( james ) two people are in critical condition after a double shooting in the east bay.... and the gunman is still at large this morning. this happened around 7:30 last night near the corner of meekland and medford avenues. police believe this was a drive-by shooting. when officers got to the scene they found two male victims sitting in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. they were taken to the hospital and, again, are listed in critical condition. police have not yet released a description of the shooters or the getaway vehicle. ( james ) bart says it has video of a mob teens robbing passengers, but it's not releasing it. no arrests have been made in saturday's attack which left two people injured. we're hearing from a former bart police chief who says the agency should show the public what happened. kron four's j-r

stone reports. pam, i talked with former bart chief gary gee and former fbi special agent rick smith. together they have around 60 years of experience. bart mob attack last saturday in oakland.safeway mob burglary grab last month in san francisco.carnival mob attack last month in oakland.former fbi special agent rick smith says we are seeing a change. rick smithsot i don't think it's a good sign of the times i think a lot of this stuff happens because i think there is no consequence. it needs to be a multifaceted approach to a real problem and that is an increase in low level crime. if it is allowed to happen more serious things are going to happen.in the bart mob attack on saturday 6 out of the 9 train cars had working cameras. there were also multiple working cameras at the coliseum station. bart says state law doesn't allow them to release the video because the suspects appear to be juveniles. former bart police chief gary gee says the fact that they aren't or are unable to release video or pictures is certainly out of the ordinary.gary geesot i know you don't release photos of minors of who you have identified and are in custody but if you have a crime in

progressand you see this all the time where gangs of juveniles will attack a store in the mall and gang up on innocent customers and all thatthose videos become public and no faces are hidden there so i was surprised that bart would be hesitant to release those videos because minors might be involved.gee says the bart mob attack is the first of it's kind on a public transit system on the west coast. smith, who is now a private investigator after his fbi days, believes there is a sense of lawlessness out there and believes these crimes will continue to happen until prop 47 is thrown out and low level crime offenders are punished. as for the criminals involved in the mob attacks.rick smithsot punks, they are just punks. i mean look what type of courage does it take to be one of 60 kids

( james ) some bart board members are voicing their concerns and suggesting how to better protect passengers. there were two bart officers at the coliseum station when the robberies happened but they were in the parking lot... not on the station platform. so board members say officers should be strategically positioned in prominent places. they say that would deter criminals and give riders peace of mind. many of the passengers we spoke to say they want to see more visible police:

( james ) a boys and girls club director faces child endangerment charges this morning. police say he posted a 6-year-old girl's photo and information on an internet child pornography chat room. 22-year-old benjamin goerke was arrested monday in rohnert park. the u-s department of homeland security identified the post and notified the city's department of public safety. officials traced the information to goerke who later admitted to taking pictures of the girl and accessing her information through the organization's network. goerke posted bail yesterday. he will be arraigned on friday. ( james ) a gunman is on the loose after a shooting near a south bay mall. it happened near the eastridge mall in san jose. this is

a picture from the scene. police say the shooting happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon on quimby road. a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. he is recovering at the hospital this morning. there is no descirption of the shooter. ( james ) police have released the mug shot of a man accused of trying to kidnap a woman in san francisco. the suspect, darrin bravo is accused of trying to grab a woman and get her into his car on steiner street saturday night. witnesses intervened and the suspect got away. bravo was caught the next day in sonoma county. he was taken into custody and now faces attempted kidnapping charges. ( james ) happening now. san francisco officials are questioning p-g-and-e on their emergency preparedness following last week's massive power outage. the city sent a letter to the company asking for more information about the condition of its aging infrastructure. the letter also included questions about whether p-g-and-e plans to repair and upgrade its larkin street substation. the substation caught fire on

