morning. a u-c berkeley student has died after falling from a third story balcony. coroners identified the victim as 21-year-old kimberly tze (zee) of elk grove. it happened just after midnight yesterday, near the corner of dwight way and college avenue... just four blocks campus. she was a junior at the school and was finishing up her degree in computer science. witnesses spoke to kron four about their shock over what happened. ( james ) at the moment, police are investigating this as a tragic accident. tze was a junior at uc berkeley where she was finishing up her degree in computer science. ( james ) elsewhere in the east bay... police are looking for three people in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping. it happened saturday night on the 63-hundred block of international boulevard.. that's just a few blocks away from greenleaf elementary

school. police tell us a woman was assaulted and kidnapped around 10 p-m. she later escaped. investigators say she suffered bruising, swelling and a minor cut from the attack. ( james ) at least 20 people are under arrest in connection with violence at a protest between a group of anti and pro president trump demonstrators in berkeley. these are some of the weapons officers confiscated on your screen. police say they even seized a stun gun and a concrete-filled can. the two groups clashed at civic center park saturday. 11 people were injured and seven of those people were taken to hospitals. none of the businesses in the area reported being damaged. police say they expect to make more arrests once they review video and social media evidence. ( james ) police are on the hunt for gunmen in connection with a shooting at a house party in valejo. 9 minors were injured in the shooting. this happened just after midnight sunday morning at a home on calhoun street near benson avenue. officers say a

group of teens were gathered outside the home. that's when they say a car carrying two people in ski masks shot at the house. four people were shot. five others suffered other injuries. police say all nine people are under 18 years old and were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. there is no clear description of the car or the shooters. stolen from the trunk of a rental car in san francisco are now back with the family this morning. joe wilkinson's wife mary and daughter julia traveled to san francisco to celebrate the birthday of their late husband and father. they planned to spread his ashes in the redwood national park. but before they could, the ashes were stolen. the family told us the ashes were taken from the trunk of their rental car parked at fisherman's wharf. the two pleaded for their return last week. the ashes were returned yesterday to the family. ( james ) the special needs teacher shot and killed at a san bernardino school was rembered in a vigil. karen smith was one of three people who died at north park elementary school last week. police say she was killed by her estranged husband 53- year-old cedric anderson. police say anderson walked into her classroom and opened fire. killing smith, and an eight-year-old student.

a nine-year-old student is home recovering from his injuries. smith was a mother of four adult children. including her daughter who's also a teacher. ( james ) north park elementary school is expected to re-open this morning. ( james ) a plane is forced to make an emergency landing at s-f-o. airport officials say the plane was on its way to kona international airport on hawaii's big island when it was forced to turn around. the plane was safely on the ground around late yesterday morning. an airlines spokeswoman says there was a mechanical problem. ( james ) police in santa clara arrest a man suspected of committing several burglaries. they say he hid the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts yesterday. police found sean o'donnel robertson at a storage facility. after searching robertson, officers say they also found drugs. police say robertson's storage locker and his car contained about 2-thousand dollars worth of stolen propterty. most of the stolen property has been returned ( james ) the stakes are

( james ) in national headlines. police are investigating how a one- year-old boy wound up dead at a daycare in michigan. a mother says she found her son korey unresponsive inside a "pack 'n play". she says her son had bruising and what appeared to be human bites on his body. the daycare claims it does not know what happened to korey. the daycare has been licensed and in operation since november of last year. its online record shows no violations. police have not yet released anymore information about the investigation this morning. ( james ) united airlines is making a policy change after one of its passengers was dragged off a plane. last week, doctor david dao was forced out of his seat

because a crew member needed it. the 69-year-old says he suffered a concussion, a broken nose, broke a couple of teeth, has damage to his sinuses and might need reconstructive surgery. he's planning to file a lawsuit against united. the airline says it will now require staff and crew to check in at least 60 minutes before a flight. the airlines wants to avoid future backlash when it asks passengers to give up their seat for a united worker. it is legal to bump a ticket- holding customer off a flight, but typically not once they've already boarded. united says this policy will ensure employees are seated before the plane fills up. more than 100 kids with special needs and their families came out for a large easter egg hunt sunday in oregon. smiling kids raced across the golf course as the hunt began. the mobility impaired golf association provides also free golf lessons for kids with disabilities. other community groups began their hunger strike, dubbed "fast for renters' rights," on friday and series of vigils to pressure the san jose city council to pass a number of tenant protections at its meeting tomorrow. the hunger strike began friday night at the san jose city hall.

