san jose police are searching for two men wanted for stealing a car and running from police. police tried to stop the car on senter road and seven trees boulevard saturday. officers say the two men in the car were also wanted for an earlier robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. when police tried to pull the car over the thieves took off. officers followed the car to the area of bodie court and blossom hill road where the men ran away. police then set up a perimeter... these are pictures of police directing traffic around it. they are still looking for the thieves this morning. ( james ) happening now. police are looking for a man

accused of attacking a woman that he met online. the assualt happened on the u-c berkeley campus. it happened wednesday night in the parking lot at the lawrence hall of science. police say the woman met the man on an online dating site then met him in person in berkeley. she says they then drove to the campus parking lot where the man assaulted her inside the parked car. neither have affiliations with the school. ( james ) an employee of the boys and girls club is arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of child porn. brian pittman was arrested after police served a search warrant of his apartment in san francisco. they say they found numerous child porn files on various media devices that belonged to the 45-year-old suspect. investigators also learned that pittman was working for the boys and girls club in san francisco as a maintenance worker. police say pittman was not directly involved with programs involving children and it does not appear that any of the crimes involved children from the boys and girls club. ( james ) happening today. the penalty phase of the trial for the man convicted of

killing sierra lamar will continue. the court took a break friday after the prosecution rested its case. the defense will present its case this week. defense attorneys have asked the judge to allow a psychologist to testify about antolin garcia-torres' childhood. the judge has said she will consider the request but wants to hear testimony from garcia- torres' family first. the prosecution is seeking the death penalty ( james ) thousands of runners and spectators hit the streets early this sunday morning for the annual bay to breakers run. it's the race that has been run more consecutive years than any other in the world. kron four's hermela aregawi was there to capture the highlights. an estimated 50-thousand people took to the streets early sunday.with costumes on. and enthusiasm high.danielle dimick/runner: this was my first time not really running it for an actual time, just kind of going with a friend and walking and running as we see fit. and we had a lot of fun this year. i think alaska

benjamin netanyahu and palestinian authority president mahmoud abbas. the president has called negotiating peace between israel and palestine as the "ultimate deal." ( james ) meanwhile, a major figure in american political history was in berkeley talking about presidential accountability, specifically in relation to president trump and richard nixon. kron four's spencer blake brings us a look from the town hall meeting where watergate was a major point of comparison between the two. more than seven hundred people showed up to hear from john dean, the former attorney for president nixon.dean was involved in the watergate cover-up, and later gave testimony to congress that implicated the president, himself, and others in the scandal."accountability for a president. i can't think of anything more important at any time, and particularly at this time."and that's just what congresswoman barbara lee brought people together for sunday - to talk about that facts surrounding the trump administration and russian hacking, and what congress might be able to do with those facts."we still need an independent investigation

( james ) north korea has fired another ballistic missile. south korean officials say it flew about 500 kilometers or some 300 miles. that's a shorter distance than north korea's last missile test. that one was launched about a week ago and was considered a success. diplomats say the untied nations security council now plans to hold an urgent discussion tomorrow about north korea's latest missle test. the closed discussion was requested by south korea and japan. ( james ) a once doomed peninsula ice rink is getting a second chance. the bridgepointe ice rink in san mateo is set to reopen later this year. the ice rink in the bridgepointe shopping center was shut down in 20-13. developers initially

planned to demolish the building and turn it into retail space. strong opposition and pressure on city officials over the years resulted in the owners of the shopping center agreeing to reopen the ice rink. it is set to reopen in september. ( james ) bay area baseball. the giants in saint louis looking to close out a three game series against the cardinals. and it was a tough one for the g-men. matt cain struggles.. he gives up 7 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings of work. the cardinals win 8 to 3. the giants take on the cubs in wrigley field tonight at 5:05. ( james ) happening now... the search is on for a dad who went missing after trying to save his son.... kron four's averi harper has details on the search and what happened. emergency personnel are searching the waters near the pittsburg marina. they're looking for a father who is missing after jumping in the water to save his son. sot rescue crews say they got the call at about 5:30 saturday evening... looking for help to retrieve 4 boaters from the water. battalion chief bob atlas-contra costa county fire "we began an aggressive search in the delta area for for the reported boaters we found that as a search continued on that three voters were found to be

safe they have been treated and transported to two local facilities for evaluations we're currently in still in an active search for the fourth boater."3 boaters were found and treated including two boys ages 7 and 8. but that father remains unaccounted for. saturday night crews suspended the search...family members we talked to did not support suspending the search. amy nguyen-victim's niece "i think they should keep looking for him that's what they should do because he's in there and tomorrow is too late that's what i think we should do and not leave like they're doing right now."emergency resumed the search sunday.little is known about the circumstances that led up to the boaters falling into the water. at this time it's not even known if any of the boaters were wearing life jackets when they went overboard."i have kids too so i don't think we should go in the water without a lifevest." multiple agencies are searching the are a mile and a half into the water near the sacremento river. dedicating resources on water, on land and in the air to finding the missing dad.in pittsburg, averi harper at kron 4 news.