friday, effecting 88-thousand people. three- hundred traffic lights and the montgomery bart station were shutdown. a number of businesses and schools were also forced to close. ( james ) breaking news from overnight... police in paris arrest nearly a dozen people for the deadly attack at charlie hebdo magazine. that attack happened back in january of 2015. 17 people were killed in the attack. this morning 10 people have been arrested for providing weapons to at least one of the three attackers. all three of the terrorists were killed in shootouts with police following the attacks. shutdown. the deadline is friday but the white house is sending mixed messages on one of the biggest hurdles to passing that bill. karin caifa explains. theres been a 'flood the zone' approach by the white house this week - trying to show action and motion on a number of fronts.but perhaps the most important motion in washington this week will be avoiding a government shutdown.a congressional source says congressional republicans have privately proposed a funding bill that does not have funding for the presidents border wall -- showing they're not worried about bucking the president to get a deal done. with just days left for congress to pass a funding bill and avoid a government shutdown...the white house -- sending mixed messages on what could be a major sticking point ..funding for trump's long-promised border wall. president donald trump: the wall will get built, folks, in case anybody has any questions. the wall is going to get built.monday night - there were signs the president may be willing to back off the idea of funding for the wall in this particular bill --

shooter. a federal judge in san francisco has blocked an executive order by president trump that would have withheld money from sanctuary cities and counties. san francisco and santa clara counties sued over the order. the counties both faced losing nearly two-billion dollars. the ruling yesterday determined that the president does not have the authority to attach new conditions to federal spending. if the case is appealed, it will go before the 9th circuit court in san francisco. over the past ten days, 5 people in santa rosa have died from apparent drug overdoses. 3 men and 2 women, ages 27-66. the sonoma county sheriff's office says that 3 of the victims died in public places.sottoxicology tests on the victims showed they all had heroin in their systems but it's highly unusual for so many people to die from overdoses in such a short period of time in the same area. authorities suspect the victims may have gotten the heroin from the same source and that the drugs may have been tainted.sotthe concern now is that more people may use heroin from that tainted batch and authorities are hoping to warn the public before it's too

( james ) a task force ( james ) a task force was created to gather ideas and suggestions and bring them to district staff.. the district says it wants to help students feel like they can come forward to report these types of incidents. one of two student groups behind ann coulter's u-c berkeley speech that was originally scheduled for tomorrow is now backing out. the young america's foundation says they are not participating amid safety concerns. the group says the university has not ensured protection from violent protesters. the berkeley college republicans invited coulter to speak but the university wanted to move the date to may 2nd. . . to what it called a secure location. the group then responded by filing a lawsuit to try and keep the thursday date.

coulter originally said that she still planned to speak tomorrow but yesterday she took to twitter saying that she had not spoken to any students at the university about when and where she would speak. ( james ) police are searching for the person who torched a car in vacaville and now it is being investigated as a hate crime. investigators say k-k-k was spray painted on the car before it was lit on fire. it happened around monday night on william street in downtown vacaville. police say the owner of the car does not know why he was targeted. ( james ) parking in the bay area is sometimes restricted to certain zones... depending on where you are. the red zone is no parking, a yellow zone means commercial loading and the white zone is loading and unloading of passengers only. but kron four's stanley roberts found a different type of zone in this morning's people behaving badly. if you build it they will come. that's a not so old phrase and it's not necessarily true nats: ambiance case in point. north berkeley where a viewer email asked me to take a look at a problem notice all the taxis drivers waiting patiently for their next fare at first glance it appears to be a taxi stand . except notice it's a white zonenats: ambiance you see about 80 feet away is this yellow, white, green, curb .. this is the actual taxi zone and according to the bart taxi

rules, this is where taxis are required to park.however, they have overtaken the passenger loading zone which is for immediate loading and unloading of private vehicles . including uber and lyfton any given day you will see cabs lined up and maybe even see cabbies playing cards we park like that for many years i know this is legally not a taxi zone but we parked here for many, many years according to almost all the cabbies, they have been parking in the passenger loading . aka the while zone for the last 15 years despite having an actual taxi zone so now here is the rub if a non-taxi were to park in the taxi zone they could be subject to a parking fine . something the cabbies denythere are exceptions cabs designed for picking up disabled passengers can use the white zone but only one at a time .according to the emailer, if a private driver were to park in the makeshift taxi zone they are often verbally abused. however, after talking to some cabbies they also deny that happens too but they admit then need a better place for cabbies to

