( james ) the gruesome killing of a man on facebook is the latest in a string being posted to facebook or unfolding on facebook live, their real-time streaming video feature. over the last year there has been has been a growing number of videos showing murder, sexual assault, suicides and torture. kron 4's tech reporter gabe slate says facebook doesn't want you to see these in your feed.. but they don't want to censor either. here's what they are doing trying to walk on that fine line. facebook posted on their blog
4:49 am
that this latest video of a murder of an elderly man in cleveland over the weekend has no place on their social network and goes against their policy and everything they stand for. they also laid out the timeline of when the videos were posted, flagged, and ultimately removedthey got the videos off within 3 hours of them being posted but in this connected world.. that might as well have been days right now facebook is dependent on people flagging videos like this, they review, then take action they also have thousands of people across the globe they call content monitors looking for inappropriate videos.they are working on employing artificial intelligence across the network to discover these videos and automatically remove them but that is still a work in progress. facebook said after this terrible series of events they are reviewing how things are reported and flagged and if there is something they can do to improve the system but for now all their actions take place after a video is posted. anyone can post anything the only way to truly prevent these types of videos is for them to review videos before
4:50 am
they are posted or streamed live.so this is a big question for society for you the facebook user would you be ok posting a video and having to wait for facebook to approve it before it pops up on your friends feeds? are you willing to be censored? this is the challenge facebook and other social networks are facing.. ( james ) a santa clara county judge has dismissed a rape charge against former san francisco 49ers defensive lineman ray mcdonald. prosecutors say the woman who made the allegations is refusing to testify. the woman said she injured her head after slipping and falling on a pool deck at mcdonald's home back in 20-14. she accused mcdonald of carrying her inside his san jose home and assaulting her.