( james ) a father who went missing in concord has been found dead. glen kaplan went missing in concord on mothers day. he told his family that he was leaving for a meeting at the time. a person in the area of clayton road and ayers road called police saturday morning. that's when they reported an unresponsive man in a parked car. when police got to the scene-- the man was confirmed dead. they have idtentified him as 48-year-old glen kaplan. at this point, police say there is no indication of foul play. ( james ) a wave of assaults resulted in four people being injured in oakland. a man received scrapes and bruises after being attacked on linden street saturday morning. a man was then attacked on second street later that afternoon. the victim suffered cuts and was taken to the hospital. just a few hours later a woman was taken to the hospital with cuts after someone assaulted her with a knife. that happened on telegraph avenue.

( james ) warriors center zaza pachulia says he's had to hire security for his kids at school because of his ongoing death threats. spurs forward kawhi leonard was injured on this play in game one of the western conference finals. many fans have commented on pachulia's social media pages, plaguing him with

death threats. pachulia told e-s-p-n yesterday that spurs coach gregg popovich may have fuled some of the threats. popovich used the term "manslaughter" and called the center a dirty player. ( james ) at least a hundred students walked out of the graduation ceremony to protest the vice president and his policies. mike pence was delivering the commencement speech at the catholic university in his home state of indiana. the student protestors say that - as governor - pence signed laws that targeted people on the basis of their religion and sexual orientation. ( james ) a humpback whale that wandered into a southern california harbor has found his way back to the open ocean. wildlife officals say the whale swam away before dawn yesterday. authorities provided it some guidance by playing a loop of humpback whale feeding sounds near the harbor's exit point. the mammal arrived in the harbor saturday after making a wrong

( james ) "the greatest show on earth" takes it's final bow. the ringling brothers and barnum & bailey circus performed its final show in new york last night. its owners announced earlier this year that they would bring the curtain down on the show. they blamed high costs and declining ticket sales, especially since the phasing out of their famous elephant show. it was scrapped after animal rights groups criticized the circus for its treatment of animals. ringling brothers were in business for 146-years. ( mark ) a criminal investigation is underway after a fire at a marijuana grow house in the east bay. it happened yesterday afternoon on bugle way in antioch. fire officials say they found dozens of pot plants in several bedrooms throughout the home. investigators say a cigarette butt started the fire in one of the planters inside the home. with hot temperatures yesterday, they say they're lucky the flames didn't spread to dry brush and other homes. the fire is now a criminal investigation because there were more than the six marijuana plants allowed per home by state law. ( darya ) happening today. the penalty phase of the trial for the man convicted of killing sierra lamar will continue. the court took a break friday after the prosecution rested its case. the defense will present its case this week. defense attorneys have asked the judge to allow a psychologist to testify about antolin garcia-torres' childhood. the judge has said she will

attacking a woman that he met online. the assualt happened on the u-c berkeley campus. it happened wednesday night in the parking lot at the lawrence hall of science. police say the woman met the man on an online dating site then met him in person in berkeley. she says they then drove to the campus parking lot where the man assaulted her inside the parked car. neither have affiliations with the school. ( james ) an employee of the boys and girls club is arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of child porn. brian pittman was arrested after police served a search warrant of his apartment in san francisco. they say they found numerous child porn files on various media devices that belonged to the 45-year-old suspect. investigators also learned that pittman was working for the boys and girls club in san francisco as a maintenance worker. police say pittman was not directly involved with programs involving children and it does not appear that any of the crimes involved children from the boys and girls club. ( mark ) the death of an antioch man may be tied to the outbreak of botulism near sacramento. we first told

you about this story on the kron 4 morning news. last month... five people were hospitalized with a nerve paralyzing illness after eating nacho cheese from a gas station in walnut grove. according to california department of public health... ten cases of botulism have now been linked to the bad cheese. now the family of martin galindo is saying botulism was the cause of his death. galindo's family cannot say for sure that he got the illness from the gas station... but he was working in the area at the time of the outbreak. doctors say any case of botulism in adults is very rare. galindo's illness and death haven't been confirmed by the state as having ties to the botulism outbreak. while patients can recover from botulism, doctors say it takes weeks or even months. ( james ) a student who was going to graduate from high school next week drowns in the san joaquin river. it happened saturday near fresno. police say 18- year-old neng thao was submerged in about eighteen feet of water. family members say he had just celebrated his birthday and was looking forward to

( james ) rescue crews are searching for a father who went missing after jumping in the water to save his son near the pittsburg marina. crews received a call regarding four stranded boaters on saturday evening. three boaters were rescued and treated, including two boys ages seven and eight-years-old. family members were upset when crews temporarily stopped the search later that night.