( james ) a popular gadget many people use to keep track of their workouts has turned into a crucial piece of evidence in a murder case. kron four's catherine heenan show us how police used a fit-bit to identify a murder suspect. in december, 2015, police responded to a frantic 9-1-1 call from this home in ellington, connectictut. richard dabate said a stocky, masked intruder with a voice like vin diesel had murdered his wife.connie dabate was found shot to death in the couple's basement,her husband suffered only minor cuts on his legs, partially tied to a chairlast week, sixteen months

after the killing, he was arrested and charged with her murder.the fifty=page arrest warrant describes dabate's secret life:a credit card account unknown to his wife ... used to pay for visits to a strip club he also used it for meetings at a motel six with another woman, who was seven months pregnant with his child at the time of the murder.they uncovered a text message to her from the night before the murder saying "see you tomorrow my little love nugget."burrowing down, police found more digital evidence in connie dabate's fitbit bracelet it showed that she was alive and walking around her home for an entire hour after her husband said she had been shot by the intruder. dabate is charged with murder, tampering with evidence and lying to police. ( james ) the national rifle association is challenging new california gun laws created after the san

bernardino terror attack. the lawsuit filed against the state challenges the ban on semi-automatic rifles which are equipped with so-called "bullet buttons." those buttons allow for quick replacement of ammunition magazines. attorneys with the n-r-a say the law criminalizes possession of firearms that are commonly possessed for lawful purposes. this lawsuit is the first in a series of 5 which will be filed against the state. shooting happened around 7:30 last night near the corner of meekland and medford avenues. police believe this was a drive-by shooting. there is no descrption of the shooters or the getaway vehicle. ( darya ) police are still looking for dozens of teenagers who robbed passengers on bart. ( mark ) and this morning officials say they have video of the mob... but they are refusing to release it. anny hong is here with the latest. ( anny ) the robberies happened last saturday at the coliseum station in oakland. six out of the nine train cars had working cameras, and the station also has surveillance video... but the video won't be released... here's why. bart says state law doesn't allow them to release the video because the robbers appear to be juveniles. kron four spoke with former bart police chief gary gee (jee). he says the agency should show the public what happened because public safety is involved:

backing out. the young america's foundation says they are not participating amid safety concerns. the group says the university has not ensured protection from violent protesters. the berkeley college republicans invited coulter to speak but the university wanted to move the date to may 2nd. . . to what it called a secure location. the berkeley college republicans responded by filing a lawsuit to try and keep the thursday date. coulter originally said that she still planned to speak tomorrow but yesterday she took to twitter saying that she had not spoken to any students at the university about when and where she would speak. all this comes several violent demonstrations in berkeley... one happening when former breitbart editor milo yiannapolous was set to speak on campus.

( mark ) a gunman is on the loose after a shooting near a south bay mall. it happened near the eastridge mall in san jose. this is a picture from the scene. police say the shooting happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon on quimby road. a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. he is recovering at the hospital this morning. there is no descirption of the shooter. ( darya ) a major defeat for the trump administration on sanctuary cities. a federal judge in san francisco has blocked an executive order that would have withheld money from sanctuary cities and counties. san francisco and santa clara counties sued over the order. the counties both faced losing nearly two-billion dollars. the ruling yesterday determined that the president does not have the authority to attach new conditions to federal spending. san francisco city attorney dennis herrera says this is a big win for sanctuary cities all over the country.