( james ) a u-c berkeley student has died after falling from a third story balcony. coroners identified the victim as 21-year-old kimberly tze (zee) of elk grove. it happened just after midnight yesterday, near the corner of dwight way and college avenue... just a few blocks from campus. witnesses spoke to kron four about the shock of what happened. ( james ) we are told police are investigating this as an accident. tze (zee) was a junior, working towards a degree in computer science. ( terisa ) police are looking for three people in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping. it happened saturday night on the 63-hundred block of international boulevard.. that's just a few blocks away

from greenleaf elementary school. police tell us a woman was assaulted and kidnapped around 10 saturday night. she later escaped. the victim suffered brusing, swelling and a minor cut. ( terisa ) a man's ashes stolen from the trunk of a rental car in san francisco are now back with the family this morning. joe wilkinson's wife mary and daughter julia traveled to san francisco to celebrate the birthday of their late husband and father. they planned to spread his ashes in the redwood national park. but before they could, the ashes were stolen. the family told us the ashes were taken from the trunk of their rental car parked at fisherman's wharf. the two pleaded for their return last week. the ashes were returned yesterday to the family. ( james ) happening right now...police are searching for two gunmen after a shooting at a house party in vallejo. 9 minors were injured in the shooting. this happened just after midnight sunday morning at a home on calhoun street near benson

avenue. officers say a group of teens were gathered outside the home. a car carrying two people in ski masks started shooting at the house. four people were shot. five others suffered other injuries. police say all nine people are under 18 years old and were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. there is no description of the car or the shooters. ( terisa ) happening now... a manhunt is underway across several states for the man accused of killing an elderly man and posting the video on facebook.( james ) police say he posted it with a caption "easter day slaughter" reid binion has the story. chief calvin williams / cleveland police: "i mean what happened today is senseless." cleveland police chief calvin williams -- speaking to the media after officials say steve stephens killed an elderly man, recorded the crime --- then uploaded the

video to facebook.chief calvin williams / cleveland police: "i know steve that you have a relationship with some of our clergy out here in northeast ohio, i encourage you to give them a call and talk to them and then call us and turn yourself in."an arrest warrant has been issued for aggravated murder......after stephens allegedly targeted 74-year-old robert godwin at random -- shooting him to death.police say they learned about the killing from callers outside the cleveland area who had seen video of the shooting on facebook.the video reportedly shows a gun being pointed at a man's head and then fired.the victim -- falling to the ground.unidentified witness: "and he drove off and i started screaming. i know he heard me screaming. and i looked across the street, and the sun led me to - i saw blood."godwin was reportedly walking home after celebrating easter with his family.robert godwin jr: "this man right here was a good man and i hate that he's gone. you know what i mean. i don't know what i'm going to do. it's not real!" an emergency landing at s-f-o. airport officials say the plane was on its way to kona international airport on hawaii's big island when it was forced to turn around. the plane was safely on the ground around late yesterday morning. an airlines spokeswoman says there was a mechanical problem. ( james ) starting today...more than 6-thousand parents, students and teachers will bike to school in san francisco. more than 90 schools are participating in "bike and roll to school week." according to organizers... the event is meant to celebrate and encourage healthy living. students in san francisco who participate will win prizes. this is the 9th year that the city has held the event. ( james ) police in santa clara arrest a man suspected

of committing several burglaries. they say he hid the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts yesterday. police found sean o'donnel robertson at a storage facility. after searching robertson, officers say they also found drugs. police say robertson's storage locker and his car contained about 2-thousand dollars worth of stolen propterty. most of the stolen property has been returned to the victims. ( terisa ) a man is rescued from a sewer system in san francisco after he says he got lost and ended up in the sewer. it happened yesterday morning on berry street in the city's mission bay neighborhood. after getting lost the man started yelling for help. a police officer heard him through a sewer grate and called for a crew to get him out. the rescue took about 30 minutes. the man is expected to be o-k. ( terisa ) united airlines is changing its policy after a man was violently dragged off a plane. the company says it will now require staff and crew to check in at least 60 minutes