( mark ) the deadly stabbing of a black student visiting the university of maryland is being investigated as a possible hate crime. the 23-year-old richard collins was attacked on saturday. 22-year-old sean urbanski is charged with first and second degree murder. investigators learned that urbanski belonged to an extremeist group facebook group called "alt-reigh nation." police say urbanski attacked collins without any provocation. collins was a newly- commissioned u-s army lieutenant, who was just three days away from his graduation. ( mark ) a wave of assaults resulted in four people being injured in oakland. a man received scrapes and bruises after being attacked on linden street saturday morning. a man was then attacked on second street later that afternoon. the victim suffered cuts and was taken to the hospital. just a few hours later a woman was taken to the hospital with cuts after someone assaulted her with a knife. that happened on telegraph avenue. just after midnight yesterday, a man was cut on his legs when a person with a knife attacked him on 48-th avenue. two people have been arrested in conncection

( mark ) police are looking for a man accused of attacking a woman that he met online. the assualt happened on rkeley campus. it happened wednesday night in the parking lot at the lawrence hall of science. police say the woman met the man on an online dating site then met him in person in berkeley. she says they then drove to the campus parking lot where the man assaulted her inside the parked car. neither have affiliations with the school. ( james ) in international news... north korea has fired another ballistic missile. south korean officials say it flew about 300 miles. that's a shorter distance than north korea's last missile test. that one was launched about a week ago and was considered a success. according to state media, north korean leader kim jong un says this type of missile is now ready for mass production and deployment. the untied nations security council plans to hold an emergency meeting tomorrow about north korea's latest missle test. the closed discussion was

( james ) an employee of the boys and girls club is arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of child porn. brian pittman was arrested after police served a search warrant of his apartment in san francisco. they say they found numerous child porn files on various media devices that belonged to the 45-year-old suspect. investigators also learned that pittman was working for the boys and girls club in san francisco as a maintenance worker. police say pittman was not directly involved with programs involving children and it does not appear that any of the crimes involved children from the boys and girls club. ( mark ) the death of an antioch man may be tied to the outbreak of botulism near sacramento. we first told you about this story on the kron 4 morning news. last month... five people were hospitalized with a nerve paralyzing illness after eating nacho cheese from a gas station in walnut grove. according to california department of public health... ten cases of botulism have now been linked to the bad cheese. now the family of martin galindo is saying botulism was

the cause of his death. galindo's family cannot say for sure that he got the illness from the gas station... but he was working in the area at the time of the outbreak. doctors say any case of botulism in adults is very rare. galindo's illness and death haven't been confirmed by the state as having ties to the botulism outbreak. while patients can recover from botulism, doctors say it takes weeks or even months. ( mark ) a student who was going to graduate from high school next week drowns in the san joaquin river. it happened saturday near fresno. police say 18-year-old neng thao was submerged in about eighteen feet of water. family members say he had just celebrated his birthday and was looking forward to graduating high school. a man was sitting on a beach with his kids when he heard a group of men start screaming for help. thao had been swept away in the fast moving current. fire fighters say a group of fisherman found thao's body. police say this incident should serve as a reminder that it doesn't take much to drag a person underwater even if the surface looks smooth and calm. county sheriff's deputy is laid to rest. he was killed when a bus crashed into his car. sroeuy (shuh-roy) khin's (ken) casket was escorted to the stockton temple by fellow police officers. the 50 year old deputy died when a commuter bus crashed into his car on interstate 580 near tracy. law enforcement agencies from all across the state came to pay their respects. khin leaves behind a wife and four children. ( james ) vice president mike pence gave the commencement address at notre dame university over the weekend. but not all of the graduates wanted to hear what the vice president had to say. at least a hundred students walked out of the graduation ceremony to protest the vice president and his policies. pence was delivering the commencement speech at the catholic university in his home state of indiana. the student protestors say that - as governor - pence signed laws that targeted people on the basis of their religion and sexual orientation.