( mark ) a boys and girls club director is facing child endangerment charges this morning. police say he posted a 6-year-old girl's photo and information on an internet child pornography chat room. 22-year-old benjamin goerke was arrested in rohnert park. the u-s department of homeland security identified the post and notified the city's department of public safety. officials traced the information to goerke who later admitted to taking pictures of the girl and accessing her information through the boys and girls

( mark ) after a series of racist, sexist, and anti- semitic events at albany high school... the school board says it is taking steps to prevent similar events in the future. during a meeting last night, board members focused on incidents including students using nazi saulutes -- and an instagram account targetting black and minority students with racist images. since the instagram incident,the district has already implemented a new protocol for getting any incidents reported to the superintendent's office. and they will now teach what hate speech is.. and include cultural history in social studies classes. ( mark ) a task force was also created to gather ideas and suggestions and bring them to

( darya ) breaking news from overnight... police in paris arrest nearly a dozen people for the deadly attack at charlie hebdo magazine. that attack happened back in january of 2015. 17 people were killed in the attack. this morning 10 people have been arrested for providing weapons to at least one of the three attackers. all three of the terrorists were killed in shootouts with police following the attacks. ( darya ) five men are recovering this morning after three unrelated shootings in east oakland. the first happened on e street monday night. that shooting injured three men, one of them remains in critical condition. the second shooting happened on avenal avenue also on monday night. that shooting injured one man, he remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. the third shooting happened on sunnymere avenue early tuesday morning. one man was shot. he too is still in the hospital this morning. police say no one has been arrested in any of the shootings. ( darya ) it's happened again. another murder streamed live on facebook. police say a father killed his 11-month-old daughter and streamed it live on facebook. the man killed himself after killing his daughter on the roof of a hotel in thailand. the video was then uploaded to youtube. both facebook and youtube have since taken the videos down. police in thailand say that the killing may have been

motivated by another murder in cleveland that was also posted on facebook. facebook issued a statement overnight saying it is reviewing how it handles violent videos. the company has been under increased pressure to figure out a solution following the cleveland murder. ( mark ) there are growing fears this morning as the search continues for a missing five-year-old boy in southern california. and now the boy's father has been released from custody. crews have been searching a lake in santa barbara county. that is where the boy's father was found passed out near his car on saturday. aramaz andresian told police he doesn't know how he got there. he was supposed to drop off his son with his estranged wife saturday but never he showed. detectives released the father last night saying thereús not enough evidence at this point to charge him with anything. ( darya ) california's 64-billion dollar high-speed rail project is going to keep rolling forward. later today a judge is expected to reject the latest lawsuit

from a preschool. the victim told police a man described as white, 18 to 20 years old with long reddish- blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail exposed himself to the victim at about 3:40 p.m. near south gordon way and hawthorne avenue. the intersection is about three blocks from the los altos- mountain view children's corner preschool. the suspect was wearing a black beanie and dark clothing. he was driving a gold or beige older-model sedan, according to police. the suspect drove up to the victim, spoke with them and exposed victim turned away and rode home. in a separate incident at 4:16 p.m., police believe the same person contacted two people in front of a home in of valencia drive near los altos high school. sgt. brian jeffrey said the pair became frightened because a person unknown to them drove up and started talking to people around and ran home, police said. police are following expect to release a sketch of the weekend, jeffrey said. sheriff's office is investigating a series of heroin overdoses that could be linked to tainted drugs. five people have died within the past ten days. they range in age from 27 to 66 years old. officials say it is very unusually for this many people to die from overdoses within this short amount of time, especially in the same area. deputies believe the heroin came from the same person and that the drugs might have been tainted. authorities are concerned more people may have that tainted batch. ( mark ) to help combat the problem, marin county officials say they are equipping some of their police

officers with a drug that instantly reverses the effects of a heroin overdose. ( darya ) caltrans has started making some much needed repairs on highway 35 in los gatos. parts of the highway have been destroyed by this past winter's storms. the work is being focused on a stretch south and north of black road. water flowing from creeks and culverts is running onto the highway and side roads undermining the pavement. one lane is destroyed in several places. ( darya ) next week...a stretch of highway 35 from zayante road to north of highway 17 will be closed for ten days so road work can be completed. ( mark ) interstate five is back open in los angeles this morning after a fiery crash. it left one man dead and 10 others hurt.