before a flight. that - after the passenger was forced off the flight, united said it needed the seat for a crew member. it is legal to bump a ticket-holding customer off a flight, but typically not once they've already boarded. united says this policy will ensure a crew member is seated before the plane fills up. lawyers for the passenger who was dragged off the flight says he plans to file a lawsuit against united. ( james ) happening today. new details on prince's death investigation are expected to be made public. it's been nearly one year since prince died. back in 20-16, a medical examiner said prince died of an accidental drug overdose. today search warrants related to the singer's death investigation will be unsealed. this likely includes a warrant from the first search of paisley park...prince's suburban minneapolis estate. ( james ) at least 20 people are arrested in connection with a violent protest between a group of protestors in berkeley. these are some of the weapons officers confiscated during the protests. police say they even seized a stun gun

and a can filled with concrete. a group of president trump supporters and a group opposing the president clashed at civic center park on saturday. 11 people were injured and seven of those people were taken to hospitals. none of the businesses in the area reported being damaged. police say they expect to make more arrests once they review video and other posts made on social media. ( terisa ) in the south bay... a man is arrested and accused of stealing a signed football by n-f-l legend jerry rice in milpitas. patrick van lam turned himself in on saturday. police say the 45-year-old worked with at least one other person to steal the ball from a charity auction for special needs orphans in china. the event was held at a restaurant over a week ago. jerry rice donated an autographed football that sold for 35-hundred dollars. charity officials say van lam claims he asked to take the football and one of the event

organizers told him he could have it. ( terisa ) milpitas police say they are still looking for other persons of interest. the director of the charity behind the auction says they are not looking to press charges. jerry rice has offered to sign another ball. ( james ) in the east bay... investigators are looking into what caused dozens of cars to catch fire. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. the fire broke out at a business called "insurance auto auction" on stevenson boulevard in fremont started around 4 saturday afternoon. the fire spread quickly from car to car. 35 cars were destroyed.

( james )(áááboxesááá) bart and concord city officials will start renovating the bart station this morning. the renovations are designed to connect the station to downtown. a path will be put there so it is easier for pedestrians and cyclists to get to the station. more lights will also be put around the station so it's easier for those traveling at night. the renovations cost more than six million dollars. a ground breaking ceremony will be held at 10 this morning. ( terisa ) the san bernardino elementary school where two people were killed last week will reopen this morning. a vigil was held over the weekend for the special needs teacher who was killed. karen smith was one of two people murdered at north park elementary school last monday. smith was killed by her estranged husband 53-year-old cedric anderson. police say anderson walked into her classroom and opened fire... killing smith, and an eight-year-old student. a nine-year-old student is home recovering from his injuries. smith was a mother of four

adult children including her daughter... who is also a teacher.

( terisa ) vincente fox has the story. colorado was the place maria de jesus sanchez called home for 18 years. but in a flash, everything changed. on wednesday, sanchez was arrested at a deportation hearing in centennial. her attorney says she was trying to do the right thing.jennifer kain-rios/immigration attorney:

"she wanted to make sure that if she complied with her obligations -- she knew that if she didn't, ice would come looking for her ending up at her house, traumatizing her children."border patrol agents first arrested sanchez trying to cross the border illegally in 2001.in 2012, she was arrested again -this time in aurora - after a traffic stop. ice had allowed her to stay, but that changed this year when immigration laws were tightened. jennifer kain- rios/immigration attorney:"the denial of the stay of removal had no explanation whatsoever. in previous years, the approvals for stays of removal explained all the reasons why she should be able to remain in the u.s. despite the problems in her immigration history."sanchez is a mother of four and had hoped to take sanctuary at a church in denver.like the first unitarian where jeanette vizguerra, another undocumented immigrant has been staying for two months. vizguerra told us she fell to pieces when sanchez came

asking for help. jeannette vizguerra/undocumented immigrant:"my heart is broke. it's the same as my family." but first unitarian wouldn't take sanchez. neither would another sanctuary church in the denver area. first unitarian pastor mike morran says more sanctuaries are needed.voice of pastor mike morran/first unitarian church of denver:"oh my goodness, yes, there are so many more spaces needed. i know of at least five other congregations that are thinking about sanctuary or moving towards offering sanctuary, but are just not physically ready yet." two churches are already housing undocumented immigrants in the denver area. morran says several others are hoping to do the same. and prevent other people like sanchez from being separated from their families. ( terisa ) deputies are looking for the person who beat up a gay man last weekend near u-c santa barbara. it happened during gay pride week in the city of isla vista. the man says he was attacked after a basketball game.

