherman's wharf. the two pleaded for their return last week. the ashes were returned yesterday to the family. ( james ) the special needs teacher shot and killed at a san bernardino school was rembered in a vigil. karen smith was one of three people who died at north park elementary school last week. police say she was killed by her estranged husband 53- year-old cedric anderson. police say anderson walked into her classroom and opened fire. killing smith, and an eight-year-old student.

a nine-year-old student is home recovering from his injuries. smith was a mother of four adult children. including her daughter who's also a teacher. ( james ) north park elementary school is expected to re-open this morning. ( james ) a plane is forced to make an emergency landing at s-f-o. airport officials say the plane was on its way to kona international airport on hawaii's big island when it was forced to turn around. the plane was safely on the ground around late yesterday morning. an airlines spokeswoman says there was a mechanical problem. ( james ) police in santa clara arrest a man suspected of committing several burglaries. they say he hid the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts yesterday. police found sean o'donnel robertson at a storage facility. after searching robertson, officers say they also found drugs. police say robertson's storage locker and his car contained about 2-thousand dollars worth of stolen propterty. most of the stolen property has been returned ( james ) the stakes are

( james ) in national headlines. police are investigating how a one- year-old boy wound up dead at a daycare in michigan. a mother says she found her son korey unresponsive inside a "pack 'n play". she says her son had bruising and what appeared to be human bites on his body. the daycare claims it does not know what happened to korey. the daycare has been licensed and in operation since november of last year. its online record shows no violations. police have not yet released anymore information about the investigation this morning. because a crew member needed it. the 69-year-old says he suffered a concussion, a broken nose, broke a couple of teeth, has damage to his sinuses and might need reconstructive surgery. he's planning to file a lawsuit against united. the airline says it will now require staff and crew to check in at least 60 minutes before a flight. the airlines wants to avoid future backlash when it asks passengers to give up their seat for a united worker. it is legal to bump a ticket- holding customer off a flight, but typically not once they've already boarded. united says this policy will ensure employees are seated before the plane fills up. ( james ) a u-c berkeley student has died after falling from a third story balcony. coroners identified the victim as 21-year-old kimberly tze (zee) of elk grove. it happened just after midnight yesterday, near the corner of dwight way and college avenue... just a few blocks from campus. witnesses spoke to kron four about the shock of what happened. ( james ) we are told police are investigating this as an accident. tze (zee) was a junior, working towards a degree in computer science. ( terisa ) police are looking for three people in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping. it happened saturday night on the 63-hundred block of international boulevard.. that's just a few blocks away

from greenleaf elementary school. police tell us a woman was assaulted and kidnapped around 10 saturday night. she later escaped. the victim suffered brusing, swelling and a minor cut. ( terisa ) a man's ashes stolen from the trunk of a rental car in san francisco are now back with the family this morning. joe wilkinson's wife mary and daughter julia traveled to san francisco to celebrate the birthday of their late husband and father. they planned to spread his ashes in the redwood national park. but before they could, the ashes were stolen. the family told us the ashes were taken from the trunk of their rental car parked at fisherman's wharf. the two pleaded for their return last week. the ashes were returned yesterday to the family. ( james ) happening right now...police are searching for two gunmen after a shooting at a house party in vallejo. 9 minors were injured in the shooting. this happened just after midnight sunday morning at a home on calhoun street near benson

of committing several burglaries. they say he hid the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts yesterday. police found sean o'donnel robertson at a storage facility. after searching robertson, officers say they also found drugs. police say robertson's storage locker and his car contained about 2-thousand dollars worth of stolen propterty. most of the stolen property has been returned to the victims. ( terisa ) a man is rescued from a sewer system in san francisco after he says he got lost and ended up in the sewer. it happened yesterday morning on berry street in the city's mission bay neighborhood. after getting lost the man started yelling for help. a police officer heard him through a sewer grate and called for a crew to get him out. the rescue took about 30 minutes. the man is expected to be o-k. ( terisa ) united airlines is changing its policy after a man was violently dragged off a plane. the company says it will now require staff and crew to check in at least 60 minutes

( terisa ) in the south bay... a man is arrested and accused of stealing a signed football by n-f-l legend jerry rice in milpitas. patrick van lam turned himself in on saturday. police say the 45-year-old worked with at least one other person to steal the ball from a charity auction for special needs orphans in china. the event was held at a restaurant over a week ago. jerry rice donated an autographed football that sold for 35-hundred dollars. charity officials say van lam claims he asked to take the football and one of the event

