plane heading from newark, new jersey to san francisco was evacuated after what appeared to be flames from one of the planes engines. according to a passenger this all happened as the plane was taxiing to the runway. over 100 people were aboard the plane. flight attentands deployed the inflatable slides to get passengers off the boeing- 757. five people suffered minor injuries.... passengers were moved to a

(will) a major development in the case of missing father piseth chhay. investigators using police dogs served a search warrant in san francisco as they work to find chhay. this comes after chhay's mercedes suv was found stripped in the bayview on saturday. police aren't saying exactly where in the bayview they went. or why they went there or what they found. chhay who has a wife and two young sons hasn't been seen since mother's day when he left his home in san franciso's mission terrace area to go help a friend. he's also an uber driver but he was not driving at the time his wife says they've been married for 20 years. and never once did he go somewhere without telling her what he was doing. she calls his disappearance 'absolutey hell.' (will) one person has been hospitalized after a balcony at an oakley home collapsed.

crews responded to the two-story home on mellowood drive at around 8-30 last night. they found one person injured who was then taken to a hosipital. no details yet on the extent of those injuries. (will) breaking news this morning... manchester police say they have made three more arrests in connection to the bombing at an arianna grande concert earlier this week. and now people in england and around the world are paying tribute to the lives lost in the deadliest terror attack on british soil in more than a decade. a suicide bomber killed at least 22 people and injured 59 others outside of a concert. now the terror threat in england is at its highest level as fears intensify of another attack. rylee carlson is in manchester with more. children mourning children after a night of fun turned into a nightmare.a suicide bomber targeted children attending an ariana grande

a makeshift memorial in honor of the lives lost too soon.in manchester -- i'm rylee carlson (will) the suspect facing charges in a d-u-i crash that killed a three- year old boy has pleaded not guilty. yarenit malihan tried to hide behind a wall and her lawyer during the arraignment. cameras were allowed in the proceeding. but malihan stayed behind the glass and out of view for the entire hearing. barely speaking up when asked by the prosecutor. the 41- year old is facing felony charges for the september crash that killed 3 -year old elijah dunn. the judge kept the bail at 3- million dollars and she remains in custody. authorities say in the past year yarenit has been arrested 3- times for being intoxicated. including the fatal d-u-i in september. (will) following the manchester terrorist attack.. concert and sporting venues around the world are increasing security. including here in the bay area. kron4's specner blake shows us the extra precautions being taken at the oakland coliseum. the explosion that killed more than 20 people in manchester could have happened at any number of other arenas or stadiums around the world. (will) happening now.... a predator alert in the east bay. investigators looking into a possible attempted child luring case in oakley. police say an 11-year-old boy may have saved his sister and himself from being taken away by a stranger. the two children were playing on a playground late saturday morning when police sa a man drove through the parking lot and up to where the little boy and his sister were playing. that's when police say he asked one of the children if they wanted to go for a ride. the boy then grabbed his sister and ran to their parents. the man then drove off. never getting out of his car.

(will) danville police arrest a bank robbery suspect who had on a very unusual disguise. as kron 4's justine waldman tells us police did not have to go too far to find the suspect . pkgwhile wearing a painted on beard, danville police say 36-year old jennifer mcclary tried to rob the bank of the west on diablo and el pintado roads tuesday morning.she allegedly demanded money from the teller, but did not show a weapon and then ran away. 18-25su justine waldmanthe disguise did not fool police who tracked her down about 500 feet away from the bank at her own apartment.neighbors say they saw a lot of police outside her apartment.no name

(will) an elementary school in the east bay will be demolished at the end of the school year. late last night the alameda unified school district voted to close and demolish lum elementary school. this comes after engineers found soil under the school that may not be strong enough to with stand an earthquake. last night parents and students from the school protested outside city hall while the school board made it's decision. after the vote kron 4 spoke with parents about the decision to demolish the school. district has assured teachers and staff that they will have jobs at other schools. as of now... there are no plans for the property that the school sits on. controversial here in dublin. tonight hundreds of parents attended a district school board meeting where the issue will be decided one and for all.the student population in dublin has been growing steadily for years. there's no doubt that a new high school is badly needed. voters have already approved multiple bond measure to help pay for it. the school district has been searching for a new site for years and they believe that this location. . near the intersection of gleason drive and hacienda drive is their best option.sotbut this spot, which is currently being used as office space, sits about half a mile from the aameda county jail. that fact has alarmed a great many parents.sotsot