he was punched in the face after a man referenced his sexual orientation. the victim says he broke his jaw and had to have surgery. police are investigating this attack as a hate crime. ( james ) a mother is pleading with police to find out how her one-year-old baby died at a daycare in michigan. a mother says she found her son korey unresponsive inside a "pack 'n play". she says her son had bruising and what appeared to be human bites on his body. the daycare claims it does not know what happened to the baby. police say they are looking into the baby's death and are waiting for an autopsy to determine how the baby died. ( terisa ) more americans may soon be able to vote. lawmakers in more than a dozen states are trying to lower the voting age. it's part of an effort to increase voter participation by targeting young people. california lawmakers are pushing a bill to lower the voting age to 17. they believe it will give a voice to more people affected by the outcome of elections. nearly 500 pieces of legislation have

been introduced this year to make voting easier. other states are trying to tighten voting rules by requiring a photo i-d at the polls. ( james ) happening now... hundreds of thousands of people are lining the streets of boston for the annual boston marathon. this is the 121st year that the race has been run. this year police are using drones to help keep an eye on the race. this is the first time the race has been run since the marathon bombing in 20-13. three people were killed and more than 200 others were injured in that attack. ( rob ) silicon valley renters rights coalition and other community groups began their hunger strike, dubbed "fast for renters' rights," on friday and series of vigils to pressure the san jose city council to pass a number of tenant protections at its meeting tomorrow. the hunger strike began friday night at the san jose city hall.

from a third story balcony. coroners identified the victim as 21-year-old kimberly tze (zee) of elk grove. it happened just after midnight yesterday, near the corner of dwight way and college avenue... just a few blocks from campus. witnesses spoke to kron four about the shock of what happened. ( james ) we are told police are investigating this as an accident. tze (zee) was a junior, working towards a degree in computer science. happening this morning - police are looking for three people in connection with a sexual assault and kidnapping. it happened saturday night on the 63-hundred block of international boulevard.. that's just a few blocks away from greenleaf elementary school. police tell us a woman was assaulted and kidnapped around 10 p-m. she later escaped. the victim suffered brusing, swelling and a minor cut.

a man's ashes stolen from the trunk of a rental car in san francisco are now back with the family this morning. joe wilkinson's wife mary and daughter julia traveled to san francisco to celebrate the birthday of their late husband and father. they planned to spread his ashes in the redwood national park. but before they could, the ashes were stolen. the family told us the ashes were taken from the trunk of their rental car parked at fisherman's wharf. the two pleaded for their return last week. the ashes were returned yesterday to the family. ( james ) happening right now...police are searching for two gunmen after a shooting at a house party in vallejo. 9 minors were injured in the shooting. this happened just after midnight sunday morning at a home on calhoun street near benson avenue. officers say a group of teens were gathered outside the home. a car carrying two people in ski masks started shooting at the house. four people were shot. five others suffered

other injuries. police say all nine people are under 18 years old and were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries. there is no description of the car or the shooters. ( james ) a massive manhunt is underway in cleveland for a man accused of killing an elderly man and posting video of it on facebook. police say steve stevens shot and killed 74-year-old robert godwin. police found out about the murder after people reported seeing video of it on facebook. stevens posted the video with a caption that said "easter day slaughter." family members say godwin was walking home after celebrating easter when he was killed. ( james ) facebook took down the video after it was posted yesterday afternoon. stephens said in a different video that he has killed several other people. police say that as of right now there is no

evidence that he killed any other people. stephens is considered armed and dangerous. there is a manhunt for him that spans several states. a plane is forced to make an emergency landing at s-f-o. airport officials say the plane was on its way to kona international airport on hawaii's big island when it was forced to turn around. the plane was safely on the ground around late yesterday morning. an airlines spokeswoman says there was a mechanical problem. the golden state warriors take game one in the first round of the n-b-a playoffs.( james ) the portland trail blazers kept it close for the majority of the game... oakland native damian lillard and c-j mccollum scored a combined 75-points. but the warriors high powered offense along with a stellar performance by draymond green was too much for the trail blazers. green finished the game with 19-points, 12 rebounds and one assist shy of a triple double. and on