( james ) happening today... local officials are breaking ground at concord bart station for its plaza renovation project. this is a look at what the finished product is expected to look like. the project is upgrading pedestrian crosswalks, pathways and bicycle routes. construction will begin on the west side plaza and parking lot to provide improved pedestrian and bicycle connection between the bart station and todos santos plaza in downtown concord. it is expected to be completed by 20-18. south bay... two people are in critical condition this morning after an explosion inside a san jose motel room. it happened just after midnight yesterday at the casa linda motel.

fire fighters were able to put out the fire in less than an hour. two adults were taken to the hospital, but not other information has been released about them. fire officials are considering the explosion suspicious and are working to determine what caused the explosion. happening now... police are looking for a driver who hit and killed two horses in sonoma county. police posted this picture of the two horses killed. it happened early saturday morning near the corner of minnesota and rose avenues in penngrove. the driver lost control of their car and slammed into a barn where the mini horses were kept. the driver then fled the scene. c-h-p are now looking for a honda with major damage. worked to extinguish the flames and rescue the victim. the victim is a man in his 20's. he is suffering from severe burns and extensive trauma. the cause of the crash is currently under investigation. ( james ) police in santa clara arrested a man suspected of committing several burglaries. they say the suspect stored the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts yesterday. they then rushed to a storage facility on lafayette street. that is where police found sean o'donnel robertson. after searching robertson, officers found drugs. robertson's storage locker and his car contained about 2-thousand dollars worth of stolen propterty. most of the stolen property has been returned to the victims. a man somehow gets into the sewer system in san francisco and then gets lost. he then had to be rescued. fortunately he was not hurt. it happened yesterday morning on berry street in the city's mission bay neighborhood. after getting lost the man started

yelling for help. a police officer heard him through a sewer grate and called for a crew to help get him out. the rescue took about 30 minutes. the incident temporarily shut down berry street yester day morning. the san bernardino elementary school where two people were killed last week will reopen this morning. a vigil was held over the weekend for the special needs teacher who was killed. karen smith was one of two people murdered at north park elementary school last monday. smith was killed by her estranged husband 53-year-old cedric anderson. police say anderson walked into her classroom and opened fire... killing smith, and an eight-year-old student. a nine-year-old student is home recovering from his injuries. smith was a mother of four adult children including her daughter... who is also a teacher. protests. police say they even seized a stun gun and a can filled with concrete. a group of president trump supporters and a group opposing the president clashed at civic center park on saturday. 11 people were injured and seven of those people were taken to hospitals. none of the businesses in the area reported being damaged. police say they expect to make more arrests once they review video and other posts made on social media. ( james ) in the south bay... a man is arrested and accused of stealing a signed football by n-f-l legend jerry rice in milpitas. patrick van lam turned himself in on saturday. police say the 45-year-old worked with at least one other person to steal the ball from a charity auction for special needs orphans in china. the event was held at a restaurant over a week ago. jerry rice donated an autographed football that sold for 35-hundred dollars. charity officials say van lam claims he asked to take the football and one of the event organizers told him he could have it.

overnight... vice president mike pence with a warning for north korea. the vice president visited the demilitarized zone between north and south korea earlier today. he stood less than 100 yards from the north korean border. he also told reporters "all options are on the table"... when it comes to the effort to rid the korean peninsula of nuclear weapons. the vice president's visit comes just one day after a missile test failed in north korea. ( james ) vincente fox has the story. colorado was the place maria de jesus sanchez called home for 18 years. but in a flash, everything changed. on wednesday, sanchez was arrested at a deportation hearing in centennial. her attorney says she was trying to do the right thing.jennifer kain-rios/immigration attorney: "she wanted to make sure that if she complied with her obligations -- she knew that if she didn't, ice would come looking for her ending up at her house, traumatizing her children."border patrol agents first arrested sanchez trying to cross the border illegally in 2001.in 2012, she was arrested again -this time in aurora - after a traffic stop.

( james ) deputies are looking for the person who beat up a gay man last weekend near u-c santa barbara. it happened during gay pride week in the city of isla vista. the man says he was attacked after a basketball game. he was punched in the face after a man referenced his sexual orientation. the victim says he broke his jaw and had to have surgery. police are investigating this attack as a hate crime. ( terisa ) lettuce may cost you more the next time you visit a grocery store. heavy winter rains have caused a lettuce shortage and áyou're paying for it. at the beginning of the year lettuce prices were much lower. a case cost 20 bucks. now prices have nearly tripled. the rain made it harder for farmers to plant and harvest their crop. while the price hike may be hurting shoppers farmers say they are benefiting from the lettuce shortage. farmers say the increased prices now will help them cover the costs when the market is poor.