you can see the video of the six- car pile up just after fire fighters put out the massive fire. c-h-p is still trying to figure out what caused the crash. but they believe a box truck lost control and crossed the center divide. that triggered a chain reaction of crashes involving another big rig and four other cars. a dog was also killed in the wreck. ( darya ) the clock is ticking down for congress to pass a budget to avoid a government shutdown. republicans have privately proposed a budget that does not include money for the president's proposed border wall with mexico. but some white house sources say the president still wants some type of funding proposal for the wall by the end of the week. but now some members of congress are concerned that the proposed budget could involve obamacare subsidies aimed at keeping insurance companies in the program. some republicans have indicated that could be a sticking point when it comes to a vote on the budget. if a budget is not approved by friday... the government will shut down. ( mark ) the university of california system is accused of hiding millions of dollars from the public. a state auditor says top administrators hid 175- million dollars in a secret reserve fund. the money was hidden while the u-c system raised tuition and asked the state for more money. the report from the state auditor says the secret account was created four years ago so the money could be spent with no oversight. u-c president janet napolitano denies that claim. she says the true amount of money in reserve is 38- million dollars and that the money is for unexpected expenses. lieutenant governor gavin newsom says he wants the recent tuition hikes to be reconsidered now that this new account has come to ( mark ) coming up... new

( mark ) two men accused of attacking a sikh resident in richmond are ordered to stand trial. a judge made the ruling after a hearing yesterday. chase little and colton leblanc are facing hate crime charges. the september attack against 41-year old maan singh khalsa left him with lasting injuries. during the attack, the men allegedly forced khalsa's head down, knocked off his turban and cut his hair. khalsa lost a pinky finger in the attack. the district attorney determined... his race or religion was a factor in the vicious assault. looking for a group of people - who robbed a couple at gunpoint in their home... in san francisco's western addition neighborhood. the home invasion happened monday night around 6:00... on eddy street near filmore street. police say the robbers broke into the couples home and pointed guns at them. officers say one the victims was pistol-whipped... before the group took off with laptops and cell phones. police have yet to release a description of the attackers. ( darya ) in the north bay... police are looking for the person who vandalized several businesses in petaluma. the man tagged several storefronts and cars. a yoga business nearby. .. caught surveillance video of the suspect. police are now hoping maybe someone can identify the man and come forward. ( mark ) the mother of the 15-year-old tennessee student who was kidnapped by her teacher - is now facing child abuse charges. the mother is scheduled to appear in court next month - to face five counts of abuse and neglect involving several of her children. she has pleaded not guilty. the girl's father filed for

divorce on monday... citing the alleged abuse. the teen was found safe with her 50-year-old teacher last week at a cabin in northern california. the teacher, tad cummiins, faces several federal charges related to the kidnapping. ( mark ) and this morning officials say they have video of the mob... but they are refusing to release it. anny hong is here with the story. ( anny ) the robberies happened last saturday at the coliseum station in oakland. six out of the nine train cars had working cameras, and the station also has surveillance video. bart says state law doesn't allow them to release the video because the robbers appear to be juveniles. kron four spoke with former bart police

the loose after a shooting near a south bay mall. it happened near the eastridge mall in san jose. this is a picture from the scene. police say the shooting happened just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon on quimby road. a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. he is recovering at the hospital this morning. there is no descirption of the shooter. ( darya ) a major defeat for the trump administration on sanctuary cities. a federal judge in san francisco has blocked an executive order that would have withheld money from sanctuary cities and counties. san francisco and santa clara counties sued over the order. the counties both faced losing nearly two-billion dollars. the ruling yesterday determined that the president does not have the authority to attach new conditions to federal spending. san francisco city attorney dennis herrera says this is a big win for sanctuary cities all over the country.