(will @ landing) chaos erupts in merced county when a tanker-truck overturns causing a massive fire and explosions. it happened just off highway-99 at around 10- yesterday morning in atwater. cal fire officials say the truck was carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline. they say the truck ran off the highway and overturned near applegate road. the incident set off a massive fire and a series of fiery blasts. people scrambled out of local businesses. . .several were evacuated. the truck driver died at the scene. no word yet on what caused the crash. (will @ landing) a san francisco theater is offering an unusual experience to its guests to illustrate a theme in the show rats.. the

south san francisco neighborhood. at this time detailed are limited. we've gotten reports that the shooting involved officers.... but we're waiting on official word from police here on the scene. we're told a representative is on the way to talk to reporters about what's going on here. this is what i do know. take vothere is a heavy police presence on cork place. i see several squad cars in the area. the san mateo county coroner is on scene.the 3600 block of cork place is blocked to traffic while police investigate. they won't say much on scene, but that they'll be here for some time processing this scene. the area blocked off appears to be a culdesac... so only the people who love on the 3600-block of cork place will be affected by the street closure. on cam i'll be on the

( darya ) police in the east bay are investigating an attempted child luring case in oakley. an 11-year-old boy and his sister were at a playground saturday morning when police say a man drove through the parking lot and up to where the boy and his sister were playing. police say he asked one of the children if they wanted to go for a ride. the boy then grabbed his sister and ran to their parents. the man then drove off.

piseth chhay . the father of two went missing on mother's day. this search comes after his car was found stripped in the bayview on saturday. police are not saying where in the bayview they served the search warrant or what they found. chhay has a wife and two young sons. he hasn't been seen since mother's day when he left his home in san franciso to help a friend. ( mark ) police arrested a woman in danville accused of robbing a bank with a very unusual disguise. police say 36-year-old jennifer mcclary robbed a "bank of the west" with a painted on beard. it happened yesterday morning. police say she handed the teller a note demanding money, without ever showing a weapon. officesr later tracked her down about five-hundred feet away from the bank at her apartment. she was arrested on robbery charges. ( darya ) an elementary school in the east bay will be demolished at the end of the school year. last night the alameda unified school district voted to close and demolish lum elementary school.

this comes after engineers found soil under the school that may not be strong enough to with-stand an earthquake. last night parents and students from the school protested outside city hall while the school board made it's decision. after the vote, kron 4 spoke with parents about the decision to demolish the school. ( darya ) the district has assured teachers and staff that they will have jobs at other schools. as of now, there are no plans for the property that the school sits on. ( darya ) the woman facing charges in a d-u-i crash that killed a three-year old boy has pleaded not guilty. yarenit malihan tried to hide behind a wall and her lawyer during the arraignment. malihan stayed behind the glass and out of view for the entire hearing. the 41-year old is facing felony charges for the september crash that killed 3-year old elijah dunn. the judge kept the bail at three-million

dollars and she remains in custody. authorities say in the past year yarenit has been arrested three times for being intoxicated... including the fatal d-u-i in september. ( mark ) a united airlines plane heading from newark, new jersey to san francisco was evacuated after an engine fire. according to a passenger, this all happened as the plane was taxiing to the runway. over one hundred people were on the plane. flight attentants deployed the inflatable slides to get passengers off. five people suffered minor injuries. passengers were moved to a different flight and landed in san francisco earlier this morning. ( darya ) san francsico police have arrested an assistant teacher after a bomb threat forced an evacuation of a school. 22 year-old pablo munoz was arrested on two counts of felony threats and two counts of misdemeanor false reporting of a bomb. he was working as an assistant teacher at leport montessori school on fell street. police received the bomb threats on two separate occasions. after a sweep of the school, no bombs were found. ( darya ) happening today... the city of concord will hold a meeting to discuss new laws regulating marijuana. concord currently has a ban on dispensiaries ... as well as outdoor grows. but

with the passage of proposition-64 last november, it is legal for people to grow six plants at home. cities are allowed to create their own regulations when it comes to growing marijuana. the meeting is set for 6:00 tonight at the city council chambers. could soon get a little more expensive in san francisco.( mark ) a city supervisor is proposing a fee on trips that use ridesharing companies. the money from the fees would go to pay for what the city calls congestion management efforts.( darya ) city officials have recently expressed concern over the congestion caused by circling and double-parked uber and lyft cars. supervisors are calling on the city attorney to study whether the city could impose a 20-cents per ride fee.( mark ) a similar fee has already been imposed in the state of massachusetts. a recent study found that there are about 45-thousand ride share drivers in san francisco. ( darya ) the san francisco dungeon theater will host "rat cafe" experiences this summer. it's part animal rescue and part theater enhancement.( mark ) ambassador rats are taken to each table for guests. the goal is to tell visitors that the domestic rats make great