the defensive end he had multiple key blocks and steals to help the warriors take game one. the dubs won 121 to 109. here is what head coach steve kerr and green had to game. ( james ) happening today... local officials are breaking ground at concord bart station for its plaza renovation project. this is a look at what the finished product is expected to look like. the project is upgrading pedestrian crosswalks, pathways and bicycle routes. construction will begin on the west side plaza and parking lot to provide improved pedestrian and bicycle connection between the bart station and todos santos plaza in downtown concord. it is expected to be completed by 20-18. south bay... two people are in critical condition this morning after an explosion inside a san jose motel room. it happened just after midnight yesterday at the casa linda motel.

fire fighters were able to put out the fire in less than an hour. two adults were taken to the hospital, but not other information has been released about them. fire officials are considering the explosion suspicious and are working to determine what caused the explosion. happening now... police are looking for a driver who hit and killed two horses in sonoma county. police posted this picture of the two horses killed. it happened early saturday morning near the corner of minnesota and rose avenues in penngrove. the driver lost control of their car and slammed into a barn where the mini horses were kept. the driver then fled the scene. c-h-p are now looking for a honda with major damage. ( james ) a man is severely injured in menlo park after his car slammed into a tree and caught fire. it happened around 4:30 yesterday morning morning on sand hill road. firefighters quickly

worked to extinguish the flames and rescue the victim. the victim is a man in his 20's. he is suffering from severe burns and extensive trauma. the cause of the crash is currently under investigation. ( james ) police in santa clara arrested a man suspected of committing several burglaries. they say the suspect stored the stolen property in a storage unit. officers received a tip of the suspect's whereabouts yesterday. they then rushed to a storage facility on lafayette street. that is where police found sean o'donnel robertson. after searching robertson, officers found drugs. robertson's storage locker and his car contained about 2-thousand dollars worth of stolen propterty. most of the stolen property has been returned to the victims. a man somehow gets into the sewer system in san francisco and then gets lost. he then had to be rescued. fortunately he was not hurt. it happened yesterday morning on berry street in the city's mission bay neighborhood. after getting lost the man started

yelling for help. a police officer heard him through a sewer grate and called for a crew to help get him out. the rescue took about 30 minutes. the incident temporarily shut down berry street yester day morning. the san bernardino elementary school where two people were killed last week will reopen this morning. a vigil was held over the weekend for the special needs teacher who was killed. karen smith was one of two people murdered at north park elementary school last monday. smith was killed by her estranged husband 53-year-old cedric anderson. police say anderson walked into her classroom and opened fire... killing smith, and an eight-year-old student. a nine-year-old student is home recovering from his injuries. smith was a mother of four adult children including her daughter... who is also a teacher. ( james ) president trump's proposed border wall could leave some american's on the "mexican side." it would technically be on u-s soil, but outside of a barrier built north of the river

separating the two countries. that is according to leaders with the "texis civil rights project." people could lose their poperty. those who that already lost some for an existing fence are already preparing for a new battle. even if they don't win, lawyers hope to tie up the wall in court long enough that politics could stop it, either in congress or after another election. ( james ) new this morning... states are beginning to outline new ways to evaluate their schools. it mixes traditional measures like test scores with things like physical fitness and whether children feel safe in school. the plans are required under a new federal education law that takes effect in the coming school year. other measures being considered look at how often students miss school, how prepared kids are for college and whether the school is a welcoming environment. it is legal to bump a ticket- holding customer off a flight, but typically not once they've already boarded. united says this policy will ensure a crew member is seated before the plane fills up.( james ) lawyers for the passenger who was dragged off the flight says he plans to file a lawsuit against united. ( james ) happening today... new details on legendary singer prince's death investigation are expected to be made public. it's been nearly one year since prince died. back in 20-16, a medical examiner said prince died of an accidental drug overdose.( james ) today search warrants related to the singer's death investigation will be unsealed. this likely includes a warrant from the first search of paisley park. that is prince's suburban minneapolis estate. protests. police say they even seized a stun gun and a can filled with concrete. a group of president trump supporters and a group opposing the president clashed at civic center park on saturday. 11 people were injured and seven of those people were taken to hospitals. none of the businesses in the area reported being damaged. police say they expect to make more arrests once they review video and other posts made on social media. ( james ) in the south bay... a man is arrested and accused of stealing a signed football by n-f-l legend jerry rice in milpitas. patrick van lam turned himself in on saturday. police say the 45-year-old worked with at least one other person to steal the ball from a charity auction for special needs orphans in china. the event was held at a restaurant over a week ago. jerry rice donated an autographed football that sold for 35-hundred dollars. charity officials say van lam claims he asked to take the football and one of the event organizers told him he could have it.