racist, sexist, and anti- semitic events at albany high school... the school board says it is taking steps to prevent similar events in the future. during a meeting last night, board members focused on incidents including students using nazi saulutes -- and an instagram account targetting black and minority students with racist images. since the instagram incident,the district has already implemented a new protocol for getting any incidents reported to the superintendent's office. and they will now teach what hate speech is.. and include cultural history in social studies classes. ( mark ) a task force was also created to gather ideas and suggestions and bring them to district staff. trying to grab a woman and get her into his car on steiner street saturday night. witnesses intervened and the suspect got away. bravo was caught the next day in sonoma county. he was taken into custody and now faces attempted kidnapping charges. ( darya ) a san jose man with h-i-v has been detained at a immigration facility in florida. dennis davydov arrived in the u-s legally in september 20-14 and overstayed his visa. he has applied for political asylum, according to the russian l-g- b-t community. there is concern because he is a gay man and members of the gay community say the russian government may be hostile towards him. davydov was on his way home to the bay area in early march when he encountered federal agents in an airport. he is currently in custody in miami. ( mark ) happening today.. 15 people who lived in an apartment in oakland that caught fire and killed four people are filing a lawsuit. the fire happened on march

27th, leaving nearly 100 people without a home. the tenants are filing a lawsuit against the landlords and master tenants seeking damages caused by the fire and deplorable living conditions. the tenants say that the owners knew about severe code violations for many years before the fire. investigators say the fire was caused by a candle. ( mark ) new this morning... p-g-and-e is being fined more than eight million dollars after a deadly wildfire in the sierra foothills. california regulators fined the company for poor tree maintenance and failing to report one of its power lines may have started the blaze in amador county in september of 20-15. investigators say a tree slumped into a power line igniting the fire. the fire burned for three weeks, killing two people and destroying 550 homes. ( darya ) two previously unseen video interviews with cleveland police officers involved in 12-year-old tamir rice's death are providing new insight into their mindsets at the time. ( mark ) they also appear to be inconsistent with the officers' written

testimony. anny hong is here to explain what's in the new videos. ( anny @ land ) the interviews with the officers happened days after tamir's death in november 2014 but the videos are just coming to light. officers timothy loehmann and frank garmback gave statements to investigators just days after tamir's death. loehmann, who shot tamir, said he had to make a quick decision after seeing what he thought was a real gun in the boy's hand. the officers were responding to a call about a person waving around a gun in a park. the caller told 9-1-1 it was "probably a juvenile" and "probably a fake" gun. but the dispatcher didn't relay that information. the officers say they believed they were sitting ducks when responding to the call. officer garmback is visibly emotional during his interview and stops at least twice to bury his head in his hands.

( mark ) lawyers for aaron hernadez are asking that his first degree murder conviction be dismissed now that he has died. the former n-f-l player hanged himself at a maximum security prison last week. the suicide came just days after he was acquitted of killing two men in 20-12. he was already serving a life sentence for the murder of odin loyd. courts in massachusetts have held that when a defendant dies before having an appeal heard, the conviction is vacated. hernandez's appeal hadn't yet been heard when he hanged himself. prosecutors say they will oppose the motion. ( averi ) police are looking for a man who allegedly exposed himself friday to a person riding a bike in los altos a few blocks from a preschool. the victim told police a man described as white, 18 to 20 years old with long reddish- blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail exposed himself to

the victim at about 3:40 p.m. near south gordon way and hawthorne avenue. the intersection is about three blocks from the los altos- mountain view children's corner preschool. the suspect was wearing a black beanie and dark clothing. he was driving a gold or beige older-model sedan, according to police. the suspect drove up to the victim, spoke with them and exposed himself. the victim turned away and rode home. in a separate incident at 4:16 p.m., police believe the same person contacted two people in front of a home in the 400 block of valencia drive near los altos high school. sgt. brian jeffrey said the pair became frightened because a person unknown to them drove up and started talking to them. the two people then turned around and ran home, police said. police are following leads and expect to release a sketch of the suspect this weekend, jeffrey said. ( anny @ land ) five people have died within the past ten days. they range in age from 27 to 66 years old. officials say it is very unusually for this many people to die from overdoses within this short amount of time, especially in the same area. deputies believe the heroin came from the same person and that the drugs might have been tainted. authorities are concerned more people may have that tainted batch. ( anny @ land ) to help combat the problem, marin county officials say they are equipping some of their police officers with a drug that instantly reverses the effects of a heroin overdose. ( darya ) five men are