( darya ) police are trying to figure out how a 20-year-old woman from discovery bay turned up dead in richmond. investigators are searching for the person who shot alexandrea sweitzer multiple times last thursday. the shooting happened in the parking lot of the booker t. anderson jr. community center. she was taken to the hospital where she died. investigators believe sweitzer was in an argument with someone before she was shot. police do not know who took her to the park or to the hospital... but they say she may have been targeted. ( darya ) family members of convicted killer antolin garcia-torres took the stand in the penalty phase of his murder trial. they are trying to convince the jury to spare his life. antolin's sister testified about their rough childhood including her sexual abuse at the hands of their alcoholic father. other family members gave similar stories of his difficult childhood. his family says the convicted murderer grew up in poverty and had a troubled past. they say because of that he should be spared the death

( mark ) closing arguments are underway in the trial of three santa clara county correctional officers charged with beating a mentally ill inmate to death. the alleged beating happened back in august 20-15. michael tyree was found dead in his cell with a ruptured spleen the morning after. jereh lubrin, rafael rodriguez and matthew farris are the deputies who could face life in prison if convicted. they are also facing charges connected to the beating of a second mentally ill inmate on the same night. ( mark ) happening today... teachers in one north bay city will go on strike. teachers at petaluma schools will walk out at 7:00 this morning. they say they are protesting unfair labor practices and policies that they feel are harmful to a quality education. teachers will be picketing in front of schools. kron 4's will tran is on his way to petaluma he will be live at the strike as soon as it begins. ( darya ) the proposal to build an east bay high school near a county jail has been rejected. the school board in dublin and hundreds of parents held a meeting last

( mark ) chaos erupts in merced county when a tanker- truck overturns causing a massive fire and explosions. it happened just off highway-99 yesterday morning in atwater. cal fire officials say the truck was carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline. they say the truck ran off the highway and overturned near applegate road. the incident set off a massive fire and a series of explosions. people scrambled out of local businesses. . .several were evacuated. the truck

this happened two weeks ago, but police are just now releasing details of the case. it happened inside the "highlands of marin apartment complex" on cresta way. many students who attend the college of marin live in this complex. ( mark ) the victim says the man must not have releaized her boyfriend was sleeping next to her. once the intruder saw her boyfriend he ran off. the intruder got away. ( darya ) police in the east bay are investigating an attempted child luring case in oakley. an 11-year-old boy and his sister were at a playground saturday morning when police say a man drove through the parking lot and up to where the boy and his sister were playing. police say he asked one of the children if they wanted to go for a ride. the boy then grabbed his sister and ran to their parents. the man then drove off.

( mark ) investigators using police dogs served a search warrant in san francisco as they work to find a missing father. piseth chhay went missing on mother's day. this search comes after his car was found stripped in the bayview on saturday. police are not saying where in the bayview they served the search warrant or what they found. chhay has a wife and two young sons. he hasn't been seen since mother's day when he left his home in san franciso to ( mark ) the woman facing charges in a d-u-i crash that killed a three-year old boy has pleaded not guilty. yarenit malihan tried to hide behind a wall and her lawyer during the arraignment.

malihan stayed out of view of the cameras for the entire hearing. the 41-year old is facing felony charges for the september crash that killed 3-year old elijah dunn. the judge kept the bail at three-million dollars and she remains in custody. authorities say in the past year yarenit has been arrested three times for being intoxicated... including the fatal d-u-i in september. ( darya ) a united airlines plane heading from newark, new jersey to san francisco was evacuated after an engine fire. according to a passenger, this all happened as the plane was taxiing to the runway. over one hundred people were on the plane. flight attentants deployed the inflatable slides to get passengers off. five people suffered minor injuries. passengers were moved to a different flight and landed in san francisco earlier this morning. ( darya ) police arrested a woman in danville accused of robbing a bank with a very unusual disguise. police say 36-year-old jennifer mcclary robbed a "bank of the

