( marty @ landing) bay area communities on edge several cars are torched by an arsonist. a total of seven cars have been set on fire in just the past week as kron 4's hermela aregawi reports authorities are stepping up patrols hoping to catch the arsonist before they strike again. (hermela aregawi)i just spoke with the fire marshall.he tells me these series of arsons are the department's primary concern.and that they're devoted a lot of their resources to catch this serial arsonist.tonight - fire officials are looking for the person or people responsible for setting at least a dozen vehicles on fire.two cars were set on fire early friday morning.a toyota highlander on crescenta court in lafayette. and another car on juanita ( marty @ landing ) another big story we are following this morning... an off duty alameda county sheriff's deputy killed in a crash is identified as sroeuy khin . the early morning

crash involved a tech bus. kron4's philipple djegal has the latest. (philippe) evidence markers along eastbound interstate 580... lead up to a badly battered volkswagon beetle and the tour bus that ran into it. the violent end to this deadly crash confirmed by the damage done to the bug... the man behind the wheel of the beetle was 51-year-old off-duty alameda county sheriff's deputy sroeuy (shuh-roy) khin (ken) who did not survive the collision.capt. christopher sherry/chp- "our thoughts and prayers go out to the sheriff's department, the deputy and his family." the crash was reported just after seven o'clock in the morning... and, immediately after, the california highway patrol shutdown the three far left lanes. for reasons still under investigation.... california highway patrol captain christopher sherry says khin (ken) slowed down or stopped his car in the number two lane of the freeway just east of grant line road.... and, the driver of a tour bus carrying 51 tesla corporation employees traveling from

fremont to stockton, slammed into the beetle.capt. christopher sherry/chp- "i don't have the statement from the bus driver right now. you can imagine, its reverse commute, traffic is driving faster than in the westbound direction, there's sun in the horizon. there's all types of factors involved with weather, roadway conditions, things like that that we'll be taking into consideration when we put together what happened in the collision." telsa released a statement saying all employees on the bus are safe and accounted for.nats- traffic the back-up extended for more than 10 miles into livermore. the c-h-p says the bus driver is being cooperative, and that neither drugs or alcohol appear to be factors in the crash... though its possible that person could face charges. capt. christopher sherry/chp- "anytime theres a situation like this, there's the potential for criminal charges. we'll have to wait." all lanes were re-opened just before two o'clock in the afternoon. in alameda county, philippe djegal, kron four news. his wife and four kids ken was driving home from a 12-hour overtime shift at santa rita jail when he was killed. ken started his career with the alameda county sheriff's department in 2007. the death of the ken comes on the heels of another deputy, mike foley who worked at the jail and was killed in a bus accident in feburary. today would have been ken's 51st birthday. ( marty ) vacaville police have released this video showing why vaca pena middle school was placed on lockdown. it happened yesterday morning when reports of a student with a gun surfaced. those reports turned out to be a b-b- gun. police say they found it inside a 15-year- old student's backpack... the teen boy was arrested and charged with bringing a weapon onto school grounds. look at some of the new medical findings released this week: ( marty ) a warning if you like to eat sushi. doctors say parasite infections from eating raw fish are on the rise. the majority of illnesses are reported in asian countries... but a new report says cases in the u-s are increasing. the c-d-c says the parasite can only be removed through surgery. they say if someone has it... they will start having severe stomach pain. the c-d-c has guidelines before eating raw fish. they say seafood should be cooked or frozen before eating to kill the parasite. there is no way to know if these rules have been followed when eating at sushi restaurants. ( marty ) now to a story you will only see here on kron four. a bay area woman says her wrist was burned by a fitbit. kron four's ella sogomonian spoke to the woman in san jose and has a response from fit-bit. friday morning around 10 denielle briseno of san jose says she felt a burning sensation on her left wrist underneath her fit bit bracelet.sot: denielle briseno, claims fitbit burned wrist//"i noticed a hot feeling to my wrist and irritation, a little, a little bit of an irritating feeling. shifted the fit bit up a little, noticed a burn." briseno says she has worn the fit bit night and day since her husband bought the tracker back in december and has never had issues.sot: denielle briseno, claims fitbit burned

district attorney is under fire this morning.. a civil grand jury has called for him to be removed from office due to misconduct. now the members of the union representing the attorneys who work under him are recommending a 'no confidence' vote. kron four's dan kerman explains. (dan kerman)in january the state fair political practices commission fined contra costa county d.a. mark peterson $45,000 after the d.a. admitted to using $66,000 in campaign funds on personal expenses violating the government code. now after it's own investigation contra costa county's civil grand jury is calling for peterson's removal from the office of contra costa county district attorney for "willful or corrupt misconduct in office"sot jim mellander/foreperson, civil grand jury 28-38mr peterson in

( marty ) in the south bay... parents were called to pick up their kids at a y-m-c-a after several workers fell ill while working at a camp. parents tell kron four many of the adults running camp campbell in boulder creek started feeling sick. the camp in santa cruz county is now closed and is being looked over by health inspectors. one parent took their child to the hospital as a precaution. we have reached out to the camp but there is no word yet on the health inspector's two pennsylvania officers are now talking about how they helped stop the "facebook killer." last month, people all over the country were on edge while officers searched for steve stephens... he is the cleveland man

who killed a 74-year old stranger on easter sunday then posted video of the horrific shooting on facebook. pennsylvania state police corporals mark van horn and aaron davis returned to the spot where they helped stop the killer. ( marty ) the chase lasted about two miles until corporal van horn helped end the pursuit by doing what is called a pit manuever causing the suspects car to spin around. after the pursuit, stephens took his own life. look at some of the new medical findings released this week: ( marty ) a warning if you like to eat sushi. doctors say parasite infections from eating raw fish are on the rise. the majority of illnesses are reported in asian countries... but a new report says cases in the u-s are increasing. the c-d-c says the parasite can only be removed through surgery. they say if someone has it... they will start having severe stomach pain. the c-d-c has guidelines before eating raw fish. they say seafood should be cooked or frozen before eating to kill the parasite. there is no

( marty ) an officer decided to join a group of kids in a game of basketball after receiving a noise complaint from one of their neighbors. this happened in kansas. officer scott finster went over to their neighborhood after someone complained about the kids playing in the street. finster decided to use it as an opportunity to teach them about street safety. he then played a game of pig with them.