whether he could have the ball and then he heard that just go ahead to take it. but this is definitely not true. he saw him and then he told him that is not your ball just put it down.>( james ) milpitas police say they are still looking for other persons of interest. the director of the charity behind the auction says they are not looking to press charges. jerry rice has offered to sign another ball. in the east bay... investigators are looking into what caused dozens of cars to catch fire. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. the fire at "insurance auto auction" on stevenson boulevard in fremont started around 4 saturday afternoon. the fire spread quickly from car to car. 35 cars were destroyed. overnight... vice president mike pence with a warning for north korea. the vice president visited the demilitarized zone between north and south korea earlier today. he stood less than 100 yards from the north korean border. he also told reporters "all options are on the table"... when it comes to the effort to rid the korean peninsula of nuclear weapons. the vice president's visit comes just one day after a missile test failed in north korea. ( james ) the stakes are high. that's how the president's national security adviser is describing the situation in afghanistan. general h-r mcmaster says the president will have a number of options on what to do next. this comes less than a week after the military dropped "the mother of all bombs" on afghanistan. that air-strike killed 94 isis militants. now the u-s is reviewing its strategy going

forward in the fight against isis. officials say there could be a stronger military presence in the country. an update to a story we've been following on the kron4 moring news. an undocumented mother in denver who was trying to protect her four children by seeking sanctuary at a local church..has been deported. ( james ) vincente fox has the story. colorado was the place maria de jesus sanchez called home for 18 years. but in a flash, everything changed. on wednesday, sanchez was arrested at a deportation hearing in centennial. her attorney says she was trying to do the right thing.jennifer kain-rios/immigration attorney: "she wanted to make sure that if she complied with her obligations -- she knew that if she didn't, ice would come looking for her ending up at her house, traumatizing her children."border patrol agents first arrested sanchez trying to cross the border illegally in 2001.in 2012, she was arrested again -this time in aurora - after a traffic stop.

ice had allowed her to stay, but that changed this year when immigration laws were tightened. jennifer kain- rios/immigration attorney:"the denial of the stay of removal had no explanation whatsoever. in previous years, the approvals for stays of removal explained all the reasons why she should be able to remain in the u.s. despite the problems in her immigration history."sanchez is a mother of four and had hoped to take sanctuary at a church in denver.like the first unitarian where jeanette vizguerra, another undocumented immigrant has been staying for two months. vizguerra told us she fell to pieces when sanchez came asking for help. jeannette vizguerra/undocumented immigrant:"my heart is broke. it's the same as my family." but first unitarian wouldn't take sanchez. neither would another sanctuary church in the denver area. first unitarian pastor mike morran says more sanctuaries are needed.voice of pastor mike morran/first unitarian church of denver:"oh my goodness, yes, there are so many more

spaces needed. i know of at least five other congregations that are thinking about sanctuary or moving towards offering sanctuary, but are just not physically ready yet." two churches are already housing undocumented immigrants in the denver area. morran says several others are hoping to do the same. and prevent other people like sanchez from being separated from their families. ( james ) deputies are looking for the person who beat up a gay man last weekend near u-c santa barbara. it happened during gay pride week in the city of isla vista. the man says he was attacked after a basketball game. he was punched in the face after a man referenced his sexual orientation. the victim says he broke his jaw and had to have surgery. police are investigating this attack as a hate crime. ( terisa ) lettuce may cost you more the next time you visit a grocery store. heavy winter rains have caused a lettuce shortage and áyou're paying for it. at the beginning of the year lettuce prices were much lower. a case cost 20 bucks. now prices have nearly tripled. the rain made it harder for farmers to plant and harvest their crop. while the price hike may be hurting shoppers farmers say they are benefiting from the lettuce shortage. farmers say the increased prices now will help them cover the costs when the market is poor.