( mark ) state health officials believe the botulism contamination that killed one person and sickened nine others was limited to a single, opened bag of nacho cheese sauce. the nacho- cheese dip was sold at a gas station near sacramento last month. a 37-year-old man from antioch died last week from after eating the contaminated cheese dip. the state department of public health is waiting on tests results of another bag of dip taken from the gas station. doctors say any case of botulism in adults is very rare. while patients can recover from botulism, doctors say it takes weeks or even months ( darya ) an elementary school in the east bay will be

demolished at the end of the school year. last night the alameda unified school district voted to close and demolish lum elementary school. this comes after engineers found soil under the school that may not be strong enough to with-stand an earthquake. last night parents and students from the school protested outside city hall while the school board made it's decision. after the vote, kron 4 spoke with parents about the decision to demolish the school. ( darya ) the district has assured teachers and staff that they will have jobs at other schools. as of now, there are no plans for the property that the school sits on. ( darya ) san francsico police have arrested an assistant teacher after a bomb threat forced an evacuation of a school. 22 year-old pablo munoz was arrested on two counts of felony threats and two counts of misdemeanor false reporting of a bomb. he was working as an assistant teacher at leport montessori school on fell street. police received

the bomb threats on two separate occasions. after a sweep of the school, no bombs were found. ( mark ) the u-s government is suing fiat- chrysler accusing them of cheating emissions tests on some of its diesel pickup trucks and jeep s-u-vs. the justice department is accusing the automaker of using software that allows them to emit more pollution on the road than during lab testing. last year the government accused volkswagen of cheating on tests, and the company ended up pleading guilty. the italian- american automaker denies installing the software with intent to cheat on tests. for more information on the which specific cars are invovled in the scandal, head to our website at kron four dot com. ruling blocking president trump's executive order to cut money from sanctuary cities. the judge gave san francisco and santa clara county two weeks to file any documents opposing the request. the executive order threatened to withhold federal money from cities that don't cooperate with u-s immigration authorities. this comes after attorney general jeff sessions released a memo saying that the executive order applies to a relatvely small amount of money. ( mark ) in response to the terrorist attack in manchester that killed more than 20 people... airports all around the world are increasing security including san francisco international. despite the attack, both virgin and british airways are continuing with their regular schedules to both london and manchester. ( darya ) some musiscians are canceling their concerts following the manchester attack. ariana grande has suspended her tour. she was scheduled to perform tomorrow night in london. "blondie" canceled their concert last night in london

out of respect for the victims in the attack. pop group "take that" also canceled their concert last night in liverpool. a number of musicians with upcoming concerts in europe say they don't plan on changing their plans, including "guns n' roses," phil collins and "iron maiden." and officials from the bottlerock festival in napa released a statement offering their condolences to the victims of the attack. they also addressed security saying quote: "bottlerock napa valley works in coordination with local and regional law enforcement agencies to provide the very best in safety measures for our festival guests." the three day festival starts on friday. ( mark ) a homeless encampment catches fire in oakland. the blaze started around 4:00 this morning at 5th street and brush street. firefighters were able to quickly put fire. no one was injured in the fire. there has been at least four homeless encampment fires in oakland within the past month. ( mark ) family members of convicted killer antolin garcia-torres took the stand in the penalty phase of his

murder trial. they are trying to convince the jury to spare his life. antolin's sister testified about their rough childhood including her sexual abuse at the hands of their alcoholic father. other family members gave similar stories of his difficult childhood. his family says the convicted murderer grew up in poverty and had a troubled past. they say because of that he should be spared the death penalty. with someone before she was shot. police do not know who took her to the park or to the hospital... but they say she may have ( mark @ bam ) state officials say highway damage from storms has topped one billion dollars for the first time in california history. the initial estimate does not include this massive mudslide that wiped out part of highway one in big sur. caltrans says part of the road is under 40 feet of dirt and rocks department of transportation officials storms caused just over one-billion-dollars in damages at 424 sites for the fiscal year that ends in june. last year's damages totaled at 660-million dollars. ( darya ) uber admitted to underpaying its new york city drivers tens of millions of dollars for the past two- and-a-half years. the san francisco based company said