recovering this morning after three unrelated shootings in east oakland. the first happened on e street monday night. that shooting injured three men, one of them remains in critical condition. the second shooting happened on avenal avenue also on monday night. that shooting injured one man, he remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. the third shooting happened on sunnymere avenue early tuesday morning. one man was shot. he too is still in the hospital this morning. police say no one has been arrested in any of the shootings. ( mark )s caltrans has started making some much needed repairs on highway 35 in los gatos. parts of the highway have been destroyed by this past winter's storms. the work is being focused on a stretch south and north of black road. water flowing from creeks and culverts is running onto the highway and side roads undermining the pavement. one lane is destroyed in several places.

( mark ) the clock is ticking down for congress to pass a budget to avoid a government shutdown. republicans have privately proposed a budget that does not include money for the president's proposed

of attacking a sikh resident in richmond are ordered to stand trial. a judge made the ruling after a preliminary hearing yesterday. chase little and colton leblanc are facing hate crime charges. the september attack against 41-year old maan singh khalsa left him with lasting injuries. during the attack, the men allegedly forced khalsa's head down, knocked off his turban and cut his hair. khalsa lost a pinky finger in the attack. the district attorney determined... his race or religion was a factor in the vicious assault. ( mark ) we are learning new information about the family of a tennessee student who was kidnapped by her teacher.( darya ) anny hong is here with charges that teen's ámotherá is facing. anny. ( anny @ land ) the 15-year-old's mother is now facing child abuse charges. the mother is scheduled to appear in court next month - to face five counts of abuse and neglect involving several of her children. she has pleaded not guilty. the girl's father filed for divorce on monday... citing

the alleged abuse. the teen was found safe with her 50-year-old teacher last week at a cabin in northern california. the teacher, tad cummiins, faces several federal charges related to the kidnapping. ( darya ) a man makes a mistake in a ohio traffic court that can now lead him to jail time... he dropped cocaine on the floor. courtroom security cameras were rolling when lemar reed walked up to enter a plea. he received a minor traffic violation. that's when he accidently dropped a bag of cocaine out of his hat on the floor. a security officer didn't notice the drugs on the floor until about an hour later. a warrant was then issued for his arrest. he now faces a fifth degree felony. ( mark ) the university of california system is accused of hiding millions of dollars from the public. a state auditor says top administrators hid 175- million dollars in a secret

reserve fund. the money was hidden while the u-c system raised tuition and asked the state for more money. the report from the state auditor says the secret account was created four years ago so the money could be spent with no oversight. u-c president janet napolitano denies that claim. she says the true amount of money in reserve is 38- million dollars and that the money is for unexpected expenses. lieutenant governor gavin newsom says he wants the recent tuition hikes to be reconsidered now that this new account has come to light. ( darya ) there are several proposals to build affordable housing in underused areas of san francisco. they city is working to expand homes to people with low income and the formerly homeless. the mayor's office hopes to make the site at 10-38 mission street. that's just behind the federal courthouse at 7th and mission streets. a second propsal would allow the city to build units on both samsone street and at pacific avenue in chinatown. the sites would have an estiamted 50 to 60 units. 64-billion dollar high-speed rail project is going to keep rolling forward. later today a judge is expected to reject the latest lawsuit seeking to block the money for the project. the lawsuit sought to keep the state from spending more than one- billion dollars on bonds which were sold last week. this ruling will keep the bullet train project moving forward, but it is not clear where the long-term funding will come from. the system is supposed to link san francisco and los angeles by the year 20-30.
